PITTMAN, ALMA
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alma Marion Pittman announce her passing at the Central Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on January 1, 2010 at the age of 77. Alma was a member of the United Church Women. Predeceased by her son, Robert. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, John; sons: Jim (Ruby) of Ft. McMurray, Davis (Dallas) of Leduc, Bill (Wendy) of Wesleyville, Trent (Betty) of Calgary; daughters: Trudy (Hank) of Robert's Arm, Betty-Lou (John) of Brighton, Sherry (Harold) of Robert's Arm and Paula (Dale) of Marathon, Ontario. Also leaving to mourn 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Reverend Joan Brinston conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel on January 4, 2010. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Trudy, Betty-Lou, Jim, Sherry, Davis, Bill, Trent and Paula. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

MOORES, HUBERT H.
Burlington, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hubert H. Moores, age 83, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Saturday, January 2, 2010. Predeceased by his parents - Jordan & Caroline Moores and step-mother - Sarah Moores. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife - Margaret, Burlington, NL; children - Sharon Moores, Burlington, NL, Hayward Moores (Sandra Atkinson), Hamilton, ON, Michael Moores (Christine Elliott), Middle Arm, NL; daughters-in-law - Beverly Moores, Smithville, ON and Gladys Moores, Little Bay Islands, NL; grandchildren - Rona Moores, Terri-Lynn Ryckman (Jason), Brenda-lee Ryckman (Justin), and Damien Moores; great-grandchildren - Breanna, Jason, Tyler & Taylor Ryckman; a number of cousins and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Boyce Elliott conducted the funeral service at Riverside United Church, Burlington, NL on Monday, January 4, 2010. Interment followed at the Perry's Cove Cemetery, Burlington. Pallbearers were sons - Hayward Moores & Mike Moores; nephews - David Perry, Earl Perry, Harry Perry & Jerry Perry. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton's Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

PARSONS, SANDRA
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sandra Fern (Ryan) Parsons announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on January 2, 2010 at the age of 58 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sandra was a member of The Word of Life Tabernacle in Robert's Arm. Sandra retired from Fishery Products International, Triton, NL. Predeceased by parents, Roland and Jessie Ryan; infant granddaughter, Sarah Card and father-in-law, Harold Parsons. Left with fond and loving memories is her husband, Clayton Parsons and daughters: Sandie Card (Laurier) of Robert's Arm and Cindy Vincent (Blair) of Robert's Arm. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren: Jessica Vincent, Ryan Card, Jake Vincent; brother: Cecil Ryan (Pansy); sister, Vera Norman (Cecil); mother-in-law, Carmen Parsons; niece, Carolyn Wiseman (wade); nephews, Danny and David Ryan and special family friend, Philip Rice (Benita). Pastor Robert Paddock and Pastor Wayne Noble conducted the funeral service at the Word of Life Tabernacle in Robert's Arm on January 5, 2010. Interment was at the Robert's Arm Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Philip Rice, Wayne Rice, Cecil Normore, Harold Oake, Rodney Gray, Jonathan Winsor, Wade Wiseman and Carl Paddock. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

WALKER, JOHN B.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late John B. Walker announce his passing at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion in St. John's, on January 3, 2010 at the age of 90. John (Jack) was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and The Knights of Columbus. Predeceased by wife Kitty. Left with fond and loving memories are his sons: John Walker, Jr. (Leone) of St. Julien's and Steven Walker, (Debbie) of St. Patrick's; daughters: Margaret O'Driscoll (Paul) of Mount Pearl, Lillian Dwyer (Clem) of Tilting and Juanita Foley (Frank) of Tilting. Also leaving to mourn 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, niece Francis (Walker) Buchanan and a large circle of extended family and friends. Father Morris conducted the funeral service at Sacred Heart Parish in St. Patrick's on January 6, 2010. Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul O'Driscoll Jr., Daryl Walker, Trevor Foley, Philip Broff, Bradley Rowe and Andrew Walker. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

LEDREW, ELLA JANE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ella Jane LeDrew announce her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Centre in Springdale on January 10, 2010 at the age of 87. Ella Jane LeDrew was a member of the Robert's Arm Salvation Army Corps. Predeceased by her husband, Robert; brother, Ronald; sisters, Clara and Lydia; parents, Janet and James Maye; brother-in-law, Chester Slade and son-in-law, Rick Vincent. Left with fond and loving memories are her daughters: Yvonne of Nicholsville, Betty (Fred) of Robert's Arm, Lorraine (Al) of Howley, Daphne of Manitouwadge, Ontario and Faye (Roy) of Barachois Brook. Also leaving to mourn 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Lieut. Tina Dominaux conducted the funeral service at the Robert's Arm Salvation Army Citadel on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Robert's Arm. Pallbearers were: Al Curlew, Monique Henstridge, Roy Keating, Kerri Kemp, Chris Parsons and Mike Parsons. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

MITCHELL, ROLAND GEORGE

BURTON, EMILY (Maud)
1927-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maud Emily Burton announces her passing after a short illness at the Green Bay Health Care Centre in Springdale on January 16, 2010 at the age of 82. Maud was a longstanding member of the United Church. Predeceased by her husband, Howard; son - Gerald; grandson, Gerald and brother, Wes Smith. Left with fond and loving memories are her children: sons, Neville (Donna) of Deer Lake and Joe (Darlene) of South Brook and daughters; Shirley Blundell (Del) of Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Peggy Burton of South Brook, Brenda Burton (Christian) of Edmonton, Alberta and Ruth-Ann Jordan (David) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also leaving to mourn 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Bessie Noel, brothers; Nelson Smith, Eli Smith (Marion), Sam Smith (Millicent) and Rhodie Rowsell (Marie). It is with great sadness that the family of the late Francis Decker, age 95, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte on Friday, January 22, 2010. Predeceased by his wife - Rebecca Decker; great-grandson - Matthew Al; parents - Joseph & Alice Decker; step-father - Pearce Decker; siblings - Dorothy Hillier, Mary Ivany, Joe Decker, William Decker; step-brother - Francis Decker. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Olive Jessie Dicks, age 77, announce her sudden passing as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Burlington, NL on Friday, January 22, 2010. Predeceased by her husband - Woodrow Dicks; parents - Robert Clarke & Florann King; son-in-law - Ben Sacrey; daughter-in-law - Maureen Dicks; siblings - Dora Regular (Allan), Lillian Rice (Johnney), Gordon Clarke; sister-in-law - Tamer Clarke. STRICKLAND, DONALD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Abram Strickland announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on January 23, 2010 at the age of 72. Donald Strickland was a member of the Salvation Army Pilley's Island Corps. Donald A. Strickland worked as a cook on different boats most of his life until retiring in 1993. Predeceased by his wife, Annie; mother, Florrett and father, John. Left with fond and loving memories are his brothers, Edmund (Joyce), Hayward (Sadie) and niece, Linda and Fraser Smith. Lieutenant Tina Dominic, assisted by Major and Mrs. Johnson conducted the funeral service at the Pilley's Island Salvation Army Citadel on January 26, 2010. Interment was at the Pilley's Island Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews: Barry Strickland, Hank Strickland, Paul Fifield, Steven Burton; brother, Uncle Edmund and friend, Harold Hillyard. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear, Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

PENNEY, CECIL LEANDER FRANK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecil Leander Frank Penney, age 62, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Predeceased by his parents - Leander & Melinda Penney; siblings - Stella Shiner (Herbert), Ida Farrell, and Fred Penney; parents-in-law - James & Daisy Prouse; siblings-in-law - Clarence Mitchell and Frederick Prowse. Pallbearers were Dwight Penney, David Young, Keith Penney, Graden Shiner, Jim Young & Dwane Shiner. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton's Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

VERGE, IRA
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ira G. Verge announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on January 28, 2010 at the age of 89. Ira was a member of the United Church in Harry's Harbour. Ira retired from logging and fishing. Predeceased by his father and mother, Amelia and George Verge, brother, Graydon and sister-in-law, Janet. Left with fond and loving memories are his half-brother, Otto Verge (Lulu), nine nieces and four nephews as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Reverend Donna Hann-Harris conducted the funeral service at the United Church in Harry's Harbour on January 31, 2010. Interment was at the Community Cemetery in Harry's Harbour. Pallbearers were Vincent Verge, Otto Verge, Dwight Verge, Reginald Verge, Craig Verge and Mark Verge. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
