In loving memory of Ivy Verbena (nee Butt) Brown- Parfitt.

Ivy was born in Heatherton, NFLD on April 15, 1929 and went to Paradise on January 26, 2005. She earned her wings here on earth and although we weep for our loss, our hearts have been lifted by her spirit and unconditional love. She leaves behind her earthy family; John, Ross, Hope and Ken, Joy and Jim, Dale and Terry, Robin and Craig, Darlene, Shelly and Ray, Danny and Liz, Alison, Michael, Janessa, Jeff, Christine and Andrew, Jamie, Jason, Jinger, Shane, and Chris, Adrien and Dez, Duane, Michael, Angela, Robert and Tracy, Ashley, Kathryn, Ryan, Austin, Haden, Evan, Maia, Wyatt, Zach, Shelby, Alexis, Dyllan, Abby, Hailey, Linda, Mildred, Ada, and Burnice. She left kindness and love with everyone she touched.

MCNAMEE, Gertrude "Trudy" (nee Burke)

Peacefully, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Perley and Rideau Veteran's Heath Centre.  Predeceased by her parents Dr. John A. Burke and Teresa Burke (nee Cozzolino), husband Harold McNamee, infant son Michael, and her sister Sr. Patricia Burke.  Loving mother of Paul of Ottawa, William "Bill" of Surrey, B.C., Sheila Wyntjes of Red Deer, Alberta and their familes. Gertrude is survived by sisters Sr. Amelia Burke, CND of Ottawa, Sr. Regina RGS and Dottie Brennan both of Halifax, Dorothy Burke of Ottawa and brother Dr. John F. Burke of Sydney, N.S.  Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road (east of Bank) Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Monday to the Perley and Rideau Veteran's Chapel for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m.  Interment Hope Cemetery.  The family is very grateful to all the staff at the Perley and Rideau for the extreordinary care they gave to Gertrude during her illness.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre appreciated.
This obituary was originally published in the Ottawa Citizen on February 26, 2005.  Gertrude was born in St. John's, Nfld., in 1920.  Her father was Dr. John (Jack) Burke, DDS, from St. Jacques, Fortune Bay.
