Lily Jane Randell
was born on February 6, 1924 into the family of Jonathan and Naomi Newman. Others born to the family Daniel, deceased, William deceased, Deliah Pittman, deceased and Winnie Randell. Lily met her husband Manuel Randell at Little Harbour Deep, and they were married on October 27, 1947. To this union were born three children Fred, Alfreda (twins) and Celie. Manuel and Lily lived in the small fishing village of Little Harbour Deep until the resettlement program 1964 at which time the family relocated to Englee. Lily worked at the local fish plant until her retirement in 1989. She was an excellent seamstress and spent countless hours sewing for many people in the area. She would make a garment from a picture in a catalog, no patterns necessary. She spent many of her retirement years knitting slippers, socks, sweaters and some of the nicest baby outfits ever seen. In 1990 Manuel and Lily moved to Roddickton to be closer to their family. After Manuel's passing on September 19, 2001 Lily lived in her own home until late May of this year at which time, after suffering from a fall, decided to move into long term care at the Seniors Home at Roddickton where she resided until October when she was hospitalized at St. Anthony. She lived there until her passing on November 23, 2016 when she went to be with her Lord, her dream come true. Lily truly loved the Lord and dedicated her life to him at the young age of nine years. She attended church every Sunday, no matter what the weather, until last winter when her strength began to fail. By her passing, she leaves to cherish her memories, son Fred (Melina), Englee; daughter Alfreda (Ivan Cassell), Steady Brook; daughter Celie Parsons, Roddickton; sister Winnie Randell; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the burial was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27 with Rev. Chris Hewlett officiating. Burial followed the memorial service at the Apostolic Faith Cemetery, Roddickton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
