FURLONG, Bride (of Plate Cove West)
It is with great sadness that the family of Bride Furlong announce her passing on February 12, 2000, aged 87 years, at the Clarenville Hospital. Predeceased by husband James (1982). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughters Winnifred (James), Martha (Samuel), Isabelle (John), Mary Ellen, Madeline (William); sons Francis, James (Elizabeth); 23 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn sister Catherine Keough and brother-in-law Michael Furlong, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral took place Monday, February 14, 10:00 a.m., at the R.C. Parish Plate Cove.

WELLS, Clyde
Passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 19, 2000, Clyde Wells of Shoal Harbour, formerly of Clarenville, aged 57 years. Predeceased by parents Hubert and Ethel Wells and brother George. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Linda; brothers Gordon, Clarenville; Lawrence (Eileen), Musgravetown and Lloyd (Daphne), Shoal Harbour; sisters Annie (Late Fred Skiffington), Grand Falls-Winsor and Shirley (Lloyd Holloway), Bloomfield; sister-in-law Minnie Wells; mother-in-law Alma Maidment an a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral took place on Wednesday, February 23, 2000 from Salvation Army Citadel, Clarenville. Interment at Salvation Army Cemetery, Clarenville.

BUTT, Lucy
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, February 20, 2000, Lucy Butt of Lethbridge, aged 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are husband Garfield of 61 years; two sons John (Doreen) and George (Ida), both of Lethbridge; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister Rowena Butt of Grand Falls-Winsor and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral took place on Wednesday, February 23, 2000 from Memorial United Church, Lethbridge. Interment at New United Church Cemetery, Lethbridge, Memorial Fund to Sunshine Manor, Dr. G.B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville.

FROUDE, Adelaide
Passed peacefully away at Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, St. John's on Monday, February 21, 2000, Adelaide Froude of Burgoyne's Cove, aged 90 years. Predeceased by husband Archibald and son Albert. Leaving to mourn daughter Sarah Phillips; sons Leslie and wife Melvie, Ralph and wife Rebecca; two sisters Carrie Brown and Blanche Parrot (Steve); 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Friday, February 25, 2000 from Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Burgoyne's Cove.

STRONG, Phyllis
Passed peacefully awa at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday, February 23, 2000, Phyllis Strong of Clarenville, aged 78 years. Predeceased by daughter Vivian Campbell. Leaving to mourn husband Cecil of 55 years; daughters Jacqueline Barr (John), Ruth Short (Bill), Angela Clench, Joan Strong, Deborah Vatour (Louis), Victoria Strong (Ralph Wheaton), Rebecca Dyke, Paulette Strong (Henry Lambert), and Regina Yates (Allister); sons Douglas Strong and William Strong; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville, funeral service held on Saturday, February 26, 2000 from Memorial United Church, Clarenville. Flowers or donations to a charity of ones choice gratefully accepted.

GOODYEAR, James
Passed away at Bonavista Hospital on February 24, 2000, in his 98 year, James Goodyear. Predeceased by his wife Annie, brothers George, Garland and Kenneth, sisters Julia and Maud. Leaving to mourn daughter Cavell and husband Harold, two grandchildren Gary and Susan, two great-grandchildren Karen and Jason, sisters Lee, Gaye, Nancy (Les) sisters-in-law Gertrude and Josie and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held February 26 at Bethany United Church, Catalina, Reverend Patricia Melindy officiating. Interment at the United Church Cemetery.

DEAN, Annie
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, February 26, 2000, Annie Millicent Spence Dean (nee Lambert) of Northwest Brook, aged 72 years. Predeceased by parents Ulysses and Leticia Lambert, sisters Laura Dean and Evelyn Spurrell and brother Eli. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Simeon of 56 years; two daughters Sandra (Everett Soper, Northwest Brook and Rose (Gerald Andrews), Carbonear; five sons Eli (Marion), Northwest Brook, Leslie (Grace), St. John's, Melvin (Ivy), Northwest Brook, Terry (Susan), Kitchener, ON and Robert (Angie), Clarenville; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; three sisters Viola Maclean, Richmond Hill, ON, Woodrow (Thomas Spurrell), Butter Cove and Sarah Francis, St. John's; two brothers Robert Lambert (Gwendolyn), Southport and Maxwell Lambert (Edith), Southport and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Emmanuel United Church, Northwest Brook. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 1, 2000 from Emmanuel Church, Northwest Brook. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Northwest Brook. In her memory flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Emmanuel United Church Memorial Fund.

ABBOTT, Susie
Passed peacefully away on Sunday, February 27, 2000, at the Agnes Pratt Home, in her 70th year, Susie Abbott. Leaving to mourn her husband of 52 years, Clement at Bonavista, six sons and six daughters. Stewart (Debbie) Toronto; Ed (Joan) Mount Pearl; Hector (Jackie) Bonavista; Gary (Pamela) Ottawa; Clement (Brenda) Chamberlains; Irvine (Heather) Toronto; Marie (Peter Hammond) Catalina; Doris (Jerry Patey) Wabush; Doreen (Pat Horan) Toronto; Geraldine (Larry White) Carbonear; Gladys (Rex Sheppard) Bonavista; Jennifer, Brampton. Also leaving to mourn 28 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends, especially the caring staff of Agnes Pratt Home and the Dialysis Unit of the Health Science Centre. Rested at Strathies Funeral Home, Bonavista. Funeral service took place at Memorial United Church, Bonavista on Wednesday, March 1, 2000. Donations in her memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit, Health Science Complex, St. John's.

CHARD, Frederick H.
Passed suddenly away at Bonavista, on Sunday, February 27, 2000, Frederick Chard of Bonavista, aged 69 years. Predeceased by parents, Hubert and Maria Chard. leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 47 years, Marjorie; daughters: Mabel Osmond (Nick) Middle Gull Pond, Brenda Broderick (Loyola) Catalina, and Maxine Ryan (Randy) Bonavista; sons: Hubert (Debbie) Manuels, Benvie (Beverly) Fort McMurray, and Fred, Toronto; brother: John (Mildred) Bonavista; sisters: Elizabeth Tremblett, Manuels, Mabel Lang (Herbert) Manuels, and Una Morgan (Jack) Orilla, Ontario; 11 grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Strathies' Funeral Home, Bonavista. Funeral service took place on Thursday, March 2, 2000 from Memorial United Church, Bonavista. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Bonavista.

TILLEY, Annie Dulcie
Passed peacefully away Monday, February 28, 2000, at the Bonavista Health Centre Complex, Annie Dulcie (nee Wiseman) aged 79 years. Leaving to cherish her memories, four sons, Harvey (Pearl); Gilbert, Newmans Cove; Stan, Centreville; Ches (Madelin) Kelligrews, seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, two sisters Pearl Ford, Bonavista; May Haldreson (Khris), BC; one brother John Wiseman (Ethel); many nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Newman's Cove, March 2/00 at 2 pm. Interment at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Newman's Cove.
