SPRINGDALE
Astella I. Smith (Peters)
passed peacefully away at the Valley Vista Seniors Home, Springdale on November 5, 2002 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Neil; son Arthur; grandchildren Ann Marie, Suzanne and Paul; sisters Neta and Lena and brother Cecil. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children Neta Weir (Lloyd), Springdale and Mereda Leek (Ken), Saskatoon, SK; grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her extended family and many friends. Rev. Marion Davis conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church, Springdale on Thursday, November 7, 2002. Interment was at the Grace United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Notre Dame Masonic Lodge #6, Springdale - Larry Moss, Carl Gillard, Job Halfyard, Raymond King, Ted Robinson and Job Parsons. Honourary pallbearers were Harold England, John Tilley, William French, Sam Newbury, Rex Pelley and Alonzo Normore

ROBINSON, WESLEY JOHN,
MIDDLE ARM

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wesley John Robinson, age 81, announce his passing at the BVPHC on Friday, November 8, 2002. Predeceased by his first wife Elsie and sister Elizabeth Austin. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Gwendolyn; sons Gerald (Maud), Carl (Joyce), Ivan, Leonard (Wanda), Mark (Rozanne), Otto (Avis), Nevis ((Fronie) and Wayne (Daphne) all of Middle Arm; daughters Vivian Penney (Willis), Middle Arm, Bessie Crocker (Percy), St. John's, Audrey Burton (Wyatt) and Elsie Harvey (Albert) both of Middle Arm. Also leaving to mourn are Gwendolyn's family sisters Ida Chipp (Sidney) and Pearl Rowsell (Sandy); brothers Norman (Blanche) and Frederick (Sarah-Mae). 25 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Leighton Foster conducted the funeral service at the funeral home on Sunday, November 10, 2002. interment followed at Middle Arm. Pallbearers were sons gerald, Leonard, mark, Otto, Nevis and Wayne.

PAYNE, WILLIAM,
HARBOUR ROUND

It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Payne, age 83, announce his passing at the BVHC on Sunday, November 10, 2002. Predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Payne; brothers Joe, Ambrose, Jack, and Michael and sisters Josie, Bridget and Nellie. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Clara; sons Aloysuis (Elaine), Springdale, Joseph (Hilda), Baie Verte, Edward and Anthony (Stefina) both of Harbour Round and daughter Jeanette (Ken), Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn sister Anne Drover; mother-in-law Elizabeth Mackay; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Bishop Martin Currie and Father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral service at St. John the Apostle R. C. Church, Brent's Cove on Wednesday, November 13, 2002. Interment was at the R. C. Cemetery, Harbour Round. Pallbearers were Aloysuis Payne, Joseph Payne, Anthony Payne, Jerry Haas, Ken Pinksen and Bernard Fahey. The crossbearer was Jeanette Pinksen.

BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late May Yee Jim, age 54 announce her tragic passing as the result of a motor vehicle accident on the TCH, east of Hampden Junction on Sunday, November 10, 2002 left to forever cherish their wonderful memories are husband Jim; sons Johnny, David (Catherine) and Jason (Annette); grandson Andrew; mother and father Tam Hang and Chak Lim Kwan; brother michael Kwan (Alana); sister Nancy (Edward Kung); mother-in-law Mrs. Wong Kim Sue-Jim; in-laws Betty (Sonny), King (Anne), Jeannie (Brian), Patrick (Tassie), William (Cheryl) and Patrica; Nephews and nieces, Sheryl, Silvana, Roseann, Colin, Michael, Chelsea, Nathan, Zoe, Maddie, Justin, Jasmine, Cassandra, Nathaniel, Jenny and Albert and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Bishop Martin Currie and father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral mass at St. Pius X R. C. Church, Baie Verte on Wednesday, November 13, 2002. interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's. Pallbearers were sons Johnny, David and Jason; brother Michael Kwan, Scott Bailey and Kent Bailey and the crossbearer was Clyde Martin.

OAKE, DENIKA NEKITA DOROTHY,
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness the the family of the late Denika Nekita Dorothy Oake, age 13, announce her tragic passing as the result of a motor vehicle accident on the TCH, east of Hampden Junction on Sunday, November 10, 2002. Predeceased by her grandparents Silas and Sadie Oake and grandmother Dorothy Regular. Left to forever cherish their wonderful memories are mother Gertie Oake (Thomas Robinson); father Victor Oake; brother Scott (Barbara Collins); sister Laura-Lee (Merrill Bath); nephew Dylan and step brother T. J. Robinson all of Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn grandfather Ernest Regular (Lydia), Ming's Bight; many uncles. aunts; special cousin Carla and other cousins and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Robert Parsons and Pastor Deanna Smith conducted the funeral service at Trinity Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Baie Verte on Thursday, November 14, 2002 Pallbearers were Scott Oake, Christopher Pollard, Jeremy Dicks, Justin Jones, Trent Fudge and Joe Barker.

BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gladys Anne Breen, age 49, announce her passing as the result of a motor vehicle accident on the TCH, east of Hampden Junction, Sunday, November 10, 2002. Predeceased by sister Matilda Payne; brothers Darell and David Payne; niece Mary Ann Payne; mother-in-law Andrina Breen; father-in-law Michael Breen and brother-in-law Frank Shinner. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte. HEWLETT, BARRY CHARLES,
SOUTH BROOK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Barry Charles Hewlett announce his passing at home in South Brook on November 10, 2002 at the age of 45. Barry was a member of the Pentecostal Church and Mayor of South Brook. He worked with the Department of Work, Services and Transportation. Predeceased by his father Charles Hewlett. Left with fond and loving memories are Karen Andrews; son Clayton, South Brook; daughters Melinda (Jody Locke), Buchans and Amanda Hewlett (David Matthews), South Brook. Also leaving to mourn mother Ida Hewlett and grand children Kathlyn and Kevin Locke and Joshua Matthews Pastor William Harnum conducted the funeral service at the pentecostal Church, South Brook on Wednesday, November 13, 2002. Pallbearers were Bruce Andrews, Andre Breaupre, Archie Morey, Todd Matthews, Mike McKay, Trevor Croucher, Shane McKay and Jeanette Randell

SHORT, DONALD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald M. Short announce his passing at the A. M. Guy Memorial Health Center, Buchans on November 23, 2002 at the age of 74. Donald was a member of the Salvation Army, Buchans and retired from Leaf Rapids, Man. Predeceased by son Lawrence. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Evelyn; sons Donald, Bathurst, NB, Roderick (Rosie), Fredericton, NB, David, Bathurst, NB and Benjamin, Bathurst, NB; daughters Gloria, Brampton, ON, Irene (Scott), Bathurst, NB, Shirley (Kirk), Storffville, ON and Nancy, St. John's Also leaving to mourn 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Capts. Corey and Charline Vincent conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church, Buchans on November 25, 2002. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale. Pallbearers were Garland Ball, Bruce Rowsell, Woodrow Rideout, John Budden, Wayne Butt and Albert Lock.

SAUNDERS, JOSEPH,
MIDDLE ARM

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Saunders, age 84, announce his passing at the BVPHC, Baie Verte on Monday, November 25, 2002. Predeceased by his wife Neta; parents Samuel and Lebinia; son Lorne; brother Stanley and sister Gertie Jenkins. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Chester (Palma), Middle Arm, Wilbert (Lori), PEI and Malcolm (Esther), Middle Arm; daughters Iris (Henry) Thomas, Middle Arm, Shirley (Oswald) Austin, Baie Verte, Margaret (Henry) Noble, Smith's Hr. and Janette (Wallace) Budgell, Middle Arm. Also leaving to mourn are sister-in-law Violet Saunders, Middle Arm; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Leighton Foster conducted the funeral service at Bayview Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Middle Arm on Thursday, November 28, 2002. Pallbearers were Monty Austin, Reuben Austin, Sonny Noble, Perry Saunders, Conway Thomas and Shawn Noble.

BRETT, JOHN Watkins,
SPRINGDALE

Passed away November 26, 2002 after a lengthy illness, John Watkins Brett at Springdale Hospital. He was 81. Mr. Brett retired from Green Bay Wholesalers Ltd in 1995 and was a member of St. Lukes Anglican Church. Predeceased by his wife Joan P. A. Brett. Left to mourn are son Jerry (Linda); daughters Joy and Jennifer all of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Mary (Cyril) Pelley and Faye; brothers Tom (Evelyn), Peter (Marcie) and Ray (Grace); three grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev Sandra Volker-Wack conducted the funeral services at St. Lukes Anglican Church, Springdale on November 29 at 2 p.m.. Interment was at Grace United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Rolfe, Cyril Pelley Jr., Jerry Brett, Adrian Brett, John Head and Herbert Head.

CRITCH, WINNIE,
LA SCIE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Winnie Critch, age 83, announce her passing at the BVPHC, Baie Verte on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 Predeceased by her husband Kenneth. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Roy (June) and Clarence (Olive); daughters Maude (Sidney) Short, Geraldine (Dennis) Toms, both of La Scie, Ida (Gerald) Wimbleton, Marion (Freeman) Bath, Marguerite (Michael) Sullivan, Vera (Wian) Lotter, all of La Scie. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Geraldine Lane, Kitchener, ON and Mary Powell, Happy Adventure; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Kean conducted the funeral services at Zion United Church and Cemetery, La Scie on Friday, November 29, 2002. Pallbearers were Dennis Toms, Gerald Wimbleton, Freeman Bath, Michael Sullivan, Wian Lotter and Fraser Goulding
