STARKES, FLORENCE -
Passed away December 1, peacefully, Florence N. Starkes at Valley Vista, Springdale. Mrs Starkes retired from teaching in 1973. Predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter, brothers, and sister. Left to mourn is son James (Trudy) of South brook. Also leaving to mourn: sister Belle McDonald; one grandchild; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Davis conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church, Springdale on December 4, 2000. Interment was at the Nipper's Hr. United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lewis Rowsell, Everett Pitts, Barry Jackman, Kelvin Kelleher, Harv Tuck and Rick LeDrew.

OSMOND, ALBERT GEORGE
SPRINGDALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert George Osmond announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Centre, Springdale on Saturday, December 2, 2000, at the age of 80 years. Mr. Osmond retired from employment at the Springdale hospital in 1985 after 31½ years of service. Predeceased by two brothers and four sisters. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Grace; sons Ivan (Shirley) of Grand Falls-Windsor and Murray (Patricia) of Gander; five grandchildren - Peter, Susan, Gavin, Mark and Nicole; sister - Nellie Mugford, Clarke's Beach and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Marion Davis, assisted by Captains Brian and Betty Thomas, conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church, Springdale on Tuesday, December 5, 2000. Interment was at the Grace United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Huxter, Calvin Mckay, Roy Normore and Lloyd Weir (AOTS), Philip Clarke and Baxter Ford (employees of the Green Bay Health Care Centre).

KNIGHT, DORIS IRENE
SPRINGDALE

Passed away accidentally on December 4, 2000, Doris Irene Knight at the Green Bay Health Centre, Springdale. She was 72. Predeceased by husband Everett and brothers Will and Harry. Left to mourn are: sons Robert (Shirley) of Rattling Brook and Roger (Dianne) of Springdale; daughter Donna (Tony) of Springdale and niece Tracy (Geoff) of Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Nellie, Lillian, Grace, Ada and Lorraine; brothers Fred, Jim, Roy, and Harold; seven grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Marion Davis conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church, Springdale on December 8, 2000. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shawn Tizzard, Stephen Huxter, Danny Huxter, Rennie Normore, Dave Normore and Ken England.

OXFORD, PEARCE NORMAN
SPRINGDALE

Passed away December 7, 2000, peacefully, Pearce Norman Oxford at home in Springdale at the age of 77 years. Mr. Oxford retired from the Green Bay Health Care Centre in 1987. Predeceased by: son Terry; daughter Suzanne; parents; two sisters and one brother. Left to mourn are: wife Marie and son Barry (Dorothy) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn: brother Merrick; grandchildren - Megan and Leslie; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Capt. and Mrs Gary Butt conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Springdale on Sunday, December 10, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Oxford, Gerald Oxford, Aubrey Penney, Byron Saunders, John Saunders and Claude Bowers.

RICKETTS, AUGUSTUS -
Passed away peacefully, Augustus Ricketts, at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte. He was 86. Augustus was born at Westport, White Bay on Feb. 24, 1914 to Alexander Ricketts and Rosanna Stuckless. He was predeceased by: wife Elizabeth (Betty); two brothers - Walter and Herman; and sister Ruby. Left with fond and loving memories are; sons - Tom (Thelma), Labrador City; Gerald (Dona), Edmonton, AB and Don (Margaret), Cold Lake, AB; daughters - Shirley (Gerald), Westport and Linda (Marcel), Contrecoevr, Que. Also leaving to mourn: Sisters - Gertrude and Minnie; step mother Mary; four half sisters - Ruby, Rosie, Patsy and Jose; 11 half brothers - Edward, Winston, Allan, Gilbert, Frances, Clayton, Morris, Wayne, Brian, David and Derrick; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild (Jody at Westport); and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Morley Boutcher conducted the funeral service at the Anglican Church, Westport. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery.

PYNN, ERMYNTRUDE
HARRY'S HR.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ermie Pynn, age 63, announce her passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home, Springdale on December 10, 2000. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Cecily Wareham and brother Douglas. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband Scott; sons - Lavern (Donna) of Springdale and Wilson (Dana) of Springdale; sisters - Maisie Freake (Clarence), Springdale and Betty Taylor (Elgin), Springdale; brothers - Hedley Wareham (Ruby), Deer Lake, Harry Wareham (Daisy), Gander and Edison Wareham (Geraldine), Gambo; grandchildren - Felicia and Patrick; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lieut. Spurrell conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church, Harry's Hr on Tuesday, December 12, 2000. Interment was at the Jackson's Cove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cecil Webber, Chester Batstone, Ross Osmond, Frank King, Sidney Freake and Harry Knight.

HURLEY, RHODIE WAYNE
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rhodie Wayne Hurley, age 25, announce his passing on December 11, 2000 at his residence in Baie Verte. Predeceased by: father - John M. Hurley; grandfathers - Leonard Freake and Michael Hurley; and grandmother - Kathleen Hurley. Left with fond and loving memories are: mother - Ellen, Baie Verte; brother - Brian (Deanna Hotveth). Fort McMurray, AB; sisters - Jacqueline Foster (Blair), Port Colbourne, ON, and Ada Ford (Wish), Baie Verte; Nephews - Matthew and Joshua; niece - Sandy; grandmother - Cecilia Freake; nan- Mary Kate Hurley; and best friend - Mark Seymour. Also leaving to mourn many aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte on December 14, 2000. Interment was at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Cemetery Coachman's Cove. Pallbearers were Knights of Columbus - Mark Fitzgerald, Dave Hoven, Tom Flemming. Fabian Downey, Greg Terry, Bill Drover and the Crossbearer was his brother - Brian Hurley.

BOYLES, DAVID GEORGE
SOUTH BROOK

Passed away December 14, 2000 peacefully, David George Boyles at the Green Bay Health Centre, Springdale. He was 48 years old. Predeceased by brothers Gerald and Marshall. Left to mourn are: parents George and Sadie of South Brook; sisters June Biles (Dennis), Bonnie Ivany (Michael), Donna Faulkner (Jody), Lisa Boyles (Andre) and Ruby Arnold (Bill); brothers Clyde and Selby. Also leaving to mourn: nine nephews; seven nieces; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Vanzel Quinlan conducted the funeral service at the Apostolic Faith Church, South Brook on December 17, 2000. Interment was at the Apostolic Faith Cemetery, South Brook. Pallbearers were Dwight Fifield, Paul Newman, Vince Newman, Trent Newman, Archie Morey and Darren Tucker.

BATSTONE, MELVIN WILLIE -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melvin Willie Batstone, age 64, of Turks and Caicos Islands, BWI, announce his sudden passing on December 17, 2000. Mr. Batstone retired from the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans in 1996. Predeceased by his parents Cyril and Annie Batstone. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Nellie Batstone; daughters - Marina (Glen Winsor) of Lower Sackville, NS, Judy (Daniel Tremblay) of Turks and Caicos Islands, BWI and Beverly-Ann (Wade Andrews of St. John's, NF. Also leaving to mourn four granddaughters and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Robert Hamlyn conducted the funeral service at the Maranatha Pentecostal Church, Triton on December 27, 2000. Interment was at the Community Cemetery, Head's Hr. Pallbearers were Roy Prole, Claude Hibbs, Seward Anderson, Fred Oxford, Chesley Roberts and Terry Froude.

BUTT, ANNIE BEATRICE
LA SCIE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Beatrice Butt, age 78, announce her passing on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at her family residence in La Scie. Left with fond and loving memories are husband - Eleazer; sons - Roy (Beryl), La Scie, Ray (Barbara), La Scie; daughters - Gladys Proole (Gerald), Harry's Hr., Georgina Martin (Gord), La Scie, Gloria Freake (Baxter), Paradise; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Kean conducted the funeral service at Zion United Church and Cemetery, La Scie on Friday, December 22, 2000. Pallbearers were UCW members - Neta Price, Elaine McKenna, Kathleen Critch, Glenda Goulding, Ethel Critch and Rowena Morey.

BURTON, MINNIE BLANCHE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Minnie Blanche Burton, age 82, announce her passing on Saturday, December 24, 2000 at her residence in La Scie. She was predeceased by her husband - Moses; parent - James and Lucy Ward; brothers - William Ward, Claude Ward, Lorenzo Ward and Alex Ward and sisters - Elsie Ward, Gertrude Burton, Janet Loder and Gladys Parsons. Left with fond and loving memories are sister - Marie Burton (Roland), La Scie; sisters-in-law - Margaret Ward, La Scie and Mary Kate Burton, Baie Verte, many nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Kean conducted the funeral service at Zion Unite Church and Cemetery. La Scie on Thursday, December 28, 2000. Pallbearers were nephews - Sidney Greenham, Ford Ward, Garland Ward, Bond Burton, Jim Burton and Lloyd Burton.

MITCHELL, ALFREDA MAY
WOODSTOCK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alfreda May Mitchell, age 68, announce her passing at the BVPHC on Sunday, December 24, 2000. She was predeceased by her parents - George and Esther Decker and brother - Chesley Decker. Left with fond and loving memories are husband - Roland; sons - Boyce (Ella), Lloydminister, AB; Harry (Dory), David (Ivy), and Henry, all of Woodstock; daughters - Joan Decker (Ford), Woodstock and Juanita Sacrey (Tony), Pacquet. Also leaving to mourn brother - Sterling Decker, Woodstock and sister - Caroline Mitchell (Peter), Woodstock; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends Lieuts. Chris and Claudette Pilgrim conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Woodstock on Wednesday, December 27, 2000. Pallbearers were MacKenzie Mitchell, Pearce Mitchell, Rex Mitchell, Tom Mitchell, Reginald Mitchell and Chesley Mitchell.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Irene Parsons, age 81 announce her passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home in Springdale on Sunday, December 24, 2000. Predeceased by husbands - Thomas Parsons and Percy Locke and son Cecil as well as brothers, Willis, Sandy, Pierce and sister Leah. Left with fond and loving memories are sons - Willis Locke (Violet), Little Bay Islands; step-son Leonard Young, South Brook. Also leaving to mourn daughter-in-law Zelda Locke of Little Bay Islands; step-daughter Beulah Pardy, La Scie. Also leaving to mourn sisters - Annie Lush, Triton; Lulu Forsey, Deer Lake and brother - Eric Roberts of Triton; four grandchildren; Bill of Montreal; Perry (Kim), Beverly (Kirk), Jody, all of Little bay Islands; four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brianna, Klye and Shane and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lieut. Brandy Letual conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church, Little Bay Islands on Tuesday, December 26, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Irene Skinner, age 78, announce her passing at the BVPHC on Monday, December 25, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband - James, son - Walter and daughter - Dorothy. Left with fond and loving memories are sons - John T. (Ann Courtney), Patrick (Julia), Gregory (Gloria), Anthony (Agnes) and Norman, all of Harbour Round; Herbert (Sandra Hawkins), Grand Falls-Windsor; Desmond (Mary Joe), Toronto, ON; daughters - Margaret Breen (Lawrence), Coachman's Cove; Ann Welshman (George), Harbour Round, Bernie Healy (Bern), Grand Falls-Windsor and Alice Skinner, Harbour Round. Also leaving to mourn brothers - Lawrence Bouzanne (Vern), Pad Bouzanne; sisters - Margaret Armstrong, Nellie Terry and Frances Colbourne (Wilfred); 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. EARLE, HUGH HERBERT
SPRINGDALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hugh Herbert Earle, age 69, announce his passing on December 26, 2000. Mr. Earle retired from the Carpenters and Joiners of America and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 40. Predeceased by: mother Mary; father Edward and sister Mabel Heath. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Betty; sons Eddie (Karen) of Springdale, Kurt (Judy) of Thompson, MB and Ted (Marilyn) of Springdale; daughters June (Paul Williams) of Triton and Lynn (Alvin Fudge) of Thompson, MB. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Olive Clarke and Iris Dicks; brothers Ray and George Earle; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. M. Davis conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church, Springdale on Friday, December 29, 2000. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chesley Tizzard, Wayne Butt, Max Burton, Roy Mercer, Sherlock Dicks and Ray Earle.

BALDRY, STELLA KEAN -
Passed away suddenly at Southlake regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Thursday, December 28, 2000, Stella Baldry (Rideout) of Bradford at 72 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Harry Baldry. Dear mother of Senora Baldry. Dear sister of Lucy Robbins and Rita Oake both of Springdale, NF. and predeceased by many siblings. Funeral service was held at the Newton Robinson United Church on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at 2 p.m. followed by cremation.

REGULAR, STERLING -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sterling Regular, age 88, announce his passing at the BVPHC on Thursday, December 28, 2000. Mr. Regular retired from the Department of Transportation - Highways Division in 1977. He was predeceased by his parents. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Emma; daughter - Viola Foster (Ralph); son - Sandy (Doris), all of Ming's Bight; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Derrick Gale conducted the funeral service at Calvary Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Ming's Bight on Sunday, December 31, 2000. Pallbearers were Howard Elms, Calvin Greenham, Wayne Regular, Gid Regular, Ron Decker and Earl Regular.

DOWNEY, DANIEL FRANCIS
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daniel Francis Downey, age 81, announce his passing at the BVPHC on Friday, December 29, 2000. Predeceased by: parents - Mark and Ellen Downey; son - Eugene; brothers - Martin and John Joe; and sisters - Bessie Hoven, Mary Ann Breen, Joan Hoven, Loretta Fitzgerald and Ellen McPherson. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Marie; sons - Allan, Grand Falls- Windsor, Martin (Aggie Bolger), Fort McMurray, AB, Francis (Karen), Calgary, AB, Bernard (Margaret Haas), Baie Verte, Alphonsus, Calgary, AB, Alonzo (Valerie), Kamloops, BC; and daughter - Carmel Downey (Ernest Rice), Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn; sister - Cecillia Freake; grandsons - Damon, Trevor, David and Joey and a large circle of other relatives and friends Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Baie Verte on Tuesday, January 2, 2001. Pallbearers were - Francis Downey, Martin Downey, Mark Fitzgerald, Leo McPherson, Mark McPherson and Ernest Rice. The crossbearer was David Fitzgerald.

GREEN, MORGAN MAXWELL -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Morgan Maxwell Green announce his passing at CNRHC, Grand Falls-Windsor. Mr. Green retired from the Dept. of Fisheries in 1989 and was a member of The Black Lodge, The Orange Lodge, The Scarlet Lodge and the Salvation Army Men's Fellowship. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Beatrice; son Craig (wife Marta) of Toronto, ON and daughter Margaret (husband Paul) of Grand Bank. Also leaving to mourn are: sisters Anne, Betty, Rennie, Ruby; brothers Bruce and Wayne; three grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Capt. Gary Butt conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Springdale on December 30, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Summerford. Pallbearers were Arthur Jenkins, Conan Green, Dwight Brown, Bruce Green, Wayne Green and Craig Green.
