ADEY, Roger David
Passed on: November 26th, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mr. Roger David Adey of St. Anthony announces his sudden passing at his home on the 26th day of October, 2015. Mr. Roger David Adey was in his 54th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 26 years Jackie Adey; son Anthony Adey (Michael Crant); daughter Tara Adey; brother Sam Adey (Viola); sister Francis Avery (Herb); and brother Frank Adey (Joanne). He was also close with, and fondly loved his nieces Connie, Colleen, Crystal, and Carolyn, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Ethel Adey, father George Adey, and brother Morris Adey. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony from where the family memorial service took place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Cremation followed after the service. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CASSELL, Olive Georgina
Born: December 22nd, 1932
Passed on: November 5th, 2015

Olive was born in Englee on December 22, 1932 to James and Elizabeth Adams. She grew up with her brothers and sisters in Roddickton. She met and married Ralph Cassell on March 27, 1952 and they enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. She was a loving and compassionate person who dedicated her life to her family and helping others. She was generous to anyone who came to her door. She loved her family more than words can say. Her smile, humor and love will remain in our hearts. Passed away on November 5, 2015, Olive Georgina Cassell of Roddickton. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her loving husband Ralph; her precious children Lorne (Grace), Gary (Lilllian), Ruth (Wade), and Linda (Bramwell); grandchildren Chad, Sarah, Darren, Desmond, Laura, Jessica, and Victoria; great-grandchildren Anthony, Jade, Brianna, and Liam; her siblings Charlie, Clara, Rowena, Jasper, Leamon, Dorman, Evelyn, Triffie, and Jerry as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents James and Elizabeth Adams, her siblings Millie and Jim and grandson Deon. Visitation took place at the funeral home in Roddickton after which the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8 at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton with Lt. Randy Shears officiating. Interment followed in the Salvation Army Cemetery in Roddickton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CHAULK, Chris David John
Born: November 10th, 1957
Passed on: November 20th, 2015

Chris was born in Deer Lake on Nov. 10, 1957. In 1974 he moved to St. Anthony to live with his brother Gary and his wife Madonna. It was in St. Anthony that he met the love of his life, Gertie and together they had one daughter Kristie. They married on Nov. 20, 1976. Chris worked at various jobs until 1982, when he went to work with Maurice's Service Center as a truck driver. He remained there for 33 years. He served with the local fire department for 35 years in various roles. Most of all, Chris enjoyed spending time at his camper, fishing, hunting, picking berries and enjoying nightly campfires with his wife Gertie and buddies Stan and Donna. He was a man of few words but he loved to sit and listen to others with a grin. Chris David John Chaulk of St. Anthony passed away on November 20, 2015. Left to mourn the loss of Chris from their lives are his wife Gertie; daughter Kristie; fur buddie Jack; brothers Gary (Madonna) and Phillip; sister Cora (Frank); sisters-in-law Audrey (Joe), Donna (Stan), Linda (Rafe), and Rosemary; nieces and nephews Dawn (Eddie), Mike (Nivose), Jerry (Tina), Melissa, Dan, Julia (Guy), Chris (Tammy), Rochelle (Andy), Cory (Shelley), Deana (Rol), Gina (Brad), Sandy (Ivan), Heather (Trevor), and families, as well as a large group of other family and friends. Though a young man, Chris lived to see the passing of his mother Brada, father Sterling, brother Tony, and mother-in-law Mary Fillier, Big Nan Lavinia Fillier and brother-in-law Wilbourne Fillier. Visitation took at the funeral home in St. Anthony on Tuesday from where the funeral service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 25th with Major Baggs officiating. Donations in memory of Chris can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GREEN, Mabel
Born: January 24th, 1937
Passed on: November 7th, 2015
Mabel Green
was born on January 24th, 1937 to George and Nellie (Bessey). She was one of four children. On May 11th, 1953 she married John Green of Raleigh, and together they raised five beautiful children. Passed away on November 7, 2015, Mabel Green of Raleigh, in her 78th year. She leaves to mourn sons Wallace (Judy) and Alonzo (Michelle); daughters Edna (Martin), Hazel (Raymond), and Vivian (Tony); grandchildren Jill, Vanessa (Ashley), Krista (Bruce), Terri (Mike), Kellie-Rae (Corey), Shawn (Genina), Aaron, and Taylor; great-grandchildren Brady, Chloe, Tristan, Dylan, Liam and Madison. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John, parents George and Nellie Bessey, parents-in-law Elijah and Christina Green, sisters-in-law Nina Colbourne and Beatrice Green, brothers-in-law Hubert Colbourne, Henry Green, Amaziah Patey and Leonard Green. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Raleigh from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10 with Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

HEDDERSON, John Weldon
Born: June 24th, 1928
Passed on: November 9th, 2015
John Weldon Hedderson
was born on June 24, 1928 to Albert and Matilda Hedderson. On February 3rd, 1963, he married the love of his life, Susie Hedderson. Together they were blessed with five children. John was a fisherman all his life and an active member of the fisherman's union. He also ran the post office in Straitsview. John was a community oriented man who actively volunteered. He did not mind speaking with government officials and worked hard to ensure that the community received adequate funding. He was a fighter who would "go all the way" for what he believed in. Passed away on November 9, 2015, John Weldon Hedderson, in his 87th year. He leaves to mourn a large and loving family including his wife Susie; sons Terry (Natalie), and Dwight (Mary); daughters Ella (Wayne), and Elaine; sister Nellie (Walter); grandchildren Terry (Stephanie), Dillon (Elizabeth), Matthew (Robyn), Bryan, Jenna, Noah, and Arren; and great-grandchild Allison. John was predeceased by his parents Albert and Matilda, son Bryan, brothers Isaac, Marckus, Samuel, Jim, Noah, Edgar, Heber, and Leonard, and sister Marjorie. He will be forever loved and remembered fondly. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 13, with Pastor Baker officiating. Interment followed in the Quirpon Interfaith Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry. M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

MacWHIRTHER, Bessie
Born: October 31st, 1950

Bessie MacWhirter, (neƩ Cull)
; was born at St. Anthony on October 31, 1950. She was daughter to Lester and Maude Cull of Englee. Bess, as she was commonly known, was the second of eight siblings of the Cull family. She completed her schooling at the United Church School in her hometown. She was quite astute and took first place in the last three years of her hometown education. Actually she skipped one of her early grades allowing her to complete her grade 11 at age 15. She then went on to teach school at 16 years of age. Her first teaching post was at St. Anthony Bight. Here she taught students older than herself and as Bess would say "bigger too". Her first employment at Englee was playground attendant the first year the playground opened in this town. After her stint as a teacher she went on to St. John's and studied as a lab technician. She found employment with Grenfell Medical Services at St. Anthony and subsequently did work at North West River and Baie Verte. Later she moved to Corner Brook hospital and then on to Gander where she was head tech and supervisor for the Central general area. Because of her extensive training she was used as a resource person to teach other trainees. Due to her husbands' work as a long-haul trucker she moved to Leduc, Alberta where she found employment at the Devon Medical Lab. Her total employment counted 28 years of dedicated service. Actually Bess could be counted on to respond to a medical emergency any hour of the 24; come sun, rain, or blizzard. Bess passed away 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2015 at the White Bay Central Health Center. She leaves to mourn, her husband Frank; sons Richard (Tina), Frank Jr. (Lori); daughter Rebecca; grandchildren Rebecca, Nicholas, and Keesha; brothers Freeman (Glenda), Larry (Bessie), Wesley (Myrtle), and Morris (Josephine); sisters Ada (Donald Weir), Cindy (Hughie Crewe), and Winne (David Power); mother Maude; brothers-in-law Alfred (Rose), and Patrick (Joanne); step-brother Stanley Simms (Donna) and best friend of 46 years, Barbara Chaulk, along with many other friends and family. Bessie was predeceased by her father, Lester Cull. Visitation took place at Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 12 with Pastor George Burton officiating. Interment followed at the Apostolic Faith Cemetery in Englee. Funeral Services were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.

PARRILL, Norah Priscilla

Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on November 7, 2015, Norah Priscilla Parrill of St. Anthony, in her 78th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her beloved husband of 60 years, Andrew Parrill; daughters Yvonne Cull (Kevin), Wanda Beaudoin (Romeo), and Brenda Parrill; sons Boyce Parrill, and Ivan Parrill (Elaine); 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister Marjorie Adams (Jim); brothers Boyce Ford (Margaret), Roland Ford (Betty), Maurice (Jessie), Allan (Margaret), and Robert Ford along with a large circle of other family and friends. Nora was predeceased by her parents Pierce and Lucy Ford, son Leon Parrill, brothers Job Ford, George Ford, and Stewart Ford. Visitation was held at K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. Funeral services followed at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11with Rev. Fr. Paul Findlay officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery in St. Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PITTMAN, Christopher Joseph

Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 14th day of November, 2015, Mr. Christopher Joseph Pittman of Bird Cove in his 93rd year. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories his wife of 73 years Bridget Pittman, his children Michael John (Madelon), Theresa (Bud), William James (Jane), Mary (John Joe), Primus (Christine), Ronald (Gloria), Sheila (Hughie), Melvin (Mary), Maurice (Wanda), Eileen (Matthias), Christine (Royal), and Lorraine (Lawrence); brother Primus (Irene); sister Melina (the late Pius Gould); in-laws Bertha (the late Michael J Pittman), Maxwell Gould (the late Theresa Gould); as well as a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James and Theresa Pittman and his brothers and sisters, and their families. Visitation was held at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17 with Fr. Bosco and Fr. Gabriel officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

RICE, Raymond Adolphus

Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on the 7th day of November, 2015, Mr. Raymond Adolphus Rice of Main Brook in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memoires his sons Clifford, Leonard, and Morgan; daughters Lana, Lisa, Trena, and Phyllis; brother Gorden; sister Hazel; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Eliza, parents Adolphus and Celia Rice, and sister Shirley. Visitation was held at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Main Brook from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 10 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Reginald Skinner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

ROSE, Howard
Born: April 2nd, 1941
Passed on: November 8th, 2015

Passed away peacefully on November 8, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Howard Rose of Nameless Cove in his 74th year. He leaves to mourn daughters Jackie (Ron) Gallant, and Valerie (Richard) Dempster; grandchildren Ashley, Thomas, and Travis; siblings Marion Moores, Rita Davis, Allan (Jesse) Rose, Harvey (June) Rose, Evelyn (Dave) Budgell, Mary Furey, Hazel Simms, Grant (Lena) Rose, Wallace (Vina) Rose, Gloria (Cyril) Kelly, and an extended circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Lettie, son Ashley, parents Joseph and Evelyn (Decker) Rose, and brother Thomas. Visitation took place at the Gospel Hall in Nameless Cove from where the funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10 with Pastor Gaius Goff officiating. Interment followed in the Nameless Cove Gospel Hall Cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

TUCKER, Carl
Born: June 15th, 1944
Passed on: November 9th, 2015

Carl was born in Ship Cove on June 15, 1944 to Mamie Tucker. He was raised by his grandparents Kenneth and Elizabeth Tucker. He married Millicent Andrews on June 20th, 1968 and they raised four children, Trevor, Rene, Andy and Tim. Carl served as a foster parent to a number of children, most notably Jennifer Simms, whom he considered a part of the family. He worked at Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro for all of his adult life, retiring in 2004. Carl was very dedicated to his family. He loved the outdoors, especially winter. He loved to play guitar and mouth organ, and loved telling stories, laughing and making people laugh. He enjoyed being around other people and was a friend to everyone he met. Carl passed away into peace on the 9th of November, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He leaves behind his wife Millicent; children Trevor (Lesley), Rene (Steve), Andy (Maria), and Tim (Melissa); grandchildren Dylan, Alyssa, Drew, and Layla, as well as his brother Wilfred and a large circle of other family and friends. Carl lived to see the passing of his grandparents Kenneth and Elizabeth and his brother Val. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony, from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 13, with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society Craig's Cause. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
