LOCKE, RITA A. -
Passed away peacefully on April 4, 2000, Rita A. Locke at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre. Mrs. Locke was a member of the Salvation Army, Springdale Corps. Predeceased by parents Moses and Dulcie Burton, and three brothers - Ralph, Wesley and Thomas Burton. Left to mourn are: husband George; son David (wife Leona) of Marmora, ON. and daughter Susan (husband Shawn) of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Flossie Newbury (Sam) of King's Point, Blanche Croucher (Jerry) of Springdale, Yvonne Heath (Cames), Gladys Heath, Beaumont and Joan Weir of Scarborough, ON.; brothers - Reginald (Beulah) of Springdale, Ford Cindy) of Lively, ON; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Capt. and Mrs. G. Butt conducted the funeral services at the Salvation Army, Springdale on Friday, April 7, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery.

KING, ROY -
Passed away April 12, 2000, after a lengthy illness, Roy King, at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's. He was 81 years of age. Mr. King retired from construction work in 1978 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Left to mourn are: wife Phyllis Daphne, and son Reginald (wife Madonna) of Mount Pearl. Also leaving to mourn are: sisters - Nellie England and Myrtle Osmond; two grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Jack Mercer and Mr. T Russel Lodge conducted the funeral service at Harry's Harbour United Church. Interment was at Harry's Harbour.

JACOBS, SHIRLEY -
Passed away, April 21, 2000, peacefully Shirley Elizabeth Jacobs at her home in Westport. She was 55. Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the ACW and a former Firette. Left to mourn are: husband Eric Jacobs; sons Raymond (wife Tammy) of Kitchener, ON and Ernest (wife Sandra) of Kitchener, ON.; daughters Elaine of Westport, Katherine (husband Howard Andrews) of Oromocto, NB and Mabel (husband Peter Winsor) of St. John's. Also leaving to mourn: brother Edward; four grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Dianne Brett-Frye conducted the funeral service at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Westport. Interment was at St. Peter's Cemetery, Westport.

VERGE, ARTHUR -
Passed away, suddenly, on April 22, 2000 at his home in Beachside, Arthur Verge, at the age of 74. Mr. Verge retired from the Baie Verte Mines in 1990. Predeceased by parents - Frederick and Beatrice. Left to mourn are: his wife of 45 years, Myrtise; sons - Wallace of Beachside and Elmo (wife Deborah) of Grand Falls-Windsor; and daughter Debra of Scarborough, ON. Also leaving to mourn; sisters - Winnie (Jack) Osmond of Twillingate, Daisy Bennett of Beachside, half-sister Clara of Mount Pearl; brothers - Philip (Lillian) of Beachside Harold of Botwood; five grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor W. E. Angell conducted the funeral service at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Beachside on April 24, 2000. Interment was at the Beachside Pentecostal Cemetery.

ROBERTS, THOMAS H. G. -
Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the CNRHC, Grand Falls-Windsor on April 23, 2000, Thomas H. G. Roberts at the age of 75. Mr. Roberts was a retired fisherman. He was predeceased by his parents - Joseph and Jessie Roberts. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Cressie; daughters - Cavell Wiseman (Bruce), Little Bay Islands, Maxine Oxford (Robert), Little Bay Islands and Sue Folkes (Robert), Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn: seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lieut. Laverne fudge and Major Jim Cooper conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Little Bay Islands on Wednesday, April 26, 2000. Interment followed at the Little Bay Islands Community Cemetery.

SHARPE, CYRIL -
Passed away April 27, 2000, after a lengthy illness, Cyril Sharpe at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home, Springdale. He was 81 years old. Mr. Sharpe retired from Terra Nova Tel in 1984 and was a member of the Salvation Army Men's Fellowship. Predeceased by: wives - Kit and Rita; parents - Herbert and Dulcie Sharpe; brother - Clayton and daughter Laura Edna Left to mourn are: wife - Belle; sons - Wilson (Joan) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Eric (Joanne) of Harry's Harbour, Ross (Janice) of Timmins, ON., Roland (Carol) of Eldee, ON., Eugene (Ricki) of Trail, BC., Freeman of Coboconk, ON., Robbie (Juanita) of Springdale and Jeff of Harry's Harbour; daughters - Dulcie (Glen Evans) of Springdale, Vera Joy (Lindy Goulding) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Sandra (Lorne Knight) of Gander, Kimberly (Will Goudie) of Gander and Eleanor of Harry's Harbour. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Olive Burton, Hilda Pippy and Marie Freake; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lt. Robert Spurrell conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Harry's Harbour on April 30, 2000. Interment was at the Community Cemetery.
