PILGRIM, ANNIE
Resident of John M. Gray Centre
(Formerly of St. Anthony Bight)
1923-2002

Passed peacefully away on Nov. 1, 2002 at John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony. She was in her 79th year. She leaves to mourn daughters Gladys, Goldie (Ford), Betty (Philip), Karen (Jim), Glenda (Nat), June (Will) and Wendy (Bradley); sons Kye, Tobias (Robin), Eugene (Linda) and Ivan (Dinah); 34 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters Mae (Samuel) Durdle of St. John's and Mary (Bert) Janes of Brown's Arm, as well as a large number of other family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Jonathan, brothers Max (Jessie), Arthur (Mildred), Bill, Gideon (Lurley) and Francis, sisters Olive (Bud), Laura (Jack), Doris ( Norman ) and Minnie. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her. Visitation took place at the funeral home on West Street , St. Anthony. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 3 at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony with Capt. Richard Mouland officiating. Interment followed at The Salvation Army Cemetery in St. Anthony Bight. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

GENGE, SOPHIA
Anchor Point

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Nov. 5, 2002. She was in her 85th year. She leaves to mourn husband Matthew; son Amos of Anchor Point; daughters Marguerite ( Elam ) Penney of Cook's Harbour, Frances (Gerry) Gros of Anchor Point, Lillian White of Sandy Cove; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 with Rev. Elder officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

ELLIOTT, WAYNE
Raleigh

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Nov. 6, 2002. He was in his 51st year. Leaving to mourn sister Vida (Ross); brothers Samuel (Christine), Reg (Irene), Weldon (Alma), Garland (Pansy), Maxwell (Judy), Winston, Alvin (Yvonne) and Cecil, as well as a number of other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, Nov. 9 with Rev. Victor Hamlyn officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

GAULTON, SIMEON
Anchor Point

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Simeon Gaulton announce his passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at the age of 66 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Vivian; sons Whyman (Beatrice), Myles (Sharon) and Justin; daughter Stephanie (Andy); grandchildren Sheldon, Sharlene and Sabrina; sister Susan (James) of Anchor Point and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends from St. Matthews Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 with Rev. Robert Elder officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Anchor Point. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix/Bear Cove.

NEWCOMBE, MABEL MARY
Castor River

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mabel Newcombe announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Book on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 at the age of 73 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her husband of 55 years, Alexander; 16 children: Mary Scanlon (Brian), Ivan (Marty), Beatrice Caines (James), Clara Hynes (Tex), Sandy Jr. (Elva), Hazel Tatchell (Michael), Kerry (Shannon) and Alex, all of Castor River, Joyce Mahar (Guy), Ike (Rebecca), Vina Coulas (Steve), Hilda Penny (Lorne), Roy (Tina) and Doris Hutchings (Bob), all of Ontario, Jessie Taylor (Calvin) of Forrester's Point, and Cornelia Newcombe of Corner Brook; 32 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Clara Rumbolt (Arthur), Isaac Tatchell (Anora), Kevin Tatchell (Agatha), Joe Tatchell (Rebecca), and Gorden Tatchell, all of Castor River South, Nellie Plowman of Bartlett's Harbour, and Patrick Tatchell (Maggie) of Castor River North; sister-in-law and best friend Honora Newcombe of Bartlett 's Harbour; brother-in-law Tom Newcombe, as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Winnifred Tatchell and brother Henry. Friends visited Saint Ann 's Chapel, Castor River from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jack officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Bartlett 's Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

DUMARESQUE, HAZEL J.
Passed peacefully away at Captain William Jackman Memorial Hospital in Labrador City on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 at the age of 63 years. Left with a lifetime of fond and loving memories her loving husband of 45 years, Louis; six children, Debbie (Ed) Haley, Junior, Kevin (Valerie), Bobby (Debbie), Cavell, and Susan (Chris) Higdon; six grandchildren, Tara, Renee, Adam, Matthew, Caitlan Dumaresque and Sarah Higdon; and a large number of relatives and friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held at St. Paul 's Anglican Church in Labrador City on Sunday, Nov. 17, and the funeral service was held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in L'Anse au Clair on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 . In her memory, donations were made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

PYNN, AUGUSTUS
Quirpon
1930-2002

Passed peacefully away on Nov. 17, 2002 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He was in his 72nd year. He leaves to mourn wife Violet; sister Maude Blake (Wallace); brothers Albert (Effie) and Everett (Matilda); stepmother Elizabeth Pynn; halfsisters Phylis, Jessie, Agnes, Hazel, Mary, Jean and Cindy; halfbrothers Pearce, Gary and James. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Griquet from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 with Pastor Andrews officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery in Quirpon. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

TAYLOR, MYRTLE
Ship Cove
1918-2002

Passed peacefully away at John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Nov. 17, 2002. She was in her 84th year. Leaving to mourn husband Sidney; daughters Dora Tucker, Judy (Norman) and Sybil (Cecil); sons Wallace (Ivy) and Clayton (Pearl), as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Ship Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 with Pastor Bennett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

TAYLOR, MYRTLE
Ship Cove
1918-2002

Passed peacefully away at John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Nov. 17, 2002. She was in her 84th year. JENKINS, RENE
Brampton , Ontario 1981 - 2002
(Formerly of Roddickton)

Passed peacefully away at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton, Ontario on Nov. 21, 2002. He was in his 21st year. He leaves to mourn mother Diane Jenkins; father Raymond Wilcox of Brampton; sisters Trena and Tina of Brampton; brother Tadd of Brampton; nieces Shania and Brooke of Brampton; grandparents Mary Jane Jenkins of Corner Brook , Harvey and Viola Wilcox of Roddickton, as well as many other family members and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 with Rev. Rene S. Cassell officiating. Interment followed in the Apostolic Faith Cemetery , Roddickton. Pallbearers were Tadd Jenkins, Darius Welcher, Morgan Wilcox, Roddick Wilcox, Tommy Mudford and Sheldon Newman. Jamie and Crystal Jenkins placed the family wreath. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Roddickton, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

BYRNE, EILEEN MARY
Port au Choix
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eileen Byrne announce her passing on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders, at the age of 74 years. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Alice (Cyril) Bromley, Johanna (Jerry) Mahar, Mildred (Primus) Mahar and Phyllis (Philip) Bromley, all of Port au Choix, and Lucy (Victor) Byrne of Conche; sons Albert (Carmel) of Brents Cove, Louis of Nova Scotia and Austin of Edmonton; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Mildred McGrath of Conche; sister-in-law Kathleen Woodford of Goose Cove; special friends Aggie Gaslard and Stella Mailman of Port au Choix, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Michael and son Elias. The family received friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port au Choix on Friday, then at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche. The funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25 with Rev. Jim Robertson officiating. Interment followed at the family plot. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Fowler announce his passing at his home in Capstan Island on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories sons, Eric (Margie), Wayne (Gladys), George (Christine), Dorman (Dorcas) and Tim (Karen); daughters Ellen (Randell) and Mona; daughter-in-law Amanda; 16 grandchildren, Roslyn, Christopher, Melissa, Melodie, Rosetta, Melinda, Merlyn, Silone, Marcus, Harold, Randy, Mary, Dylan, Keith, Shena and Cole; great-grandchildren Marissa and Nathan, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Margaret and sons Ronnie and Doug. The family received friends from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating. WHALEN, ADOLPHUS

Feb. 22, 1969 - Nov. 30, 2002

The sudden passing of Adolphus Whalen occurred in Flowers Cove on Nov. 30, 2002. He was in his 33rd year. Leaving to mourn common-law wife Mary; daughter Sandi; parents Nelson and Emily; sister Lisa (Jarvis); brother Nelson Jr. (Kelly); grandmother Mary Ann Whalen; Flicky; nephews Cole and Jeff; Curtis, Shirley and families; aunts Haz (Jock) and Maria (Carl), uncles Raymond (Edith), Jim (Jessie), Jacob (Pauline), Walter (Caroline), Tom (Dulcie) and Mark (Emily). He is predeceased by his grandfather Adolphus Whalen Sr. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with Rev. Elder officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.
