COLBOURNE, REGINALD ERIC JAMES -
Passed away Sept. 2, 2000, after a short illness Reginald Eric James Colbourne at the Health Sciences Center, St. John's. He was 68 years of age. Mr. Colbourne retired from fishing in 1993. Predeceased by parents Wilson and Priscilla and brothers: Ross, Bramwell and Reuben. Left to mourn are: wife Maggie; sons - Wade (Ruby) of Lushes Bight, Aubrey of Beaumont and Gregory of Lushes Bight; daughters - Madge (Melvin Heath) of Beaumont, Debbie (Graydon Pelley) of Corner Brook, Bonnie (David Green) of St. John's and Valerie (Ken George) of Belleville, ON. Also leaving to mourn are: sisters - Stella Wiseman, Meta Fudge, Winnifred Soper and Mabel Short; brother Norman Colbourne; 16 grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. H. Tucker conducted the funeral service at the United Church, Beaumont on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Lushes Bight.

OAKE, SADIE LULU
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sadie Lulu Oake, age 81, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Sept. 2, 2000. Predeceased by: parents Ishmael and Mary Jane Paddock; husband Silas; sisters Elsie and Christine and brothers Marmion, Selvie, Goodwin and Edgar. Left with fond and loving memories are: son Victor and family; daughters Margaret (Clayton), Stella (Lloyd), Shirley (Nelson), all of Baie Verte, Sandra (Victor), Nova Scotia, and Dona (Gerald), Fort McMurray. Also leaving to mourn: brothers Nathaniel, Brose and Munn; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her dear and special friends - the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre Residential Care residents and staff and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Marilyn Avery conducted the funeral service at Bethany United Church and Cemetery, Baie Verte on Monday, Sept. 4, 2000.

SULLIVAN, EUGENE PATRICK
BRENT'S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eugene Patrick Sullivan, age 45, announce his passing, which occurred as the result of a motor vehicle accident at Springdale Junction on Sept. 2, 2000. Predeceased by his father John T Sullivan. Left with fond and loving memories are: loving companion - Madonna Sullivan; son - Gerry Sullivan, La Scie; daughters - Mandy Britton, Calgary, AB and Angela Sullivan, La Scie; mother - Elizabeth, Brent's Cove; brothers - Felix (Sharon), Flin Flon, MB, Michael, Linus (Judy), Maxim (Theresa), all of Brent's Cove and Maurice, Surry, BC; sisters - Loretta Flynn (Michael), Bay Roberts, Ellen Green (Raymond), Paradise, Mary Sullivan (Ray) Caddigan, St. John's, Marlene Hearn (Terry), Toronto, ON, Lori-Ann Sullivan (Johnny Price), Halifax, NS and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Brent's Cove on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Blanche Sullivan, age 79, announce her passing at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Sept. 2, 2000. Predeceased by: husband - Patrick; parents - William and Annie Domalain; sister - Rosanna Haas and brothers - Bert Haas and Lewis Haas. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons - Vincent (Mary), Kitchener, ON, William, Dennis, Thomas (Beatrice), all of Brent's Cove, Greg (Anne), Harbour Round and Roy, Brent's Cove; daughters - Agnes Dempsey (Douglas), Belmont, ON, Rita Skinner (Terrance), Brent's Cove, Alicia Sullivan (Gerald Haas), St. John's, Regina Corbett (Stan), Brent's Cove and Veronica French (Paul), Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn: sister - Veronica Shelley, Baie Verte; brother - Vincent Haas (Lucy), Brent's Cove; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Brent's Cove on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000.

UPWARD, RONALD LEON (DAVE)
HARRY'S HR.

Passed away Sept. 2, 2000 after a lengthy illness Ronald Leon Upward (Dave) of Harry's Hr., at the Springdale Hospital. He was 75 years of age. Mr. Upward was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 40, the Masonic Lodge, Shiners, and other lodges and shrine clubs. He was in the Canadian Rangers until Honourable Release. Predeceased by: his parents - Wallace and Eva Upward; brother Jackson and sister Jean. Left to mourn are: his wife Pearl; sons - Wallace of St. John's and Glenn (Alice); one grandson Matthew of Hammer, ON; sister Mina of Moncton, NB and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. T. Russel Lodge and Rev. Jack and Marie Mercer conducted the funeral service at Harry's Hr. United Church on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000. Pallbearers were Paul Bursey, Raymond King, Junior England, Randy Pack, Joe Wells, and Hardy Sparkes.

FORD, BRIDGET VICTORIA
FLEUR DE LYS

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bridget Victoria Ford, age 95, announce her passing at the BVPHC on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000. Predeceased by: husband - Jack; sons - Jack and Charles; and parents - John and Mary Quigley. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons - Jerry (Joan), Fleur De Lys, Clarence (Marguerite), Holyrood, Tom, Tumbler Ridge, BC, Harold (Mary), Logan Lake, BC and Paul, Toronto, ON; daughters - Beatrice Lewis (Victor), Fleur De Lys and Mary Ellen Mitchell, Lakefield, ON. Also leaving to mourn: 49 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; her dear and special friends, the Baie View residents and staff; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Fleur De Lys on Friday, Sept. 15, 2000.

SHORT, VIDA MILLICENT
LA SCIE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vida Millicent Short, age 54, announce her passing at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000. Vida was employed as the Town Clerk at La Scie for the past 23 years. She was predeceased by: her parents - Allan and Maude Burton; brother - Otis Burton and father-in-law - Lester Short. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband - Ralph; sons - Darrel (Peggy), Fort McMurray, AB and Trevor in Ontario; and two granddaughters - Holly and Cindy Lynne. Also leaving to mourn are: brothers - Maurice Burton (Bess), Baie Verte and Kerwin Burton (Helen), La Scie; sister-in-law - Marlene Burton, Pasadena; mother-in-law - Beulah Short; brothers-in-law - Lester Short (Marion) and Elmo, all of La Scie; sister-in-law - Iris Sheppard (John David), Bathurst, NB; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Kean conducted the funeral service at Zion United Church and Cemetery, La Scie on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000.

HIBBS, GEORGINA
ROBERT'S ARM

Passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000 Georgina Hibbs at the age of 85 in her home at Robert's Arm. Predeceased by; parents Lot and Lenora Oake; brothers Thomas and William Oake and Sister Tryphenia. Left to mourn are: husband Harvey Hibbs; sons Roy (Sylvia) of Leaf Rapids, MB, Ford (Bernice) of Grand Falls-Windsor and Kevin (Cindy) of Mississauga, ON. Also leaving to mourn seven grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Tucker and Capt. Randell conducted the funeral service at The Word of Life Tabernacle, Robert's Arm on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Robert's Arm.

SIMMS, FRANCIS REGINALD
PILLEY'S ISLAND

Passed away Sept. 15, 2000, peacefully Francis Reginald Simms of Pilley's Island at the Central Newfoundland Regional Hospital Centre. he was 77 years old. Mr. Simms retired from the Post Office in 1983. Predeceased by: mother - Lillian Hodder; father - Arthur Young; sisters - Hazel and Thelma Hodder. Left to mourn are: wife Ettie Simms; sons Frank (Daphne) of Scarorbough, ON, Ivan (Kim) of Pilley's island; daughter - Arlene (Bruce Payne) of Pilley's Island. Also leaving to mourn: sister Shirley Woodman; brother Ivan Hodder; six grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captain Blaine and Darlene Hopkins conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army, Pilley's island on Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cyril Tizzard, Dean Rice, Ronald Hart, Woodrow Rice, Otto Rice and Bruce Payne.

PROUSE, DAISY EDNA
MIDDLE ARM

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daisy Edna Prouse, age 75, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband James and sister Flossie England. Left with fond and loving memories are: her sons - Henry (Joan), William (Nola), Richard (Lisa), all of Middle Arm; daughters - Edna Penney (Cecil), Smith's Hr. and Cindy Noble (Derrick), Middle Arm. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Clara Tulk (Ernest), Rosalind Bowers (Philip) and Marie Prouse; brother - Charles Newbury (Joyce); 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Wayne Hoyles conducted the funeral service at Bayview Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Middle Arm on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000. Pallbearers were Trent Prouse, Cory Prouse, Geoffery Prouse, Alex Prouse, Don England, and Woodrow Randell.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Joseph Dempsey, age 64, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000. Predeceased by; his parents - Patrick and Winnifred Dempsey; sister - Bernadette; and brothers - Michael and John. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Florence; sons - Ron Jr., Fleur De Lys, Renard, Fort McMurray, AB; daughters - Gloria Seymour (Chris), Fleur De Lys, Rhonda Campbell (Ron), Tottenham, ON, and Roslynn Oxford (Byron), Springdale. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Kay Walsh, Madeline Lewis (Fred), Frances Walsh, Margaret Penney (Gene); brothers - Frank (Josephine), Bern (Mary), Andy (Eileen), Jerome (Geraldine), Patrick (Myrtle), Joe (Kay); grandchildren - Grant, Amelia, Kayla, Krista, Kasondra, Brett, Aaron and Alanna; and a large circle of family and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the uneral mass at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Fleur De Lys on Friday, Sept. 22, 2000. Pallbearers were Jack Lewis, Don Lewis, Andy Dempsey, Len Walsh, Jeff Traverse, Tony Shea, Billy Shea, Jerome Dempsey, Victor Barrett, Frank Dempsey, and the crossbearer was Grant Dempsey.

SAUNDERS, WILBUR JOHN
SPRINGDALE

Passed away Sept. 21. 2000, suddenly, Wilbur John Saunders at the age of 77. Mr. retired from the logging industry. Predeceased by: wife Vivian; daughter Nancy; sons - Rayfield, Fred and Breene; and granddaughter Velda. Left to mourn are: sons - Basil (Ruth) of Springdale, Ford (Hazel) of Springdale, Gordon (Bonnie) of Baie Verte, Gilbert (Yvette) of Springdale, Lee (Tina) of Springdale; daughters - Mildred (Arthur Boyd) of South Brook, Alma (George Coombs) of Yellowknife, NWT, Ada (Roy Williams) of Triton, Nola (Jerry Vincent) of Triton, Rita (Dennis Foss) of Grand Falls- Windsor and Lisa living at home in Springdale. Also leaving to mourn; sister Harriet Penney of Port Saunders; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor H. Paul Foster conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church in Springdale on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Grant Avenue. Pallbearers were Basil Saunders, Ford Saunders, Gordon Saunders, Gilbert Saunders, Jerry Vincent and Jeffrey Saunders.

DORMONDY, MICHAEL W.
BAIE VERTE

Passed away Sept. 25, 2000, peacefully Michael W. Dormondy (Mick) at Baie Verte Health Centre, Baie Verte. He was 38 years of age. Predeceased by brothers - Timothy and John. Left to mourn are: parents Michael and Maude Dormondy, Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn: grandmother Mary Curran, Little Bay; brother Bill; sister-in-law Marion; niece Ashley; nephews Michael and Brandon, Grand Falls-Windsor; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Duffenias and Father Brophy conducted the funeral mass at the Roman Catholic Church in Baie Verte on Sept. 28, 2000. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte. Pallbearers were Bill Dormondy, John Curran, Bill Curran, Dave O'Driscoll, Jamie Walsh, and crossbearer was Greg Terry. Honourary pallbearers were Dave Russell and Calvin Lundrigan.

FAHEY, MARY
HARBOUR ROUND

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Fahey, age 67, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Health centre on Sept. 28, 2000. She was predeceased by: her husband - Thomas; father - Bernard; son-in-law - Ralph Payne; sister - Dorothy Drover; brother - Cyril Drover; and brothers-in- law - William Skinner, Edward Hynes and Gordon Dobbin. Left with fond and loving memories are; sons - Gerard (Emily), Bernard (Madeline), Elias (Dieanna), Anthony (Laurel), all of Harbour Round, Thomas Jr. (Thelma), Shoe Cove; daughters - Genevieve Payne, Julia Payne (Raphael), Stefina Payne (Anthony), Elizabeth Fahey, Lillian Fahey (David Johnson) and Alice Fahey all of Harbour Round. Also leaving to mourn; mother - Alice Drover; sisters - Elizabeth Skinner, Peggy Andrews (Bruce), Clara Hynes, Beatrice Sullivan (Thomas), Josephine McKay, Theresa Dobbin and Stella Drover; brothers - Elias Drover (Judy), Samuel Drover (Mary Margaret), John and Michael (Effie); 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Harbour Round on Sept. 30, 2000. Pallbearers were daughters - Genevieve Payne, Elizabeth Fahey, Julia Payne, Lillian Fahey, Stefina Payne, Alice Fahey and the crossbearer was son - Thomas Fahey Jr.

MATTHEWS, SHIRLEY ANN
BRENT'S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Ann Matthews, age 44, announce her passing at her home in Brent's Cove on Sept. 30, 2000. Predeceased by: her dad - Bert Haas; sisters - Mary Ann and Coretta; and brother-in-law - Domimic. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are; husband - Walter; son - Bradley; daughter - Cindy; her mom - Ann; sisters - Marie, Laura (Gordon) and Joan (Danny); brothers - Eugene (Regina), Roy (Jacqueline), Bert (Joanne) and Wayne (Patti); six nieces, seven nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Linus Coady conducted the funeral service at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Brent's Cove on Oct. 2, 2000. Pallbearers were Roy Haas, Wayne Haas, Bert Haas, Eugene Haas, Colin Matthews, Gordon Sullivan and the crossbearer was Marie Mathews.
