BILLARD, Genevieve Mary "Jennie"
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Genevieve Mary "Jennie" Billard (July 1, 1939 - Oct. 5, 2013) announce her passing on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at her residence in Corner Brook, NL (formerly of Port au Choix) at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her special companion Russell Gates; sisters and brothers Marina Ploughman, Shirley (Bill) Spence, Evelyn (Len) Chaisson, Eileen McGrath, Leon (Linda) Billard, Gordon Billard, Pauline Billard, Myra McKay, Judy (Dorman) Payne, Jeannie Billard and Helena Billard; sisters-in-law Marie Billard and Vi Billard; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Elizabeth Billard, brothers Eugene, Cecil, Edmund and Roy Billard, sister Laura Billard, and brother-in-law Ted Ploughman. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Monday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation continued at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix on Wednesday, Oct. 9 beginning at 12 noon with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with Fr. Burro officiating. As expression of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

CHAMBERS, Olga
Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Oct. 7, 2013, Mrs. Olga Chambers of Blue Cove, NL in her 82nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Eva Taylor (Lorenzo); son Jacob Chambers (Millie); grandchildren Jebby Taylor (Adrienne), Jeffrey Taylor (Kelly), Jacob Chambers (Karen), and Ian Chambers (Shauna); great-grandchildren Alona, Madison, Brooke, Katie, and Luke; sister Olive Samson, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Chambers and her parents Charles and Eva Genge. Visitation took place at The Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Interment took place over on Darby's Island. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

COMPTON, Harvey
Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Oct. 10, 2013, Mr. Harvey Compton of Englee, NL in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memoires his sons Eric (Leona) Compton, South Brook, and Wayne (Justina) Compton, Englee; daughters Jackie (Guy) Andrews, Englee, Donna (Eugene) Hopkins, Englee, Arlene (Ralph) Talbot, Englee, Nicole (Glen) Andrews, Englee, and Tracy (Chris) Breen, Englee; brothers Wifred Compton, Burgeo, and Maxwell Compton, Burgeo; sisters Alma Noseworthy, New Brunswick, Telsie (Gordon) Pick, St. John's, and Helen (Harry) Kung, Calgary, Alberta; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one special grandson William, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Bessie Compton, father Lemuel and mother Ida. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 with Major Baggs officiating. Interment followed in the Salvation Army Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre funeral homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

DYSON, Rosanna
Rosanna Dyson
of Upper Coverdale and formally Churchill Falls passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, New Brunswick at the age of 61 years. Born in St. Anthony, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Parril) Slade. Rosanna was a clerk at Churchill Falls-Labrador Corporation. She really enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, and loved to spend time with her family. She is survived and sadly missed by her beloved husband of 41 years, Oswald; sons Christopher of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Joseph of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Michael of St. John's; cherished grandchildren Felicity, Ashlyn and Janessa; sister Marjorie Patey (Eric) of Kitchener, Ontario, Christina Pynn (Ian) and Greta Cull (Ern) both of St. Anthony; brothers Chester Slade (Elsie) of St. Anthony, and Keith Slade of Kitchener, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rosanna is predeceased by a brother Ronald Slade. Visitation took place at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 1 p.m. until time of the Funeral at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carol Smith officiating. FILLIER, Joyce Olive
Passed away suddenly at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Oct. 12, 2013 at the age of 63 years, Mrs. Joyce Olive Fillier of Englee, NL. Joyce leaves behind her husband Garfield Fillier; her sons Jeffery (Denna) Fillier of Englee, Craig (Cindy) Fillier of Vancouver, British. Columbia, Shawn (Darlene) Fillier of Englee, Jason (Colleen) Fillier of Cap-Pele, New Brunswick, and Damian (Robin) Fillier of Fort McMurray; daughters Debbie (Kevin) of Goose Bay and Paulette (Mohammed) of Alexandria, Egypt; brother Hiram (Leona) Randell of Goose Bay; sisters Jessie Burden of Gander, Ethel (Roy) Pilgrim of Goose Bay, Mildred Campbell of Goose Bay, Alma (David) Hynes of Twillingate, and Margaret (Hubert) Burden of Goose Bay; as well as grandchildren Justin, Jenna, Jeanessa, Kerry, Robbie, Jamie, Chantal, Kendra and Cynthia; great-grandchildren Robert, Sean, Brooklyn and Douglas, and a large circle of other family and friends. Visitation was held at the Salvation Army Church in Englee from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with Major Baggs officiating. Burial followed in the Salvation Army Cemetery in Englee. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

PATEY, Walter
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Patey of Port Saunders, NL announce his passing on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at River of Ponds, at the age of 88 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his brothers Leeland (May), Hawkes Bay, Donald (Donna), Corner Brook, and Gordon (Brenda), Ontario; sister Kathleen (Leroy) Newhook, Trinity Bay; two very special nieces Lillian (Humphrey) River of Ponds, and Edna of Corner Brook; great-niece Ashley; great-nephews Jamie, Dwayne, and Cory; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Hibbert and Hester, sisters Linda, Edna, Hilda, and Olive, brothers Roy, and Lionel. Visitation took place at St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Port Saunders on Friday and Saturday from where the funeral service took place on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. with Rev. REARDON, Hilda Maizie
Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Oct. 11, 2013, Mrs. Hilda Maizie Reardon of Goose Cove, NL in her 88th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Edward (Theresa), Daniel (Jose), Elmore, Ralph (Philomena), Eileen (Allister), Sheila (Bob), Carl (Wanda), and Brendon, a large circle of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Rosalind Pilgrim and Alice Reardon; special friends Garrett and Betty Anne Reardon, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ambrose and her two sons Sylvester and Gordon. Visitation took place at the funeral home followed by the funeral mass which was held on Monday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Goose Cove with Fr. Anthony Nwaohiri officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

SHORT, Olive
Passed peacefully away on Oct. 14, 2012 at the Blackadar Nursing Home in Ontario, Mrs. Olive Short, originally from St. Anthony, NL, in her 93rd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Mary, Kelvin, Rose, Evelyn, Baxter (Deborah), Jeanie, Hector, Genevieve, Kitchener (Susan), Craig, and Jimmy; her grandchildren Barbara, Chris, Jodi-Lynn, Rob (Michelle), Rick (Jennifer), Randy, Bobby, Todd, Jeffrey, Amy, Sheri (AZIZ), Sammy, Christopher, Katy, Jacklyn, Josh, Ashley, Matthew, Janesse (Sean), and Julie (Neil), great-grandchildren Ethan, Matthew, Sarah, Kaylee, Kyle, Tayshia, Mya, Victoira, Niall, and Krysta, first cousins Ted Patey, Dennis Patey, Violet Decker, and Rose Spurrell; as well as many relatives of the Noel and Patey families in St. Anthony and a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her sons Stafford and Chris. Cremation followed in Ontario. Interment followed at the old United Church Cemetery in Goose Cove on Saturday, Aug. 17. WEIR, Garland Wilson
Passed away into peaceful rest at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's on Oct. 14, 2013 after a struggle with illness, Mr. Garland Wilson Weir of Roddickton, NL in his 67th year. Garland leaves behind with a lifetime of loving memories his wife of 37 years Patricia; his son David (Annie-Mae); daughter Helga (Scott Parsons); grandson Jordan Weir; granddaughter Amber Weir; four sisters and one brother. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on the Saturday, Oct. 19 with Pastor G. B. Pinksen officiating. Burial followed the funeral service in the Roddickton Pentecostal Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

WELLS, Thomas
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Wells (1943-2013) of Port Saunders, NL, announce his passing on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 70 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his step-son Kenneth (Millicent); step-grandchildren Donavon and Julietta; brothers Morgan (Cecilia), Pond Cove, Howard (Helen), Port Saunders, and Sterling (Eileen), Brig Bay; sisters Mildred (Walter) Biggin, Port Saunders, and Ida (Elgin), Anchor Point; sisters-in-law Marion, and Darlene; and a large circle of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Doris, parents Kenneth and Hannah, brothers Frank, William, Isaac, and Claude, and sister-in-law Lydia. Visitation took place at Good Tiding Pentecostal Church in Port Saunders on Thursday evening and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steve Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
