ANTLE, Theresa Caroline [with photo]

Beloved sister and aunt, retired family counselor and former Presentation Sister. Died peacefully, Thursday 29 November 2007 in her 72nd year. Born in Turk's Cove, Trinity Bay and educated in Windsor, Theresa entered the Presentation Convent in St. John's, Newfoundland at the age of 15. She graduated from St. F. X. with a B.A. and B.ED and taught school at Riverhead-St. Mary's Bay, Buchans, Gander and St. John's. After over 25 eyars of service to the church she left the convent to obtain her MPS (Family Counseling) & CRT (Theology) & MA (Marital Counseling) at St. Paul's University and worked in Ottawa from 1978 to 2004 as Assistant Director at the Family Ministry Office of the Ottawa Diocesan Centre, Pulvermacher-Stevens and Goldstein, Moncion & Associates. Theresa will be sadly missed by her huge gang of friends in Ottawa: Rick, Paula, Indra, Veronica, Helene, Fern, Anne-Marie, David and Father Bill. She will also be fondly remembered by her many clients in Ottawa and her many friends in Newfoundland. Her departure leaves much sadness for her two sisters, Kay and Angela and two brothers: Elias and Jack and her nieces, nephews, their children and partners. Theresa is predeceased by her parents Gertrude and John Bernard, sister Shirley (in infancy), Anna (sister-in-law) and niece Tracey. Theresa Antle was buried in St. Joseph's cemetery, Windsor, NL on Saturday 2 December 2007.

, after year long battle with cancer. Shirley (Rice) age 59. Loving wife of Ted Lewandowski. Cherished mother of Natalie St-Pierre (Nicolas) and Curtis Birtch. Dear sister of Raymond Rice, Gordon Rice (Betty) and Hazel Colbourne all of Newfoundland. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Rd., Kanata, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Friday in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society appreciated.

Julie and Danny are delighted to announce the arrival of Will's little sister Elizabeth Mary Lynne, 8 lbs. 1 oz., 21.5", on September 6, 2007. She is the 2nd grandchild for a very proud grandmother Margery (Maggy) Beaudry, a 3rd for Jim and Shirley Fentiman of Victoria, and 9th for Lorna Thomas, Petty Harbor, and Al Thomas, of Torbay, Newfoundland.


Hall, Cecilia Mary (nee Downey)

Passed away peacefully in her 86th year at St. Patrick's Home of Ottawa. She is survived by 6 children: John, Mary, Christopher (Bonnie), Gerard, Stephen (Marianne), and Kevin (Heather); 6 grandchildren: John, Fiona, Pamela, Michael, Kevin and Elizabeth; 4 sisters: Theresa Cashin, Kathleen Barry (Kevin), Ann McNeil (Ralph), and Lucy Briggs (Jim), sister-in-law: Barbara Downey; 3 brothers: Jerome Downey (Rosie), Joe Downey and James Downey (Martha); 2 sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Hall and Madeline Driscoll; 1 brother-in-law: Michael Hall (Phoebe) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony (Tone), 2 sisters: Frances MacIsaac and Sister Mary Andrina Downey, and by 3 brothers: Edward, Bernard and Anthony (Tony). Apart from her roles as wife and mother, and bridge player, Mrs. Hall was best known in Corner Brook for her service as a nurse at Western Memorial Hospital where she worked for many years. She was the Nursing Supervisor on Obstetrics when she retired in 1982. May she rest in peace. Visitation at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion), from 3 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 1. Funeral Mass on Monday, April 2 at 2 p.m. in Saint Patrick’s Basilica (Kent at Nepean). Peacefully at Sarsfield Colonial Home, Sarsfield, Ont. Sunday, November 25th, 2007. Born in 1915 in Nain, Labrador, Rev. Hettasch was a Moravian Missionary in Labrador for 41 years. Beloved husband of the late Frieda (Glaser). Cherished father of Ellen (Ron Dean) of Calgary/Montreal, Johanna "Hannie" (Jerry Fitzgerald) of Ottawa, Ernie of Holyrood, NL. Loving Opa of Karen (Jason Bernard) of Moncton, NB., Paul (Tara) of Burritt's Rapids, Tim (Chris) of Osmond, Ont. Loving great-grandfather of Shealyn, Rayna, Morgan, Jessica. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home 2313 Carling Avenue (west of Carlingwood) Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday in the Chapel at 10 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. Very special thanks to the staff at Sarsfield Colonial Home for 11 years of compassion and care to Siegfried and Frieda. KENNY, John Francis (Sean)

Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit in St. John's, Newfoundland. John (Sean) Francis Kenny, age 63. He was born and raised in Dublin and lived many years in Ottawa. Leaving to mourn wife Chris, daughter Shelagh (Jim), grandchildren Jovi, Hudson, Teagan of Thorold, ON. Sister Bella (Christie), nephew Christopher; brothers Eamonn; Jerry (Delores), niece Siobhan (Stewart), children Liam, Niamh, nephews Stephen (Claire), son Connor, Owen (Sharon), children Shannon and Gavin, Brendan (Tess) of Ireland; and brother Noel (Maureen) of Ottawa, ON. In Newfoundland, brother-in-law Douglas (Barbara), and their children. Sister-in-law Margaret and her children, Bren-Ann (Ryan) and Craig. In Ontario Lawrence (Grace) and their children. Predeceased on August 7, 2007 Brendan who left to mourn Ann and their children. Sean leaves to mourn numerous other relatives and close friends in Ireland Ottawa and Newfoundland. He will be buried in his beloved Ireland. Resting at Cunnigham 's Funeral Home, Lucen Co. Dublin, Ireland on Friday, August 31, 2007. Funeral Service to follow from St. Philomena's Church in Palmerstown on Saturday, September 1, 2007.


KING, Arthur Joseph "Jay"

Jay suffered a stroke and passed away October 3rd, 2007 in his 67th year. He is survived by his mother Kathleen King (nee Dawe) and predeceased by his father Arthur Joseph King. Jay also leaves behind his wife Barbara Kelly, his son Jeffrey King and his daughter-in-law Stephanie Pomery. He will be sadly missed by siblings: Bill, Chris, George, Jim, Francis, Dale, Mary Parsons, Marie Perry and Catherine Rideout. Jay's life work and passion was cars. Prior to his retirement he owned and operated a number of automotive shops on Breezehill, Gladstone, and Donald Streets. He was a hard worker till the end and a decorated power lifter in his prime. He was a hard man yet had a soft spot for kids and animals. In keeping with Jay's character there will be a Memorial to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 at his favourite restaurant, Buffet Yangming, 1547 Merivale Road at 1 p.m. Friends, family and acquaintances are welcome to stop by to pay their respects or to join us for a meal filled with the sharing of fond memories. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you buy a needy child a Christmas gift this year.

were married in a beautiful wedding ceremony on September 1, 2007 in Constance Bay, Ontario with a reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ottawa. Jennifer is the daughter of Patrick and Doreen Walsh of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Louis is the son of Berthe Vaillancourt and Robert Morel of Ottawa, Ontario. Congratulations and best wishes from family and friends.


O'NEIL, Colin

Suddenly, Monday, August 6, 2007, at the age of 51, at his summer residence in Newfoundland. Beloved husband of Penney. Loving father of Shawn. Caring brother to Bill (Emilie), Ron (Connie) and Ann (Don Meharrie). Predeceased by his daughter Amanda, his parents Bill and Nancy and his brother Jack (Eleanor). Dear brother-in-law of Perry Fry of Kanata and Peter Fry of St. John's, NF and son-in-law of Immanuel Fry of St. John's, NF. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and the crew at Baffin Building Systems in Iqaluit, NT. A Service in Memory of Colin will be held in Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, on Thursday at 1 p.m. As per Colin's wishes, an Irish Wake to follow Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Local Heroes Bar and Grill, 4049 Carling Ave., Kanata. STIRLING, Jean (Ann Jane)

On Wednesday, August 2, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto. A beloved, though most unconventional, mother and grandmother, Jean was predeceased in 1994 by her best friend, Stanley John Stirling. Beloved mother of Ann Elwood, Brantford; Lynn Mowbray (Graham), St. John's, Newfoundland; Jack Stirling (Deidre), Ottawa; and Jim Stirling (Jennifer Graham), Burlington. Granny of Kevin Elwood, Jimmy Mowbray, Ian, Alison and Michael Stirling. Mom lived her life with gusto. After a 25 year career at The Bay, Mom retired to travel the world, volunteer at the Toronto Zoo, play bridge and enjoy life. Special gratitude to Maureen Perry and Noonie Yarker who have become family. Special thanks to Dr. Carolyn Iwasa and to the Internal Medicine Team at St. Michael's. Friends and relatives will be received at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Rd., Scarborough (between Eglinton and St. Clair Ave., E.), on Thursday, September 6, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mom's life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. WALSH, Lydia Maria (nee Waronek)

Passed away in Ottawa, Sunday, August 12, 2007, Lydia Maria Walsh (nee Waronek); predeceased by her husband, Nfld. journalist, Bren Walsh. Left to mourn are: Son, Montreal musician Tom & daughter Lydia Ann of Ottawa; sisters: Alice Clark, Cobden, ON; Christine Reyda, Regina, Sask. and Terri Fitzgibbon, Vancouver, BC; brother John Waronek, Rock Glen, Sask.; grandchildren Nathaniel Walsh-Mercier, Montreal, QC and Brendan & Noel Walsh-Adonyi, Budapest, Hungary, and all their families. Burial to be held at Belvedere Cemetery, St. John's, Nfld.


WHELAN, Peter, Translator, Federal Government [with photo]

Peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, aged 59 years. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Pittman). Loving son of Jack and the late Catherine Whelan and dear son-in-law of Alphonsus and Winnifred Pittman of St. John's, Nfld. Cherished brother of Cathy Kerr (Bryan), Anne Whelan and the late Paul Whelan (Mary Katherine), all of Toronto. Peter will be fondly remembered by his family, many friends and colleagues. He was a man who enjoyed many facets of life, his work, travel, hunting and was a long time member of the Kanata Symphony Orchestra and Holy Redeemer Knights of Columbus Council 9544. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave. at Richmond Road, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 44 Rothesay Dr., Kanata (South of the Hazeldean Mall) Monday, December 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. Special thanks to the Queensway Carleton Hospital medical and nursing staff for their excellent care of Peter and Mary.
