BUTT, MALCOLM ROY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Malcolm Roy Butt announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on September 1, 2008 at the age of 77. Malcolm retired from the City of Toronto. Predeceased by parents, Julius and Agnes Butt; brothers, Clayton and William and two sisters, Alice and Alfreda (John) Paddock. Left with fond and loving memories are his two sisters, Meta (Douglas) Brown and Gwen (Burns) Strickland; both of Brampton, Ontario. Also leaving to mourn 17 nieces and nephews. Pastor Lindsey Foster conducted the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on September 3, 2008. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of his family. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

STONE, ALBERT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert Garland Stone announce his passing at the Central Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 1, 2008 at the age of 81. Albert was a member of the United Church in Springdale. Albert retired from Baie Verte Mines in December of 1990. Predeceased by his mother, Beatrice; his father, Robert; five brothers and one sister. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Alfreda Stone; three sons, Robert Stone (Joyce) of Beachside, Jimmie Stone (Maxine) of Baie Verte, Brian Stone (Rhonda) of Conception Bay South; two daughters, Mae Coombs of Springdale and Adeline Hinks (Jerome) of Beachside. Also leaving to mourn 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one brother, Roland Stone and special friend, Francis Joy. Rev. Patricia Melindy with a special prayer by Pastor George Cole conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church in Springdale on September 4, 2008. Interment was at the United Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jason Hinks, Peter Stone, Corey Stone, Wesley Stone, Curt Coombs, Robbie Stone and Nathan Stone. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment, Jennifer Pender and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

COLBOURNE, MABEL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mabel Colbourne announce her passing at the O’Connell Center in Corner Brook on September 4, 2008 at the age of 96. Mabel retired after many years in the teaching profession. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Julia Brown, her husband, Bram, brothers Wesley and Allen and sister Pearl Budden. Left with fond and loving memories are her two daughters: Roma Madge Colbourne of Steady Brook and Pearl Grant, also of Steady Brook. Also leaving to mourn brother, Bennett Brown (Mildred) of Mount Pearl; grandsons: Todd (Amanda), Greg (Jennifer), Scott (Leanne) and great-granddaughter Olivia; sisters-in-law: Pearl Brown, Maggie Colbourne, Mamie Colbourne, Vivian Colbourne, Mabel Short, Stella Wiseman, Winnie Soper (Charles), Meta Fudge (Bernard) and her dear friend, Olive Short of Springdale, as well as her many nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Reverend Joan Brinston conducted the funeral service at the United Church in Beaumont on September 7, 2008. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery in Lushes Bight. Pallbearers were Todd Grant, Greg Grant, Scott Grant, Stephen Colbourne, Melvin Colbourne and Perry Colbourne. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment, Jennifer Pender and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

PARSONS, DAISY ELIZABETH
Seal Cove, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daisy Elizabeth Parsons, age 67, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, September 6, 2008. Predeceased by her parents, George & Bessie McKay; brothers, Heber and Stephen Matthias; parents-in-law, Maxwell & Gladys Parsons; siblings-in-law, Roland Rice, Fern Parsons, and Cyril Parsons. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Adolphus Dawe Mitchell, age 92, announce his passing at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander on Monday, September 8, 2008. Predeceased by his parents, Enos and Isabella Mitchell; daughter, Brenda Pynn; and siblings, Peter Mitchell, Edward Mitchell, James Mitchell, Henry Mitchell, and Maude Mitchell. RIDEOUT, BERT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bert J. Rideout announce his sudden passing at King’s Point on September 8, 2008 at the age of 83. Bert J. Rideout was a member of the Salvation Army King’s Point Corps. Bert J. Rideout retired from road construction, across the island. Predeceased by parents, Roland and Fanny Rideout; brothers, Stanley, Frederick, Herbert, James, John and Reginald; sisters, Irene, Kelly and Sophie Ryan. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Marcella and daughters, Wavey (Allan Warford) of King’s Point, Dale (Ron Burt) of King’s Point and Nina (Tony Dawe) of King’s Point. Also leaving to mourn two sisters, Mildred Bartlett and Elizabeth Noseworthy, six grandchildren, Melanie (Capt. David Rideout), Justin and Marcel Warford, Kelly (Stephen Hewlett), Jennifer (Jarett Andrews) and Jo-anne Dawe. Major Henry Bingle and granddaughter, Capt. Melanie Rideout conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in King’s Point on September 10, 2008. Interment was at the King’s Point Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons-n-law, Allan Warford, Ron Burt, Tony Dawe and grandsons-in-law, David Rideout, Stephen Hewlett and Jarett Andrews. DAWE, ARTHUR PEARCE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Arthur Pearce Dawe announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on September 10, 2008 at the age of 81. Pearce was a member of the United Church in King’s Point. Predeceased by his mother and father, Isaac and Lavinia Dawe and brother, Reginald. Left with fond and loving memories are his loving wife, Verna; sons, Barry (Mary) of St. Patrick’s, Eric (Beverly) of Springdale, Terry (Peggy) of King’s Point and Elwin (Samantha) of Cambridge, Ontario. Also leaving to mourn 5 grandchildren, Krista of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Timothy of Corner Brook, Erica of St. John’s, Steven of Grand Prairie, Alberta and Bailey of Ontario. Reverend Russell Lodge conducted the funeral service at the United Church in King’s Point on September 14, 2008. Interment was at the King’s Point Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guy Bartlett, Garland Richard, Alfred Milley, Bryce Dawe, Barry Strickland and Dennis Warford. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter William Jacobs, age 79, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Friday, September 12, 2008. Predeceased by his daughters, Marion Jacobs and Bernice Bonnell (Richard); parents, Cogan and Susie Jacobs; siblings, Lucy Jacobs, Herbert Jacobs, Alexander Jacobs, and Baxter Jacobs; brother-in-law, John Hewitt; parents-in-law, George and Charlotte Hurley; and siblings-in-law, Thomas Hurley (Mary), Alec Hurley (Blanche), Eliol Hurley (Ethel), William Hurley (Lydia), and Ethel Gillingham (Ralph). Predeceased by great-granddaughter Kayla Taylor Wells, son, Roger and parents, George and Mary Grace Dicks of South Brook. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Bonnie, nee Saunders, of Springdale; sons, Brian (Selma) of Springdale, Terry (Heather) of Ottawa, Rick (Pamela) of South Brook; daughters, Pauline (Donald) of Beaumont, Sharon (Charlie) of Springdale, Darlene (Clifford) of Springdale, Suzanne (Dennis) of Guelph, Ontario, and Betty Lou of Springdale. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sidney Walter Burt announce his passing at the Springdale Hospital in Springdale on September 17, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Sidney was a member of the Salvation Army. Sidney retired from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper. Predeceased by wife, Sadie; companion, Daphne; parents, Joseph and Bertha Burt; brother, Raymond and sister, Maisie. Left with fond and loving memories are his sons, Watson (Sandra) of King’s Point, Roger (Cordella) of Grand Prairie, Alberta; daughters, Mavis (Maurice Budgell) of King’s Point, Wanda (Lyndon Senior) of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Jean (Cavin Fudge) of King’s Point and Joan (Pearce Greenham) of Mings Bight. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Rowena Beaton, Greta Noble, Audrey Party, Betty Penney, and brothers, Neil, Everett, Allan and sister-in-law, Doris Burt. Major Henry Bingle and Beatrice Bingle conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in King’s Point on Sunday, September 21, 2008. WHYATT, SHIRLEY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Emma Whyatt announce her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale on September 19, 2008 at the age of 72. Shirley was a member of the Salvation Army Home League. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Norman; three sons, Glen (Emma) of Mississauga, Ontario, Roy (Nora) of Toronto, Ontario, Todd (Paula) of Barrie, Ontario; daughter, Maude (Jim) of Pickering, Ontario. Also leaving to mourn nine grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, eight brothers and three sisters. Captains Dwayne and Brandi LeDrew conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in Pilley’s Island on September 22, 2008. Interment was at the Salvation Army Citadel. Pallbearers were Glen, Todd, Jim, Dorm, Bob and Doug. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

ROBERTS, DOROTHY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Roberts announce her passing at the Green Bay Health Centre, on September 24, 2008, age 90 years. Predeceased by her husband, Pleman Roberts; son, Ralph; daughter, Maxine; brothers, Pleman, Ken, Jim, Fred; sisters, Eva, Lilly; half-brothers, Sidney, Sammy, Pierce and Will. Left with fond and loving memories are: daughters, Diane (Reg) Rice, Joan (Terry) Whalen, Effie Rideout; sons; Gilbert (Marie), Gary(Pearl), Braham (Bessie), Melvin (Shirley) Glenn (Vida), sister Naomi Budgell; daughter-in-law Lillian Roberts; 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large number of relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Salvation Army Citadel, Triton, on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 7:00 pm. The funeral service took place Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Triton. Pallbearers: Glenn Roberts, Wylie Whelan, Trent Roberts, Keith Roberts, Blake Rice, Harris Roberts, Rocky Roberts; Honorary Pallbearers; Stedman Rideout, Megan Rice, Jessica Rice, and other grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

TILLEY, BRYCE ROSS
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bryce Ross Tilley announce his passing at the Green Bay Hospital in Springdale on September 28, 2008 at the age of 75. Predeceased by parents, Ross and Nellie Tilley; brothers, Sandy and Alvin; brother-in-law, Claude Thomas and sister-in-law, Kay Russell. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Lucy; sons, Barry of King’s Point, Ivan (Helen) of Campbelton, Randy (Darlene) of Baie Verte, Joe (Tammy) of Garrison, Ontario; daughter, Teresa Moore of Lively, Ontario. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Olive Moulton (Don), Patsy Gill (Frank); brothers, Don (Hettie), Nevelle (Marlys); sister-in-law, Mary Foster and Phyllis Thomas; 10 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Reverend George Gard conducted the funeral service at the United Church in King’s Point on October 1, 2008. Interment was at Interfaith Cemetery in King’s Point. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Timothy, Joshua and Jonathan Tilley, George Yates, Dean Yates and Tony Tucker. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
