MALONEY, CYRIL
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Cyril Maloney announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale on December 4, 2007 at the age of 76. Cyril was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Cyril retired from Labourer. Predeceased by mother, father, step-mother and four brothers. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Marguerite Maloney; and daughter, Wanda-Lee of Little Bay. Also leaving to mourn sister, Liz; foster sister, Rita Donovan; and mother-in-law, Betty Dobbin. Also special friends, Francis Joy, Gerald Bouzane and Mary Bartlett. Father Eugene Morris conducted the funeral service at the Roman Catholic Church in St. Patrick’s on Friday, December 7, 2007. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in St. Patrick’s. Pallbearers were Elmo Taylor, Faron Clarke, Kenneth Lasaga, Paul Bouzane, Richard Bouzane and Ron Bouzane and Neil Armstrong. Honourary pallbearers were Ryan Tucker, Brad Dobbin, John Baker, Jim Maloney, Joe Maloney and Sean Dobbin. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

WISEMAN, RONALD CHESLEY
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Ronald Chesley Wiseman announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on December 9, 2007 at the age of 77. Ronald was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Predeceased by parents, Sidney and Ethel; son, Harry Scott; daughter, Betty Joanne; and two brothers, Jack and Harry. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Nellie; and daughter, Susanne of Deer Lake. Also leaving to mourn granddaughter, Natasha (Andre); great-granddaughter, Isabelle; brother, Tom (Phyllis); and sisters, Grace Penney (Walter) and Marion Downton; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Reverend George Gard conducted the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Interment was at the United Cemetery in Springdale. Pallbearers were Jose Wiseman, David Weir, Hedley Grimes, Harry C. Wiseman, Colin Weir and Roy Oxford. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

ROBERTS, ARTHUR CECIL
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Arthur Cecil Roberts announce his passing at his home in Triton on December 10, 2007 at the age of 78. Arthur was a member of Men’s Fellowship, Orange Lodge and the Salvation Army Triton Corps. Arthur retired from fishing. Predeceased by mother and father, Emma and George; brother, Gerald; and two grandsons, Ty and Garrett Roberts. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Vivian; four sons, Perry (Joan) of Triton, Clyde (Christine) of Triton, Avery (Mary) of Triton, Derwin (Dana) of Triton; two daughters, Yonna (Steve) of Triton and Sheila (Travis) of Triton. Also leaving to mourn eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six brothers; two sisters; and a large circle of family and friends. Major Larry Fudge conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church in Triton on December 13, 2007. Interment was at the Triton Evergreen Cemetery in Triton. Pallbearers were his sons, Perry, Clyde, Avery and Derwin; son-in-law, Travis; and grandson, Colden. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

POLLETT, MAMIE
Passed peacefully away Tuesday, December 11, 2007, Mamie Pollett of Springdale at 89 years. Predeceased by husband, Ellis; son, Ellis Jr.; and daughter, Bernice. Left to mourn are sons, Bernard (Debbie) of Corner Brook, NL, Ted (Patsy) of Hamilton, Ont., Don (Donna) of Gander, NL and Wayne (Rexine) of Gander Bay, NL; daughters, Lorraine ( Roy) of Gander, NL, Betty (Harlow) of Mount Pearl, NL, Judy (Keith) of Springdale, NL, and Renee ( Wayne) of Kamloops, BC. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Millicent and Nellie; and brother, Selby; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Gerald Lacey conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel in Springdale, Saturday December 15, 2007. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale. Funeral arrangements were by Leander Hewlett, Bill Weeks and Gus Walsh of Green Bay Funeral Home, White Dove. Pallbearers were her five sons, Weldon, Bernard, Ted, Don and Wayne; and son-in-law, Roy.

WISEMAN, EDWARD PATRICK
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Edward Patrick (Ned) Wiseman (formerly of Croque) announce his passing at his daughter’s residence (Irene) in Springdale on December 12, 2007 at the sage of 92. Edward Wiseman retired from fishing. Predeceased by his mother and father; wife, Theresa; brother, Joe; and sister, Joan Porter. Left with fond and loving memories are his fours sons, Edward Jr. of Calgary, Patrick of Croque, Dave (Danita) of Esponola, Ont., and Robert (Tracey) of Marystown; five daughters, Lucy Byrne (Vincent) of Conche, Gertie Hunt (Francis) of Conche, Philomena Shelley (Stephen) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Irene Rose (John) of Springdale and Nellie O’Neill (Bill – deceased) of St. John’s. Also leaving to mourn sister, Mary Joy of Croque; sister-in-law, Edna Wiseman of Roddickton; 35 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Father Devas conducted the funeral service at the Sacred Heart Parish in Conche on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Conche. Pallbearers were sons, Patrick and Robert; grandson, Leonard Wiseman; nephews, Gerard Joy and Tom Wiseman and Don Wiseman. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

MAYE, KENNETH
Passed away December 12, 2007, Kenneth Maye at the Springdale Hospital, age 75. Mr. Maye retired from fishing in 1996. Left to mourn are wife, Evelyn; sisters, Lucy Tucker and Hilda Bath; brother, Harold (Golda) and Uncle Stafford Stoodley; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Gerald and Doreen Lacey conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army, Springdale on Friday December 14, 2007. Interment was at King’s Point Interfaith Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Green Bay Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Alvin Adams, Don Maye, Roger Parsons, Roy Prole, Tony Tucker, and Wayne King.

PITTMAN, HARRY
Passed away December 18, 2007, after a lengthy illness, Harry Pittman of Springdale, at the Valley Vista Seniors Home. Mr. Pittman retired as a heavy equipment operator in 1995. Predeceased by wife, Frances; and parents, Leonard and Emma Pittman. Left to mourn are son, Brian (Cindy) of Ajax, ON; daughters, Shirley (Colin Brown) of Toronto, ON, Captain Doreen (Captain Duane Colbourne) of Birchy Bay, NL, and Denise (Adam Sheppard) of Newmarket, ON. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Ruby, Daphne (Hughie), Ina (Bob), Jacqueline (Charlie), Bonnie, Pauline ( Harvey), Margaret and Norma; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Gerald Lacey conducted the funeral services at The Salvation Army, Springdale, NL, on December 22, 2007. Interment was at Grace United Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by White Dove Funeral Home, Leander Hewlett, Gus Walsh, and Bill Weeks. Pallbearers were Brian Pittman, Colin Brown, Captain Duane Colbourne, Adam Sheppard, Michael Sheppard, and Jamie Sheppard. Honourary pallbearers were Danielle Colbourne, Justin Pittman and Kerri Brown.

RIDEOUT, ROBERT THOMAS
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Robert Thomas Rideout announce his passing at the Green Bay Medical Center in Springdale on December 19, 2007 at the age of 76. Robert Rideout was a member of the Unite Church in Robert’s Arm. He retired from being self-employed in the logging business. Predeceased by parents; brothers, Lawrence, George, Donald and Ford; and sister, Ida. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Hilda; sons (Keith) Wendy of Robert’s Arm, David (Sue) of Latchford, Ontario, Kevin of Robert’s Arm and Gary (Gloria) of Robert’s Arm; daughter, Nancy (Sherman) of Robert’s Arm. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren, Roxanne, Robbie, Melissa, Jacob, Maria, Spencer, Jodine, Jane and April; sisters, Dorcas Paddock, Gwen Short and Blanche Morris; sister-in-law, Marie Burton (Albert); and brothers-in-law, Clarence Foster (Audrey), Otto Foster (Chloe) and Junior Foster (Loretta). Barbara Noble conducted the funeral service at the United Church in Robert’s Arm on December 23, 2007. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Keith Rideout, Kevin Rideout, David Rideout and Gary Rideout; grandson, Spencer; and granddaughter, Maria. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

DICKS, WILBERT “GEORGE”
La Scie, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilbert “George” Dicks, age 75, announce his passing at his family residence in La Scie, NL on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. Predeceased by his parents, Warrick and Elizabeth Dicks; brother, Lloyd Dicks; sister, Lillian Mae Dawe; parents-in-law, James and Beatrice Rideout; brothers-in-law, Allan Morgan, Lester Dawe, and John Snow; sisters-in-law, Tina Snow and Alma Rideout; and nephews, Dean Morgan, Lester Short, and Abram Mills. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Edith; children, Warrick Dicks, La Scie NL, Glynn Dicks (Lisa), St. Stephen, NB, and Alex Dicks (Nola), La Scie, NL; grandchildren, Donna Sacrey, Dwayne Gray, Tyler Gray, Kristan Dicks and Rachel Dicks; siblings, Rose Morgan, La Scie, NL and Stella Pelley (Ted), King’s Point, NL; siblings-in-law, Jean Dicks and Ross Rideout (Evelyn); many nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Harry Oake conducted the funeral service at Zion United Church and Cemetery, La Scie, NL on Saturday December 22, 2007. Pallbearers were Dwayne Gray, Tyler Gray, Nola Gray, Jamie Rideout, Donna Sacrey and Pauline Hurley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton’s Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

WELLS, WILLIAM HENRY
It is with great sadness that the families of the late William Henry Wells announce his passing at the Springdale Medical Centre in Springdale on December 25, 2007 at the age of 83. William Wells was a member of the Salvation Army. Predeceased by his wife, Josephine E. Wells on March 6, 2007. Left with fond and loving memories are his three sons, Merlyn Wells (Lise) of Springdale, Terry Wells (Mary) of Thompson, Manitoba and Clayton ( Marion); and daughter, Juanita Wells of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren, Kitty, Angela, Patty, Marilee, Carley Ann, Katie, Melanie, Cassity, David, Tammy and Richard Paquette and Nakita Smith; great-grandchildren, Billy Joe, Shawn, Emily, Alexis and Dominick. Majors Gerald and Doreen Lacey conducted the funeral service at the Central Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 28, 2007. Pallbearers were his son, Merlyn; daughter, Juanita wells; nephew, Ward Johnson; Clayton Tulk; granddaughter, Tammy Paquette; and Jeremy Dolson. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes. Special thanks to Dr. Gadhafi and nursing staff of Springdale Medical Centre and Pastor George Hillyard.

GOUDIE, RALPH
Passed away December 25, 2007 peacefully after a lengthy illness Ralph Goudie at Green Bay Hospital Springdale. He was 67 years of age. Mr. Goudie retired from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper in 1998. Predeceased by mother, Salome; father, Amos; stepmother, Alma; brothers, Melvin and Roy; and nephew, Rex Goudie. Left to mourn are wife, Bonnie Goudie; sons, Kent (wife Lorinda) of Springdale, NL, Craig of Dartmouth, NS and Richard of Robert’s Arm, NL; daughters, Kimberly (husband Shawn Grimes) of Miles Cove, NL, Crystal (husband Pernell Fudge) of Triton, NL. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Alfreda Mitchell, Patsy Muise (Ernie), Gwen Cool (Lloyd), Stella Hamlyn (Roy) and Jayne Earle (Wylie); sister-in-law, Lillian Goudie; and brothers, Robert (Shirley), William (Joan), Edward (Phyllis) and Harvey (Lola); seven grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Shane Simms conducted funeral services at Word of Life Tabernacle, Robert’s Arm, NL on Dec. 28, 2007. Interment was at Pentecostal Cemetery, Robert’s Arm. Funeral arrangements were by Bill Weeks, Leander Hewlett and Gus Walsh of White Dove Funeral Home in Springdale. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Grimes, Zachery Taylor, Nicole Goudie, Hayley Fudge and Christopher Vincent.

BURTON, JESSIE ELIZABETH
It is with great sadness that the families of the late Jessie Elizabeth Burton announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on December 26, 2007 at the age of 98. Jessie was a lifetime member of the Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor. Predeceased by husband, Francis; her 16 year old brother; mother, Elizabeth Burton; and father, Arthur Burton. Left with fond and loving memories is her daughter, Christine of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Also leaving to mourn are nieces, Christina Pelley of Springdale and Leah Pelley of Miramichi, New Brunswick; Flossie and Samuel Newbury of King’s Point, and family and friends in Grand Falls-Windsor and Twillingate. Reverend Howard Crooks conducted the funeral service at the Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor on Saturday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at the interfaith Cemetery in Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Eugene Osmond, Ray Critchly, Harold Butt, Dave Dawe, Merrick Chipp and Bert Elliott. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes. The Family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at the Valley Vista for their care and commitment. Jessie will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

HOBBS, HERMAN JOHN
Passed peacefully away on December 29, 2007 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Herman Hobbs at the age of 73 years. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lily Hobbs; son, Bobby, grandson, Blake; and son-in-law, Romeo. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Ethel; daughters, Carol Ann (George) Moores, Pauline (Roy) Roberts, Geraldine (Allan) Roberts, Bessie (Perry) Budgell all of Triton and Cavelle (Graydon) Heath of Springdale; grandchildren, Peter, Adam, Bobbi, Beth, Carla, PJ, Damian and Alexia; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alana, Kaleb and Micah. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Dorothy Evans and Shirley (Otto) Roberts; special step-father, Baxter; and several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Visitation took place from the Salvation Army Citadel, Triton on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service was held on Monday, December 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Majors Larry and Phyllis Fudge officiating. Interment at the Evergreen Community Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

PAYNE, HERBERT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Herbert Payne announce his passing on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale in his 83rd year. He will sadly be missed by his loving family: his children, Miriam Arrelle of New Brunswick, Beulah Payne of British Columbia, Clarence Payne, Joy Lee both of Newfoundland, Ernest Payne of British Columbia, Sherry Townsley of Ontario and Tina Rice of Alberta; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Effie Parsons of Newfoundland and Louise King of USA; also a large circle of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Mr. Payne was predeceased by his children, Edgar and Meryl; parents, Fred and Irene Payne; and six brothers, Wilbert, Dexter, Pleaman, Emerson, Robert and Hayward. Visitation took place on Wednesday January 2, 2008, from the Salvation Army Church in Pilley’s Island where also the funeral service took place on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Elliott and Captain Dwayne LeDrew officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.
