Passed Away On: 26/01/2011
Passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, Verna Pye of George's Brook, aged 77 years. Predeceased by son Gary; brothers Charles, Reginald and Bill Palmer; sister Lydia (Tom Garrett) and brother-in-law Oliver Skiffington. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters Irma (Anthony) and Sharon (Eric); sons Curtis, Tony (Roxanne), Shawn (Darlene), Bill (Kay) and Carl; sisters Kate Hancock (Edgar) and Monica Skiffington; brother Ewan Palmer (Esther); sisters-in-law Charlotte Williams, Annabelle and Lillian Palmer; seven special grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service took place on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from the United Church, Lethbridge with interment at United Cemetery, Lethbridge.

Passed Away On: 28/01/2011
COOPER, Hazel Mariah (age 76 years)
- We regret to announce her passing at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on January 28, 2011. Predeceased by her husband of 49 years Marshall, parents George and Mary Ann, infant brother Herbert, infant sister Cicely and brother Allister (Ruth). Survived by sons, Harvey (Mary), Glenn, Perry (Kallie) and Darren. Grandchildren, Nicholas (Leah), Victoria and Jonah. Nieces Judy Lynn and Carolyn. Nephews Stephen (Sherry) and Brandon (Jocelyn) and large number of other family and close friends. Resting at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Trinity East with funeral to take place on Monday January 31, 2011 with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery. Rev. John Gillam and Rev. Valerie Gillam officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed Away On: 29/01/2011

It is with great sadness the family of the late Marguerite George, age 94, announce her peaceful passing at the Dr. A. O'Mahoney Manor, Clarenvillle, on January 29, 2011. Predeceased by her parents, Aaron and Sarah Pittman (nee Blundon); brothers, George, Lester and Chesley and dearly beloved husband, Clarence. Leaving to mourn with many precious and loving memories are her children, Eileen (Arthur Adams), Chesley (Lillian), Linda (Bob Turner) and Lawrence (Mary); grandchildren, Gail,Annette and Paula, Harold and Danette, Tanya, Robbie and Mark, Krista, Jolene and Nicole; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Walter and many other relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour. The funeral service, officiated by Major Phyllis Blundell-Colbourne and Captain Reid Colbourne, assisted by Rev. John Adams, took place on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Salvation Army, Hickman's Harbour with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lower Lance Cove.

Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday February 2, 2011 Florence Rebecca Moss of Jamestown in her 85th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters: Gloria Palmer of Brooklyn, Sadie Barney (Arthur) of Sudbury Ont. Glendine Fraser (Alvin) of Shoal Harbour, Patricia Leonard (Andrew) of Milton, Christine Walsh (Larry) of Summerville, Louise Moss (Stanley Broomfield) of Goose Bay; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Alma Button of Carbonear plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by husband Hall and son in law Calvin Palmer. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. Isaac Hutchings from St. James Anglican Church on Saturday February 5th, 2011 with interment following at St. James Anglican Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Kerry Reid, Jason Leonard, Patrick Fraser, great-grandson Stephen Leblanc, son-in-law Andy Leonard and friend Mike Baker. Passed peacefully away on Friday February 11, 2011 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Mrs. Minnie Ellen Snook, formerly of Sunnyside Trinity Bay and a resident of St. Luke's Home, St. John's, aged 93 years. Predeceased by her husband Leonard Snook in December 2002, brother Harvey in 1986, and brother John in 1985. Leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces and nephews, other family and friends. Rested at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Sunnyside. Funeral Service took place on Monday, February 14, 2011 with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Sunnyside. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Cemetery Fund, Sunnyside.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, Dotchen Martin of Bunyan's Cove, aged 68 years. Predeceased by parents Annie and Reuben; brother Ralph. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Rose of 47 years; children Arlene (Aus), Stephen (Brenda), Angela (Troy), Paula (Glenn), Dana (Troy) and Robert (Paula); sisters Eneth (William), Hazel (Wilmore), Brenda (Don), Genevieve, Elsie (Ray) and Neta (Art); sisters-in-law Susie (Cluny), Jane (Carl) and Greta; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at United Church, Bunyan's Cove. Funeral service took place on Friday, February 11, 2011 from United Church, Bunyan's Cove with interment at United Cemetery, Bunyan's Cove. Melvin Ploughman
It is with sadness that the families of the late Melvin Chester Ploughman announce his sudden passing at his residence in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 89 years. Melvin is predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Ploughman; brothers, Fred, and Arthur; sisters, Helen, Marie, Hazel, Leona, Evelyn, and Monnie. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Evelyn; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relative and friends. Visitation will take place Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 7-9 pm and Monday, February 7, 2011 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 2 pm from Windsor Pentecostal Church, 97 King Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. The interment will follow at the Windsor Pentecostal Cemetery, Caribou Road, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Janeway Children's Foundation. Predeceased by his parents, James and Lillian; brothers, Curtis, Lindo, Lionel; sisters, Florence and Rita; one nephew and 2 nieces. Leaving to mourn 28 nephews and nieces and their families and a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour, Random Island. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Vera Abbott, took place on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the United Church, Britannia with interment following.

Predeceased by husbands James Osmond and Edward Leyte, son Eddie Leyte, daughter-in-law Sherry Leyte, and son–in-laws Lloyd Snow, Bert Fudge and William Hill.
