KENNEDY, BRADLEY JAMES
COACHMAN’S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bradley James Kennedy, age 15, announce his tragic passing at Coachman’s Cove on Monday, August 2, 2004. Predeceased by his grandfather Leslie Traverse. Left with fond and loving memories are his parents Kathleen and Ignatius (Kay and Demps) Kennedy; brother Ryan; grandmother Violet Traverse; grandmother Mary Kennedy-Lavers; grandfather Leander Kennedy; uncles Melvin Lavers (Dolly). Port Saunders. Joe Kennedy (Alice), Corner Brook, Gary Kennedy (Judy), St. John’s, Eugene Kennedy and Dion Kennedy, both of Corner Brook, Larry Traverse (Paula) and Don Traverse (Louise), both of Fort McMurray, AB; aunts Lori-Ann Pittman (Boyd), Nora Kennedy (Jim), both of Corner Brook, Christina Leonard (Gerard), Yellowknife, NWT, Viola Lake (Lloyd), Fort McMurray, AB, Karen Traverse (Joanne), Pownal, PEI; cousins Chris and Natasha Traverse, Leslie Ann and Maggie Traverse, Ricky and Megan Lake, Natasha Kennedy, Christa Lucchese, Lana Green, Jody Rowsell, Adrian Kennedy, Debbie Osmond, Carla Vardy, Sami Kennedy, Emily and Brent Pittman, Tiffany Kennedy, Andrea Leonard, Tammy Coombs, Melvin Jr. and Scott Lavers and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Coachman’s Cove on Friday, August 6, 2004. Pallbearers were Joseph Kennedy, Gary Kennedy, Eugene Kennedy, Dion Kennedy, Adrian Kennedy, Don Traverse and the cross bearer was Tyler Breen.

STRICKLAND, ANNIE MARIE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Marie Strickland announce her passing at the GBHC, Springdale on August 3, 2004 at the age of 60 years. Annie was a member of the Salvation Army Home League Senior Group and War Cry Sergeant. Predeceased by mother Olive King and father Ralph Osmond. Left with fond and loving memories are husband Donald; sisters Myrtle (Lloyd), Makkovik, Labrador, Ruby, Rocky Harbour and Betty (Harold) Grand Falls-Windsor; brothers Gordon, Stephenville, Junior, Corner Brook and Ronald (Josephine), Springdale and a large number of other relatives and friends. Major Frank Johnson conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Pilley’s Island on August 5, 2004. Pallbearers were Tara Strickland, Niki Strickland, Shirley Young, Angie Fifield, Cathy Weir and Betty Jean Osmond.

ROWSELL, OLIVE JANE
It is with great sadness that the family of the Olive Jane Rowsell announce her passing at the valley vista Seniors Home, Springdale on August 6, 2004 at the age of 83. Olive was a member to the Miles Cove Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by mother, father and four brothers. Left with fond and loving memories are husband Arthur, sons Sandy (Barbara), Miles Cove, Warrick (Dorothy) Miles Cove and Malcolm (Vida), Embree; daughters Fanny (Gerald Fudge), Miles Cove, Elsie (Wesley Caravan), Miles Cove and Ivy (Pastor Bruce Mills), Stanhope. Also leaving to mourn brother Raymond Hewlett (Clarice); sisters Nellie Parsons, Ivy Goodwin and Elsie Cole (Bruce); 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three foster grandchildren and one foster great grandchild. Pastor Benjamin Brown conducted the funeral service at Miles Cove Pentecostal Church and Cemetery on August 9, 2004. Pallbearers were sons Sandy, Warrick and Malcolm Rowsell and daughters Fanny Fudge, Elsie Caravan and Ivy Mills.

BANKS, PEARCE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Pearce Banks, age 71, announce his tragic passing on Wednesday, August 11, 2004. Predeceased by parents William and Annie Banks; two infant babies; son Kirk; great granddaughter Skye Rice; brother Alfred; father-in-law Dennis Gavin and sister-in-law Jessie Banks. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Hazel; children Judy Rice (Bruce), Fort McMurray, AB and Foster (Lydia), Seal Cove, grandchildren Tina Walsh (Keith) and Tony Rice (Rozanne), Brandon and Kyndel Banks; great grandchildren Hailey and Matthew Walsh, Madison Gavin; mother-in-law Edith Gavin; brothers Elikam, Baie Verte and Edmund (Joan), Fort McMurray, AB and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. David Russell and Rev. Bill Rice conducted the funeral service at St. Swithin's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Seal Cove on Saturday, August 14, 2004. Pallbearers were Glen Banks, Stanley Banks, Gordon Parsons, Bill Parsons, Garry Rideout and George Osbourne.

TULK, WILBERT ALEX
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilbert Alex Tulk announce his passing at the CNRHC, Grand Falls-Windsor on August 11, 2004 at the age of 51. Wilbert was a fisherman. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Florence; son Corey of Jackson's Cove and daughter Kimberley of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn two brothers, six sisters and one grandson. Major Hollett conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church, Harry's Hr. on August 14, 2004 Interment was at the Community Cemetery, Jackson's Cove, Pallbearers were Cory Taylor, Byron Noble, Craig Gunn, Eric Tulk, Gerald Budgell and Barry Noble.

OXFORD, GUY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Guy Oxford announce his passing at the hospital in Springdale on August 13, 2004 at the age of 67. Guy retired from the District Vocational Trade School. Predeceased by parents Florence and Clifford; sisters Stella, Ida and Jean and b rother Jim. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Rose; daughters Rhonda (Brad Mouland), Lloydminister, AB and Lori (John Drover), Windsor, ON. Also leaving to mourn sister Alma (John Pittman) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Betty Robbins conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church and Cemetery on August 16, 2004. Pallbearers were Elmo Jones, Dennis Mouland, Gary Clarke, Bill Pitman, Phillip Clarke and Stedman Clarke.

HAAS, LEO EDWARD
BRENT'S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leo Edward Haas, age 62, announce his passing at the BVPHC, Baie Verte on Monday, August 16, 2004. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Elizabeth Haas; brother Harold; stepbrothers Ben, John, Michael and Raymond and sisters Marie and Margaret. Left with fond and loving memories are spouse Kay Beaton; children Debbie Domalain (Bobby), Sandra Sullivan (Albert), Nancy Haas (Vincent), all of Brent's Cove, Judy Haas (Sterling Verge), Parsons Pond, Carmel Haas (Paul Domalain), Brent's Cove), Leo (Jennifer), Thompson, MB, Sean (Trina Martin), Portage-LaPrarie, MB, mother to his children Mary Frances Haas, Baie Verte; grandchildren Mitchell and Matt Domalian, Chelsea and Nathan Sullivan, Sonya Haas, Sheldon Verge, Courtney Domalain, and Keinon Haas; brothers Patrick (Mary), Brent's Cove, Anthony, St. John's, Ben, Norris Arm, and Ronald (Joan), Mississauga, ON; sisters Anne Courtney (John), Hr. Round, Ellen Sullivan (Ronald), Thompson, MB, and Elizabeth Lush (Clarence), Norris Arm; step-sister Mary MacDonald (Don), Grand Falls-Windsor; sisters-in-law Liz-Ann Sullivan, Hr. Round, and Josephine Haas, Baie Verte; special niece Jackie Haas, Brent's Cove; brother-in-law Bern Downey, Baie Verte; many nephews and nieces and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral mass at St. John the Apostle R. C. Church and Cemetery, Brent's Cove on Thursday, August 19, 2004. Pallbearers were Gord Sullivan, Nathan Sullivan, Michael Courtney, Albert Sullivan, Roy Sullivan, Ben Martin and Cyril Sullivan. The crossbearers were Chesley Sullivan and Sheldon Verge.

BARRETT, VINCENT
Passed away August 18, 2004, Vincent Barrett at the BVPHC, Baie Verte. He was 82 years old. Mr. Barrett retired from fishing in 1987. Predeceased by mother Suzanna; father Billy; sister Mary and brother Steve. Left to mourn is brother Leo. Father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral services at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic and Cemetery, Fleur De Lys. Pallbearers were Anthony Barrett, Ron Barrett, Victor Barrett, Gord Walsh, Phonse Matthews and Bill Lewis.

JACOBS, MARY G. R.
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary G. R. Jacobs, age 73, announce her passing at the BVPHC, Baie Verte on Friday, August 20, 2004. Predeceased by husband Maxwell; son Christopher; parents William and Gladys; parents-in-law Samuel and Annie Jacobs. Left with fond and loving memories are children Wayne (Juanita), Roger (Viola) and Linda Law (Donald all of Baie Verte; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters Betty Toms (Arthur) and Gertie Harnum (Bill); brother Frazer March (Joan); her dear and special friends at the BVPHC – Residential Care Unit and a large circle of other relatives and friends. George Stockley conducted the funeral services at Bethany United Church and Cemetery, Baie Verte on Sunday, August 22, 2004. Pallbearers were Wayne Jacobs, Roger Jacobs, Don Law, Ralph Jacobs, Jerry Parsons and Clayton Hewlett

VINCENT, ALEX RON
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alex Ron Vincent announce his passing at the Valley Vista in Springdale on August 20, 2004 at the age of 84. Alex Vincent was a member of the S. A. Church and retired from Abitibi Price, Grand Falls-Windsor. Predeceased by wife Elsie; brother Bramwell; parents Norman and Janet. Left with fond and loving memories are son Roy (Golda), Labrador City and Daughter Trixie Blackmore (Bill). Also leaving to mourn brothers Otto (Ceclia), Harvey (Shirley) and Gordon (Phyllis); grandchildren Jason, Janice, Shelly and Sheldon; great grandchildren Andrew, Amy, Leium and Emma. Major Rex Colbourne conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Church, Triton on August 22, 2004. Interment was at the Triton Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews Jim Vincent, Corvin Vincent, Con Vincent, Prat Vincent, Travis Vincent and grandchild Sheldon Blackmore.

PAYNE, ROY WENDEL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roy Wendel Payne, Pilley's Island announce his passing at the General Hospital, Slave Lake, AB on August 21, 2004 at the age of 65 years. Roy retired after more than four decades working in the logging and construction industries. Predeceased by father Edwin Payne (1912 - 1989) Left with fond and loving memories are wife Linda; son Perry (Wanda), Pilley's Island; daughters Sandy (Dino Windsor), Triton and Allison (Stan Pepper), Slave Lake, AB; grandchildren Kyle and Victoria Payne and Mitchell and Emily Winsor. Also left to mourn are mother Una at the Valley Vista Senior's Home, Springdale; sister Joan (Woodrow Rice) and brothers Max (Doreen) and Gary (Doreen) all of Pilley's Island. Majors Frank and Jean Johnson assisted by Capts. Blaine and Darlene Hopkins conducted the funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Pilley' Island on August 26, 2004. Pallbearers were son Perry; sons-in-law Dino Winsor and Stan Pepper, brothers Gary and Max, brother-in-law Woodrow Rice and honourary pallbearer was grandson Kyle Payne.

MATTHEWS, MARCELLA
BAIE VERTE

Passed quietly away from this world on Sunday, August 29, 2004 to start her new journey home, Marcella Mathews, age 86. She was born at Carbonear on Sept. 20, 1917. Predeceased by husband Andrew; son Paul; parents Thomas and Margaret White; three brothers and four sisters. Left to mourn are her children, Margaret, Gerald (Sarah) both of Edmonton, AB, Ronald (Toni), Brendan, both of St. John's and Roy )Vivian), Winnipeg, MB; seven grandchildren; great grandchild Emma; a number of nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States; her dear and special friends at the BVPHC – Residential Care Unit and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Tom Duffenais conducted the funeral mass at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004. Marcella was laid to rest beside Andrew, her loving husband of 52 years, at St. Pius Roman Catholic Cemetery. Baie Verte. Pallbearers were Francis Breen, Gene Seymour, Mark Fitzgerald, Kenneth Breen, Kevin Drover, Paddy McNeil and the crossbearers were Monica Green and Andrew Drover.

OAKE, JEMIMA MATHILDA (nee CAMPBELL)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jemima Oake announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home, Springdale on August 30, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by her husband Woodrow. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Harold (Sandra), Robert's Arm and Ivan (Lavisa), Robert's Arm and daughter Joan (Sandy), Robert's Arm. Also leaving to mourn one sister; three brothers; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Captain Canning conducted the funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Robert's Arm on September 2, 2004. Pallbearers were Harold Oake, Ivan Oake, Clayton Parsons, Carl Paddock, Conn Vincent and Ross Rideout.
