Passed away Jan. 2, 2008, peacefully, Celia Wiseman at Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale. She was 86 years of age. Predeceased by husband, Reuben; daughter, Ivy; son, Randy; parents, Herbert and Maude Fudge; sisters, Lavina Fowlow, Wavey Fowlow; brothers, Alonzo and Cyril. Left to mourn are: sons, Heb (wife, Patsy) of St. Johns, N.B., Freeman of Robert’s Arm, Pleman (wife, Gail) of Robert’s Arm, Otto (wife, Thelma) of Robert’s Arm, Ivan (wife, Leona) of Robert’s Arm; daughters, Vida (husband, Dyson Elms) of Seal Cove, Pansy (husband, Ronald Delaney) of Corner Brook, Effie (husband, Fred Colbourne) of Robert’s Arm, Rowena (husband, Brian Manning) of Torbay, NL, Leona (husband Gary Stuckless) of Seal Cove, Gladys (husband, George Parmentar) of Fort McMurray. Pastor S. Simms conducted funeral services at World of Life Tabernacle, Robert’s Arm, Saturday, January 5, 2008. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. TUCKER, ROBERT (BOB)
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Robert (Bob) Roland Tucker announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale on January 6, 2008 at the age of 76. Robert retired from fishing in 1993. Predeceased by parents, Ralph and Margaret; brothers, Walter and Stanley. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Betty; two sons, Jerry (Shirley) of Little Bay Islands and Melvin (Suzanne) of Little Bay Islands; two daughters, Sharon (Albert) of Little Bay and Shirley (Randy) of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Ruth (Barry) and Marion (Clayton); brother, Edwin (Vine); five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; as well as many other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the families of the late Lillian Roberts announce her passing at the Valley Vista Nursing Home in Springdale on January 14, 2008 at the age of 89. Lillian was a member of The Salvation Army, Springdale. Predeceased by her husband, Pierce Roberts; infant son; and parents, John and Maggie Locke. Left with fond and loving memories are her two sons, Cyril Roberts of Little Bay Islands and Randy Roberts (Maxine) of Waterloo, Ontario; seven daughters, Dorothy Button (Alf) of Springdale, Ruby LeDrew of Bishop’s Falls, Olive Coish (Lorenzo) of Summerford, Violet Folkes (Ed) of Springdale, Betty-Lou Topping (Jim) of Springdale, Wavey Colbourne (Dennis) of St. Patrick’s and Beulah LeBlanc (Mike) of Toronto. OXFORD, NORMAN LEWIS
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Norman Lewis Oxford announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on January 19, 2008 at the age of 79. Norman was a member of the Springdale Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by his son, Dale. HEWLETT, ROBBY DWAYNE
Passed away Jan. 19, 2008 after a short illness Robby Dwayne Hewlett at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 38 years of age. He was a miner in Red Lake, ON. Predeceased by infant son, Christopher; grandparents, Eliel and Effie Parsons; and grandfather, Gordon Hewlett. Left to mourn are wife, Dawn; son, Jonathan of Robert’s Arm; and daughter, Sarah of Robert’s Arm. Passed away January 23, 2008, after a lengthy illness, Verna Vivian Rowsell at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 49. Predeceased by parents, Hayward and Rowena Rowsell; and brother, Albert. Left to mourn are sisters, Shirley (Clarence Wells), Effie (Wallace Hewlett), Lorena (Jim Rowsell); and brothers, Wallace (Shirley), Cameron (Effie), David (Shirley), Keith (Yvonne); and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Ben Brown conducted funeral services at Miles Cove Pentecostal Church on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Miles Cove. PAYNE, UNA MILDRED
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Una Mildred Payne announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on January 23, 2008 at the age of 94. Predeceased by husband, Edwin Payne; and son, Roy Payne. Left with fond and loving memories are her two sons, Max Payne (Doreen) of Burlington, Ontario and Garry Payne (Doreen) of Pilley’s Island; daughter, Joan Rice (Woodrow) of Pilley’s Island. Also leaving to mourn 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sister, Joyce and three brothers, Cyril, Mervyn and Edward. Predeceased by his parents, Stephen & Ethel Furey; siblings, Agnes Furey, Stephen Furey, and William Furey; sisters-in-law, Fran Furey & Juanita Furey; and nephew, Jason Furey. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Theresa, Hamilton, ON; daughter, Leah Furey, Hamilton, ON. PYNN, AMAZIAH
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Amaziah Pynn announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale on January 25, 2008 at the age of 84. Amaziah was a member of the Salvation Army Church. Amaziah retired from George Warr Limited. Predeceased by sisters, Myrtle and Blanche; and brother, Albert. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Velma; two sons, Corey Pynn of Ontario and Fred Pynn (Kathy) of Manitoba; one daughter Judy Hamilton (Greg) of Springdale. Also left to mourn grandchildren, Tyler, Garrett, Emily, Amy and Keiza; and great-granddaughter, Kamryn. PENNEY, KENNETH
Passed peacefully away at home on Sunday, January 27, Kenneth Penney, age 57, after a long courageous battle with cancer with his loving family by his side. Predeceased by his father, Kenneth, St. Anthony; and his mother, Nita (nee Vivian), St. John’s. Leaving to mourn his best friend and wife, Lily B. Cole; sons, Stephen and Tyler; daughter, Heather. Also leaving to mourn on his father’s side step-mother, Vera Penney, Centerville; Uncle Douglas Penny, St. Anthony; Aunts Violet Wight and Maisie Smith, St. John’s; cousins, Ed Smith, Springdale; Gerry Curnew, Arthur Wight, Pat Kean, and Nita Ludlow, St. John’s; Melba Rumbolt, Halifax; Marion Budgell, Pasadena; Ed Penny, St. Anthony. On his mother’s side Aunt Rachel Vivian, Old Bonaventure; cousins, Eric and David Vivian and Heather, Ottawa. Also leaving to mourn mother-in-law and father-in-law, Piercey and Mildred Budgell, Baie Verte; sisters-in-law, Gertie Banks (Glynn) and Jo-ann Decker, Sparwood, B.C.; brothers-in-law, Harry Budgell (Rose), Fort McMurray; Daryll Budgell (Heidi), St. John’s. Also mourning Ken’s passing are a large circle of close friends, students, and members of the Marystown Lions Club. Rested at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Tuesday January 29 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday January 30 and Thursday January 31 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Ken’s life took place on Friday, February 1 at 2 p.m. from the Carnell’s Memorial Chapel.
