WALSH, STEPHEN JOSEPH
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen Joseph Walsh, age 87, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Tuesday, November 6, 2001. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth and son Anthony. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons, Bert and Dave (Dhel) both of Vancouver, BC, Gary (Laurie), Grimsby, ON and Aiden (Linda), Burlington, ON; daughters, Mary Kennedy (Alonzo), Baie Verte, Yvonne Quellette (Danny), Colbalt, ON, Gertrude Bedard (Jacques), Marathon, ON and Violet Diamond (Ross), La Scie. Also leaving to mourn: 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; his dear and special friends at the Baie View Manor and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Coachman's Cove on Thursday, November 8, 2001. Pallbearers were Keith Kennedy, Jimmy Philpott, Aiden Philpott, Cecil Walsh, Pad Walsh, Phonse Walsh and the cross bearer was Krista-Lee Diamond.

COLBOURNE, NELLIE AMELIA
LUSHES BIGHT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nellie Amelia Colbourne, age 82, announce her passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens home, Springdale on Wednesday, November 7, 2001. Predeceased by her husband Ross and son Frank. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons Lloyd (Effie), Robert's Arm, Max (Violet), Robert's Arm, Eric (Marilyn), Heart's Delight, Harold (Beth), Lushes Bight, Clyde (Sue), Lushes Bight and Shawn (Joy), Springdale; daughters Grace (Dawson), Robert's Arm, Faye (Bruce), Rocky Hr., Gail (David), Claresholm, AB, Gladys (Randy), Eastport, Marilyn (Dennis), Gander Bay, Millie, Halifax, NS, Joanne (Paul), Holyrood and Pauline, Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn are: one sister Ruby; brothers Otto and Selby; 33 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Brown conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church, Lushes Bight on November 9, 2001. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Lushes Bight. Pallbearers were: Eric, Lloyd and Shawn Colbourne (sons); Faye Bradbury, Gladys Street and Joanne Halfyard (daughters).

RANDELL, FREDERICK ARTHUR
Passed away November 9, 2001, peacefully, Frederick Arthur Randell at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte. He was 86 years old. Mr Randell retired from fishing in 1980 and was a member of the L.O.L.. Predeceased by his mother and father. Left to mourn are: wife Grace; sons Kevin (Julia) and Eric (Joan) of Nipper's Hr. and Barry (Ruth), Little Bay Islands; daughters Betty (Norman Perry), Nipper's Hr. and Joy (Ted Noble), Nipper's Hr. Also leaving to mourn 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. LeGrow conducted the funeral service at the United Church, Nipper's Hr on November 11, 2001. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hedley Randell, Lorne Randell, Randy Randell, Fraser Tilley, Rex Starkes and Kevin Perry.

MILLEY, HUBERT A.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hubert A. Milley announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale on November 10, 2001, at the age of 87. Hubert was a member of the Pentecostal Church and Men's Fellowship, South Brook. Hubert retired from Bowater's in 1979. Predeceased by: wife, Dorothy; parents, George and Jane Milley; step-daughter, Lovetta; brother, Ralph; sisters, Ida and Gertie and sons, David and Leonard. Left with fond and loving memories are: son Gordon (Kay), South Brook; daughters, Phyllis Mercer (Ralph), South Brook, Ethel Young (Leonard), South Brook and Evelyn Burton (Wallace), Sudbury, ON. Also leaving to mourn are: two brothers, Verdon and Norman Milley; two sisters, Rowena Burton and Dorothy Milley; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pastor W. Harnum conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church on November 12, 2001. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook. Pallbearers were Rocky Morey, Brian Gillingham, Eric Thomas, Lloyd James, Otis Fowlow and Norris Milley.

NEWBURY, IDA DAPHNE
SHOE COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ida Daphne Newbury, age 82, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Sunday, November 11, 2001. Predeceased by her husband Maxwell; daughter Edna; parents Dorman and Alice Gray and brother Dorman Gray. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons Clayton (Lizzy-May), Shoe Cove and Woodow (Barbara), La Scie; daughters Lylie Gray (Maxwell), Shoe Cove and Marina Curnew (Joseph), Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn brother George Gray (Effie), La Scie; sister-in-law Violet Gray, Shoe Cove; Aunt Sara Dawe, King's Point; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her dear and special friends at the BVPHC Residential Care Unit and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Kean conducted the funeral service at First United Church and Cemetery, Shoe Cove on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Pallbearers were grandsons Junior Gray, Tony Gray, Joey Curnew, Jeffrey Curnew, Jamie Curnew and Sandy Newbury.

NIPPER'S HR.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Henry Prole age 93 announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Predeceased by: his wife Daisy; parents James and Katherine; brothers Edward and George and sister Susie Prole. Left to forever cherish his wonderful memories are: son Edward (Beth), Nipper's Hr; granddaughter Charlene Benoite (Chad), Moncton, NB; his dear and special friends at the Baie View Manor and a circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Sidney Payne conducted the funeral service at St. Mark's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Nipper's Hr on Friday, November 16, 2001. Pallbearers were: Shawn Batstone, Garry Noble, Wallace Noble, Norman Perry, Claude Weir and Hedley Randell.

GILLINGHAM, WALTER JOHN
KING'S POINT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter John Gillingham announce his passing at the Valley Vista, Springdale on November 15, 2001 at the age of 94. Walter John was a member of the Salvation Army Church. He retired from logging. Predeceased by: wife Julia; brothers Hubert, Harvey, Andrew and Daniel and sisters Nellie, Bertha and Dulcie. Left with fond and loving memories are; son Andrew (Yvonne), King's Point and daughter Dulcie Toms (Joshua), Rattling Brook. Also leaving to mourn are: five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Capt. Ralph Young conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church, King's Point on November 18, 2001. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were Perry Gillingham, Andrew Gillingham Jr., Steven Austin, Joshua Toms Jr., Andy Toms and Joshua Budgell.

PITTMAN, WALTER
PILLEY'S ISLAND

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Pittman announce his passing at his home in Pilley's Island on November 18, 2001 at the age of 78. Walter retired from FPI in Triton. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Mae; sons Max (Faye), Pilley's Island and Frank (Rita), Corner Brook: daughters Marcella (Keith), Rocky Mountain House, AB, Maxine (Henry), Springdale and Carolyn (Randy), Hickman's Harbour. Also leaving to mourn are: nine grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters. Captain Blaine Hopkins conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army on November 22, 2001. Interment was at the Pilley's Island Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Max Pittman, Frank Pittman, Mark Pittman, Stephen Barker, Henry Barker and Randy Hale.

LOCKE, MALCOLM ROGER
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Malcolm Roger Locke, age 76, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health care Centre, Grand falls-Windsor on November 18, 2001. Predeceased by his mother, father and brother William. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Joy; son Melvin (Helen), Surry, BC; daughters Marion (Lemuel Jones), Little Bay Islands and Pauline (Gerry Byatt), Halifax, NS; sister Nancy Hull; brothers Allan, Gordon, Cecil and Sidney; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Russell Lodge conducted the funeral service at White Dove Funeral Home, Springdale on Wednesday, November 21, 2001. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Springdale. Pallbearers were Wilson, Terry and Trevor Jones (grandsons); Lemuel (son-in-law) and Roy Newman and Jim James (friends).

WARD, CLAUDE ALLAN
LA SCIE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Claude Allan Ward, age 69, announce his passing on Monday, November 19, 2001. For the past 20 years Claude has been very actively involved within the municipality of La Scie. Twelve of those years he served as Mayor and was only recently reinstated to that position. He was one of the founding members of the La Scie Fire Brigade and is now an honorary member. Claude also served on the Baie Verte Peninsula Health board and was a member and served as president of the La Scie Harbour Authority. He was also known for his political involvement having served many years on the Baie Verte District Liberal Association. Predeceased by his parents William and Lucy Ward; sister Ruby King and grandson Noco Foster. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Lorraine; sons Roy (Alexia), Neil (Dana), Douglas (Susan) and Terry (Tanya); daughters Lynette Gray (Bert), Tassie Foster (Lorne) and Michelle Warren (Douglas) and nine grandchildren, all of La Scie. Also leaving to mourn are: brothers Sidney (Bernice), Ford (Eileen), James (Bernice), Garland (Triffie) and Cecil (Viola) all of La Scie; sisters Eleanor Wimbleton (Roy), Baie Verte, Hilda Colbourne (Wilbert), Leaf Rapids, and Cora Fowler (Delano), La Scie; brothers-in-law Cyril King (Nina), La Scie and Wilfred Mouland (Cindy Cuff), Musgrave Harbour; sister-in-law Phyllis Murray (Harry Spurell), Gander; many nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captains Stan and Debbie Higdon conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, La Scie on Thursday, November 19, 2001. Pallbearers were William Brown, Sandy Critch, George Ryan, Eric Martin, Aubrey Penney and Ernest Curtis.

HARBOUR ROUND

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gertrude Matthews, age 87, announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor on Monday, November 19, 2001. Predeceased by husband William; parents John T and Josephine Drover; sons Jack and Lawrence; son-in-law Raymond Sullivan; sisters Margaret and Elizabeth and brothers Bernard, Fred and Lawrence. Left with fond and loving memories are: daughters Elizabeth Sullivan and Olivera Giles (Robert); daughter-in-law Nora Matthews and sister-in-law Alice Drover, all of Harbour Round; Elizabeth Mackey, Springdale; Mary MacIssac, Stephenville; brother-in-law Gregory Matthews, Brent's Cove and foster sister Josephine Haas, Brent's Cove. Also leaving to mourn are 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; her dear and special friends at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Centre, Residential Unit and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Brent's Cove on Wednesday, November 21, 2001. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Round. Pallbearers were Jamie Matthews, Raymond Sullivan, Bob Giles, Eugene Sullivan, Ignatius Matthews and Gerald Matthews and the cross bearer was Pamela Giles.

GILES, HAYWARD HARACE
KING'S POINT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hayward Harace Giles announce his passing at his home in King's Point on November 24, 2001 at the age of 75. Hayward retired from forestry. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Blanche; sons Ivan (Betty), Sudbury, ON, Eugene (Deborah), King's Point, Scott (Linda), King's Point and Hedley (Gaye), Calgary, AB; daughters Colleen Giles (Merv Robinson), Riverview, NB and Sandra (Eddy Ferguson), Nova Scotia. Also leaving to mourn: sister Pauline Robinson; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a wide circle of friends. Rev. Lodge conducted the funeral service at King's Point United Church on November 27, 2001. Interment was at the King's Point Interfaith Cemetery.
