MORRISON, ROSE
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Rose Oxford (Lundrigan) announce her passing at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s on May 3, 2008 at the age of 53. Rose was a member of the Salvation Army. Rose worked at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex. Predeceased by father, Nelson Lundrigan; Baby Boy Matthews (grandson), nephew, baby boy Bruce John and sister-in-law, June. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Gerald; sons, Gerry Oxford (Krista) of Lloydminister and Dion Oxford (Erinn) of Toronto; daughters, Donna Matthews (Rodney) of Springdale, Jennifer Wells (Chad) of St. John’s, Joy Matthews (Joel) of Carbonear and June Brown (Dwight) of St. John’s. Also leaving to mourn mother, Suzanna Lundrigan of Little Bay, mother-in-law, Greta Oxford of Springdale; sisters, Georgina Bouzane (Greg) of Little Bay, Jean Bennett (Vincent) of Red Lake, Alberta; brothers, Ed (Judy), Vince, Carl (Barb), Kevin (Nancy), Gerard (Trudy) and Frank (Wanda); grandchildren, Jake, Abigail Rose, Chris and Cate; as well a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Majors Gerald and Doreen Lacey conducted the funeral service from the Salvation Army in Springdale on May 7, 2008. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Oxfords Place. Pallbearers were her brothers, Ed Lundrigan, Kev Lundrigan, Carl Lundrigan, Gerard Lundrigan, Frank Lundrigan and son, Gerry Oxford. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

KINDEN, STANLEY HOWARD
Passed peacefully away May 4, 2008, Stanley Howard Kinden at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 87. Mr. Kinden retired from Memorial University Extension Service and was a member of South Brook United Church. Predeceased by wife, Sophie (Dalton) Kinden. Left to mourn are son, Roy (Brenda) of South Brook, NL; and daughters, Hope (Lewis Rowsell) of South Brook, NL; Daphne of Etobicoke, ON; Joan of Iqaluit, NU. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Marie Sheppard (Eldon) of Embree and Alice Sharpe of Grand Falls-Windsor; six grandchildren, Darien Rowsell, Michelle Narynski, Joanne Slaney, Andy Butt, Jeremy Kinden and Brooks Brown; as well as six great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Barbara Noble conducted funeral services at the United Church, South Brook, May 7, 2008. Interment was at South Brook United Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Bill Weeks and Leander Hewlett, Green Bay/White Dove. Pallbearers were Roy Kinden, Darien Rowsell, Brooks Brown, Andy Butt, Jeremy Kinden, Lewis Rowsell.

STARKES, OLIVE BLANCHE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Olive Blanche Starkes announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 8, 2008 at the age of 93. Olive was a member of the United Church. Predeceased by her husband, Moody in 2004. Left with fond and loving memories are her son, Leonard and his wife Jean of Tizzard’s Harbour; grandsons, Jim (Tina) and Jason (Rose). Reverend Betty Robbins conducted the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on May 11, 2008. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Prole, Roy Oxford, Roy Normore, Ernest Paddock, Don Matthews and Howard Noble. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

JENKINS, STEADMAN
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Robert Steadman Jenkins (Stead) announce his passing at St. Clare’s Hospital in St. John’s on May 8, 2008 at the age of 75. Steadman retired from the Town of Springdale. Predeceased by parents, Herbert and Flossie Jenkins, sisters, Ruby Coombs and Pansy Thompson. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Marjorie (Weir); sons, Melvin (Shirley) of Lloydminister, Bruce (Florence) of Springdale, Robert (Nina) of Marathon, Ontario, Barry (Michelle) of Conception Bay South, and Donald of Lloydminister; daughters, Diane Penney (Baxter) of Springdale and Beverly Martin (Keith) of Dawson Creek. Also leaving to mourn sister, Ruth Taylor; grandchildren, Jamie, Mike, Patty-Lynn, Tara, Chris, Jeff, Lori-Lynn, Bradley, Kielyn, Cassidy, Samantha, Sabrina and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Caitlyn, Kyle and Joshua. Majors Gerald and Doreen Lacey conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel on May 12, 2008. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons – Bruce, Robert, Barry, Donald, son-in-law, Baxter Penney and nephew, Wayne Coombs. JOY, WILLIAM ALOYSIOUS
It is with great sadness that the families of the late William Aloysious Joy announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors’ Home in Springdale on May 8, 2008 at the age of 79. William was a member of the Knights of Columbus. William retired from his position as a heavy equipment operator in June of 1993. Predeceased by his parents; two sons; two brothers; and one sister. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Ellen of Springdale and his sons, Richard (Joan) of Manitoba, Claude (Linda) of Manitoba, William (Daphne) of Manitoba and Paul (Cathy) of British Columbus. Also leaving to mourn 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Eugene Morris conducted the funeral service at St. Patrick’s Parish on May 13, 2008. Interment was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Richard, Claude and Paul; grandson, Patrick and Tom Payne and Alphonsus Matthews. ENGLAND, BASIL CARL
Middle Arm, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Basil Carl England, age 70, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Monday, May 12, 2008. Predeceased by his father, Ford John England; brothers, Winston England, and Gary England; and parents-in-law, William and Maude Mitchell. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Ruby England, Middle Arm; children – Hughie England (Linda), Capele, NB, Rex England (Lorraine), Middle Arm, Geoff England (Faye), Grand Bank, June Ryan (Craig), Middle arm, Vincent England (Bernice), Capele, NB, Josephine Thomas (Charlie), and Connie England (Paul Ball), both of Middle Arm; grandchildren, Jenney (Danny) and Jennine; Travis (Kara), Tia and TeJay; Nicholas, Brittany, Cassidy; Cole; Blake and Gera; Jimmy-Lee and Thomasina; and Celeste and Paige; and great-granddaughter, Brie. BARRETT, LEO
Fleur de Lys, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leo Barrett, age 82, announce his passing at his residence in Fleur de Lys, NL on Monday, May 12, 2008. Predeceased by his parents, William and Suzanna Barrett; siblings, Vincent Barrett, Steve Barrett and Mary Barrett. Left with fond and loving memories are his cousins, Anthony Barrett (Susan), Fleur de Lys, special friend, Theresa Noftall, Fleur de Lys and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Joseph Tebsis conducted the Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church and Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fleur de Lys, on Thursday, May 15, 2008. Pallbearers were Anthony Barrett, Ron Barrett, Victor Barrett, Terry Shelley, Wayne Barrett and Roddie Walsh and the crossbearer was Steve Walsh. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton’s Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

FUDGE, GORDON LEWIS
Passed away May 14, 2008, after a short illness Gordon Lewis Fudge at the Valley Vista Seniors’ Home, Springdale. He was 88 years of age. Mr. Fudge retired from Abitibi-Price in 1985 and was a member of The Salvation Army, Triton/Brighton Corps. Predeceased by mother and father, four brothers, one sister, one grandson. Left to mourn are wife, Bertha, sons, Otto (wife, Cynthia) of Brighton, Gerald (wife, Loretta), of Brighton; daughters, Lorraine of Brighton, Sheila (husband, Ruben Barrett) of Monkstown, Christine (husband, Samuel Hawkins) of Flat Rock. Also leaving to mourn sister, Althea Fudge and brother, Roy Fudge, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Larry Fudge conducted funeral services at The Salvation Army, Triton, Sunday May 18, 2008. Interment was at Brighton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Bill Weeks and Leander Hewlett of Green Bay White Dove Funeral Home, Springdale. Gordon was a faithful member of the Triton/Brighton Salvation Army Corps. He retired from Abitibi-Price in 1985. Predeceased by mother and father, four brothers, one sister, one grandson and three children. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Fannie Pearl Sacrey, age 77, announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Monday, May 19, 2008. Predeceased by her daughter, Minnie Norman; son, Lloyd Sacrey; parents, Dawe and Daisy Bath; parents-in-law, Robert and Maude Sacrey; sister, Verna Hamlyn; sisters-in-law, Minnie Sacrey, and Bernice Bath; and brother-in-law, Ford Norman. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Andrew, Pacquet; children, Levitta Loveman (Carl), Springdale, Whyman Sacrey (Katie Mitchell), Pacquet, Wayne Sacrey (Kim), Wild Cove, Perry Sacrey (Lorraine), and Nancy Head (Lorne), both of Baie Verte; son-in-law, Edgar Norman, Pacquet; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. PAYNE, CLARA FRANCES

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clara Frances Payne, age 79, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Monday, May 19, 2008. Predeceased by her husband, William Payne; parents, Matthias and Elizabeth Mackay; siblings, Mary Ellen Skinner, Jack Mackay and Jim Mackay; brothers-in-law, Michael Skinner and Bill Singleton; grandchildren, Brian Payne, Ashley Payne and Myles Payne; and great-granddaughter, Destiny Hope. Left with fond and loving memories are her children, Aloysius Payne (Elaine), Springdale, Joseph Payne (Hilda), Baie Verte, Edward Payne, Harbour Round, Jeanette Pinksen, Baie Verte, and Anthony Payne (Stefina), Harbour Round; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. GRIMES, HAZEL PEARL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hazel Pearl Grimes announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors’ Complex on May 20, 2008 at the age of 86. Hazel was a member of the Salvation Army Church. Predeceased by her husband, Eric, sister, Mildred Jones; and brothers, Theophilus, Elihu, Clifford, Maxwell and Clayton Oxford. Left with fond and loving memories are her two daughters, Maureen (Wilbert Boone) of Conception Bay South and Nola (Robert Goyeche) of Toronto; three granddaughters, Donna Gomez, Darlene (Brian) Kerrigan and Dorene (Lawrence) Hookey; seven cherished great-grandchildren: Arianna, Emma, Abby, Marco, Jack, Ryan and Liam; brother, Wincel (Elizabeth) Oxford and sisters-in-law, Thelma Oxford, Lillian Oxford, Winnie Oxford and Gladys Oxford. Captains Weldon and Donna Hayward conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in Little Bay Islands on May 23, 2008. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery in Little Bay Islands. BENOIT, MAVIS MARIA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mavis Benoit from Brain Cancer, age 53, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side, on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Predeceased by father, Garland Pardy, infant brother, Gerald Pardy, and brother-in-law, Danny Sacrey. Cherished companion of Douglas Meilluer, beloved daughter of the late Garland (February 2008) and Ruby Pardy. Mavis will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Ruby Pardy; by her children and their partners: Connie (John), Toronto, ON, Danny (Allison), Jason (Anthony), Elvis (Jacqulin), Cory (Krista), all of Mississauga, ON; by her eight grandchildren: by her nine siblings: Boyde (Brigitte), Tate (Debbie), both of Brampton, ON, Paul, St. John’s, NL, Jacqueline (Denley), Jeff, both of Brampton, ON, Cathy (Shawn), Fort McMurray, AB, Joanne, Ming’s Bight, NL, Church (Lisa), and Lori (Scott), both of Brampton, ON; and by her 34 nieces and nephews. Mavis was the eldest of 11 children. She grew up in Newfoundland and came to live in Ontario at the age of 17, where she raised her family. She was a lover of nature and a champion of animals, including her five dogs. Mavis’s outgoing, happy nature, and love of laughter will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral ceremonies were held in Brampton, ON, on Saturday, May 24, 2008.

BOYD, HARRY (JEFFERY)
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Harry (Jeffery) Boyd announce his passing at his residence in Pilley’s Island on May 21, 2008 at the age of 39. Jeffery was employed by D & G Enterprises. Predeceased by his father, Melvin Boyd and sister, Susan Boyd. Left with fond and loving memories are his mother, Vivian Boyd and partner, B.J. Osmond. Also leaving to mourn brothers, Ted (Monique), Bill, Pat (Charlene); sisters, Jennifer (Steve), Jill (David); nephews, David Seth, Alex, Jeffery and nieces, Ashley, Danielle and Brooke. Captains Dwayne and Brandi LeDrew conducted the funeral service at the Pilley’s Island Salvation Army Citadel in Pilley’s Island on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dana Rice, Rod King, Wycliffe Boyd, Kirk Ryan, Ryan Whalen and Stephen Rideout. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Home.

YOUNG, GRAHAM
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Graham Young announce his passing at his home in Springdale on May 22, 2008 at the age of 72. Predeceased by parents, Robert and Ivy Young, sister, Marion and brother, Baxter. Left with fond and loving memories are his loving wife, Breta of Springdale and his daughter, Krista of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Also leaving to mourn are his sisters, Phyllis Carlson (Glen), Marie Bennett, Queen Bennett, Hope Cole (Leslie), Doris Bowers (Leslie); brothers, Pierce (Marie), sandy (Doreen), Cecil (Juanita) and Cameron (Golda) as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Lindsey Foster and Pastor Howard Head conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church in Springdale on May 26, 2008. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bert Rideout, age 82, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Thursday, May 22, 2008. Predeceased by his parents, Mark and Maude Rideout; four infant siblings; brothers, Harold Rideout and Cyril Rideout; parents-in-law, Willis & Emily Norman; and brothers-in-law, Henry Andrews, Ford Norman, and James Locke. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eileen Leah Jessie Ward, age 64, announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Predeceased by her daughter, Laurie-Ann Parsons; grandson, Laurie Chipp; parents, Wilbert and Dora Tilley; parents-in-law, William and Lucy Ward; special aunt, Jessie; siblings-in-law, Viola Tilley, Claude Ward (Lorraine), Ruby King, and James Ward; and nephew, Sheridan Tilley.
