STROWBRIDGE, E. Blanche
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Wed., Nov. 26, 2003. Blanche Strowbridge, aged 92 years, of Clarenville. Predeceased by her husband Fred and daughter Virginia. Left with fond and loving memories daughters Lillian Boutcher (Elwin) at Come By Chance, Bertha King (George) at Clarenville; sons; Clyde Rodway at Come By Chance, Mose Rodway (Letha) at Clarenville, Derek Rodway at Clarenville; 11 grandchildren and 20 great­grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral took place from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville, on Sat., Nov. 29, 2003, at 2 p.m. Interment at the Interdenominational Cemetery, Clarenville. In her memory donations may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville.

PARDY, Abigail
It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of a dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Abigail Pardy, age 77, entered into eternal rest at her home in Harbour Mille in the early hours of November 20, 2003. Predeceased by brother Edgar and Jerry Pardy. Leaving to mourn her husband of 59 years, Randell; daughter, Ivy (Charlie Price); foster child, Russell; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Winnifred; brothers Merrill Pardy (Margaret), James Pardy (Ethel), Levi Pardy (Sophie) and Thomas Pardy; and many other relatives and friends. Rested at the St. Mary's Anglican Church, Harbour Mille, from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Charles Harris, took place on Sunday, November 23, 2003. Abigail's body was laid to rest at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Mille. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

STACEY, Wayne Vernon
November 20,1963 - November 23, 2003

The family of the late Wayne Vernon Stacey from Garden Cove grieve the tragic loss of a dearly beloved son, brother, husband and father. Wayne leaves to mourn with many precious memories his wife, Judy; sons, Johnathan, Nathan and Evan; parents, Alexander and Annie; brothers, Em (Sylvia) and Dave; sister, Margaret Miller (Freeman); plus extended family. Rested at the United Church in Garden Cove from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. R. E. Rodgers, took place on November 26th, 2003. Many relatives and friends came to bid farewell as his body was laid to rest at the United Church Cemetery, Garden Cove. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

GREENING, Henry Thomas
Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on November 21, 2003, Henry Thomas Greening, age 87, from Port Blandford. Henry Thomas was the father of Cyril (Viola), Randolph (Doreen), Lillian Hann (Art) and Edna Greening (Morley). He also leaves to mourn nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Merita Holloway (Lindbergh), brother-in-law, Albert Chaffey and a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at the Anglican Church, Port Blandford, from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Eric Squires, took place on Sunday, November 23, 2003, with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

COLLINS, Robert J.
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Friday, November 28, 2003, Robert J. Collins of Lethbridge, aged 75 years. Predeceased by his mother, father, two brothers, two sisters and three brothers-in-law. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Dee of 53 years; son, Terry (Roxanne) at St. John's; sisters, Rachel at St. John's, Lucy (Nathan) at St. John's and Betty at Nova Scotia; brother, Douglas (Vera) at St. John's; granddaughter, Danielle; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home in Lethbndge. Funeral took place on Monday, December 1, 2003, at the United Church in Lethbridge. Interment at the United Cemetery, Lethbridge. In his memory, flowers were accepted or a Memorial Fund to the United Church, Lethbridge.

CHAULK, Irene
Passed peacefully away on December 2, 2003, at the Lakeside Homes, Gander, Irene Chaulk of Charlottetown, Bonavista Bay, in her 80th year. Predeceased by her husband, Douglas; daughter, Louise, and grandson, Jerry Left with fond and loving memories are her sons, Sterling (Carmel) of Gander and Vincent (Lillian) of Dover, Bonavista Bay; six grandsons, seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Llewellyn Osmond; brothers, Hedley Drover of St. John's, Moses Drover (Stella) of Charlottetown and Lockyer Drover (Ena) of Charloffetown; and special niece, Donna Noseworthy. Rested at the United Church, Charlottetown, from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Rideout, took place on Friday, December 5, 2003. No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may  be made to the United Church or Salvation Army, Charlottetown. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

HISCOCK, Irene
Passed away suddenly at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 27, 2003, Irene Hiscock of Deep Bight, aged 73 years. Predeceased by her mother, Susan (2002); father, Wallace; and brother, Leslie Avery (2002). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Charles of 57 years; daughters, Audrey Stringer at Sarnia, Ontario, Margaret (Cliff Hampton) at Howley and Doreen Anderson at Shoal Harbour; sons, Everett (Adelaide) at Bunyan's Cove, Chesley (Lela) at Deep Bight, Clyde (Frances) at Calgary, AB, Graham, (Debbie) at Clarenville and Bruce (Lynette) at Elliott's Cove; sister, Bernice Whalen at Caplin Cove; brothers, Edgar Avery (Yvonne), Otto Avery (Marjorie), Wilson Avery and Eric Avery all at Deep Bight; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchil­dren; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. Funeral service held on Monday, December 1, 2003, from Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. Interment at United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund may be made to Trinity Untied Church, Deep Bight.

SMITH, Gladys (nee Gregory)
Passed peacefully away at the L. A. Miller Centre on December 3, 2003, Gladys Smith of Queen's Cove, age 93. Predeceased by her husband, Robert (1979); parents, seven brothers and one sister. Leaving to mourn with many happy memories, her son, Ed (Nellie) at Queen's Cove, grand­daughter, Shelley (Carman Carroll) at St. John's, great-granddaughters, Natalie Hunter, Rebecca Carroll and Susan Cadman (Rick) and a large circle of family and friends, especially members of the ACW and UCW of Queen's Cove, both of which she was a life long active member, and the congregation of St. Aidan's Church, Queen's Cove where she was an organist for over 30 years. Resting at St. Aldan's Anglican Church, Queen's Cove. Funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory inay be made to the Leonard A. Miller Centre , 3rd Floor South, In recognition of the outstanding care provided to Gladys and her family during her stay there.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Thursday, December 11, 2003, Stella Janes of Trouty, aged 78 years. Predeceased by her husband, Simeon. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter, Barbara (Gerald Spurrell), Trouty; brother, Chester Johnson (Gladys), Trouty; godchildren, Joyce Hicks and Woodrow Johnson; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Trouty. Funeral service took place on Sunday, December 14, 2003, from St. Matthew's Anglican Church. Interment held at Anglican cemetery Trouty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Trouty.

SMITH, Albert A.
It is with great sadness the family of the late Albert A. Smith, age 59, announce his peaceful passing in the presence of his loving family, at his residence in Hodges Cove on December 3, 2003. Predeceased by his parents, Delilah and Jacob and one brother, Lindo. Albert leaves to mourn his wife, Philomena; daughters, Pamela (Jeff) Bennett and Janice (Joey) Avery; one grandchild Teanna; sisters, Florence (Hubert) Green, Sylvia Vey and Rosemund (Henry) Soper; brothers, Clarence (Janet) and Max (Doris); plus a large number of other; relatives and friends. Rested at the St. Andrew's United Church from where the funeral service, officiated by Lorraine Moores, took place on Saturday, December 6, 2003 Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Thursday, December 4, 2003, Martha Brinston of Garden Cove, aged 77 years. Predeceased by her husband, Oliver. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter, Irene Moss at Casian, Alberta; son, Edgar (Wanda) at Garden Cove; sister Mae, (George Parsons) at Garden Cove; brother, Charles Stacey (Gladys) at Garden Cove; grandchildren, Jennifer, Trudy, Monique, Misti and Maury; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Cory, Brittany, William, Kenny, Sheldon and Kyle; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Memorial United Church, Garden Cove. Funeral service took place on Saturday, December 6, 2003, from Memorial United Church, Garden Cove. Interment at Garden Cove United Cemetery. In her memory donations may be made to Memorial United Church, Garden Cove.

Passed Peacefuly away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Sunday December 14, 2003, Herbert W. Blundon of Shoal Harbour, age 80 years. Predeceased by wife, Matilda, December 14, 1997, also his mother and father, two sisters, one brother and one grandson. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son, Pierce (Donna); daughters, Vera Stanley (Charles) and Vi Parsons (Dave); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchlldren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Wilfred (Jessie), Raymond (Nellie) and Arthur (lnez); one sister, Olive Hyde (Alfred); and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held Tuesday, December 18, 2 p.m. from Shoal Harbour United Church. Interment followed at United Church Cemetery, Shoal Harbour. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to the digital x-ray unit at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital or Shoal Harbour United Church.

Passed peacefully away at the Dr G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on December 12, 2003, Frederick E. Laite, age 77, from Britannia, Random Island. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his wife, Ruple; daughters, Jenny Blundell and Donna White (Bob); grandchildren, Gwen, Lori-Ann, Annette, Craig and Robby; great-grandchildren, Erika, Carter, Lea and Cole; brothers Ross, Maxwell (Sylvia) and Charles (Effie); siister Annie Walters; sister-in-law, Joyce Laite; plus a number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. Funeral service, ofliciated by Rev'd Eric R. Squires, took place at the All Saints Anglican Church, Petley, on Monday, December 15, 2003, with interment following.

Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on December 18, 2003, age 81 years. Formerly of Shoal Harbour, NL. Leaving to mourn her sister, Vera (Paul Ostapeic), also many nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation will take place at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Memorial service and interment will be held at All Saints Church, English Harbour, Trinity Bay, in June 2004.

FURLONG (RYAN), Mary
Passed peacefully away at the Bonavista Hospital on December 6, Mary Furlong (Ryan) of catalina, formerly of St. Brendan's, aged 91 years. Predeceased by husband, Ignatius (1999); two daughters, Geraldine and Pauline and son, Martin. Leaving to mourn four daughters, Betty' Byrne (Mike) at Buchans, Margaret Traverse (Phil) at Foxtrap, Anita Lane (Tom) at Catalina and Mary Power (Eugene) at Brampton; two sons, Albert (Loretta) at Israel and Kevin at Toronto; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Ryan at St. Brendan's and brother-in-law, Joseph Croke at St. John's. Funeral took place at St. Patrick's Church, Port Union, with interment at R.C. Cemetery, Port Union.

SOPER, Wilfred Grenville
Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Home, St. John's, on Monday, December 15, 2003, Wilfred Grenville Soper of Caplin Cove, aged 81 years. Predeceased by his mother and father, Jonah and Margaret Soper; brothers, Elijah, Samuel and William; sis­ters, Sarah and Martha. Leaving to mourn with  fond memories his wife, Delilah of 59 years, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Heart's Ease. Funeral service held on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, from United Church Caplin Cove with interment at United Cemetery, Caplin Cove.

SMITH, Norman
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on December 8, 2003 Norman Smith, age 81, from Hodge's Cove. Predeceased by his brother, Cyril Smith; and sisters, Violet Strowbridge and Annie Ricketts. He leaves to mourn his wife, Myra one son, Ron (Linda); granddaughter, Lisa; sisters, Gertie Strowbridge and Beatrice Whalen; plus other relatives and friends. Rested at the Anglican Church, Hodge's Cove, from where the funeral service, officiated by the Reverend E. Mercer, took place on Thursday, December 11, 2003, with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

It is with great sadness the family of the late William (Bill) Vardy, age 74, from Hickman's Harbour, announce his passing at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on December 11, 2003. Predeceased by parents, James and Belle; infant son, Hayward; brothers, Jim and Scott; and sister, Sally. Left to mourn are his wife of 55 years Nellie; sons, David (Julie) and Randy (Cavell); step-son, Lloyd Drodge (Sandra); daughters, Jeanette (Mac), Kelly (Maurice), Jackie (Dave) and Tracy (Gerald); brothers, Wilfred (Geraldine), Ralph (Lorraine), Clyde (Charlotte), Charles (Pat) and Ross (Ruby); sisters, Dulcie (Jim) and Olive (Art); sisters-in-law, Edith and Barbara; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. Funeral service, officiated by Captains Wilfred and Wavey Simms, took place on Sunday, December 14, 2003, from the Salvation Army Hickman's Harbour. His body was laid to eternal rest at the United Church Cemetery, Hickman's Harbour, on December 14, 2003.

KING, Raymond Ross
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Friday, December 19, 2003, Raymond Ross King of Bunyan's Cove, aged 85 years. Predeceased by wife, Jane; one sister, Emmeline Brinston; three brothers, Clarence Goodyear, Theophilus Goodyear and Alexander Goodyear and one step-brother, Llewelyn Palmer. Left with fond and loving memories his daughter, Goldie (Everett) Howse of Bloomfield, Rosalie (Bill) King of Lethbridge and Katie (Ivan) Greening of Musgravetown; sons, Robert (Valerie) of Bunyan's Cove, Eric (Marie) of Bunyan's Cove. and Clyde of Bunyan's Cove; sister-in-law, Florence (Gordon) Howse of Bloomfield; step-broth­er, Rancefield Palmer of Brooklyn; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Eli Keats of Bunyan's Cove; and a circle of family and friends. Funeral took place on Sunday, December 21, 2003, from St. Paul's United Church in Bunyan's Cove. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Bunyan's Cove. In his memory flowers were accepted or donations made to the United Church, Bunyan's Cove.
