It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Glenda Joanne Marsh, age 42, from Robinson Bight, Random Island at the Health Science Complex, St. John's on November 29, 2012. Joanne leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her husband, Jim; children, Hillary (Taylor), and Taylor (Brittany); parents, Joseph and Zelda Blundell; brothers, Keith (Tina), Jason (Sonia); sisters, Cindy, Carolyn (Paul) and Kerri (Jason); mother-in-law, Inez Marsh; brothers-in-law, Darrin (Sylvia), Tony , Richard (Melanie), and Todd (Julie); sister-in-law, Susan (David); many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour from where the funeral service, officiated by Major Phyllis Blundell-Colbourne and Captain Reid Colbourne, assisted by Captain Yvonne Ledrew, took place from the Salvation Army, Hickman's Harbour with cremation following.

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on December 1, 2012, Arthur Smith Sceviour, age 89 from Burgoyne's Cove. Predeceased by parents, Waterman and Mary Jane; sisters, Annie (Norm Currie) and Louie; brother, Allan. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories after 57 years of marriage are his wife, Ella; also leaving to mourn are his children, Mildred (Lawrence Parrott), Curtis (Joan), Calvin (Jackie), Yvonne (Raymond George) and Lisa (Sterling King); 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other special relatives and friends. Rested at the St. Mary's Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Robert Oldford, took place on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, Randolph E. Smith of Little Heart's Ease, aged 58 years. Predeceased by parents Abraham and Elizabeth Smith; grandson Anthony. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Caroline of 37 years; daughters Kimberley Marsh (Robert), Kristy Jones (James), Kerri Smith (Neal) and Karla Smith (Bradley); son Kurtis (Tiffany); grandchildren Mackenzie, Malcolm, Kolby, Mariah, Karley, Liam and Ryan; sisters Lorraine Marsh (Howard), Audrey Stringer (Cyril), Ivy Fitzgerald (Cyril) and Martha Seward (Lemuel); and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Heart's Ease. Family service took place on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease with cremation following.

Maxwell Squires

Passed peacefully away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, Maxwell Squires, age 87 years. Predeceased by wife, Louise, in 1992. Left with fond and loving memories,daughter, Juanita, son-in-law, Grant. Three grandchildren, Angela(Craig), Rhonda(Ken), Krista(Steven). Four great grandchildren, Ryan, Adrian, Mason, Matthew. Two brothers, Jim, Cyril(Joan), one sister, Jessie Walsh and special friend, Bessie Abbott, also a large circle of family & friends. Rested at Strathie's funeral home. Funeral service, officated by Rev. Shaun O'Connor, was held on Saturday, Nov. 24,2012. at the Mortuary Chapel with interment following at the Anglican Cementery. Forever in our hearts.

William "Bill" Ryder
Passed on: December 6th, 2012

Peacefully at The Village of Tansley Woods, Burlington, on Thursday December 6, 2012 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Fledda (nee Foster) (2008). Loving father of Sharol Ryder and her husband Richard Maxwell, Greg Foster and his wife Linda, Rebecca Ryder, and Brenda MacFarlane and her husband Greg. Proud Poppa of Daryl, Samantha, Dustin, Nicholas, Jamie, Michael, Candace, Christopher, Jessica, and Joseph. Dear brother of Tom Ryder. Predeceased by his sister Daisy Crewe. Long-time employee of Mississauga Hydro. Bill in retirement enjoyed spreading joy to children playing Santa Clause at Santa's Village in Bracebridge. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Ragonetti and his team for their wonderful care and support, and express heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional guardian angels at Tansley Woods. Visitation took place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Sunday December 9, 2012 from 11 a.m., until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy to The Alzheimer's Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com

Ryan Pike
Passed on: December 7th, 2012

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on December 7, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer, Ryan Pike of Shoal Harbour, aged 30 years. Predeceased by grandfathers John Penney and Thomas Pike. Left with fond and loving memories his parents; Robert and Karen Pike, girlfriend, Samantha Burke who was by his side through it all, sister Vanessa Ivany (Corey) of Port au Port East, brother Sheldon (Shelley) of Shoal Harbour, nephews Cohen and Logan, grandmothers, Eva Penney of Canning's Cove and Winnifred Pike of Clarke's Beach and a large circle of family and friends. Private family visitation was held on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Memorial Service was held at Memorial United Church, Clarenville on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 with a private family interment at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search & Rescue, Clarenville.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, Muriel Greening, known to many as "Aunt Moo" of Musgravetown, aged 77 years. Predeceased by son Kevin; grandson Brody and brother Calvin. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Harold of 59 years; daughter Sheri (Wally Howse); sons Derek (Roxanne), Ted and Shawn (Joy); grandchildren Laurie, Jason, Mitchell, Terri-Lynn, Joey, Jody, Morgan, Brooke, Tyler and Brett; great grandchildren Ashley, Gracie, Bradley, Amelia, Peyton and Luke; sisters Evelyn Moore and Audrey Vincent; and a large circle of family and friends. Hilda Joan Vardy (nee Flight)

Passed peacefully away with her children by her side, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario on November 21, 2012 in her 61st year. Leaving to mourn children; Paul (Tammy), Kim and Kirk, Grandchildren- Samantha, Toby and Ellanna; Brothers-Harvey (Florence), Max (Ruby), Winston (Ontario). Sisters; Lorraine & Family, Marie & Family, Goldie & Family (Ontario). Predeceased by her parents Arthur & Violet and Brother Victor. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service was held in Barrie, Ontario on Saturday December 1, 2012. Funeral Announcement to be made at a later date in Clarenville.

We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Mary Bawn Barker, from Open Hall (formerly of Red Head Cove) at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on November 22, 2012. Aged 90. Predeceased by husband Lawrence Barker, parents Esther and Austin Hatch, step-mother Agnes, brother Arthur, and sister Ruth. Survived by sister Olive Bradley. Children - Barbara (Alister Kielly), Arthur (Anita), Jean (Clement Benteau) Raymond (Bernadette), Beatrice (Jack Mullins), Ruth (Donald Fennell), Paul (Alma), Frances. Grandchildren - Ken, Diana, Kim, Jennifer, Sarah, Andrew, Elaina, Karen, Jaspen, Cassandra, Laura and Christopher. Great -Grand children - Olivia, Rebecca, Tyler, Ethan and Claire. Rested at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Open Hall from where the funeral service officiated by Father Brian Colbert which took place on November 26th, 2012 with internment following funeral. Ina Penney (nee Bowring)
Passed on: November 23rd, 2012

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of INA PENNEY (BOWRING) April 26, 1939-November 23, 2012 Devoted wife and best friend to Lindsay Loving mother to Dolores Turley (Bob), Lisa Lata (Mike) and Tina Osmond (Jim) "Nanny with the treats" to Drew, Mitchell, Justin, Brandon, Ryan, Nicholas, Bobby and Jimmy. Ina was a long time resident of Britannia, Random Island before moving to Ontario to be closer to her family. Residing in Oshawa, Ina enjoyed her days shopping with her twin sister, Hilda but always home to have supper on the table for Lin. Weekends she loved to visit her daughters having family BBQ'S, going to yard sales and Dollar stores. With George Jones singing and surrounded by her family, Ina died peacefully. Ina leaves an extended family in Newfoundland and Ontario and many friends whom she never forgot. As per her wishes Ina was cremated and Lindsay will be bringing her home to be buried "up on the hill".

Passed peacefully away at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placentia on December 15, 2012, Vida Muriel March, age 91, from Shoal Harbour, formerly from Lady Cove, Random Island. Predeceased by her parents, Attwood and Alice March; brothers, Fred and Harry. Leaving to mourn are her siblings, Grace Wareham (Joe- deceased), Marion Ivany (Basil- deceased), Hedley (Amy), Jean Adey (Bill-deceased), Mac (Verna), Vera Smith (Aaron-deceased) and Ralph ; sister-in-law, Nina March and other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, December 17, 2012, Mabel Wiseman of Shoal Harbour, aged 93 years. Predeceased by husband Gordon; sisters Stella Martin and Ethel Bugden; her parents James and Mary Bugden. Left with fond and loving memories her sister Doris Verge; a number of nieces & nephews; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Shoal Harbour United Church with interment at United Cemetery, Church Road, Shoal Harbour. In her memory donations may be made to Dr. G B Cross Hospital or Shoal Harbour United Church.
