It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hope Charity
Locke announces her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors
Home in Springdale on May 6, 2010 at the age of 79. Hope was a member
of the Salvation Army. Hope retired from Memorial University. Predeceased
by parents: Harold and Janet Wiseman; son: Brian, age 6 years; First
husband, Dawson Fudge; second husband, William Fisher and siblings:
Edna, Jebidiah, Josephine, Cedella, Wilson, Dexter, Lloyd, Chesley,
Joy and Marie. Left with fond and loving memories are: her husband,
Lester Locke; son, Austin Fudge of Brigus Junction and daughters: Carolyn
Fudge (Glenn) of Brighton and Rosalind Fudge (Robbie) of Grand Falls-Windsor.

Salvation Army Citadel in Springdale on Sunday, May 9, 2010. Interment
was in the Interfaith Cemetery in Brighton. Pallbearers were granddaughters:
Pamela Finn, Tanya Fudge, Jodi Fudge; great grandson, Ryan Barnes and
sons-in-law: Glenn Fudge and Robbie Fudge. Funeral arrangements were

1927-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nancy
Marie Hull (Locke) announces her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale
on May 7, 2010 at the age of 82. Nancy was a member of the Salvation
Army Home League, Little Bay Islands. Predeceased by husband James;
daughter, Shirley and brothers: Allan Locke, Bill Locke and Malcolm
Locke. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons: Davis Hull
(Sandra) of Conception Bay, Gordon Hull (Juanita) of Little Bay Islands
and Dennis Hull (Carol) of Little Bay Islands; daughter, Dale Hull
of Bishop's Falls. Also leaving to mourn brothers: Gordon Locke,
Cecil Locke; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Army Citadel in Little Bay Islands on Sunday, May 9, 2010. Interment
was at the Interfaith Cemetery in Little Bay Islands. Pallbearers were

1924-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hazel
Beryl Penney announces her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale
on May 10, 2010 at the age of 85. Hazel was a member of the Home League,
Joy Fellowship, Salvation Army, Springdale. Hazel retired from Hotel
work in Thompson, Manitoba and Housekeeping at Springdale Hospital.
Predeceased by parents: Walter and Nellie Oxford; brother, George;
sister, daisy and great grandchild, Alanna. Left with fond and loving
memories are her husband, James; sons: Alwen (Joyce) of Springdale,
Everett (Evelyn) of Thompson, Manitoba, Baxter (Diane) of Springdale;
daughters: Wavey (Clyde) of Springdale, Bessie (Otto) of Pine River,
Manitoba and Bonnie (Mervin) of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn:
sisters, Norma Dove and Rita Foss; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren
and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Majors Gerald and Doreen Lacey conducted
the funeral service from the Salvation Army Citadel in Springdale on
Thursday, May 13, 2010. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery.

WINSOR, FRANK
December 12, 1915-May 10, 2010
It is with sadness that the family of the late Leonard Frank
Winsor of Triton, announce his passing on May
10, 2010, at the age of 94.
Frankie, as he was affectionately called, was born December 12, 1915
to Victor and Lily Winsor. He married Greta Fudge and together they
had six children. He retired from his job as maintenance worker in
Ontario and was proud to be a member of the Orangemen. Besides his
parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Greta, daughter Margaret,
sons William and David (infant), and daughters-in-law Wendy and Virginia.
He leaves to mourn sons Stafford (Pauline), Sidney (Margaret), Bernard,
Clifford (Eleanor), and sister, Mabel Fudge, 18 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other relatives and
friends. Major Larry Fudge conducted the funeral service from the Salvation
Army Citadel, Triton, with interment following at the Triton Community
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cecil Winsor, Hubert Roberts, Don Budgell,
Warrick Winsor, Lawrence Budgell and Perry Budgell. Funeral arrangements
were entrusted to Gail Noel and Leander Hewlett of Green Bay Funeral
Home, Springdale.

1921-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond
Edward Dicks announces his passing at his home in Springdale on May
17, 2010 at the age of 88. Raymond was a devoted family man. He worked with
the A & D Company, McNamara, Lundrigan's, Gullbridge Mining
and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Raymond retired from
the Trade School at Springdale in 1986. Predeceased by brothers John
and Garfield Dicks and sisters: Lillian Vardy, Annie Newman, Maud Dicks
and Ida Kelly. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Hope
Dicks; sons, Steadman Dicks (Linda) of Labrador City; daughters: Marina
Dicks of Corner Brook, Trudy Anthony (Keith) of Robert's Arm

SMITH, HAYWARD HENRY
1927-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hayward
Henry Smith announces his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale
on May 18, 2010 at the age of 83. Hayward was a fisherman in his later
years. He was a life long residence of King's Point. Predeceased
by, parents: Joseph and Eunice Smith and brother-in-law Plemen Rideout.
Left with fond and loving memories are: his wife Jessie Rowena Smith
(Rideout) of Valley Vista Springdale, brothers: Joseph (Bonnie) and
Robert Smith of King's Point, two nephews Joseph and James Smith
and numerous relatives and friends. Rev, Donna Hann conducted the funeral
service from the United Church in King's Point on Friday, May
21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Interment was in the Interfaith Cemetery in King's

ROBBINS, GEORGE E.G.
1918-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late George
E.G. Robbins announces his passing at the Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale
on May 18, 2010 at the age of 91. George retired from working in the
woods for Bowater's. Predeceased by son Wesley; sister May; brother
Fred. George was born in Burlington to Bessie (Goudie) Robbins and
Jimmy Robbins; he received his formal education in Burlington. His
family relocated to Port Anson in 1933 when their home and family business
was destroyed by fire. In Port Anson George met and married Lucy Rideout.
They were blessed with two children; Wes who passed away June 7, 2005
and June who resides in Port Anson. George worked as a wood cutter
for the Bowater's paper company until he retired at the age of
65. He spent time at many different wood camps in several parts of
the province. In order to get to Badger to take the train to his work
site, George would walk from Port Anson to Badger. In addition to his
paid work in the lumber woods, George always planted a garden to provide
food for his family and he cut grass and stored hay for his horse's
needs. George enjoyed picking berries, trouting, visiting the shoreline
to beachcomb and exploring brooks and waterfalls. When he was no longer
able to get out in the woods, George enjoyed feeding the birds at his
bird feeders near his house. He had a keen mind and a ready wit. He
leaves with fond memories his own grandchildren and many others who
loved and respected him enough to call him grandfather. Left with fond
and loving memories are: wife Lucy, daughter June (Esau Hewlett); granddaughters:
Jill Hickey and Joelle Hewlett, grandsons Jimmy Robbins and George
Robbins, daughter-in-law Betty Robbins. Rev. Patricia Melindy conducted
the funeral service at Grace United Church in Springdale on Saturday,
May 22, 2010. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery at Port Anson.
Pallbearers were: Jimmy Robbins, Joelle Hewlett, Jason Morey, George
Robbins, Jill Hickey and Dolf Morey. Honourary pallbearer was Jesse

Greta Verge announces her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center
in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 28, 2010 at the age of 76. Myrtis was
a member of the W.M. Group, Pentecostal Church, Beachside. Predeceased
by mother and father, Freeman and Mary Toms; husband, Fred Verge; two
infants; brothers, Carl, Claude, Ray and Colin and sister, Ruby Matthews.
