BAINES, Harold
Taken from this life suddenly while away in Alberta on Sept. 4, 2013, Mr. Harold Baines of Reef's Harbour, NL in his 71st year. Mr. Baines leaves behind with heavy hearts and loving memories, his wife and loving companion of 39 years Shirley Baines; his sons Corey (Marlene), Gerard (Rhoda), and Guy (Christina); his daughters Cathy Applin (Craig), and Vira Way (Glenn); grandchildren Hayden Way, Hannah Way, Tristan Baines, Kelsea Baines, Matthew Applin, and Kyle Applin, as well as his brothers Wilfred (Thereasa), George (Elizabeth), Hayward (Jessie), and Melvin (Olga); sisters Olga Coombs (Albert), Augustine White, Joyce Offery (Jim), Kay Taylor (Harvey), and Iris Baines (Lambert), brothers-in-law Thomas Tucker (Phyllis) and Archibald Tucker (Evelene); sisters-in-law Virginia Hynes, Joyce Gillette (Sandy), Harriett Sinnicks (Clyde), and Dorcas Baines. He was predeceased by his grandson Nicholas Applin, parents George and Alma Baines, in-laws Philip and Caroline Tucker, brothers Noah, Leander, and Culine, sister Virgina Tucker, brothers-in-law Nathaniel Tucker, Ralph Hynes, Leslie White, and Greg Doyle, and sisters-in-law Lucy Baines, Diane Tucker, and Thereasa Baines. Visitation took place at St. Margaret's Anglican Church in Reef's Harbour from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 with Rev. Harold Harvey, Rev. Canon Paulette Bugden, and lay person Bernice Baines officiating. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

BESSEY, Greta Delores
Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre on Sept. 5, 2013, Mrs. Greta Delores Bessey of Ship Cove, NL in her 91st year. She leaves to mourn her sons Roland and Ernest; daughters Joyce, Hazel (Garland), and Elaine (Gary); her beloved grandchildren Tony, Debbie, Melva, Perry, Tiffany, Kim Decker, Sheldon, Kimberly, and Sheri; six great-grand-children; brother Samuel (Neva) Decker as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald Bessey, her parents George and May, granddaughter Sherri Smith, brothers Kalman and Lloyd, sisters Gladys, Vera, and Madge. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Ship Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 with Pastor Tony Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

BILES, Hilda Catherine
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hilda Biles of St. Anthony, NL announce her passing on Sept. 20, 2013 at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Bernie Biles (Beryl), Garry Biles (Wavey), Vancouver; Dannie Biles (Alice), Barrie; daughter Wanda Reardon, Brampton; seven grandchildren she was so proud of, Shawn (Vicky), Tammie Frelich-Biles, Vanessa, Karen Keats (Dave), Ashley, Latisha, Cheryl, Khristopher Reardon, and Adam Hepburn; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Muriel Patey, Rosalind Pilgrim, and Pansy Payne (Brett), brothers Boyce (Lorna), Don (Sherrie), and Carl (Margaret), as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wesley, father Henry Cull, and mother Hurslett. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony on Sept. 21 and 22 followed by the funeral service which took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Interment followed at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. She will be missed in the community of St. Anthony for her community services throughout the years. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GALLIOTT, Alice Theresa
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alice Theresa Galliott of Eddies Cove, NL announce her passing on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 64 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband John; daughter Holly (Angus) of Oromocto, New Brunswick; son John JR. (Myrna) of Stony Plain, Alberta; granddaughter Kirsten; grandson Jack; father Patrick Myers; brothers Augustus, Terry, Randell, Wayne, and Amedee; sisters Irene, Helen and her best friend Justine Galliott, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Mercedes, sister Jessie, parents-in-law, Jack and Cecilia Galliott. Visitation took place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Bartlett's Harbour on Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Ralph officiating. Interment followed at Doctors Brook Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix. MEWS, Ethel Clara (nee Pilgrim)
Born: July 25th, 1929
Passed on: September 23rd, 2013

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Health Sciences Centre on Sept. 23, 2013, Mrs. Ethel Clara Mews (nee Pilgrim), age 84 years. She is predeceased by her husband James and son Ian Lovett. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Glenn (Millie) and Boyce (Jacquie); daughter Gloria (Bill); in-laws Marlene Lovett, and Chris Vardy; grandchildren Alyson (Stephen) and Andrew (Jill), Gillian (Curtis), Gordon (Tracey) and Christy (Chris); her precious grand-babies Georgia, Anna Carol and Levi, Coen and Vance, Kailey and Ian, and Laura; sisters Una MacAskill (Tony) and Effie Cooper; brother Maitland Pilgrim; and home care worker Goldie; as well as other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday. Funeral service was held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ethel's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). MITCHELMORE, Lavenia
Passed away into peace on Sept. 7, 2013 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony in her 98th year, Mrs. Lavenia Mitchelmore of Sandy Cove, NL. Thankful for a lifetime of love and memories are her son Byron (Emma); daughter Bernette (Robert); daughter-in-law Virtue; grandchildren Sheila (Wallace), Donald (Myrtle), Rose (Paul), Maitland, Amanda (Claude), Colette (David), Winsor (Lisa), Shane (Jeanette), Shawna, Richard, and Heather; great-grandchildren Sheldon (Marilyn), Philip (Terri), Aaron, Mitchel, Sean, Kelly, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Shayna, and Shelly; great-great-grandchildren Sheldon (Kayla), Austin, Bryanna, Kyla, Montana, and Austin. Lavenia was predeceased by her husband Norman, sons Maitland and Winsor, daughters Amanda and Rowena, parents Isaac and Leah, her sister Marie, and brothers Walter, Lawrence and Percy. Visitation was held at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 with Rev. Marlene Harvey and layperson Joyce White officiating. Burial followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

NOSEWORTHY, Jessie
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jessie Noseworthy (nee Coombs) announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center on September 5, 2013 at the age of 80. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband Donald; daughters: Minnie Noseworthy (Terry Browne) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Nellie Brake (Byron) of Meadows and Patricia Braye (Jeff) of St. John's. Also leaving to mourn are grandchildren: Meghan (Reid), Bradley (Sasha) and Jessica; sister Rachel Gibbons and brother George (Virgina) Coombs, brothers-in-law: Alex Noseworthy and James Apgar; sisters-in-law: Christine McPhee, Jessie Coombs, Murial Coombs and Winnie Pynn and a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Jessie was an active member of the Anglican Church and the Women's Social Concern Group. Pallbearers were nephews: George Gibbons, Wally Gibbons, Wayne Noseworthy, Carl Noseworthy, Erastus Noseworthy and friend; Steve Mason. Reverend Randy Lockyer conducted the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

PILGRIM, Bessie
Passed peacefully away on Sept. 9, 2013 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, Mrs. Bessie Pilgrim of Main Brook, NL in her 94th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Leander (Isabella), Stanley (Shirley), Alice (Kenneth), Drucella (Douglas), Stella (Dennis), Herman (Gladys), Elsie (Alwyn), Cassie (Tom), Belinda (Brian), Mervin (Wavey), Melvin (Karen), Triffie (Edward), Margie (Yasin), and Raymond (Kim); thirty-eight grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-four great-great-grandchildren; special nephew Hayward; two sisters Elizabeth Dorcas and Keziah (Fred); half-brothers Fred (Elsie), San (Eliza), Roy (Priscilla), Melvin (Carol), and Edgar (Shelia); half-sisters Joyce, and Velma (Morris) as well as many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Benjamin, granddaughters Roxanne, Rosalie, Bonnie, and Julia, grandson Clayton, sisters Helen, Vera, and Rebecca, her parents George and Dinah (Allingham) Saunders, and half-brother Havner. Visitation was held at the United Church in Main Brook from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

RANDELL, Andrew
Passed peacefully away at the White Bay Central Health Centre on Sept. 30, 2013, Mr. Andrew Randell of Englee, NL in his 86th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Edna Randell; daughters Wavey Andrews (Ted), Diana Randell, and Michelle Randell (Hubert); son Eddie Randell (Joanne); sister Myrtle Rose; grandchildren Jennifer Randell (Chad), Markita Randell, and Joshua Randell; great-grandchildren Mitch Randell, and Riley Randell, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Susanna Randell. Visitation was held at the Faith Pentecostal Church followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 with Pastor Sansome officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.

RICHARDS, Leslie
Passed peacefully away on Sept. 3, 2013 at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony, Mr. Leslie Richards of St. Anthony, NL in his 84th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Violet; sons Robert (Daphne) and Peter (Linda); daughter Rhonda (John); brother Graham (Marie); grandchildren Lori, Charmayne, Matthew (Natasha), Megan, Robert, and Jonathon; great-grandchildren Christine and Ross James; as well as many nieces, nephew, other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Harriett, brothers Maxwell, Donald, Abram, Ernest, and David, sisters Marjorie, Nina, Mabel, and sister-in-law Elsie. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony followed by the funeral service which took place at the St. Anthony United Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Cremation followed the service. Interment took place on Sept. 10th at 4 p.m. in the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

TUCKER, Catherine Theresa
Born: November 16th, 1942
Passed on: September 14th, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Catherine Theresa Tucker (Pearce) announce her passing, surrounded by her family at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sept. 14, 2013 at the age of 70 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 52 years Simon Tucker; her furry friend Newf; and her eight children Leonard Tucker (Hazel), St. Anthony, Rosemary Parsons (Randy), Summerside, Nancy McCarthy, Corner Brook, Marie Blundon (Robert), Corner Brook, Wanda Brake (Michael), Meadows, Robert Tucker (Nancy), Meadows, Johnny Tucker (Twila), Summerside, and Kevin Tucker (Sandra), Meadows; her 14 grandchildren that she adored Tanya McCarthy (Duane), Krista Tucker-Dunphy (Jon), she was so proud of her granddaughter Dr. Amanda Tzenov (Youlian), Melissa Parsons (Garret), Randi-Megan Parsons (Dale), Stephen McCarthy (Andrea), Angela McCarthy (Neil), Thomas (Tommy) Blundon (Jen), Michelle Brake (Michael), Alexander Brake (Courtney), Jonathan Leroy (Cindy), Robin Tucker (Lewis), Sarah (Stephen) and Tanisha Tucker; five great-grandchildren whom Nan Tucker cherished Dominic Combdon, Ilsa Mae Brake, Emily McCarthy, Owen McCarthy, and Hailey Leroy; sisters Anne Hollahan (Kevin), Bridget Small (Kenneth), and Francis Elson (Alan); and special niece Laura; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by son-in-law Sean McCarthy, her parents William and Anne Pearce, her sister Rosemary, brothers Patrick, Gerald, Bernard, and Leonard, father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Eliza Tucker, sisters-in-law Regina, Stella, Bridget and brother-in-law Hedley. Family gatherings will never be the same, and we will all miss the fresh buns and hot bread. Mom's strength, sense of humor, faith and love for family will live on. Let us not dwell on time lost but cherish the memories. Visitation took place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, Sept. 16. The funeral service took place on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the All Hollows Parish, Humber Road at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment followed at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
