JACOBS, CHRISTOPHER DAVID,
TORONTO (formerly of Baie Verte)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Christopher David Jacobs, age 40, announce his passing at his residence in Toronto on Thursday, August 16, 2001. Predeceased by his father Maxwell. Left with fond and loving memories are; his mother Mary, Baie Verte; sister Linda Law (Donald), Trenton, ON and brothers Wayne Jacobs (Juanita), Roger Jacobs (Viola), both of Baie Verte and Ron McCarthy, St. Anthony. Also leaving to mourn nieces and nephews Jeffrey Jacobs, Dena Jacobs, Sherry Blanchard, Diane Law, Tracey Sullivan-Payne, Laura Jacobs and Kerri Jacobs and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Marilyn Avery conducted the funeral service at Baie Verte Peninsula Funeral Home on Monday, August 20, 2001. Interment followed at Bethany United Church Cemetery, Baie Verte.

OXFORD, ALANNA ELIZABETH,
SPRINGDALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Baby Alanna Oxford, age 17½ months, announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre on Sunday, August 19, 2001. Predeceased by grandfather Ron Dempsey. Left with fond and loving memories are: mother Roslyn, father Byron; brother Aaron; grandparents Wavey and Clyde Oxford, Springdale and Florence Dempsey, Fleur De Lys; great grandparents Hazel and Jim Penney and Thelma Oxford; aunts and uncles Rhonda and Ron Campbell, Ontario, Gloria Dempsey, Baie Verte, Ronnie Dempsey, Fleur De Lys, Rene Dempsey, Fort McMurray, Dana and Kent Huxter, Calgary, Brian Oxford, Ontario, Dale and Deloris Oxford, Appleton; cousins Kasondra Brett, Kayla and Krista Grant and Amelia, Tyler and Tristen and Colton; and a large circle of family and friends. Majors Gary and Glenys Butt conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army, Springdale on Wednesday, August 22, 2001. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale. Pallbearers were Ronnie and Rene Dempsey and Brian and Dale Oxford.

GILLINGHAM, ALLAN,
PACQUET

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Allan Gillingham, age 85, announce his passing at the BVPHC on Tuesday, August 21, 2001. Predeceased by his parents George and Jessie Gillingham; step-mother Winnie Gillingham; half-brother Sidney Gillingham; grandson Allan John Thomas and brother-in-law Josiah Burt. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Alma; daughters Taffie Burton (William), Lewisporte, Yvonne Thomas (John), La Scie, Cassie Hall (Tony), Oakville, ON, Maureen Gavin (Doug), La Scie, and Roberta Zieleinger (Ed), Mississauga, ON; son Ivor Gillingham (Cindy), Pacquet; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn: sister Blanche Burt, Grand Falls-Windsor; brother Archibald Gillingham (Nora), Winterton; half-sister Grace Norman (John), Pacquet; half-brothers Ralph Gillingham (Louise) and Roy Gillingham (Kathleen), both of Fort McMurray, AB; step-sister Ada Norman (Horace), Pacquet; step-brothera Hughie Pollard, Grand Falls-Windsor and Robert Pollard (Phyllis) of La Scie; sister-in-law Kathleen Richards, La Scie; his special friends at the Baie View Manor and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Lionel Miles conducted the funeral service at Harvestime Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Pacquet on Friday August 24, 2001. Pallbearers were Quentin Thomas, Shawn Burton, Darryl Petten, Derrick Gillingham, Dyke Gillingham and Scott Milley.

RICE, VICTOR,
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Victor Rice, age 69, announce his passing at the CNRHC, Grand Falls-Windsor on Tuesday, August 21, 2001. Predeceased by his parents Stafford and Olive Rice. Left with fond and loving memories are: sisters Rebecca Norman (Malcolm), Pacquet, Jessie Hewlett (Adolphus), Blanche Hewlett (Titus) both of Baie Verte, many nieces and nephews and a circle of other relatives and friends. Marilyn Avery conducted the funeral service at Baie Verte Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday, August 24, 2001. Interment followed at Bethany United Church Cemetery, Baie Verte.

MILLEY, DOROTHY MAE,
SOUTH BROOK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Mae Milley announce her passing at the Springdale Hospital on August 22, 2001 at the age of 84 years. Dorothy was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal church, South Brook. Predeceased by: parents Obediah and Jessie Seaward; sons David and Leanard; daughter Lovetta; brothers Gordon Seaward and Edmund Seaward. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband Hubert; son Gordon (Kay) of South Brook; daughters Phyllis Mercer (Ralph, South Brook, Evelyn Burton (Wallace), Sudbury, ON and Ethel Young (Leonard), South Brook. Also leaving to mourn are: sisters Lillian Lambert and Myra Savoury; brothers Augustus and George Seaward; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pastor W. Harnum conducted the funeral service at the Calvary Pentecostal Church on August 26, 2001. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook. Pallbearers were Mrs Milley's home care workers - Ada Barnes, Marjorie Dicks, Rosalie Morey, Judy Gillingham, Anetta Fifield, June Biles, Pansy Fowlow, Nada Colbourne and Corrina Short.

JAMES, EDITH
Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt home on Monday, August 27, 2001, Edith James. Leaving to mourn; son Maxwell, wife Peg and family; daughter Dianne and family; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral at Little Bay Islands on Thursday, August 30, 2001.

GILLINGHAM, ETHEL MARY,
WESTPORT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ethel Mary Gillingham, age 69, announce her passing at the BVPHC, Baie Verte on Tuesday, August 28, 2001. She was predeceased by: parents George and Charlotte Hurley; son and daughter-in-law Ralph and Jaunita Gillingham and brothers Thomas, Alexander, William and Eliol Hurley. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband Ralph; daughters Gloria Locke (George), Westport and Norma Smith (Bill), Fort McMurray, AB and son George (Denise), Victoria, BC. Also leaving to mourn: sister Sophia Jacobs (Walter), Westport; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Sidney Payne conducted the funeral service at St. Peter's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Westport on Saturday, September 1, 2001. Pallbearers were Wallace Jacobs, Leo Jacobs, Hollis Jacobs, Grogan Ricketts, Cluny Ricketts and Dale Ricketts.

DICKS, GILBERT,
SOUTH BROOK

Passed away August 29, 2001, peacefully, Gilbert Archibald Dicks at Valley Vista, Springdale. He was 85. Predeceased by wife Pearl and sons David and Eldred. Left to mourn are: sons Willie (Olive), South Brook, Bert, Thompson, MB and Alvin (Glenys), Leaf Rapids, MB; daughters Violet (Roy Shiner), South Brook, Mildred (Melvin Burden), Woody Point, Jessie (Reg Gumbley), Sterling, ON, Ivy (Aubrey Oake), Roberts Arm, Kim, Grand Falls-Windsor, Jaunita (Cyril Smith), Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Bessie Grant, Irene Heath and Mildred Coombs; brothers Roy Dicks and Edward Dicks; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor W. Harnum conducted the funeral service at Calvary Pentecostal Church, South Brook. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doycen Shiner, Morley Shiner, Morris Parsons, Andre Roberts, Norton Burden, Eldred Dicks and Shannon Barrett.

BURT, RAYMOND
Passed peacefully away August 31, 2001, Raymond Burt at the CNRHC, Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 80 years old. Mr. Burt retired from Abitibi-Price in 1985 and was a member of the Orange Lodge, King's Point and also a member and honouray member of the Badger Fire Brigade. Predeceased by father Joseph Burt; mother Bertha Bridger; step-father Dorman Bridger; daughter Rowena Saunders and grandson Raymond Saunders. Left to mourn are wife, Doris; daughters, Viola (Ben Foley), Badger, Velma (David Jacobs), Badger, Joyce (Cyril Wellman), Markham, ON, Cavell (Norman Hurley), Westport; son-in-law Jack Saunders, Scarborough, ON; sisters, Maisie Foster, Rowena Beaton (Con), Greta Noble (Raymond), Audrey Pardy (Norman) and Betty Penney (Pearce); brothers, Sidney Burt, Neil Burt (Florence), Everett Burt (Marg), Allan Bridger (Rita) and Woodrow Bridger (Paula); 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major David Sparkes and Capt. Ralph Young conducted the funeral service from the Salvation Army Citadel, King's Point on Monday, Sept. 3, 2001. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, King's Point. Pallbearers were grandsons, David Jacobs, Vincent Saunders, Rodney Saunders, Mark Hurley, Daniel Hurley and Sean Foley. Honourary pallbearer was Harold Jacobs.

JENKINS, EVERETT,
SPRINGDALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Everett F. Jenkins announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Centre, Springdale on August 31, 2001 at the age of 67. Everett was a member ot the Grace United Church. He retired from Noble's Woodworking. Predeceased by parents Fred and Bertha Jenkins. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Hazel; sons David (Dona) and Tony (Judy) all of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn: brother Arthur Jenkins; sister Audrey Whitehorne; grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Danielle and Nicole. Rev. Marion Davis conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church on September 3, 2001. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Jenkins, Tony Jenkins, Matthew, Jennifer, Danielle and Nicole Jenkins.
