Strong, Darryl Alexander (1966 - 2006) - Passed away suddenly on March 25, 2006. Loving son of the late Chesley and Florence Strong; brothers, David (twin), Lester and Gregory. Leaving to mourn daughter, Brittany; brothers, Chesley (Allison) and William (Jolanda); sisters, Lorraine (Clarence Martin), Linda (Manning Butts), Bonnie (Darryl Jessome), Barbara (Melvin MacLean), Maxine (Gary Strickland), Elizabeth, Charlotte (Jeff Spurell), Paula (Kerry Martin), Lisa (John Bradley) and Krin (Rodney Joyce); and sister-in-law, Theresa. Also, a large number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Queen’s Cove United Church. The funeral service, officiated by Glenn G. Jarvis, Pastor, took place on Wednesday, March 29, 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

REID, Edmund - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Thursday, April 6, 2006, Edmund Reid of North Harbour, aged 84 years. Predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Leslie and William; and sister, Letta. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Hilda of 59 years; daughters, Marjorie (John), Dinah (Frank), Violet (Dave) and Elsie; sons, John (Judy) and Cam (Cathy); twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at United Church, North Harbour. Funeral service held on Sunday, April 9, 2006, from United Church, North Harbour, with interment at United Cemetery, North Harbour.

 

MALONEY, Margaret - Passed peacefully away at Hoyles Home, St. John's, on Friday, March 31, 2006, Marg Maloney of Plate Cove West, aged 77 years. Predeceased by her husband, Bernard. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Frances (Cecil) at Ottawa, ON, Paul (Norma) at Summerville, Eileen (Percy) at St. John's, Gerry (Kim) at Australia, Carol (Barry) at Medicine Hat, AB, and Brian (Angela) at Southern Bay; sister, Molly at Montreal; brother, Clar (Sheila) at Plate Cove and Lew (Nel) at King's Cove; ten grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Roman Catholic Church, Plate Cove. Funeral service held on Monday, April 3, 2006, from Roman Catholic Church, Plate Cove, with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Plate Cove.

 

STRINGER, Aubrey - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, Aubrey Stringer of Clarenville, aged 78 years. Predeceased by parents, John and Agnes Stringer; sisters, Blanche and Doris. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Frances of 53 years; daughters, Louise (Derrick Oak), Lovetta (Danny Ellis), Yvonne (Eldon Drodge), Lisa (Bond Wiseman) and Rhyna; sons, Clifford (Kim), Mancefield (Carol Tuma), Rodrick, Rockwell (Cavelle), Scott (Carol) and Terrence (Melanie); sister, Virtue (Norman Drodge); brother, Eli (Marie); seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Saturday, April 8, 2006, from Memorial United Church, Clarenville, with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. In his memory donations may be made to Memorial United Church, Clarenville.

BALSOM, Hubert (April 24,1931-April 6,2006) - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Thursday, April 6, 2006, Hubert Balsom of Clarenville in his 74th year. Predeceased by father, Chesley; mother, Irene; and sister, Bonnie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife, Josephine; sons, Jim (Diane) at Deep Bight and Bryan (Betty) at Gander; daughters, Janice (Ralph Blundon) at Milton, Sherry (Gary Randell) at Clarenville and Paula (Doug Shortt) at Sarnia, Ontario; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. W. Williams from United Church, Clarenville, on April 9, 2006, with interment following at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill White, Was Barfett, Heber Lethbridge, Phil Lethbridge, Heber Pitts and Alex Balsom. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

Wadman, Loretta -Passed away after a short illness in the presence of her loving family at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on Thursday, April 6, 2006, Loretta Wadman of Southern Harbour, formerly of Clattice Harbour and Bar Haven, aged 69 years. Predeceased by her sons, Colin and John. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, John, of 47 years; children, Regina (Terry Parsons) at Southern Harbour, Yvonne (Bill Warren) at Clarenville, Terry (Bev Stone) at Monroe, Aiden (Sybil) at Arnold's Cove, Elaine (Scott Pitcher) at Clarenville, Debbie (Glen Barrett) at Southern Harbour and Garry (Corina) at Arnold's Cove; grandchildren, Russell, Janessa and Terrilynn Parsons, Amy, Tracy and Jeremy Lake, Donnika and Jaiden Wadman, Bradley and Hillary Pitcher, Giselle, Brady and Bailey Barrett, Taylor Bolt, Kurt and Brent Wadman; great-grandchildren, Riley and Raegan Lake, Liam Young, Kaylee Parsons and Ryan Parsons; sisters, Annie O'Rourke, Mary Sweeney (Mike) and Margaret Parsons; sisters-in-law, Aquilla Whiffen (Alfred) and Mary Wadman; brothers-in-law, Bill Wadman (Rita), Kevin Wadman (Sylvia) and Terrence Greene; and a large circle of family and many friends. Rested at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church,

Smith, E. May - Passed quietly away after a short illness in the presence of her loving family at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, April 14,2006, E. May Smith, age 94 years. Predeceased by her husband, Luther, in 1976. Leaving to mourn sisters, Cecilia and Florence; sisters-in-law, Pearl and Bessie; nieces and nephews, especially Hazel and Fred, her caregivers; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. The funeral service, officiated by Mrs. Elsie Squires, took place on Monday, April 17,2006, at Central United Church, Random Island.

She was laid to rest at the United Church Cemetery, Aspen Brook.

Chatman, Clarice - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Wednesday, April 12,2006, Clarice Hobbs Chatman of Bunyan's Cove, aged 79 years. Predeceased by husbands, Andrew Hobbs and Albert Chatman. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Edith (Allen), Judy (Roger), Hubert (Irene), Harvey (Marjorie), Carter (Lillian), Brian (Beverley), Rudy (Marilyn) and Michael (Kimberley); stepchildren, Garfield (Judy), Beryl (Kelso), Everett (Linda), William (Sadie), Terry (Ruby), Bernard and Harvey (deceased) (Madonna); twelve grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; brother, Edward G. Penney (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Elsie and Cora; special friend and sister-in-law, Annie B. Penney; and a large circle of family and friends.
