Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on May 5, 2009, Stewart Randell, age 83 years. Leaving to mourn wife Dorothy Randell, Bide Arm; sons Ralph (Tamar) Randell, Bide Arm, Matthew (Ethel), Bide Arm, Kevin (Linda) Randell, Bide Arm, Keith (Ida) Randell, Bide Arm, Woodrow (Barbara) Randell, Red Deer, Alberta, and Ross (Michelle) Randell, Roddickton; daughters Christina (Paul) Randell, Bide Arm, Barbara (James) Randell, Bide Arm, Audrey (Wilson) Bushey, Roddickton, and Olive (Booth) Reid, Kitchener, Ontario; brothers Chesley (Edith) Randell, Englee, and Cecil (Ida) Randell, Englee, 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, plus many other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Bide Arm from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday May 8, with Pastor Quinlan officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecilia Fannie Galliott announces her passing on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 80 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Harriet (John) Fennemore, St. Anthony, Sharon (Stephen) Taylor, Forrester's Point and Catherine (Lawrence) Lawless, Eddies Cove West; sons John (Alice), Eddies Cove West and Wilson (Della), Fort McMurray, Alberta; sister Bertha (Clyde) Plowman, Port au Choix; grandchildren Alvina, Marian, Vanessa, Denise, Noreen, Andy, Toby, Holly, Johnny, Christina and Melissa; great-grandchildren Brandon, Halen, Robyn-Lynn, Bjorn, Christine, Emma, Darcy, Julia, Jeffrey, K.C., Dustin and Shelby; great-great-granddaughter Zoey, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack), grandson John, parents Frank and Elizabeth Eastman and brother Michael Eastman. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Wednesday and Thursday. The funeral service was held on Friday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Port au Choix with Monsignor Jim Robertson officiating. Interment followed at Doctor's Brook Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. SAMSON, JAMES CLAYTON

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Samson announce his passing on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 76 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Olive of 50 years; sons Ward (Elaine), Main Brook, Scott, Bird Cove, and Rocky (Betty Ann), Paradise; grandchildren Ryan, James, Jeremy and Zachary; sisters Ursula (William) Chambers, Blue Cove, and Cora Payne, Ivy Durley Place, Flowers Cove; sisters-in-law Stella, Brig Bay, and Anita, Alberta, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Rosanna, brothers Thomas, William, Peter and Donald, sister Elsie, and daughter-in-law Linda. The family received friends at The Church of the Advent in Plum Point on Wednesday evening and Thursday from where the funeral service took place on Friday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gosse officiating. WWII Veteran Forestry Unit

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Albert Lewis of Conche, a veteran of Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit from 1940 - 1946. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 59 years Bride; two daughters Bridget (Dennis Porter) and Nellie (Collin Wall); four sons Steven (Rita), Don (Joan), Maurice (Alice) and Barry (Maxine); 11 grandchildren Renee, Courtney, Mark, Miriam, Clare, Jonathan, Jeffery, Jason, Victor, Aimee and Alicia; sister Madeline, St. John's; brother Harry, Conche, As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Ellen, sisters Cecilia and Mary. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Corner Brook on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Visitation continued on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from where the funeral service was held on Friday, May 22 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society or the War Memorial in Conche. SIMMS, Valance Roy
1934 - 2009

Val died at home on May 19, 2009 as was his wish. He retired from the Canadian Air Force after serving Canada for 36 years. Val was predeceased by his father Gilbert and brother Joyce. He is survived by his mother Beatrice, wife Norma, sons Todd (Cathy) and Randy (Lorraine); granddaughters Kayla, Gracyn, Sasha and Elisha; brothers Truman and Herb (Norma); sisters-in-law Hazel Johnston and Pat Willington; brother-in-law and best friend Larry Phillips (Leslie); nieces Jennifer, Kate and Vanessa; nephews Sam, Mike, Norman, Kevin, Monty and Terry. Val will be returned to his beloved Newfoundland.

OLLERHEAD, Dudley Nathaniel
St. Anthony
Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, Dudley Ollerhead, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories wife Phoebe; daughter Shirley (Truman) Coates; son Derrick (Sandy) Ollerhead; grandchildren Sherry Simms (Bob), Kris Ollerhead (Sarah) and Karen Dunphy (Tom); great-grandchildren Mitchell Simms and Aaron Simms; brother Bill Ollerhead (Greta); sister Phyllis Simms; sisters-in-law Naomi, Jessie (Bert), Alice, and Bessie (George); brothers-in-law Bill (Elizabeth) and Reuben (Millie), and a large number of relatives and friends. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Anglican Church in St. Anthony, with Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. WILTON, MICHAEL ALLAN

April 21, 1990 - May 22, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Michael Wilton announce his passing on Friday, May 22, 2009 in St. Anthony at the age of 19. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Augustine (Primus) Caines, Ontario; sons Aime (Margaret), Ontario, Emedee (Gertrude), Port Saunders, Stanley "Skip", Port au Choix, Stewart (Janet), Port au Choix, Edgar, Port au Choix and Dennis (Carol Ann), Port Saunders; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers Aime, Montreal, Adelor, Montreal and Frank, St. Barbe; sisters Laura, Montreal, Mary, Port au Choix and Emily, Port au Choix, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley (1996) and grandson Jeremy (1988).Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place on Monday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Port au Choix with Monsignor Jim Robertson officiating. HOUSE, BESSIE MATILDA (NEE BROWN)

Passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on May 29, 2009, Bessie Matilda House at the age of 88 years. She is predeceased by her husband Donald, son Llewellyn, daughter Gwen Ladouceur, grandson Randy House, mother Dot Elsworth, sister Nellie Noel, brothers Arch and Joe Brown, and half brothers Edgar and Max Elsworth. She is remembered with much love by her son Herb (Mazie); daughter Rachel (Kitch); granddaughter Gwen Kean (Tony); grandsons Sheldon House, Terry House and Paul Pickett (Pam), and great-granddaughters Jillian and Katrina Pickett, also fondly remembered by Roger Ladouceur, Ammon Pickett and Verna House. Bessie will be sadly missed by her special and devoted friend Linda Gould as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She is survived by sister Rachel Roberts; sisters-in-law Goldie Hewlin and Flora House; brother-in-law Eric House (Alma); half-brothers Rufus, Sidney and Claude Elsworth, half-sisters Edith, Biney and Mae. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church, Hawkes Bay from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday June 2, at 2 p.m. with interment at River of Ponds Cemetery.
