WHALEN, LEWIS DAVID
1946-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lewis Whalen announces his passing at Fox Lake in Yellowknife, NWT, on April 2, 2010 at the age of 63. Lewis retired from Giant Mines. Predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Lovelett, and grandson, Benjamin Nathaniel. Left with fond and loving memories is Beverley Roberts; son, John Joe of Alberta; daughters: Uronka of Ontario, Serena of Ontario and Keara of Ontario. Also leaving to mourn Debbie; sisters: Fay (Ray), Oveta (Dave), Ina (Perry) and three granddaughters. Pastor Bill Cole conducted the funeral service from the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in South Brook on April 13, 2010. Interment will be at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers are Cecil Huxter, Trent Newman, Everett Burton, Bruce Fifield, Archie Morey, Alfred Elliott, Sean Simon and Bruce Hewlett. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

MOORE, LILLIAN FLORENCE
1918-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lillian Florence Moore announces her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on April 4, 2010 at the age of 91. Lillian was a member of the United Church. Lillian Moore retired from The Interfaith Home for Seniors as Cook. Predeceased by first husband, Harold Oram and second husband, Harry Moore. Left with fond and loving memories are her two sons: Harold Oram (Janice) of Ohio and Joseph Oran (Jane) of Hare bay; four daughters: Beatrice Pynn of Springdale, Julia Vokey (Herbert) of Pasadena, Josephine Oxford (Lindsay) of Glovers Harbour and Edith Wiseman (Alvin) of Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn 17 gandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Major Lindsay Oxford will conduct the funeral service from the Country Haven Funeral Home in Corner Brook on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Interment will be at the Mount Patricia Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jim and Jenna Vokey, Rodney and Nancy Wiseman, Debbie Vokey and Dion Oxford. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.

KNIGHT, MAXWELL WALLACE
1918-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Knight announces his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on April 5, 2010 at the age of 91 years. Maxwell retired from the Dept. of Highways. Predeceased by his wife Florence and brothers, Lemuel and Clayton. Left with fond and loving memories are his two sons: Colin (Brenda) of King's Point and Lorne (Sandra) of Gander; two daughters: Norma (Ronald) of Springdale and Glenna (Roy) of King's Point. Also leaving to mourn, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Reverend Donna Hann-Harris conducted the funeral service from the United Church in Jackson's Cove on April 9, 2010. Interment was at the United Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dwayne Hayward, Richie Knight, Colin Knight, Lorne Knight, Howard Knight and Roy Richards. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

JACOBS, EVANGELINE EVELYN LAURA

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Evangeline Laura Jacobs, age 79, announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Friday, April 9, 2010. Predeceased by her husband - Gilbert Jacobs; parents - Elijah & Margaret Milley; sisters - Marjorie Milley, Phyllis Bowers & Gladys Oxford. Left with fond and loving memories are her children - Calvin Milley (Minnie), Sudbury, ON, Ernest Jacobs, Upper Hammond Plains, NS, Sarah Bursey (Peter), Hare Bay, NL, Olive Pope (Fred), Peterview, NL, Bonnie Andrews (Garland), La Scie, NL, Joy Brenton (Larry Blake), Peterview, NL, Wavey Gray (Cluney), La Scie, NL, Beatrice Jacobs, Springdale, NL, Corvan Jacobs, La Scie, NL, & Donia Bonnier (John Howell), Labrador City, NL; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings - Greta Chatman, Springdale, NL, Alfred Milley (Cora), King's Point, NL, Gerald Milley & Arthur Milley, both of Springdale, NL and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Majors Arley & Darlene Masters conducted the funeral service at The Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, La Scie, NL on Monday, April 12, 2010. Pallbearers were Corvan Jacobs, Michael Jacobs, Andrew Gray, Conrad Andrews, Brent Jacobs & Darren Andrews. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton's Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

COLLINS, MICHAEL JOSEPH (BUTCH)
April 16, 1943 - April 17, 2010

Michael was born in Buchans, Newfoundland in 1943, son of Michael Collins (1909-1987) and Margaret (Hearn) Collins (1918-1975). He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Rogers (Married in 1966), his sons, Sean (Phyllis) and Erin (Natasha), and his five granddaughters, Hannah Mary, Kelsey Margaret, Porsha, Eva, and Kaja. He is also survived by four sisters Elizabeth Nowlan (Peter), Mary Erikson (Gary), Regina Bailey (Bill), Helen O'Brien (Paul), and predeceased by his brother Paul Collins (1958-1959). Also leaving to mourn his brother-in-law Roy Rogers (Sharon) and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Goodyear (John), Michelle O'Brian, and Judy Wiegert (Mike). A proficient and pre-eminent geologist, Michael worked with numerous mining and mineral exploration operations in the Buchans, Green Bay, and Baie Verte regions from the early 1960s through to the 1980s. Prior to his retirement, Michael worked for sixteen years at the Department of Mines and Energy where he made great contributions to the mining sector through his work in mineral assistance and prospector training.
Happiness includes chiefly the idea of satisfaction after full honest effort. No one can possible be satisfied and no one can be happy who feels that in some paramount affairs he failed to take up the challenge of life. -Arnold Bennett
Michael took up the challenge of life and every other challenge with relentless zeal and the fiercest work ethic. He will be dearly missed.
Viewing took place from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, April 20 at Caul's Funeral Home (84 LeMarchant Rd.) including a brief service at 6pm that day. No flowers by request. Donations to the charity of your choice will be gratefully accepted.

COLBOURNE, BETH BERNETTA
1954-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Beth Colbourne announces her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on April 17, 2010 at the age of 55. Predeceased by her brother, Ross. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Harold; sons: Jason (Tracey) and Sean Ross and grandchildren, Alyssa and Andrew. Also leaving to mourn parents: Job and Ruby Burton; brothers: Gilbert (Madeline), Aubrey (Linda), Orville (Vera), Terry (Maureen), Leroy (Shelly) and sisters: Betty Lou (Kevin), Molly, Sharon (Brian), Tammy (Dwayne). Reverend Joan Brinston will conduct the funeral service from the United Church in Beaumont on April 21, 2010. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery in Beaumont. Pallbearers are Betty Lou Parsons, Molly Burton, Sonya McQuoid, Joanne Halfyard, Gail Rideout and Joy Colbourne. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

FIFIELD, FREDERICK JAMES
Pilley's Island, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Frederick James Fifield, age 81, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Monday, April 19, 2010. Predeceased by his parents - James & Levina Fifield; sister - Jean Calleau; parents-in-law - Harold & Susan Squires. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife - Melvina, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; children - Brian Squired (Wavey), Dartmouth, NS, Bernetta Fifield, Birchy Bay, NL; grandchildren - Sarah & Jacob Squires; siblings-in-law - Jessie Penney (Joe Colbourne), Little Bay, NL, June Hart (Clarence), Pilley's Island, NL, Neil Squires (Wanda), Springdale, NL, Marina Joseph (Tim), Corner Brook, NL, Zella Ledrew, Corner Brook, NL, Louise Regular (Dean), Ming's Bight, NL & Tom Squires (Sandra), La Scie, NL; special cousins - Margaret & William Whyatt; many nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. FUDGE, PATSY LILLIAN
1952-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Patsy Lillian Fudge announces her passing at the A.M. Guy Memorial Hospital in Buchans on April 19, 2010 at the age of 57. Patsy retired from Manitoba Housing and moved home in August of 2009. Predeceased by infant son, Curtis; grandparents, Jesse and Sandy Burton and grand father, Selby Verge. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Hedley Fudge; sons: George Fudge of Prince Edward Island and Chris Fudge (Sabrina) of Manitoba; daughter, Gail Fudge of Manitoba. Also leaving to mourn parents; Wilfred and Lulu Verge; grandchildren: Zena, Cameron, Michael and Hailey; grandmother, Althea Verge; brothers: Kevin Verge (Irene), Tony Verge (Irene); sisters, Bernetta Vincent (Clayton), Kay Heath (Angus), Valerie Fudge (Lindy); brothers-in-law: Gilbert Fudge (Bonnie), Mabrey Fudge, Alvin Fudge, Wade Fudge (Joann), Herman Fudge (Marie); sisters-in-law: Leona Best (Ken), Cindy Warr (Bert) and a large number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Predeceased by her husband - Dorman Morey; parents - Jacob & Dorcas Toms; siblings - Willie Toms, Hilda Ryan, Clarence Toms, Frank Toms; parents-in-law - Henry & Anne Morey; siblings-in-law - Daisy Toms, Martha Lacey-Toms, Harold Ryan, Effie Morgan (Isaac), Raymond Morey (Wilomena), Pearce Morey (Mable), Harvey Morey (Irene), Lemuel Morey, Stewart Morey, Fred Morey (Harriett), Flora Gillett (Pearce), Lylie Morey. PENNEY, AUBREY EDWARD WILLIAM
La Scie, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Aubrey Edward William Penney, age 68, announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Predeceased by his parents - William & Pearl Penney; brother - Chesley Penney; father-in-law - Edmund Hamlyn. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife - Edna Penney, La Scie, NL; sons - Terry Penney (Denise), La Scie, NL and David Penney (Marie Lima), Brampton, ON; grandchildren - Miranda & Angela; Terry & Camellia; 2 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law - Evelyn Hamlyn, La Scie, NL; siblings - Violet Whalen (Wayne) and Claude Penney (Janet), both of Western Bay, NL; sister-in-law - Phyllis Cadwell (Garfield), Corner Brook, NL; 5 nieces and 2 nephews; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. BUSSEY, REGINALD CARL
Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness, on April 28th, 2010, Reginald Carl Bussey, age 72. Predeceased by his parents, Solomon and Elsie Bussey. Leaving to mourn, his brothers and sisters: Albert (Judy), Douglas (Marion), Harold (Melvin), Greta Canning (Levi), Jack (Sheila), Valance (Yvonne), Lester (Bonnie), Nelson (Diana), Hazel Gee (Leroy), Vincent (Mary Lou); as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at the Salvation Army Church, Woodstock. Funeral service 2 pm, on Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 from the Salvation Army Church, interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations in his memory may be made to the Waterford Hospital.

CURRAN, ROSE ANNE
1925-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rose Anne Curran announces her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Center in Springdale on April 29, 2010 at the age of 84. Rose Anne retired from Corpus Cristi Presbytery, Bay Bulls. Predeceased by her husband, Edward Curran. Left with fond and loving memories are her son, Jerome Curran (Debra) of Calgary and daughters: Mary Power (Maurice) of Yellowknife and Margaret Bennett (Bruce) of Beachside. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren; Aaron, Amanda, Kimberly, Rebecca, Sarah, Stephanie, Natalie, Codey, Jessica and Ashley. The funeral service took place from the church in St. Patrick's on May 4, 2010. Interment was at the cemetery in St. Patrick's. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
