Passed away in to peaceful rest at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 17, 2012, Mrs. Mary Laura Clarke of Port aux Choix, NL, in her 64th year. Left to mourn her loss are her mother Alice Sexton; her sons Roy (Diane), Robert, and Austin (Fatmia); her daughters Ivy Sexton (Lorne), and Peggy Clarke (Brian); her brothers Anthony, Ambrose (Gertie), John (Ida), Gerald (Darlene), Eugene (Cathy), and Philip (Isabelle); sisters Margaret Clarke, Ann (Cliff) Caines, and Maureen (Fred) Bromley. Visitation took place at St. Theresa's Church in Port au Choix from where the funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 with Fr. Lee Laney officiating. Burial followed in the Port au Choix Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
HANCOCK, Elam Dyson
Passed away suddenly in Tan Tallon, Nova Scotia in Halifax County at the young age of 43 years, Mr. Elam Dyson Hancock of Englee, NL, on Sept. 15, 2012. Left to mourn with heavy hearts are his parents Wilmore and Laura Hancock, of Englee; his son James Reid, Mt. Albert, Ontario; daughter Samantha Reid, Hubbards, Nova Scotia; common- law-spouse Terrie Gale, Hubbards Nova Scotia; sister Angela (Alan) Compton, Englee, his brothers Eldred Hancock, Fort McMurray, Alberta; and Eldon (Tina) Hancock, Fort McMurray Alberta, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 with Pastor Vanzel Quinlan officiating. HILLIER, Nellie Mae
Passed away into peace at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 11, 2012, Mrs. Nellie Mae Hillier. Nellie leaves behind to mourn her loss her husband Ralph; her sons Charles (Carol Ann), and Carl (Shirley); her daughters Ina (Wilbourn), Eileen (Eric), Glowena (Morris), Gaye (Harold), and Teena (Gilbert); her brothers George, Harold, and William; her sisters Shirley and Goldie, as well as 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other family and friends and close family friend Wavey Snow. Nellie lived to see the passing of her parents Kenneth and Edith Adams, her mother Hetti Adams who passed during childbirth, and her brothers Melvin and Wilson. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Griquet from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gwendolyn Brenda (Gwen) Martin of Raleigh, NL, announce her passing at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 15, 2012 at the age of 51 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Gaden; son Gavin, (Shannon); grandson Bradley; father Gayden; sisters Yvonne, and Louise (George); brother Gayden Jr. (Mona), as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Delcie, mother-in-law Mary, and father-in-law Bruce. Visitation was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Raleigh from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Diane Smith and Lay Reader Alf Larkin officiating. Carrie Mercer - Passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, shortly after admission to Carbonear General Hospital, in the presence of her children, sister, & son-in-law. Carrie was predeceased by her husband Chesley R; infant daughter Cynthia Grace; parents John & Delilah Bell; sisters Violet & Clara Bell; Alfreda Jewer, & Tena (Hollis- dec) Etheridge. She leaves with much love & precious memories son Bob (Marie) Mercer; daughters Linda Mercer (Tony Smith) & Laura Saunders; three cherished grandsons Robert Mercer, Jamison (Kate) Mercer, & Aaron Saunders; sister Pearl (James- dec) Buckle; brothers Herbert (Judy) Bell & Theodore (Ivy) Bell; brother-in-law Harry Jewer; sister-in-law Evelyn Mercer, many special nieces, nephews, family members & friends as well as her devoted cats, Candy & Catie. A beautiful celebration of her life & interment took place at Central United Church, Bay Roberts on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012. Passed away into peaceful rest at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony in his 88th year, Mr. George Henry Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove, NL. Left to mourn but thankful for the memories are his son Calvin (Wavey); daughters Gladys (John), Mary Rachel (Herbert), Enid (Mike), Joy (Dennis), and Gail (Sidney); granddaughters Kianna (Special granddaughter), Michelle, Kerry, Gina, and Katie; grandsons George Henry Jr., Sheldon, Johnny, and Rocky, as well as great-grandchildren Kristen, Sky, Rylee, Slayde, Kent, Addison, Aaron, Harlee, and Jimmy Mclean (Special boy); his brother Garfield (Alma); sisters Gladys (George), and Miriam (late Ronald), sister-in-law Rita (Edgar), brothers-in-law late Roland (Doreen), Chesly (Edna), Kalvin (Lillian), and Abraham (Millie). George was predeceased by his loving wife Myrtle, his mother Mary Ann and father Albert, as well as his mother and father-in-law Rachel and William Dredge, his brother Steward and his nephew David. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Green Island Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, with Rev. PARSONS, Freeman Nicholas
During the early morning hours of Sept 20, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, Freeman Parsons, age 80, passed into the presence of his Lord whom he so faithfully served. Freeman lived most of his life in Goose Cove, a hard working fisherman, he knew the value of a good days work. When the fishery closed in the early nineties he moved both house and home to St. Anthony. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and faithful friend. A deep void has been created in the Parsons family due to Freeman's passing. He will be sadly missed by his wife Hazel who devoted herself to caring for him. They shared a love story that spanned over 55 years. Even in his final days when disease and pain wrecked his body and mind he still lit up when she entered the room. His children Phyllis (Ivan) Simms, Gail (Milton) Roberts, Wallace Parsons, Penny Parsons (Brian), grandchildren Sandra, Danielle, Cody will all acutely feel the loss of a wonderful father and grandfather. He is predeceased by his father Jehu, mother Frances, sisters Myrtle, Dulcie, and Vashti, brother Jehu and daughter-in-law Kim. Freeman's funeral service took place Sept 23rd at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly in St. Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 17, 2012 Mr. Roland Maxwell Pilgrim of Main Brook, NL, in his 73rd year. Left to mourn are his wife of 52 years Ivy; his children Ruby (Whyman), Sheila, (Rene), Don (Gaye), Morgan (Vivian), Glenn (Holly), Marcel, and Colin (Lorraine); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters. Ron was predeceased by his son Fred and his parents and two brothers. He will be sadly missed. Visitation took place at the United Church in Main Brook, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20 with Rev. John McGonigle, Dm officiating.
