SQUIRES, Harvey
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, February 5, 2001, Harvey Squires of Clarenville, aged 78 years. Predeceased by his brothers Liol and Bert. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Marjorie of 54 years; daughters Lorraine (Gene Ploughman), Shoal Harbour, Marjorie (Barry Lucier), Fort McMurray, AB and Barbara (Garry Goebel), Kelowna, BC; grandchildren Stephen (Tammy), Glenn, Angela and Michael; great grandchild Tanner and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service was held Wednesday, February 7, 2001 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. In his memory donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.

STEAD, Evelyn M.
Passed away suddenly at her home, Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, Evelyn M. Stead of Little Catalina aged 86 years. Predeceased by her husband John and two sons. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons; Lawrence (Maxine) Mount Pearl; Seymour (Ruth); Earl (Barbara); Colin (Geraldine) Little Catalina; Wayne (Vivian); daughter Mae (Boyd) Brampton, Ontario; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brother Jabez Johnson (Josie) and sister Bertha Jeans, St. Catherine's Haven, Port Union, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held Friday, Feb 9. 2001, from Calvary Memorial United Church, Little Catalina. With interment at United Church Cemetery, Little Catalina.

MACKEY, Ella
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, Ella Mackey (Short) formerly of Hermitage, who was residing in Deep Bight, aged 56 years. Rested at Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. Predeceased by her mother and father Elizabeth and Louis Short. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughters Kate Short and Lynette Short (Jason Balsom); sons Louis Short and Eugene Short, all of Deep Bight; sisters Viola Short, Deep Bight; brothers Wilbert Short (Betty) and Newmand Short, both of Hermitage and Hayward Short, Maces Bay, NB; one grandchild Zachary Short; aunts Doris Short and Millie Stanley and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service held on Friday, February 9, 2001, from Trinity United Church, Deep Bight with interment at United Cemetery, Deep Bight.

LOCKYER, Yvonne
Passed away suddenly in her home on Thursday, February 8, 2001, Elizabeth Yvonne Lockyer of Little Harbour, aged 56 years. Predeceased by her mother Myra Foote. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Rex of 28 years; her father Charles Foote, Sunnyside, and a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at United Church, Sunnyside. Funeral service was held on Sunday, February 11, 2001 from United Church, Sunnyside with interment at United Cemetery, Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Church, Sunnyside.

LAWTON, Michael T.
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center Feb. 9, 2001, Michael T. Lawton of King's Cove and Labrador City, aged 69 years. Predeceased by father, Thomas and mother, Anne. Leaving to mourn wife Fran (Ricketts), sister Kathleen of Rocks Springs, Wy., brother Gerald (Mary), King's Cove, sisters-in-law Daisy Lawton, King's Cove, Chris Constantine, St. John's, Lorraine Preston (Roland), Whitby, Ontario, brother-in-law James Ricketts, Knight's Cove, eleven nieces and nephews. Rested at the Roman Catholic Church in King's Cove. Funeral took place 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 13. Burial at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, King's Cove. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

POWER, J. Robert "Bob"
Passed peacefully away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, surrounded by family at the palliative care unit of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, Bob Power, of Paradise, age 66 years. Predeceased by parents, Bren and Mabel (nee Chafe) Power and son, Robert. Left with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife, Estelle (nee Chafe); daughter, Alice; son-in-law, Wilson; precious grandchildren, Ashley, Stephanie and Riley; sisters, Catherine Philpott, St. John's and Rosalind (Wayne Smith), Clarenville; brother, Brendan (Janet), Clarenville; brothers-in-law, John Chafe (Largo, Florida) and Ron Chafe (Ottawa, ON); sister-in-law, Sr. Loretta Chafe, R.S.M., Goulds; many loving nieces and nephews and an extended circle of friends in St. John's and Grand Falls-Windsor (where he resided for 30 years of his life). Bob was a Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus in Grand Falls, 12 years as leader in the Boy Scout Movement, past vice-chairman of the Roman Catholic School Board, Grand Falls. Rested at Carnell's Funeral Home, Freshwater Road, St. John's. Visitation was held Saturday and Sunday. A celebration of Bob's life took place on Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at St. Patrick's Church, St. Patrick's Street at 11 a.m. One day of visitation to follow at Central Funeral Home in Grand Falls-Windsor. Interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery on Union Street in Grand Falls-Windsor. For any additional information, please call the funeral homes at 722-2730 or 489-3880. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or the Palliative Care Unit of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, February 16, 2001, Janie Strong of Clarenville, aged 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Bert, August 2000 and her brother Harry Butt. Leaving to mourn her sister Louise Pippy (Berrick), St. John's, brother Edison Butt, Pouch Cove, brother Charles Butt (Betty), Musgravetown and special niece Charlene, sister-in-law Viola Butt, St. John's, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service was held Sunday, February 18, 2001 from her beloved Memorial United Church, Clarenville with interment at United Cemetery, Clarenville.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, February 19, 2001, William Wornell of Shoal Harbour, aged 84 years. Predeceased by his wife Shirley, 1988. Leaving to mourn one son Fred (Thelma), Mount Pearl; one daughter Angela (Ed Benson), Clarenville; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister Louise (Gordon Carter), Ontario; and many relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service was held Wednesday, February 21, 2001 from Memorial United Church, Clarenville, Interment at United Church Cemetery, Clarenville.

IVANY, Eli
Passed peacefully away at the Bonavista Community Health Centre on Tuesday, February 20, 2001, Eli Ivany of Petley, Random Island, aged 78, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Eli was a member of the Orange Lodge for 60 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Hazel of 54 years; sons Hedley (Rose), Dennis (Betty); daughters Norma (Wilbur), Shirley (Bob), Rowena (Harold), Gilda (Gerald), Beverly (Max); 21 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service held on Friday, February 23, 2001 from All Saints Anglican Church, Petley.

LAWTON, Mary J.
Passed away peacefully and suddenly at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Care Complex in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday, Feb, 20, 2001, Mary J. Lawton of King's Cove, aged 72 years. Predeceased by her father William Ricketts, mother Alice Ricketts, brothers Patrick, William, Louis, Vincent and Tom. Leaving to mourn husband Gerald, sisters Ellen Dodge and Marge Mackin, both of River Grove, Illinois; brothers Frank and Felix Ricketts (Irene) of Port Union; daughters Maureen Mifflin (Gerald Farrell), Millie Matthews (Carl), Wendy Byrne (Mike), son Joe (Marcie); grandchildren Melissa, Coleen, Justin, Colin, Kedvin, Allan, Andy, Vanessa, Ryan; one great grandaughter , Madison; sisters-in-law Bride Ricketts (Buchans), Margaret Ricketts (Halifax), Mary Ricketts (Manitoba), Kay Kershisnik (Wyoming), Daisy Lawton (Torbay) and Fran Lawton(Clarenville); nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral took place on Friday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. Sts. Peter & Paul Church; interment at R.C. Cemetery, King's Cove.

REX, Lorne
Passed away suddenly at Port Rexton, February 20, 2001, Lorne Rex of Port Rexton, aged 56 years. Active member of the community Lions Club, Orange & Black Society, United Fisherman and CLB Comrades. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Sophie Rex, sister Gladys Hiscock, brother-in-law Jack Hiscock and sister-in-law May Rex. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Minnie of 33 years; daughter Sharon Rex, Toronto, ON; sons Lorne Robert Rex (Linda) and Trevor Rex, both at Port Rexton; brothers Winston Rex, Medicine Hat, AB and Clyde Rex, Port Rexton, one grandson Brett Rex and a number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral service held on Saturday, February 24, 2001 from Anglican Church, Port Rexton with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Port Rexton. Donations in his memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Anglican Church, Port Rexton.

PERRY, Georgina Marie
Passed peacefully away at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ontario on Thursday, February 22, 2001 at the age of 67 years, Georgina Perry (nee Eastman). Left with lots of love and memories are her devoted husband Ashley and her three sons Wayne (Karen), Glen (Sue), Gary (Virginia); her eleven grandchildren; also one sister Geraldine Patey (Melvin); four brothers Ben (Flossie), Bud (Bernice), Wilfred (Rita) and Merlon (Donna). She also leaves a very large circle of relatives and friends who all loved her very much. Funeral service took place Saturday, February 24. Interment at Briar Hill Cemetery, Sutton, Ontario.

WALSH, Veronica
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, February 23, 2001, Veronica Walsh of Bloomfield, aged 74 years. Leaving to mourn daughters Bertille (Horace), Bloomfield; Lucy (Fred), Plate Cove West; Helen (Clyde), Keels; Kathleen, Summerville; Mary (Baxter), Bloomfield; son Sam (Gert), Kitchener, ON; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; also special friend Fronie and great-granddaughter Danielle.

DAY, Flora
Passed peacefully away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on Monday, February 26, 2001, Flora Day (Greening) of Lethbridge, aged 84 years. Predeceased by her husband Lewis, May 20, 1980; son Calvin; brothers Max, Roy, Abe and Marvin. Leaving to mourn son Harvey (Florence), Lethbridge and Walter (Joyce), Pembroke, ON; daughters Rubina Jones, Saskatoon, SK and Maxine (Ernest Jones), Pasadena; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sisters Dot (Alan Ivany), Musgravetown, Shirley (Larry Keats), Bunyan's Cove and Mavis Ivany, Lethbridge; brothers Harvey (Leona), Alan (Linda), Lewis (Annie), Frank (Relda), Dolph, Jamestown and a circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held Thursday, March 1, 2001 from Anglican Church, Trinity with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Trinity.
