CARNELL, Charles
Passed in: Flower's Cove
Passed on: May 28th, 2017

Charles was born to Sidney and Imelda Carnell of Flower's Cove on August 31, 1957. He was raised in Flower's Cove and on June 18, 1977 he married Leatrice Jones. They had two children. Charles was a hardworking man who was a business man for many years in Flower's Cove. In 1997 he and his family moved to Alberta where he worked as a salesman. He retired and returned home to Flower's Cove in 2012 after suffering a stroke. In December of 2016 he was diagnosed with cancer. He died at home on May 28th. He was a well loved and respected man. He is survived by his wife Leatrice, his son Roy (Vania), his daughter Roxanne (Dwayne), two granddaughters Jasmine and Selina. He is also survived by his mother Imelda, sister Maggie (Harold), brother Jim (Ena), his dog Marly, as well as nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father Sidney. He will be sadly missed. After cremation, visitation took place from the United Church in Flower's Cove, from where the funeral service was held on June 1st, 2017 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

COATES, Gideon
Passed on: May 10th, 2017

Passed away May 10th, 2017 at the age of 61 years. Gideon married the love of his life, June Sheryl Andrews, on November 28, 1975 and spent 41 years with her. They raised a family together. He loved his family, and his grandĀ¬children were his pride and joy. He loved spoiling them and praising them at every opportunity. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loving wife June; 3 children: Cordell, Colleen (Dion), Cindy (Donovan) and 3 grandchildren: Makayla, Cody and William; 7 siblings: Elsie (Chester), Ollie, Lelvie (Joe), Dian (Terence), Fanny, Seymour (Cora) and Elizabeth (Clyde); several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends. He is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Martha Elizabeth Coates. Visitation was held at the St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

DRUDGE, Captain John
Passed on: May 19th, 2017

Passed peacefully away at his home in Goose Cove, May 19, 2017 at the age of 77. John is survived by his wife, Evangeline and his daughters Anastasia (Kier) Knudsen and Natasha (Ryan) Flynn; brothers Patrick and William Drudge, Clifford (Mary Theresa) Kearney; sisters Bridget (John) Murrin, Anne (Wayne) Sedore; brothers-in-law Raymond, Maurice (Eileen), Brendan (Kim), Desmond (Martha), Kevin (Ann), Donald (Kirsten) McDonald; sisters-in-law Sheila Strangemore, Gertrude (Patrick) Troy, Mary (Harry Urschitz) McDonald, Ellen (Anthony) Sexton, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his son Desmond; parents John and Ellen Drudge; sisters Anastasia (Albert) Chaytor, Edna Drudge; parents-in-law William and Anastasia McDonald; sister-in-law Elizabeth McDonald; brothers-in-law Albert Chaytor and Graham Strangemore. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove with Fr. Ulahannan Thotra Joseph (Fr. George) officiating. Interment followed in the Goose Cove Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GENGE, Annie Mildred
Passed in: Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: May 5th, 2017
Peacefully passed away on May 5, 2017 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 85 years. Loving mother of Shawn of Fort McMurray and Dawn and Pere Noseworthy of Cambridge. Caring grandmother of Shawn Noseworthy (Toni), Mike Noseworthy (Rebecca), Marissa Genge (Chris), Sarah Genge, great grandson Nolan Jansen and great granddaughter Jamie Tanuan. Predeceased by mother Bridget Dredge and daughter-in-law Lucia Hinks. Visitation took place at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Anchor Point from 7 - 9 pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2 pm officiated by Reverend Omar Reyes, interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Anchor Point.

GIBBONS, Royal
Passed on: May 13th, 2017

Passed away May 13th, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 56 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Christine Gibbons; daughter Crystal Anna Gibbons; special niece Oriana P. Caines (goddaughter); mother Marjorie Gibbons; brothers Dennis (Cassie), Truman (Bernice) and Herman; sisters Celia (Ward), Ellen (Mike), Sheilagh (Lloyd); nephews and nieces Tamara (Steve), Nathan (Penney), DJ, Chelsey (Andrew), Michael, Joshua, Logan, Marissa (Doug), Christine (Leon), Mandy; great nieces and nephews Aubree, Kaci-Rae as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews in the Pittman family. Royal was predeceased by his father Nathaniel Gibbons; grandparents Isaac Gibbons and Sarah-Jane Coates, Walter and Mahala Applin; father-in-Law Christopher J. Pittman and mother-in-law Bridgett Pittman. Visitation took place from the Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral also took place on May, 17th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Bosco officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

GOULD, Melina Mary

Melina Mary Gould
passed away at the John M. Gray Centre on May 26th, 2017 at the age of 88 years. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories children Pius (Jessie), Maxine (Don), Jim (Imelda), Patsy, Maxwell (Pauline), Yvonne (Jim), Wayne (Janet), and Dean (Nadine); grandchildren Sheldon, Dale, Sean, Tyson, Jamie, Rendell, Ryan, Alex, Megan, Dylan, Janaya, and Matt; great-grandchildren Zachary, Alaina, Danielle, Cody, Gabriel, Tristan, Caleb, Preston, and Rylan as well as brother Primus Pittman Sr. and a large group of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Pius Gould, parents James and Theresa Pittman; brothers James, Christopher, Michael John, and Joseph, sisters Mary Alice Caines, Catherine Kennedy, Nellie Pittman, Florence Gould, Theresa Gould, and brother-in-law Jesse Gibbons. Visitation took place at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29 with Fr. Bosco officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Ebukwe, funeral director.

HOUSE, Hilda
Passed on: May 29th, 2017

It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Hilda House of Port Saunders announces her sudden passing on Monday, May 29th at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony at the age of 77 years. Hilda leaves to mourn with loving and cherished memories her two sons Robert (Velda) House and Donald (Tracy) House of Port Saunders; sister Laverne Lavers of Port Saunders; brother Lorraine (Kay) Hamlyn of Port Saunders; granddaughters Crystal House, Chloe House and Erica House; brother-in-law Donald Pike of Woody Point; sister-in-law Betty Kennedy of Rocky Harbour; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends from far and wide who loved her very much. She was predeceased by husband Reginald, parents Clara and George Hamlyn, sister Meta House, brothers-in-law Rendell House, Norbert Lavers and Harvey Crane. Visitation was held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, Port Saunders on Tuesday followed by the funeral service which took place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 officiated by The Reverend William (Bill) MacMullin (retired) of New Brunswick, a close family friend. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. Family and friends may sign the guest book, leave messages of condolence or an In Memorial donation to a charity of ones' choice, by visiting the website at www.fillatre.ca   Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre Funeral Homes Ltd in Port au Choix. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Port Saunders and Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony for their care and attention to their loved one.

McLEAN, Everton

Passed away on May 5th, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 years, Everton McLean. He leaves to mourn his wife Evelyn; children Dalton (Colleen) McLean, Garrison (Manette) McLean, and Faith (Jamie) Payne; grandchildren Everton Jr. (Karen) McLean, Garett (Anna) McLean, Brittany McLean, Alex (Amy) McLean, Andrew (Bianca) McLean, Justin Payne, and Ryan (Danielle) Payne; great-grandchildren Gabrielle McLean, Lincoln McLean, Russell McLean. Adrian McLean, and Alexander McLean; brother Baxter McLean; sister Pearl (Stewart) Mitchelmore, as well as a wide circle of other family and friends. Everton was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Beatrice McLean as well as his sisters Virtue McLean and Belinda Hughes. Visitation took place at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral was held on Monday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. PATEY, Ida
Born: December 19th, 1930
Passed on: May 8th, 2017

Passed away May 8, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 86 years. She was born December 19, 1930 to Miriam and Barton Green of Raleigh. She spent 26 years in Labrador City and moved back to St. Anthony in 1990 after the retirement of her husband Stewart. She was an avid knitter and expert crocheter, and had a love for gardening and flowers. Left with fond memories of her are son Charles (Kitty) and daughter Eileen (Ralph); grandchildren David, Melissa and Jonathan; great-grandchildren Benjamin, Jack, Ella and Ivy; brothers and sisters Lester (Irene), Melina (Stanley-late), Belinda, Joseph (Evelyn), Maisie (Richard), George (Kizzie) and Freeman (Barbara) and extended family. Ida was predeceased by her parents, son Wilfred and husband Stewart. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral which was held on Saturday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony with Captain Brown officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PITTMAN, Irene Isabella
Born: May 30th, 1939
Passed on: May 11th, 2017

Passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial hospital in St. Anthony on May 11, 2017, a few weeks shy of her 78th birthday. She was born on May 30th, 1939 and lived in Bird Cove. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Primus Pittman, of 61 years, her children Tom (Ciara), Lily (Angus), Nellie (Wally), Theresa (Prim), Prim (Annette), Dennis (Janet), Sharon (David), Desmond (Tammy), sister Mary (Victor), grandchildren Murray, Kimberley (Shannon), Jeremy (Shelley), Danan, Wesley, Felicia (Dylan), Ashley (Josh), Brandon, Lytora, Colten, Brayden, Garfield, Brock, & Brianna, great grandchildren Cody, Jada, Jorja, Taylor, and Jackson. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Elizabeth Gould, father Thomas Gould, son Martin, grandsons Anson and Josh, great grandson Jay, brothers Maxwell, Pius, Edmund, Tom, Simon, and sister Annie. Visitation took place at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove, from where the funeral service took place Sunday, May 14, at 11:00 AM. Interment followed in the Bird Cove Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

RANDELL, Chatfield
Passed on: May 19th, 2017

Chattie (born Feb. 13th, 1918) took her heavenly flight at the age of 99 on May 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolph and son Clifford and is survived by her children Marie (Spurgeon), Alfreda, Hazel (Ron), Clement (Doris), Meletta (Clyde), Mark (Loretta), Richard (Jean), Jean (Eugene), sisters Hetty Hempshall (Sheffield, England), and Nellie Humby of Roddickton along with 34 grandchildren and more than 160 great and great-great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. In addition to being a loving, dedicated wife and mother to a large family, Chattie spent over 70 years in faithful service with the United Church of Canada as a lay reader and Sunday school teacher. Her legacy of love and faith is a blessed gift to her family and to the lives of those she impacted throughout her long life. A celebration of life service was held on Thursday May 25th at 2pm, with visitation on Tuesday May 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Wednesday May 24th from 2-4 pm. Funeral service was held on Thursday May 25th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director. Donations in her memory can be made to the United Church of Canada, Englee Charge.

RANDELL, Ruth
Passed on: May 7th, 2017
Ruth Randell
passed away on May 7th, 2017 at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn her children Kathleen Ganitto, Wallace Randell, Dwayne (Rhonda) Randell, Perry (Deborah) Randell, and Paul (Elaine) Randell; brothers Earl, Eric, Baxter, and Dennis; sisters Maude, Mona, Loretta, Iris, Evelyn, Phyllis, and Selma as well as eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Luke and Stella Compton as well as her husband Garland. Visitation took place at the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12 with Pastor George Burton officiating. Interment followed in the New Apostolic Faith Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WHITE, Selina
Passed on: May 17th, 2017

It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Mrs. Selina White announce her passing on the 17th day of May 2017. She was in her 89th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Isaac, and George (Lucy); daughters Madeline, Nancy (Grenfell), and Wavey (Calvin); 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Alma Diamond. Visitation was held at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral service was held on Saturday May 20th with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican cemetery in Savage Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
