Predeceased by her mother Drucella Greening. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Lloyd of 43 years; son Darrell of Lethbridge; father Belcher Greening of Musgravetown; brothers (Yvonne) of Musgravetown and Rick (Debbie) of Hodge’s Cove; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, from the United Church, Lethbridge, with interment at United Cemetery, Lethbridge.

 

Peddle, Florence M. - Passed away peacefully at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, Florence M. Peddle of Hodge’s Cove, aged 91 years. Predeceased by her husband Ralph Peddle. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Cynthia Peddle at Port Blandford, Evelyn (Cyril Dodge) at St. John’s, Annie (Randy Newberry) at Naples, FL, Pauline (Eldon Whalen) at Caplin Cove, Alice (Cecil Jacobs) at Little Hearts Ease and Myrtice (Herbert Spurrell) at Hodge’s Cove, Jack (Irene) at Hodge’s Cove, Silas (Lillian) at Hodge’s Cove, Bruce (Cathie at Whitby, ON, and Kevin (Dot) at PEI; sisters Evelyn Dwyer at Grand Falls-Windsor and Dinah Ballinger at Colorado, USA; brother Otto Martin (Nellie) at Little Hearts Ease; sister-in-law Annie B. Meadus, Vina B. - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Interfaith Citizen’s Home, Carbonear, on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, Vina B. Meadus, retired teacher formerly of Grates Cove and Clarenville, age 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Llewellyn; daughter Josephine Lambert; granddaughter Wanda Martin; daughter-in-law Phyllis (nee Lambert) Meadus; her parents and her siblings. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Saturday, December 3, 2005, Elias Perry of Musgravetown, formerly of Glovertown, aged 83 years. Predeceased by son Steven, brother Harry, sister Josie Parsons, brother Jack and twin brother Walt. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Lisa (Robin Amyot) at North Bay, ON; sons Paul (Tammy) at Whitecourt, AB, and Wayne (Heather) at Bobcaygeon, ON; ten grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on November 27, 2005, Edmund Tremblett of Bonavista in his 80th year. Predeceased by brothers Harold, Bennett and Warren; and sisters Lucy, Jane, Pearl and Blanche. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Maude of 57 years; son Harold; daughters Lorraine (Fred) Pelley at Bay Roberts, Joyce (Gary) Stryde at Labrador City and Audrey (Charles) Jones at St. John’s; seven grandchildren; Corey Pelley at Rockford, Illinois, Lori Cooze at Calgary, Alberta, Sue-Lynn Weeks at Clarenville, Steven Stryde at Fort McMurray, Alberta, Joshua Stryde at St. John’s, Shawn Jones at St. John’s and Teri-Lynn Jones at Toronto, Ontario; and four great-grandchildren Destiny, Parker, Chloe and Benjamin; sisters Phoebe (Rex) Hayley and Jessie Waye; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Philpott, James Michael - Passed away peacefully at Lakeside Homes, Gander, on November 30, 2005, James Michael Philpott, age 85 years. Predeceased by parents Ellen and James Philpott, sisters Julia and Josephine, brothers-in-law Robert Philpott, Thomas Bartlett and Bernard Hedderson. Fennell, William Leonard (Bill) - Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving members of his family at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on November 30, 2005, at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Josephine; children: Leonard (Greta) at Plate Cove West, Thomas (Jeanette) at Plate Cove West. Anthony (Juanita) at Whitecourt, AB, Mary (Brian) Felkar at Petawawa, ON, Eileen (Martin) Ducey at St. John’s, Dorothy Newman at Clarenville, John (Heather) at Sorrento, BC, Aidan (Kaye) at Whitecourt, AB, Richard (Anita) at Whitecourt, AB, Theresa (Max) Prince at Princeton and Jeanette (Williem) van Seters, Hoek van Holland, The Netherlands; twenty-eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by his six nephews and three nieces in Newfoundland and fifteen nieces and nephews in USA, including special niece, Shirley Fennell at Staten Island, NY; sisters-in-law Bridget Devereaux at Duntara, Rose Philpott and Mabel Fennell at Plate Cove West and Margaret Fennell at Brooklyn, NY. Maloney, John F. - It is with saddened hearts that the family of John F. Maloney announce his passing at his home in Sweet Bay on Monday, November 28, 2005. Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Ita and his sister Marion. Left to forever cherish their wonderful memories are his special companion Margaret Peddle; his adored children: Jackie (Tilson), Karen (Patrick), Donna (David), Debbie (Stan), Glen (Debbie) and Lisa (Peter); sisters Josephine (Mike), Loretta (Lou), Sadie (Fred), Therese (Bernie) and Dot (Freddy); brothers:: Andrew (Vera) and Jerome (Madonna); grandchildren: Terri-Lynn, Robyn, Samanthia, Jessica, Joseph, Danielle, Chantel, Alexis, Nolan and Brittany; great-grandchild Riley; and a large number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Laura Belle Pardy; brothers, Ben, Thomas and Jack; son-in-law, Ervin Locke; and brother-in-law, Gerry O’Connell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Marjorie, of 58 years; daughters, Barbara Locke at Port Rexton, Joyce (Donald) Baker at Shoal Harbour and Darlene (Bradley) Norman at Gander; grandchildren, Wade Locke, Ervin (Cyndy) Locke, Corey (Lindsay Bartlett) Locke and Tyler Norman;; one great-grandchild, Ryan Locke; brothers Alex (Dora), Frank (Adyllis) at Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, and Rance (Marlene) at Brandford, Ontario; one sister, Una O’Connell; also a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Dowden, Eli Joseph - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville, on December 13, Eli Joseph Dowden, formerly of Tack’s Beach, living in Arnold’s Cove, in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Dowden, and brothers and sisters. Left with fond and loving memories are his great nephew, Boyd Guy, wife, Carol Ann, and son Mason, who was his pride and joy, with whom he resided for 13 years; sister-in-law, Jane Dowden, residing at Pentecostal Nursing Home in Clarke’s Beach; as well as nieces Ettie Best, Winnie Deer, Susie Greeley, Beatrice Tucker, Marilyn Frampton, Ettie Slade and Jeanette Peach; and nephews, John E. Green and Cyril Dowden and their families; and a large number of other great-nieces and nephews and friends. Remains rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Arnold’s Cove. Funeral service held on Thursday, December 15, 2005, at the Anglican Church with interment at Interfaith Cemetery, Arnold’s Cove. In his memory, a memorial fund to St. Michael’s Anglican Church.

 

Reid, Roland John - Passed away suddenly at his residence in Adeytown on Friday, December 9, 2005, Roland John Reid, formerly of St. John’s, age 61 years. Predeceased by his father, Maxwell Reid, and father-in-law, Harry Bartlett. Lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Kurt and Karl (Lesley); mother, Sarah Reid; mother-in-law, Jean Bartlett; two sisters, Grace (Robert) Williams, and Jennifer (Peter) Babb; brother-in-law Peter Bartlett (Jackie); special aunt and uncle, Florence and Don Randell; nephews, Brett (Nicky) Williams, Peter Williams, Douglas, Steven and Philip Bartlett; niece Jennifer Williams; as well as a large circle of relatives, friends and valued employees. Cremation has taken place and respecting Roland’s wishes, a private family gathering is planned. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lung Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

 

Strong, Richard Francis - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Friday, December 9, 2005, Richard Francis Strong of Clarenville, aged 83 years. Predeceased by daughter-in-law, Karen. Left with fond and loving memories his wife, Nettie, of 62 years; daughter, Janet Strong (Robert) of Clarenville; sons, Dennis (Ivy) of Clarenville and Austin Strong of Clarenville; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Remains rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005, at the United Church in Clarenville with interment at United Church Cemetery, Church Hill, Clarenville. S/Sgt RNC Retired - Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit, St. John’s, on Sunday, December 11, 2005, Eric Avery of CBS, formerly of Deep Bight, aged 63 years. Predeceased by his parents John and Elsie Avery. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Dorothy; sons Todd (Susan) and Bradley (Marie); sisters Florence Green (Wilfred) and Betty Lane (Fred); brothers, Russell (Annie), Garfield (Margaret), Harvey (Ivy) and Clarence (Patsy); grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor and Patti; seven sisters-in-law; nine brothers-in-law; mother and father-in-law, Albert and Hattie Piercey; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at United Church, Deep Bight. Funeral service held Wednesday, December 14, 2005, from United Church, Deep Bight, with interment at United Cemetery, Deep Bight. Verge, Elizabeth (September14, 1927 - December 12, 2005) - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on December 12, 2005, Elizabeth Verge of Old Bonaventure in her 79th year. Predeceased by her husband, Peter; sister, Winnie; and brother, Harold. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughter, Daisy (Edward) Fortier of Sneth Carolina; daughter, Jessie (Reginald) Rose of Old Bonaventure; son, Colin (Linda) of Champney’s; son, Edward of Goose Cove; son, Harold (Naomi) of Trinity; daughter, Susannah (Bernard) Skehen of Clarenville; son, Rupert (Jill) of Brampton, ON; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral took place at the Church of St John The Evangelist in New Bonaventure at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2005, with interment at the cemetery in Old Bonaventure. Rested at Blundon’s Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour. Funeral service was officiated by Majors Wayne and Rosemary Green from the Salvation Army Citadel, Bonavista, on December 12, 2005, with interment at Salvation Army Cemetery. Moores, Milton William - Passed away peacefully at  G. B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville, November 23, 2005, age 86. Leaving behind with fond, loving memories his wife Stella (nee Granter); brothers, Percy, Ray and Reg; sons, Wayne and Barry; daughters, Naida and Nancy; four grandchildren, John, Jamie, Stella and Julie; and many friends and extended family. As per his instructions, Milton was cremated without ceremony and will have his ashes scattered at his matriarchal home, Fleury’s Bight, Norte Dame Bay. Left with fond and loving memories her husband, Colin, of 53 years; daughter, Janet Parsons (Willis) of Victoria, NL son, Rod (Patricia) of Edmonton, AB; sisters, Florence Keats (Gordon) of Dover, Emma Penney (George) of Jamestown, Maxine Ash (Calvin) of Portland, Rose Adey (Raymond) of Prince George, BC, and Eve Russell of Winterbrook; brothers, Thomas (Phyllis) of Portland, Harry (Myrtis) of Portland and William (Bill) of Portland five grandchildren, Dwayne (Alison), Dana, Andrew, Matthew and Joshua one great-granddaughter, Victoria; and a large number of relatives and friends. Leaving to cherish a lifetime of devotion, her husband, Reg; five daughters, Mona (Geoff Brinston), Christine (Ted Hussey), Carolyn (Len Smith), Pam (Otto Smith) and Angela (George Smith); grandchildren, Arlene (Rob) Brinston-Conway, Scotty and Mary Hussey, Travis Smith, Doug and Robyn Smith, Aaron and Murray Smith; great-grandchildren, Parker and Charlotte Brinston-Conway; sisters, Mabel Dearing, Phylis (Wilson) Wells and Margaret (Arch) Moore; brothers, Evelyn (Betty), Gordon (Sadie) Edwards and their families. Donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center. Rested at the Anglican Church, Sunnyside, from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

White, Elizabeth (Bessie) - Passed away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, Mrs. Elizabeth White, aged 90 years. Predeceased by husband, Harold, March 14, 1995. Leaving to mourn two daughters, Aletha and Dulcie (Ken) Abbott; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Rachel White, and brother William (Myrtle) Pardy; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Catalina, from Tuesday afternoon until Thursday noon. Funeral service was held on Thursday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Catalina, with interment at United Church Cemetery, Catalina.

 

Walters, Clarence - Passed away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on December 14, Clarence Waters, formerly from Champney’s East, in his 84th year. Predeceased by his sister, Alvina, and brother, Harold. Left to mourn sisters, Hilda at Champney’s East, Helen at Port Rexton, Dorothy (Roy) at Clarenville and Edith (Pierce) at Clarenville; brothers, Donald at English Harbour, Ted (Gertie) at Champney’s East and Hezekiah (Effie) at Clarenville; and other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Champney’s East, from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Robert Peddle, took place on Saturday, December 17, interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

Hiscock, Mary Louise - Passed peacefully away on Sunday, December 11, 2005, in Grimsby, Ontario, Mary Louise Hiscock of Dunfield, Nl, in her 61st year after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 25, 1944, in Trinity, Louise is survived by her loving husband, Chesley; devoted children, Anthony at Grimsby, ON, daughter, Brenda Halamay (Tom) at St. Catherines, ON, grandchildren, Trisha Lee, Devin and Justin; brothers, Robert Ploughman (Edna), Gordon Ploughman (Mary), John Ploughman (Evelyn), Frank Ploughman (Toni) and Eugene Ploughman (Debbie); sisters, Daphne Richard (Armand), Irene Ploughman (John Deagan), Florence Vokey (Joseph) and Brenda Marsh (Wayne). Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Bessie Ploughman; grandson, Jeremy Williams; and nephew, David Ploughman. Cremation took place in Grimsby, ON, and funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Trinity on Saturday, December 17, 2005.

 

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who offered condolences, sent cards, food and donations. Your kindness is greatly appreciated at this most difficult time.
