St. John's on Saturday, August 4, 2007. Predeceased by his parents, Anthony
and Bridget Butler; siblings, John Butler, Elizabeth Seymour, Anne Green,
Angela Brousseau, Theresa Klowososki, Christina Tucker, Marie Fyfe, Florence
Dwyer, Sheila Butler, Philomena Butler and Catherine “Kitty” Butler;
father-in-law, James Giles; and nephew, David Butler. Left with fond
and loving memories are his wife, Marjorie, Brent’s Cove; children,

Father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral mass at St. John the Apostle
Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Brent’s Cove, NL on Wednesday,
August 8, 2007. Pallbearers were Tony Butler, Michael Butler, Dwayne
Butler, Leo Seymour, Ron Giles, Sandy Fyfe and the crossbearer was Geoff
Thistle. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton’s Funeral
Home, Baie Verte.
WELLS, THEOPHILUS It is with great sadness that the families of the late Theophilus
Wells announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale
on August 15, 2007 at the age of 90. Theophilus was a member of the Salvation
Army Springdale Corps. Theophilus was retired from the Town of Springdale.
Predeceased by wife, Marie; parents, Reuben and Phoebe; sister, Rowena;
and two brothers, Harry and Edgar. Left with fond and loving memories
are his children, Dave (Marion) of Fort McMurray, Robert (Elsa) of Springdale,
Edgar (Geneva) of Springdale, Mary (Bill) of Kingston, Ontario, Reuben
(Suzanne) of Oromocto, Stephen (Diane) of Springdale, Wallace (Julie)
of Springdale, Edward (Beverly) of Springdale, and Rodney (Golda) of
Springdale, Edna (Roy) of Newstead, Darlene (Wilson) of Ottawa, Marilyn
(Bradley) of Leading Tickles and Shirley of England. Also leaving to
mourn two sisters, Nellie and Elizabeth (Truman); 25 grandchildren; 28
great-grandchildren; special friend, Marilyn Bonnier, and a large circle
of relatives and friends. Majors Gerald and Doreen Lacey conducted the
funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel in Springdale on Sunday,
August 19, 2007. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers
were his grandsons, Jason Chatman, Robert Chatman, Devon Chatman, Deno
Chatman, Leroy Hicks, and Ryan Peddle. Funeral arrangements were entrusted
to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
SMITH, PEARL MARIE It is with great sadness that the families of the late Pearl
Marie Smith announce her passing at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia on
August 19, 2007 at the age of 46. Pearl Smith was a member of the Springdale
Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by sister, Jean Young. Left with fond
and loving memories are her husband, Graham Smith; son, Bradley Smith;
parents, Pearce and Mary Burton and mother and father-in-law, Raymond
and Ruby Smith. Also leaving to mourn sisters: Marina Price (Edward),
Grace Burton; brothers: Boyd Burton (Olive), Calvin Burton (Karen) and
Melvin Burton. Pastor Lindsay Foster conducted the funeral service at
the Springdale Pentecostal Church on Thursday, August 23, 2007. Interment
was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Parsons, Glen
Budgell, Edward Price, Kevin Oxford, Byron Noble and Morris Young. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of

HURLEY, ETHEL DORIS
1930-2007
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ethel Doris
Hurley announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on
August 21, 2007 at the age of 77. Ethel was a member of St. Peter’s
Anglican Church in Westport and an active member for over 60 years with
St. Peter’s ACWA. Ethel was a beloved mother, grandmother and gifted
seamstress. She is predeceased by husband, Eliol; mother, Mary Osmond;
and grandparents, Thomas and Martha Hewitt. Left with fond and loving
memories are sons, Norman (Cavell) Hurley of Westport; Kevin (Daphne)
of Dartmouth, NS; Hubert (Kimberly) of Edmonton, AB; daughter, Ada Hurley
- Lockyer (Rev. Randy Lockyer) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to
mourn sister, Theresa (John) Brett; brothers, Douglas (Jessie) Osmond,
James (Louise) Osmond; nine grandchildren, Mark, Caroline, Peter, Daniel,
Candice, Brendan, Kirklind, Dylan, Adam; special friend, Leslie Jacobs.

Anglican Church in Westport on Aug. 25, 2007. Interment will be at St.

HEWLETT, CRUZ ELVIS EUGENE It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cruz
Elvis Eugene Hewlett announce his passing at Beaumont on August
24, 2007 at the age

It is with great sadness that the families of the late Cavell
Roberts announce her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale
on August 28, 2007 at the age of 75. Cavell was a member of the Women’s
Institute of Newfoundland and the United Church Women. Left with fond
and loving memories are her husband, Nigel Roberts; four sons, Barry
Roberts (Beverley) of Paradise, Wayne Roberts (Judy) of Sudbury, Andy
Roberts (Karen) of Whitecourt, AB, and Jeff Roberts (Rosalind) of Clarenville;
one daughter, Heather Smith (Dan) of Grande Prairie, AB. She also leaves
to mourn five sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild
and a large circle of extended family and close friends. Reverend Betty
Robbins conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church in Springdale
on August 31, 2007. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers
