Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, April 2, 2000, Betty Green of Clarenville formally of Caplin Cove, T.B., in her 53rd year. Left with fond and loving memories her three daughters; Susan (Kenneth), Debbie (Hoang) and Sheri (David); one son Michael (Carla); three grandchildren Vicki, Ashley and Brandon; two sisters Shirley (Angus) and Carol (Randy). Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral services held on Tuesday, April 4, 2000) from Wesley United Church, Caplin Cove with interment at the United Church Cemetery, Caplin Cove.

CARPENTER, Edward
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Sunday, April 9, 2000, Edward Carpenter of Clarenville, in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his son, Keith, 1962, daughter, Carol, 1951 and brother Ben, 1998. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Lillian of 60 years, seven sons: Ephraim (Rowena), Roy, Glen (Karen), George, Ben (Barbara), Terry (Cindy), Scott; five daughters: Annie Strong (Gilbert), Lorraine Avery (Lindo), Jean Hillier (Glen), Janice Smith (Wayne), Donna Piercey (David); brothers: Reuben (Dulcie), Port Union, Thomas (Rita), Little Catalina, Llewellyn (Mary), Catalina, Clarence (Pat), St. John, New Brunswick, Harris, Little Catalina. Resting at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral services held Wednesday, April 12, 2000, from Memorial United Church, Clarenville with Interment at the United Church cemetery, Clarenville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund to Project Share, C/O P. O. Box 39, Clarenville, NF A0E 1J0.

SPURRELL, Moses
Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Home, St. John's on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, Moses Spurrell of Southport, aged 87 years. Predeceased by wife Pearl Spurrell and daughters Ruby Dean and Joyce Spurrell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his son Clarence and wife Jessie; son-in-law Gladstone Dean; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers Art (Mary) and George (Winnie); also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service held Saturday, April 15, 2000, from St. Alban's Anglican Church, Gooseberry Cove. Interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Alban's Anglican Church.

VINCENT, Tony
Passed away suddenly Friday, April 14, 2000, Tony Calvin Vincent of Musgravetown, aged 45 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Jill; son Matthew; daughter Vanessa; parents Frederick and Audrey; brother John, Musgravetown; sisters Evelyn (Marvin Greening), Labrador City and Mary Lou (Perry Vey), Hillview; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held Monday, April 17, 2000, from Heritage United Church, Musgravetown. Interment at United Cemetery, Musgravetown.

HEPDITCH, Richard
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on April 16, 2000 Richard Hepditch of Burin in his 44th year. Predeceased by grandaughter Candace Evans, February 7, 1999. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Shirley and mother Alice Hepditch of Southern Harbour; son Bradley (Danielle) of Marystown; daughters Agnes of Burin and Renesa (Wilfred) of Grand Lapierre; grandchildren Brady and Brenenna; sisters Pauline, Bridget, Nellie, and Annataish; brothers Robert, Tom, Joey, George, Jim and David; mother-in-law Rose Fizzard; plus a large circle other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Margaret Hall April 18th at Holy Trinity Church, Ship Cove with Interment following at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hodder's Point. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "We care."

HOLLOHAN, Patrick
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on April 18, 2000, Patrick Hollohan of Summerville, aged 93 years. Predeceased by wife Lillian. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are step-daughters Teresa (Wayne Toope), Mount Pearl, Ellen (Dolph Abbott), Labrador, Mary Barker, St. John's and Eileen (Clarence Pardy), St. John's; brother Frank (Daisy), Summerville; three step-grandchildren Meagan, Renee and Kayla; special niece Pauline Hollohan and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Roman Catholic Church, Summerville. Funeral mass held on Thursday, April 20, 2000, from St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Summerville with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Summerville.

DEVOE, Gary Eric
Irishtown, NF

On April 8, 2000, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Gary left us to do his flying with the angels. At age 17, God closed his arms around him and whispered, "Come to Me". With loving memories he leaves his mom and dad, Diane and Walter, one brother Cory, grandparents Eric and Irene Kendall, aunts Cathy Groves (Roy), Marilyn Hayes (John), Martina Jacklin (Blake), Carol McNeil (Kevin), Germaine McKinney (John), Margaret Triplett (John), Lillian Battiste (George), uncles Redmond Devoe, Marshall Devoe (Patsy), Ted Devoe (Pauline), Godchild Devon Groves and special cousin Laura Groves. Gary was predeceased by his brother Kurt, 1987, grandparents Martin and Genevieve Devoe, uncle Francis Devoe, cousins Gary Devoe and Jeanette Parsons. Gary's funeral took place at St. Anne's RC Church, Codory Valley with Father Desmond McGrath officiating. A bright star now shines from heaven as we remember his humour, wit, love of family and life itself. Gary was a long time member of the Summerside Rockets 4-H Club and will be sadly missed by all his 4-H friends across Newfoundland.

MARSH, William
(Former member of the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit)
Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Hospital on April 14, 2000 William Marsh of Hickman's Harbour in his 81st year. Leaving to mourn with fond memories are his wife Doreen; sons Don, Doug and Brian; daughters Elizabeth (Jim), Augrey, Carol (Gary), Brenda (Larry), and Lynn; daughter-in-law Lynda; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one brother Phillip (Prizzie). Funeral service was held Monday, April 17 at Hickman's Harbour United Church. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Hickman's Harbour.

PEDDLE, Sylvester
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, April 22, 2000, Sylvester Peddle of Bloomfield, aged 87 years. Predeceased by first wife, 1977 and daughter, 1989. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Henrietta of 20 years; daughter Dora (George Harris), Musgravetown; step-daughters Ena (Laben Davis), Port Blandford, Dolly (Norman Ralph), Winterbrook, Louise (Jessie Peddle), Lethbridge, Georgina (Wilf Wiseman), Musgravetown and Vera (Terry Hayward), Brantford, ON; step-sons Scott Skiffington, Musgravetown, Paul Skiffington (Cathy), Brantford, ON, Lorne Skiffington (Judy), Musgravetown and Michael Skiffington (Doreen), Calgary, AB; six sisters Linda Keats, Anna Belle Peddle, Lavina Brown, Doris (Joseph Greening), Charlotte (John Williams) and Gertrude (Clayton Holloway); three brothers Leroy (Winnie), Robert (Myrtel) and Josiah (Margaret), a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held Monday, April 24, 2000 from Heritage United Church, Musgravetown. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Musgravetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage United Church, Musgravetown.

WAY, Donald Gordon
Passed peacefully away at the Bonavista Peninsula Community Health Care Centre on Sunday, April 23, 2000, Donald Gordon Way of Bonavista in his 92nd year. Predeceased by parents Robert and Delilah Way and brother Isaac. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Elizabeth at Shirley's Haven, Catalina, brother Earl and family, brother-in-law Edgar Abbott, Bonavista, Special niece Shirley Keel and family, Bonavista, nephew Calvin Way (Edna) Gander, also a number of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Strathies Funeral Home, Bonavista. Funeral Service was held at the Salvation Army Citadel, Bonavista on April 25, 2000, conducted by Major Loretta Fudge. Interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Bonavista.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Bonavista Health Centre for their kind and professional care while he was a patient there. Special thanks to Majors Calvin and Loretta Fudge for their visits during his illness and to Major Loretta for conducting the funeral service and to all those who took part. Sincere thanks and appreciation to all who sent flowers, messages and monetary donations. Thanks to the Fisherman's Society, pallbearers and to everyone who helped in any way to alleviate the pain during our loss. Your kindness was truly appreciated and will always be remembered. Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, April 25, 2000, Barry Benson of Sunnyside in his 45th year. Predeceased by his mother Marjorie in 1984. Left with fond and loving memories are his father Donald of Sunnyside, sisters Sheila (Thomas Piercey) of Sunnyside, Gloria (Douglas Upshall) of Arnold's Cove, brothers Douglas (Shirley) of Aylesford, Nova Scotia, Nelson (Sadie), Heart's Delight, Heber (Hazel) of Sunnyside. Also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at the Pentecostal Church in Sunnyside. Funeral service held on Friday, April 28 from the Pentecostal Church, Sunnyside with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Sunnyside. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home.

BRYANT, Bertha Melina
Passed peacefully away at her home in Hickman's Harbour on Thursday, April 27, 2000, Bertha Melina Bryant (formally Rose of Portugal Cove) in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Stephen in 1979, and son Douglas in infancy. Left to mourn with cherished memories are her children Fred (wife Bernice) at Brampton, Ontario; Gertie (Mrs. George Dean) at Hickman's Harbour; Pearl (Mrs. Wilfred George) at Mount Pearl; and Herbert, at Hickman's Harbour; nine grandchildren - Ross, Jean, Dennis and Roger at Brampton, Ontario, Barbara at Robinson's Bight, Bonnie at St. John's, Geoffrey at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bradley at Chamberlains and Nancy at Ottawa, Ontario; 11 great-grandchildren, and a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, from the United Church, Hickman's Harbour.

HOLLOWAY, Brethel
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, April 29, 2000, Brethel P. Holloway of Lethbridge, aged 76 years. Predeceased by sister Clara Keats. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Phyllis M. Holloway, Lethbridge; daughters Audrey (Ronald Williams), North York, ON and Pauline (Colin Holloway/Vokey), Cambridge, ON; sons David (Roberta), Grand Bank, Carl (Barbara), Lethbridge, Frazer (Dale), Bloomfield, Charles (Michelle), Lethbridge and Gerald (Pauline), Bloomfield; Step-sisters Stella (Norman Chatman), Cannings Cove and Evelyn (the late William Gilman), Hare Bay; step-brother Llewellyn Penney (Irene), Cannings Cove; sister-in-law Ruth (Doug Thomas), Hodge's Cove; uncle Carl Oldford, Torbay; grandchildren David, Kelly, Jeanie, Ronnie, Jason, Spencer, Rebecca, Michael, Patrick, Matthew and Brooke; great grandchildren Kinberley, Tanisha, Zachary and Michael and a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Monday, May 1, 2000, from Anglican Church, Lethbridge. Interment at Anglican Cemetery, Lethbridge.
