HYNES, Dorothy
Passed peacefully away at the Sunshine Manor in Clarenville on Sunday, January 27, 2002, Dorothy Hynes of Clarenville in her 97th year. Predeceased by husband Joseph (1978), infant son David, two brothers and two sisters. Left with fond and loving memories daughters Audrey Letts of Cochrane, Ontario, Ruby Dick (Frank) of Abbotsford, BC, Betty Williams (Alex) of Goulds, NF; sons Harry (Geneva) of Clarenville, Ivan (Rowena) of Goobies, Barry (Pauline) of Clarenville; five brothers, four sisters, 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews, relatives, friends and special friend Lorraine Upwards. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral took place on Wednesday, January 30 at the United Church with interment at United Church Cemetery, Clarenville.

WARREN, Sarah May
Passed away suddenly on January 25, 2002 at Mount Pearl, Sarah May Warren of North West Brook in her 88th year. Left with fond, loving memories her son Cordell (Beth); grandchildren Raymond (Marilyn), Queen's Cove, Claudette (Jerry), Mount Pearl; great-grandchildren Stacey, Kenny and Tyler; sister Mary (Harold) Hollett, Chance Cove; brothers Douglas (Lilian) Cooper, Deer Lake, William (Gladys), Queen's Cove, Raymond (Winnie), Queen's Cove; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at All Saints Anglican Church, North West Brook with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, North West Brook. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

BECK, Bessie
Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home in Clarke's Beach on Friday, January 25, 2002 Bessie Beck of Swift Current in her 89th year. Predeceased by husband Donald, June 11, 2001. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories three sons Robert and wife Ann of Swift Current, Eric and wife Rosemary of Sunnyside, Roger and wife Karen of Pasadena; two daughters Stella and husband Gordon Avery of Labrador City, Vida and husband Mark Vaters of Swift Current; one sister Amelia Hannah Giles of Garden Cove; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Pentecostal Church, Swift Current. Pastor Roberts officiated at the funeral service which was held on Monday, January 28. Interment followed at the Pentecostal cemetery, Swift Current. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour. WE CARE.

SHEPPARD, Albert John (Jack)
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on Wednesday, January 30, 2002, John (Jack) Sheppard of Catalina, age 80 years. Predeceased by his sister. Eliza. Left to mourn are his devoted wife of 56 years Janet and his four sons John Jr. (Patricia), Labrador City; Stewart (Celia), Portugal Cove; Wade (Irene), Clarenville; Paul (Netta), St. John's, and six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a large circle of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Catalina on February 2, 2002. In his memory, donations may be made to a charity of choice.


February 11, 2002

PENNEY, Dexter
Passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, February 5, 2002, Dexter M. Penney of Canning's Cove, aged 45 years. Predeceased by his father Leslie, 1971. Leaving to mourn his wife Florence of 24 years; daughter Lesley (Mike Davis), Port Blandford; mother Ella Mae Penney, Canning's Cove; sisters Vera Stead,  Mount  Pearl  and  Ena Young  (Mike), Musgravetown; brothers Sterling (Janice), Lethbridge, Murdock, Canning's Cove and Monty, Canning's Cove; mother-in-law Shelia Garrett, Port Blandford and a number of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at St. John Anglican Church, Canning's Cove. Funeral serv-ice took place on Friday, February 8, 2002 from St. John Anglican Church with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Canning's Cove.

CLARKE, Phyllis
Passed peacefully away at home in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday, February 5, 2002, Phyllis Clarke of Dunfield, age 73 years. Predeceased by daughters Pauline (1949) and Donna (1980). Leaving to mourn her husband of 54 years, Clarence; one son Randy (Sharon); five daughters Christine Davis (Junior), Stephanie Fitzpatrick (Frank), Julia Mouland (Wilson), Glenice Knight (Ken) and Karen Browne (Steve); 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also other relatives and friends. Rested at her home in Dunfield. Funeral service took place on Friday, February 8, 2002 from Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Dunfield with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Trinity. In her memory donations may be made to the Leonard A. Miller Centre or Health Sciences Centre.

HAYTER, Mary Anne
Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Home, St. John's on February 9, 2002, Mary Hayter, in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Thomas (1972) and son Dennis (1987). Giving thanks for her long life are sons Bill (Betty), St. John's, Wilson (Sally), Courtright, Ontario; daughter-in-law Nina, Edmonton, Alberta; brother Arthur, Conner Brook; sister Clara, St. John's; grand-children Derek, Diane, Cathy, Everett, Lynn, Dennis and Tammy; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; also relatives in Trinity, Gander, Corner Brook and friends at St. Luke's Home. Rested at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity with interment at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Trinity. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Home Wheelchair Bus Fund or St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville.
Well done thou good and faithful servant. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Passed peacefully away at the Lions Manor, Placentia, Naomi Kelly, formerly from Petley, Random Island. Leaving to mourn daughters Doris Ivany (Clement) and Lily Baker (Melvin); sons Lewis (Margaret), George (Marie), Irving (Verna) and Maxwell; sisters Frances Cook and Norma Fisher; brothers Stephen, Samuel and Gilbert; 21 grand-children; and a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral took place from the Anglican Church, Petley with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, also in Petley. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on February 1, 2002, Elisha Gregory in his 86th year. Predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years Mabel (Vey); grandson Gary; and son Lloyd. Leaving to mourn and will be sadly by his daughter Judy Ferguson (Earl), Queen's Cove; son Raymond (Mary Lou), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; four grandchildren Dianne, Kent, Brenda and John; three great-grandchildren Jessie, Ethan and Eston; and a great circle of relatives and friends. Funeral took place from the Queen's Cove United Church on Monday, February 4. Interment followed at the Queen's Cove United Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on February 7, 2002, Garland Goldsworthy, age 71. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 50 years Delilah; daughter Shirley; sons Wayne (Patti), Brian (Candy) and Danny (Danielia); ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; five sisters; and a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral took place on Sunday, February 10 from St. Clements Anglican Church, Champney's West. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Champney's West. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.
