SMITH, ELI OTTO
1938-2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eli Otto Smith announces his passing at the Central Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on March 5, 2011 at the age of 72. Eli retired from Carpentry. Predeceased by mother Leah Smith-Rowsell; brother, Wesley Smith and sister, Maud Burton. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife, Marion Smith; sons, Dwight (Tina) and Dwayne of Port Anson; daughters: Joan of Guelph, ON, Fern (Warrick Oxford) of Letete, NB, and Pam (Jason Morey) of Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn 8 grandchildren. Sister Bessie Noel and brothers: Nelson Smith, Sam Smith (Millicent), Sidney Smith (Lillian) and Rhodie Rowsell (Marie). Pastor Tyrone Ball conducted the funeral service from the Redemption Pentecostal Tabernacle in Port Anson on March 8, 2011. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Reggie Morey, Roger Morey, Jason Morey, Warrick Oxford, Zachary Taylor, Ivan Smith, Tony Rice and Dino Burton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

BURTON, MALCOLM
1939-2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Malcolm Burton announces his passing at the Hugh Twomey Centre in Botwood on March 13, 2011 at the age of 71. Malcolm was a member of the Salvation Army Men's Fellowship and J.O.Y. Fellowship. Malcolm retired from Kruger Ltd. in 1998. Predeceased by parents, Herbert & Margaret, one brother, and two sisters. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife, Ruby; sons: Raymond (Lorna) of Springdale and Mervin (Bonnie) of Springdale; daughter Kim (Ted) of Point Edward, NS. Also leaving to mourn brothers: Albert, Tim, Stanley, Harvey; sisters: Lillian, Myrtle, Lydia and Joyce; grandchildren: Debbie, Myra, Christopher; great-grandchildren: Justin, Codie and MacKenzie. Pastor Lindsey Foster conducted the funeral service from the Pentecostal Church in Springdale on March 16, 2011. Interment was at the Springdale Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harvey Burton, Stanley Roberts, Tim Burton, Albert Burton, Gerald Burton and Max Burton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

BURT, MARION EMILY
1933-2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marion Emily Burt announces her passing at the Central Nfld. Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on March 19, 2011 at the age of 77. Marion was a member of the Salvation Army Corps at King's Point. Predeceased by husband Arthur and brother James Rideout. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons: Bruce (Nina) of King's Point and Paul (Betty) of Saint John's; daughter Judy (Bruce) of King's Point. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren: Melanie, Krista, Stephen, Jerry, Aaron and Jonathan; great-grandchildren: Dillon, Nathan, Emma, Aliy and Violet; sisters: Alberta, Joyce, Audrey and Georgina; brothers: Roland, Dawson, Jerry and Ted, as well as a large circle of friends. Major Rex Paddock conducted the funeral service from the Salvation Army Citadel in King's Point on March 22, 2011. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Stephen, Jerry, Jonathan and Aaron and granddaughters, Melanie and Krista. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

VERGE, CALVIN CLAYTON
1927-2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Calvin Clayton Verge announces his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on March 24, 2011 at the age of 84. Calvin was a member of the Beachside Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by parents: Joseph and Catherine Verge and son Gilbert. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife, Gertrude; sons: David Locke (Selma) of Springdale, Marden Verge (Sharon) of Ft. McMurray, AB, Wade (Maxine) of Lewisporte; daughters: Marie (Howard Bennett) of Beachside, Jean (Freeman Young) of Springdale, Marion (Alphonsus Gillespie) of Mt. Pearl and Mary (Roger Young) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn Cathy, Rose, Tony, 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, brothers: Doyle, Carl (Marion), Gus (Lisa) and sisters: Daisy (Aldred) and Joan (Marden). Pastor James Landers conducted the funeral service from the Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle in Beachside on March 27, 2011. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marden Verge, David Locke, Howard Bennett, Freeman Young, Roger Young, and Wade Verge. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Young and Kenneth Verge. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

PROWSE, LESLIE WILLIS
1926-2011
Leslie Prowse
as born to Willis and Beatrice Prowse December 26, 1926 in Harry's Harbour, NL. He married Mavis Dicks on January 19, 1962 and together they raised five children. He lived in Langdon's Cove for most of his life. Leslie was a "jack of all trades" and spent many years working in a variety of occupations - fishing, construction, and carpentry, becoming well knows for his skill as a boat builder. He passed away on March 24, 2011, at the Valley Vista Senior's Complex where he had been a resident for a short time. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Besides his parents, Leslie was predeceased by brother Basil, sister Verbina, sons David & Dexter. He leaves to mourn wife Mavis, son Trevor (Rosalyn), Burlington, daughters Pansy (Sterling) Freake, Harry's Harbour, Edna (Glen) Newbury, Middle Arm, Wanda (Matthew) Wallace, Cold Lake, AB, Pamela (Allan) Achilles, Saint John, NB. The funeral service was conducted by Major Rex Paddock on March 26, 2011 from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Harry's Harbour. Pallbearers were his brother Gordon, son Trevor, sons-in-law Glen Newbury & Allan Achilles, granddaughter April Hiscock, and brother-in-law Fred Norman. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Noel and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home.

MORGAN, DOROTHY
May 15, 1931 - March 28, 2011

Dorothy was born to Abraham and Priscilla Morey on May 15, 1931 in Robert's Arm, NL. She married Ronald Colbourne in 1951 and together they raised two girls, Helen & Ruth. Ronald passed away in 1984 and ten years later Dorothy married Lawrence Morgan. She loved adventure, motor cycle rides, ski-dooing, fishing, boating and camping, yet was a very gentle person who loved to give away her homemade crafts. She was the first Soldier to be enrolled in the Robert's Arm Corps on June 1, 1947 and continued to be a faithful member of her church throughout her life. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband Ronald, son-in-law Dave, brother Joe, and brother-in-law Reg. She leaves to mourn husband Lawrence, daughters Helen (Dan) Suley, Ruth, step-son Cyril (Frances), step-daughter Donna, brother Charlie (Shirley), 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted by Majors Larry & Phyllis Fudge from the Salvation Army Citadel, Robert's Arm on Friday, April 1, with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Monica, Ivan & Stephanie Suley, Danny & Davina Croucher, and Ralph Mitchell. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Noel and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home.

HYNES, LILLIAN VERGE
1943-2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lillian Verge Hynes announces her passing at Reserve Mines in Nova Scotia on March 30, 2011 at the age of 68. Left with fond and loving memories are Carl Coombs; sons: Wayne Hynes (Danette) of Reserve Mines, NS, Brian Hynes (Barb) of St. John's, Draper Hynes (Natalie) of Shediac, NB, Kurt Coombs (Kathy) of Springdale; daughters: Madonna Hynes of St. John's, Sandra Rafferty (Patrick) of Calgary, AB, Juanita Lownsberry (Eugene) of Shediac, NB, Debbie Hynes (Glenn) of Calgary, AB, Anita Coombs (Edmund) of Springdale and Yvonne Coombs (Brian) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn Ryan, Kevin, Adam, Gary, Jasmine, Jordan, Jarod, Jayden, Jay, Chad, Brandy, Kea, Tyson, Danielle, Nathalie, Chantelle, Janelle, Lance, Lesley Ann and Gregory. Rev. Madonna Boone and Rev. Mildred Tobin conducted the funeral service from St. Luke's Anglican Church in Springdale on April 5, 2011. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery in Coffee Cove. Pallbearers were Ryan, Kevin, Jay, Joe, Ken and Eugene. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
