ACKER, Michael Ian Samuel
Born: August 28th, 1941
Passed in: 2011-09-27
Died peacefully in Montreal after a short illness. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Ruth Acker. He is sadly missed by his wife Jeannie; his children Ruthie, Sarah and James; his brothers Peter, Paul and John, and many other relatives and friends in Ontario, Newfoundland and around the world. Michael will be remembered for his love of people and his generous acts of service. Thanks to the many people who cared for Michael in his last weeks, including the staff at White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton and Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, the ambulance crews, the neurosurgery and oncology teams at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, and the neurosurgery and ICU teams at the Montreal Neurological Hospital. Special thanks to the Yellow Team. Donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Roddickton/Bide Arm Recreation Committee (General Delivery, Roddickton, NL, A0K 4P0) or Sanctuary Ministries of Toronto (sanctuarytoronto.ca). ATKINS, Rendell Clan
Born: April 13th, 1947
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rendell C. Atkins of Port au Choix, NL, announce his recent sudden passing at his residence at the age of 64 years. Born to Rowena Atkins (Nee Burt) and Michael Gould, Rendell was an accomplished fisherman and known throughout the community for his expertise in mechanical matters (fixing outboard motors, generators and keeping vehicles running). He was often fondly remembered for his passionate views on world affairs and as a constant source of information on weather. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sisters Margaret Pitcher, Delphina Curtis, Juanita (Rex) Boyd, Ivy, and Barbara; brothers Richard (Freda), Martin, Wade, Craig, Bradley (Renee), and Vincent (Emily) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Clyde, Percy, Lloyd, Clan Joseph, Sherry, Donna and Blanche. Cremation took place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix. The family guest book may be signed and/or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

BROMLEY, Emily Elizabeth
Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 26, 2011 Emily Elizabeth Bromley of Goose Cove, NL. She was five months and 12 days old. She leaves to mourn with heartfelt memories her parents Susan McDonald and Corey Bromley; grandparents Desmond and Martha McDonald, Bernadine Bromley and Edwin Smith, and Edward and Anne Bromley, also a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss her dearly. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony followed by the funeral mass which was held at 11a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 in Goose Cove with Fr. Anthony Nwaohiri officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

BUTT, Mary Agnes
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Agnes Butt of Pinware, NL, announce her passing on Sept 30, 2011 on route to Health Sciences Centre in St. John's after a tragic accident on Trans Labrador Highway in West St. Modeste at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories daughter Elaine Pike (Kevin); sons Ivan (Gina), and Darren (Peggy); grandchildren LeRoy, Jeremy, Jordhan, Megan, Christian, Ivani, Sarah, and Sophie; and great-grandchild Jason, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford, parents Francis and Margaret Beals. Visitation took place at the Roman Catholic Church in West St. Modeste on Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Anthony officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Pinware. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

CHAMBERS, William (Bill) Abraham
Passed away peacefully at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Sept. 2, 2011, Mr. William (Bill) Chambers of Blue Cove, NL, in his 84th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Ursula; his sons Wade (Ivy), Winsor (Margaret), Tom (Tammy), Curt (Bonnie), Dennis (Wavey), and David (Joan); daughter-in-law Nancy (Pat); grandsons Dwayne (Janice), Lorenzo (Terraceta), Maurice (Melissa), and Geoffrey, and granddaughter Tobi (Bud), as well as brothers Wilfred (Jessie), Winston (Sandra), Absalom (Sheena); sisters Sophia (Clifford), Caroline (Ralph), Stella (William Samson, deceased), and Doreen Dredge, (Roland Dredge, deceased). William was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Absalom, brothers Stedman and Curtis, sisters Jane, Ruth and Virginia and brother-in-law Woodrow. Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service took place at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5 with Rev. Harold Harvey and lay person Matt Osborne officiating. Burial followed the service in the Pond Cove Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

ELSON, Winnifred (Wynne)
It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Wynne June 12, 1945 - Sept. 23, 2011 with her family by her side. She was born in Cartwright, Labrador, and lived at the Grenfell Orphanage in St. Anthony from 1958 to 1965. She passed away at St. Michael's Hospice, Burnaby, British Columbia. She is survived by her beloved husband Frank Lloyd; his children Brett and Brenda (Rob) of British Columbia; brothers Howard (Leona) Elson, and Gordon (Brenda) Rendell of Nova Scotia, Stafford (Winnie) Field of Goose Bay; sisters Catherine (Dale) Elson of Colorado, Thelma (Rex) Elson of Alberta and Sharon Diamond of St. Anthony and nine nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Vadney. A special thank you to the staff at St. Michael's Hospice for all their compassion and care.

McDONALD, William Bernard
It is with great sadness that the families of William McDonald (1929 - 2011) of Englee, NL, announce his sudden passing on Sept. 25, 2011 at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn sisters Elizabeth Burt, Scarborough, Ontario, Mary (Donald) Brake, Corner Brook, Bernadine (Christopher) Anderson, Vancouver, British Columbia, Maureen (Stanley) Semrau, Victoria, British Columbia; one brother James (Martina) Englee; sister-in-law Ella Burt, Whitby, Ontario, and special friend Bertha Payne, Rocky Harbour, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Margaret McDonald, brothers Tom, George, James, and Joe, sister Joan and wife Mary (Buckles). Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. A vigil was held at the Roman Catholic Church in Englee at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 and funeral mass took place on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Devas officiating. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

NOEL, Phoebe Miria
Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Sept. 24, 2011, Mrs. Phoebe Miria Noel of St. Anthony, NL, in her 80th year. She leaves to mourn with loving memories her Children John (Hazel), Sybil (Gord), Wavey, Jean, and Shawn (Marion); her grandchildren Lynn (Scott) Skinner, Karen Anderson, Trevor Noel (Nista), Joetta, Geoffery and Joshua Penney, Tyler Hillier, Ryan, Heidi, and Kirk Noel; her five great-grandchildren Cameron and Grace Anderson, Kelsey and Noah Skinner, and Madyson Noel; her sisters-in-law Martha Dawe and Selma Hancock, also her special friends Naomi Chubbs and Beatrice Pynn, and nieces and nephews from the Hancock and Noel families. Phoebe was predeceased by her husband Allan, brother Eric, father Israel, mother Annie and her beloved grandson Kirk. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home followed by the funeral service which was held on Monday, Sept. 26, with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PYNN, John William
Passed away into peace after a long battle with an illness at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Sept. 16, 2011, John William Pynn of St. Anthony, NL, in his 65th year. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond memories his wife Audrey; daughters Paula (Robin) Luscombe, Lisa (Bryan) Patey, and Janet (Lee Ings); grandchildren Isabelle and Ronan Luscombe and Aaron and Riley Patey; brothers Ian (Christina) Pynn, Alistar (Rosann) Middleton, and Dennis (Gaye) Middleton; sister Patricia (Peter) Money; Joseph Pynn (Uncle); Susan (Bill) Penney and nieces and nephews plus a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Abil (Amelia) Pynn and Dorothy (George) Middleton, Lavinia Pynn (Mother) and Theophilus Pynn (Uncle). Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 at the St. Mary's Anglican Church with Rev. Diane Smith and Lay Minister Robert Mesher officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

RANDELL, Effie Grace
Passed away peacefully at the White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton on Sept. 2, 2011, Mrs. Effie Grace Randell of Englee, NL, in her 82nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Don (Louise), Robert (Phoebe), Debbie, and Douglas (Denise), as well as eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, sisters Maude, Maisie, Ivy, Edna, and Shirley, and brother Frank, as well as dear friends Shirley and Doug Mills as well as other loved ones. She was predeaced by her parents John and Janet Randell, husband Welsey, son Chesley, daughter Wanda, brother Harold, sister Clara Ricketts, and mother-in-law Esther. Visitation was held at the United Church in Englee from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4. Burial followed at the United Cemetery in Englee. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

RYLAND, Hubert
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hubert Ryland of L'Anse au Loup, NL, announce his passing on Sept. 14, 2011 at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 90 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Julia; children Cecil (Christine), Albert (Bernice), Emile (Irene), Genevieve (Roland), Eben (Eileen), Doug (Bev), Margaret (Freddy), Gary (Shannon) and families, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by parents Albert and Margaret Ryland, brother Henry, and sisters Rebecca, Emma, and Ethel. Visitors were received at the family residence on Thursday and Friday and then transferred to the Anglican Church in L'Anse au Loup on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in L'Anse au Loup. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home in L'Anse au Loup.

SIMMS, William (Bud)
Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 4, 2011, Mr. William R. Simms (Bud) of St. Anthony, NL, in his 80th year. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories his wife Marie; children Vivian Woolfrey, Flora (Paul), Jean Cullen (Ron), Lomond (Juanita) and Beverley Langdon; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as a large number of extended family and friends. William (Bud) was predeceased by his brother George Simms. Visitation was held at the funeral home. The funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 at the St. Anthony United Church with Rev. Stephanie McClellan Officiating. Burial was held after the service at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

TAYLOR, Owen Clyde
Passed away suddenly and tragically on Sept. 6, 2011, Mr. Owen Clyde Taylor of Raleigh, NL, in his 55th year. He leaves to mourn with heartfelt memories wife Juanita "Juan"; son Warren (Karen); grandchildren Sierra and Morgan; sisters Bella (Dave) and Juanita (Wilbur); brothers Frank (Welda) and Roy (Betty); sister-in-law Mary; mother and father-in-law Gladys and Clayt Warren; sisters-in-law Donna (Allan) and Daphne (Lester); brothers-in-law Leonard (Bertha), Kayward (Bernette) and Jeff; aunt Maude Colbourne; great-aunt Mabel Vivian; special friend Gail; nieces, nephews and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents George and Mamie, brother Wilfred and brother-in-law Stanley Hodge. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

YETMAN, Stanley William
It is to mourn with loving memories mom Nellie Yetman; siblings George (Hazel), Lily Marshall (Joh with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Yetman of Red Bay, NL, announce his passing on Sept 27, 2011 at Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau at the age of 60 years. Leaving n), Hayward (Lilly), Clarence (Mary), Ralph (Elsie), Gerald (Janet), Stella Pye (Freeman), and Juanita Yetman (Roy), as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Eff Yetman. Visitation took place at the Our Lady of Labrador Church in West St Modeste on Thursday from where the funeral service took place Friday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Anthony officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in L'Anse au Diable. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home in L'Anse au Loup.
