PARSONS, MARY
Roddickton
Mary passed peacefully away at her residence in Roddickton at the age of 93 years, and leaves to mourn sister Martha Tucker Pollard and caregivers Emma and Jack Reardon and family. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Mary Clarke and husband Baxter Parsons of La Scie. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Roddickton. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at the funeral home with Captain Anthony and Beverley Dart-Stokes officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Roddickton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard funeral director.

CAMPBELL, MABEL “AUNT GERTIE” (BRADBURY)
Cape Norman

Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bradbury Short, passed away at the John M. Gray Centre on Sept. 7, 2008 at the age of 96 years. Leaving to mourn children Alvin, Malcolm Sr., Lyle (Evelyn), Marjorie Snow and Elsie (Lloyd) Pittman; grandchildren Warren (Faye), Randy (Emily), Everett (Juanita), Craig (Carolyn), Audrey (Levi), Dorothy (Gerald), Dennis (Kathy), Malcolm Jr. (Sharon), Ula (Wayne), Kevin (Jennifer), Gloria (Jon), David (Toby), Regina (John), Junior (Loretta), Gordon (Phyllis), Lloyd (Sheila), Loren (Gladys), Sheldon (Mae) and Kara Lynn; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-greatgrandchildren; brother Absalom (Violet) Short; sisters Bertha (the late Pearce) Noble and Jane (the late William) Carroll. She was predeceased by her husband Jacob, sons Seymour, Everett and Joseph, daughters-in-law Jessie, Martha, and Elizabeth, son-in-law Stanley Snow and brother Stanley Short. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at the United Church in Cook’s Harbour with Rev. Pendleton officiating. Interment followed at the cemetery at Cape Norman. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

HEDDERSON, BRYAN WELDON
1965-2008

The Hedderson family of Straitsview is grievously saddened to announce the loss of a son, a brother, and a devoted father. Bryan departed the world under tragic circumstances on Sept. 7, 2008. A well-known individual in the area, he spent much of his time helping people in Straitsview and the surrounding communities. He was a consummate seaman, and fishing was his lifelong calling; fishing vessels of diverse descriptions were a second home. Left to mourn are his son Bryan; parents John and Susie; siblings Terry (Natalie) of Cape Town, Ella (Wayne) Newell of St. John’s, Dwight (Mary) and Elaine of Straitsview; his niece Jenna Newell; nephews Terry and Dillon Hedderson, Matthew Newell, and Noah Algar-Hedderson; an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and an extensive circle of friends. Visitation was held at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from Sept. 10-12, whence the funeral service, led by Pastor H. Primmer, was held on Friday, Sept.12. His body was committed to the earth at Quirpon Cemetery.

BLAKE, GARFIELD
Straitsview

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Sept 10, 2008, Garfield Blake, age of 79 years. He was a true treasure, who leaves behind wife Marie; daughters Ruby (Bob), Audrey (Lawrence), and Edna (Wilb); sons Vincent (Mildred), Harry (Sheila) and Keith (Daphne); 12 special grandchildren Neil (Chelsea), Alwin (Alison), Robert (Tara), Ashley (Stephanie), Stephen, Scott, Dana, Ryan, Matthew, Sandi, Tiffany and Kristi, three precious great-grandchildren Hayley, Taylor and Megan; sister Lucy Colbourne; brothers Everett (Jessie) and Wilson, and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by sisters Mary, Evelyn and Rose, brothers Reuben, Harrison and Israel, and parents Martha and James Blake. Visitation took place at Central United Church from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, with Rev. Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.

HODDINOTT, STELLA
Plum Point

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre, St. Anthony on Sept. 11, 2008, Stella Hoddinott, age 86 years. Leaving to mourn sisters Juanita (Seymour) and Marion (Cos); sisters-in-law Julia, Emma, Marie (Truman), Heneretta (Ben) and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Peter. Visitaton took place at the Anglican Church in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Sept. 15 with Rev. Gosse officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

TAYLOR SR., GORDON
Forrester’s Point

Passed away at his residence on Sept. 11, 2008, Gordon Taylor Sr. at the age of 81 years. Leaving with a lifetime of memories wife Mary Jane; sons Derek (Lily) and Kevin (Judy); grandchildren Gurvin (Caroline Ann), Edmund (Vicki), Rochelle (Morley) and Gregory (Tammy); great-grandchildren Brady, Ally, Madison and Nathan, also a wide circle of family and friends. Visitation took place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Sept. 15 with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WHITE, Clyde
Sandy Cove

Passed peacefully away at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer on Sept. 21, age 57 years. Left with loving memories and sadly missed by wife Lavenia; son Dave (Trina); daughter Rosemarie (Leon), and three precious grandchildren Megan, Aleisha and Dakota; mother Julia; sisters Doreen (Ken) and Karen (Carl); brother Ron (Marilyn), and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral sevice was held on Wednesday, Sept. 24 with Rev. Diane Smith and lay minister Joyce White officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

PATEY, ALICE
St. Anthony

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Sept. 28, 2008. Alice Patey, age 80 years. Leaving to mourn brothers-in-law Arch (Maise) Patey, Lloyd (Sybil) Patey and Jacob Patey; sisters-in-law Una Roberts, Blanche (Ron) Strickland, the Tucker family, Patey family, Roberts family, Young Family and the Bartlettt Family and a large number of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Gideon, September 10, 2000, brothers Leslie Roberts, Charles Roberts, Fred Bartlett, sisters Aurelia Tucker, Alfreda Young. Visitation was held at Central United Church from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 on October 2, 2008 with Majors Raymond and Laura Janes officiating, interment followed at the cemetery in Quirpon. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home St. Anthony and Roddickton. Danielle Galgay funeral director.

LEE, Thomas
Pinware

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Lee announce the passing at the family residence in Pinware on Sept. 29, at the age of 74 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, children William (Rhoda), Len (Joyce), Maxine O’Brien (Rick), Terry, Tom JR (Vandell), and Jaquelyn, eight grandchildren, as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by wife Lucy, daughter Christine, parents: John and Winnifred Lee and adoptive parents William and Christine Pike.Visitors were received at the Our Lady of Labrador Church chapel on Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral services took place on Wednesday October 1 at 2 P.M. with Fr. Tim Moriarity officiating. Internment followed in the church cementary in Pinware. As expressions of sympatathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.
