It is with great sadness that the family of the late M. Muriel Vanie Starks, age 80, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Thur., Jan. 1, 2009. Predeceased by her husband, Cyril Starks; parents, Arthur and Delcie Humphries; siblings, Alfred Humphries, and Alice Abbott; parents-in-law, Harris and Emma Starks; siblings-in-law, Millicent Humphries, Maxwell Inder, Mary Humphries, Norman Abbott, Ward Starks, and Jean Freake; niece and nephews, Gail Sceviour, Robert Abbott, and Glenn Starks. BURTON, RAYMOND FORD
Pacquet, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Ford Burton, age 68, announce his passing at his residence in Pacquet, NL on Thur., Jan. 1, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, Job and Sarah Burton; and siblings, Austin Burton, Edna Spencer, Mildred Vaters, and Harry Burton. PENNEY, ALBERT EDWARD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edward Penney announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on Jan. 6, 2009 at the age of 83. Edward was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Springdale. Predeceased by wife – Doris Geraldine Penney. Left with fond and loving memories are his son, Bruce (Eileen) of Springdale and grandson, Warren T. Penney. Pastor Howard Head conducted the service at Central Funeral Homes on Jan. 9, 2009. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Basil Saunders, Cyril Goudie, Boyce Wells, Jim Huxter, Cecil Young and Otto Burton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

BARRETT, KEVIN PATRICK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kevin Patrick Barrett, age 54, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Sun., Jan 11, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, John Thomas and Mary Barrett; siblings, Leonard and Theresa Barrett; and father-in-law, Gerald Barrett Sr. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Paula; children, Jennifer and Devin, all of Fleur de Lys, NL; siblings, Edward “Ned” Barrett (Marina), and Joe Barrett (Anne), both of Sparwood, BC, Steven Barrett (Dorothy), Fleur de Lys, John Barrett (Donna), Sylvan Lake, AB, Joan Mills (Ray), Hinton, AB, Mike Barrett (Cynth), Whitbourne, Mary-Ellen Kirk (Jim), Truro, NS, and Fred Barrett, Fort McMurray, AB; mother-in-law, Mary Barrett, Chetwynd, BC; siblings-in-law, Gerald Barrett (Deanna), Fraser Lake, BC, Larry Barrett, Fort McMurray, AB, and Wanda Lee Lavers (Scott), Port Saunders; many nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. LEDREW, HOWARD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Howard Samuel LeDrew announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on Jan. 12, 2009 at the age of 69. Predeceased by father, Joshua; mother, Nellie; and brother, Lindy. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Ruby; sons, Darren (Rochelle) of Triton, Deago (Tena) of Triton, Desi (Terri Lynn) of Triton and Dylan of Triton; and daughter, Danielle (Jerry) of Triton. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Gaye (Rex), Hallie and Gladys (Tom); grandchildren, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Jagger, Sammy and Bo. Majors Larry and Phyllis Fudge conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in Triton on Jan. 15, 2009. Interment was at the Evergreen Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cyril William Gray, age 93, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Mon., Jan. 12, 2009. Predeceased by his wife, Madeline; granddaughter, Diane Burton; parents, Thomas George and Margaret Gray; siblings, Leander Gray, Robert Gray, Triffie Gray, Eric Gray, Maxwell Gray, and Audrey May; parents-in-law, Nicholas and Olive Dicks; and siblings-in-law, Henry Foss, Chesley Foote, Lucy Gray, Claude May, Woodrow Dicks, Clarence Dicks, Lewis Dicks, Bert Dicks, Phyllis Dicks, and Garland Pardy. PACKWOOD, JOHN THOMAS
Woodstock, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Thomas Packwood, age 91, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Wed., Jan. 14, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, Cambria and Virtue Packwood; step-mothers, Bertha Packwood and Dorcus Packwood; sisters, Julia and Alfreda Packwood; and parents-in-law, Eli and Annie Pilgrim. KELLEY, ALBERT W.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert W. Kelley announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on Jan. 17, 2009 at the age of 88. Predeceased by parents, Permenus and Violet Kelley; wife, Florence Kelley; and sons, Calvin and Tanner. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Alice Kelley; sons, Victor (Ruby) of Springdale, Lester (alma) of Bishop's Falls, Earland (Daisy) of Sheppardville, Terry (Louise) of South Brook, Barry (Roxanne) of King's Point; daughters, Madeline (Ammon Norris) of Newtown, Stella McKay (Mike) of South Brook and Wavey Sheppard (Terry) of Fort Nelson, B.C. Also leaving to mourn the Heath family, 30 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a large circle of family and friends. Reverend Joan Brimston conducted the funeral service at the Centennial United Church in Robert's Arm on January 21, 2009. Interment was at the King's Point Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Larry, Barry, Victor, Lester and grandsons, Jarvis McKay, Dwayne Kelley, Dylan Kelley, Ricky Kelley and granddaughter, Michelle McKay. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear, Marilyn Stuckless and Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

BUTT, MARY ANN
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ann Butt announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on Jan. 19, 2009 at the age of 80. Mary Ann was a life member of the United Church Women. Predeceased by parents, Lewis and Medora Murphy; brothers, Ronald Murphy and Cyril Hobbs. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Henry and special nieces, Gwen Randell (Wayne) and daughters, Jillian of Oakville, Ontario and Iris Pynn (Baxter) and daughter Paula, (Jamie) of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn nephews, Barry Murphy (Tanya), Jamie Murphy (Christine), Everett Hobbs (Helen), Craig Hobbs (Joann); nieces, Beverly Noftall (Paul), Karen Earle (Eddie), Ferne Downey (Lawrence); brother-in-law, Eldred Butt (Louise); and sister-in-law, Madeline Tulk. Reverend Patricia Melindy conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church in Springdale on Jan. 21, 2009. Interment was at the United Cemetery in Springdale. Pallbearers were Wayne Randell, Baxter Pynn, Paul Noftall, Edward Earle, Craig Hobbs and Jamie Murphy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

MCQUIGGAN, WINNIE M.
(Retired University of Toronto – Library Administrator)
Died peacefully on Wed., January 21, 2009 at Toronto Western Hospital in her 97th year, Winnie M. McQuiggan, much beloved wife of the late Kenneth McQuiggan (1999). Winnie was born in Boot Harbour, Newfoundland on March 19, 1912 to Willis and Lydia (nee Ledrew) Wiseman. She is survived by her sister, Hazel Halloway and Doris Andrews. Loving aunt of Joan, John and David and to her great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her sister, Nellie Simms; her brother, Berkley Wiseman and by her nephew, Sam Andrews. In accordance with Aunt Winnie's wishes there will be a private family gathering to remember her. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial gifts to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

WELLS, GRACE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Grace Wells announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on Jan. 23, 2009 at the age of 88. Grace was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by husband, David Wells, daughter, Irene Baker; and sons, Clifford Wells and Simon Wells. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons, Pleaman Wells (Annie) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarence Wells (Shirley) of Grand Falls-Windsor, John Wells (Ellen) of Vancouver, David Wells of Springdale, Boyce Wells (Mavis) of Springdale, Derrick Wells of Brampton, and Austin Wells of Springdale; daughters, Jessie Sullivan (Maurice) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Violet Greer (Ian) of North Bay and Hilda Wells of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn sister, Lily, 51 grandchildren and 60 plus great-grandchildren. Pastor Lindsey Foster, along with Pastor Howard Head, conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church in Springdale on Jan. 26, 2009. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery on Grand Avenue. Pallbearers were her children Boyce Wells, Jessie Sullivan and Violet Greer and grandchildren, Don Baker, Donna-Lynn Lacroix and Eileen Sullivan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment, Marilyn Stuckless and Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.

SIMMS, MARY LEAH
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Leah Simms announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on January 25, 2009 at the age of 91. Mary was a member of the Maranatha Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by husband – Raymond Simms. Left with fond and loving memories are: her sons – George (Elizabeth) of Ottawa, Edward (Rose) of Red Sucker Lake, and Howard (Patricia, deceased) of Triton; daughter – Lily Strickland (Arthur, deceased) of Robert's Arm. Also leaving to mourn: brother, Frank Windsor; sister, Mable Fudge (Roy), 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Pastor Jeffrey Elliott conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church on January 28, 2009. Interment was at the Jim's Cove Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Barry Strickland, Bill Simms, Raymond Simms, Myles Simms, Shane Simms and Allister Simms. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mike Goodyear, Marilyn Stuckless and Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.

WHALEN NEWMAN, LOVELETT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lovelett Whalen Newman announce her passing at the Central Health in Springdale on January 25, 2009 at the age of 83. Lovelett was a member of the Pentecostal Church of South Brook. Predeceased by: husband – Bernard Whalen; parents – George and Maud Grant; two brothers and four sisters. Left with fond and loving memories are: her son – Lewis Whalen (Beverly) of Yellowknife and daughters – Fay Moyle (Ray) of Squamish, B.C., Oveta Hopkins (Dave) of Marathon, On., and Ina Drake (Perry) of St. Patrick's. Also leaving to mourn 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, husband – Pearce Newman and family. Pastor George Hilliard and Pastor William Harnum conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church in South Brook on January 30, 2009. Interment was at the South Brook Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Joe Whalen, Crystal Moyle, Melanie Campbell, Terrance Campbell, Jim Hibbs and Chantal Hopkins. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

ROWSELL, SANDY SELBY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sandy Selby Rowsell announce his passing at his home in Springdale on January 29, 2009 at the age of 69. Sandy was a member of the Springdale Pentecostal Church. Sandy retired from Iron Ore Company of Canada, Labrador City. Predeceased by his mother – Olive Rowsell and grandparents – Warrick and Naomi Rowsell and Pleman and Fanny Hewlett. Left with fond and loving memories are: his wife – Barbara; foster sons – Jason Blake of Labrador City, Shawn Blake of Labrador City and foster daughter – Kimberly Kohlmeister of Goose Bay. Also leaving to mourn: father – Arthur Rowsell at Springdale; sisters – Fanny (Gerald Fudge), Elsie (Wesley Caravan), and Ivy (Pastor Bruce Mills) of Miles Cove; brothers – Warrick (Dorothy) of Miles Cove, Malcolm (Vida) of Clarenville and foster grandchild – Adrian Kohlmeister. Pastor Benjamin D. Brown conducted the funeral service at the Miles Cove Pentecostal Church on February 1, 2009. Interment was at the Miles Cove Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were his brothers, Warrick Rowsell, Malcolm Rowsell, sisters, Fanny Fudge, Elsie Caravan, Ivy Mills and nephew, Chad Caravan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Home Springdale.
