Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on May 5, 2008, Pastor Harvey Earle of St. Lunaire-Griquet, aged 84 years. Leaving to mourn daughter Irene ( Rex ); sons Woodrow (Monica) and Spencer (Audrey); brother Frank (Mary); sisters Marshall (Lew), Joyce (Noah) and Rita (Eric); brother-in-law John Humby; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren as well as a circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Livinia, son Calvin and daughter Lawney. Visitation took place at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St.Lunaire-Griquet, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, with Pastor Primmer officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PILGRIM, DORABELLE
Port Saunders

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorabelle Pilgrim announces her passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Leaving to mourn her niece Mary McCarthy; great-nieces and nephews Vincent (Sue) of Port Saunders, Dwaine of Oromocto, New Brunswick, Roxane (Jerry) of Rocky Harbour, Brittany, Brent, Tyler, Taylor, Nikita, Callie and Haylie. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Mary Pilgrim and a number of brothers and sisters. Visitation took place at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service was held on Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jim Robertson officiating. Interment followed in the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website at www.fillatre.ca

PYNN, THEOPHILUS
Raleigh

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on May 6, 2008, Theophilus Pynn, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn brother Joseph Pynn; sister-in-law Amelia Pynn; niece Susan, husband Bill (Jenna and Jacob); nephew John, wife Audrey (Paula, Lisa, Janet); nephew Ian, wife Christina (Sally, Jessie, Holly, Maria). He was predeceased by his brother Abil and sisters Lavinia and Jane. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Raleigh, from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, with Rev. Bruce Graham officiating. TWYNE, CINDERELLA (RANDELL)

Passed peacefully away, surrounded by loved ones, at John M. Gray Centre, St. Anthony on May 7, 2008, Cinderella Twyne, age 89 years. She is survived by her children George (Blanche), Daphne (Stafford), Alonzo (Lori), Ella (Robert), Pansy (Terry), Ronald (Peggy), Martha (Paul), and Douglas (Gloria). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers Chesley (Edith), Stewart (Dorothy) and Cecil (Ida), brother-in-law Abraham (Bessie) Twyne and sister-in-law Susie. She is predeceased by her daughter Alma Frances, her husband of 67 years Herbert, her parents Joshua and Sophia, brother and sister-in-law Hezekiah and Emma, and son-in-law Barry Newell. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 at the united Church, St. Anthony with Rev. McGonigle officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Arthur Skinner announces his passing on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 90 years. Leaving to mourn wife Madeline; sons Donald (Juanita), Roger (Ethel), Arthur (Mary), Cory (Patti) and Quinton (Sherry); daughters Marlene (Kevin), Edith (Nev) and Ann Marie (Eric); foster sons Colin (Holly) and Terry (Darlene); son-in-law Vince (Mary); grandchildren Rick (Penny), Trudy (Perry), Michelle (Paul), Michael (Tami), Cindi (Dale), Jamie (Vivian),Shawn (Patti), Trent (Michelle), Sara, Stephanie, Stephen C., Alyson, Josh, Ian, Patrick, Blake, Rebecca M., Amanda, Stephen M., Terri-lynn (George), Rebecca Y. (Shea) and Cherlyn (Tyson); great-grandchildren Thomas, Kyra, Matthew, Caileigh, Mackenzie, Joshua, Julia and Ocean; sister Marion Larkin, Connecticut, USA, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Elizabeth, first wife Evelyn, son Ricky, brothers Gordon and Edgar, and special nephew Roger. The family received friends at St. Thomas Becket Anglican Church in Port au Choix on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, May 12 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. Leaving to mourn sons Anthony (Evangeline), Edmund (Gertie) and Martin (Frances); daughter Annie Verenka (Ernie); brother Charlie Lewis (Jenny); grandchildren Jodi Verenka, Clayton Verenka, Jerry Reardon (Anne), Taffy Parsons (Daryl), Todd Reardon (Margaret), Perry Reardon (Renita), Kevin Reardon, Patsy Jollymore (Bruce), Judy Chaytor (Wade), Tina MacDonald (Corey), Kimberly Reardon (Wallace) and Jackie Reardon; 13 great-grandchildren and a number of half brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her first husband Joseph Reardon and her second husband John Reardon, daughter Annie Reardon, son Anthony Reardon, brothers Lawrence Lewis, Arthur Lewis, Dennis Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Ned Lewis, Peter Lewis, and sister Katherine Fontaine. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home St. Anthony. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12 at the Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove with Fr. Edmund officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.

BUTT, SOLOMON
L’Anse au Clair

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Solomon Butt announces his passing at the Long Term Care Unit in Forteau on May 10, 2008 at the age of 97 years. Leaving to mourn with fond memories are his children James (Evelyn), Audrey Flynn (Pierce), Priscilla Barney (Edward), Manuel (Olive), Bert (Dorothy), Denzel Philips, Sybil Letto (Eldon) and Mervyn; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Winnifred Butt. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, May 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marlaine Leggo officiating assisted by Rev. Norman Cutler. Interment followed in the Anglican Church Cemetery in L’Anse au Clair. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, L’Anse au Loup.

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on May 12, 2008, Leslie White, age 61 years. Leaving to mourn wife Augustine; sons Curtis (Dulcie) and Tyrone (Lila); granddaughters Breanna and Stephanie; grandson Jamie; sister Mary (Clyde) Applin; brother Absalem White; sisters-in-law Iris (Lambert), Olga (Albert), Joyce (Jim), Kit (Harvey) and Dorcus Baines; brothers-in-law Melvin (Olga), Harold (Shirley), George (Liz), Hayward (Jessie) and Wilfred (Theresa) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Passed away on May 15, 2008, Annie Hillier of St. Lunaire-Griquet, age 66 years. Leaving to mourn daughter Daphne (Michael); sons David (Betty) and Earnest; grandchildren Bradley, Travis (Sabrina), Blair, Blake, Emily, and Brittany; great-grandchild David; sisters Rita (Wilson) Fillier, Elizabeth (Ronald) Earle, Minnie (Charlie) Carter, also a circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place at Calvary Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, with Pastor H. Primmer, Pastor S. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Winnifred Perry announces her passing at the Bonne Bay Health Centre on Saturday, May 17, 2008 in her 80th year. She will be sadly missed by her children Nedean (Cyril) Major, Adelaide (Otto) House, Doris Thorne and Shawn (Amelia) Perry; daughter-in-law Rosemary Perry; Enos (Gloria) Perry and Norman (Dona) House; grandchildren Danny Major, Paula Thorne, Travis Perry, Gillian Perry, Lela Perry, Curtis Perry, Chantal Perry and Cody Perry; great-grandchildren Jessica House and Connor Caines; brother Bradley (Margaret) House; sister Aurelia Hull (John), brother-in-law Brinkley (Beatrice) Perry; sisters-in-law Loretta (Boyd) Laventure, Faye (Desmond) Sonley, Catherine Perry, Mary House, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Howard Perry, parents Caroline and Augustus House, in-laws Norman and Cora Perry, sisters Doris Payne and Flora Bennett, brother Clayton House, brothers-in-law John Hull, Clayton Payne, Stanley Bennett and Curtis Perry and sister-in-law Myra Perry. He was predeceased by his father Samuel, brothers Wallace and Philip and sisters Doreen and Elsie. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church on Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 20 with Pastor Eugene Gillett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery in Port Hope Simpson. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on May 22, 2008. Jemima Pilgrim, age 87 years. She is survived by her son Roy (Jennifer); daughter Joyce (David Hindson); four grandchildren Brian (Kim), Kirby, Catherine and Wendy and one great-grandchild Seth; brother Heber (Thelma); sisters Violet (Leslie) and Sarah (John), as well as brothers-in-law George Ward and Lee Fennemore and sister-in-law Naomi Colbourne. She was predeceased by her husband Spurgeon, son Craig, and her parents, brothers Andrew, Ferdinand, Albert and Freeman and sisters Julie and Caroline. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at United Church in St. Anthony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25 with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Passed peacefully away in St. John’s on Saturday, May 24, 2008, Lloyd House, age 84 years. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen, daughter Blanche, parents Charlotte and Grant House, brothers Ralph and Hiram, sister-in-law Beatrice, parents-in-law Cassie and Jack Brophy and brothers-in-law Ross and Reg Brophy. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his three children Reg (Vera), St. John’s, Edna (Gus Mahoney), Corner Brook and Henry (Briggitte), Saskatchewan; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Rachel, Daniel’s Harbour, Margaret Alexander (David), Florida, Patricia Kettle (Nathan), St. John’s and Grace Brophy, Roddickton; brothers-in-law Gerald Humber (Barbara), Daniel’s Harbour, Calvin Brophy (Ethel), Jackson’s Arm and James Brophy (Joan), St. John’s; very dear aunt Vera Combden, St. John’s, and special friend Stella Pearce of Daniel’s Harbour, as well as many other relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn sisters Beatrice (William) Wilcox, Julia (Jesse) Bushey, Marie Hancock and Isabella (Edward) Hancock, all of Roddickton, and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husbands Thomas Hancock and Wilfred Wilcox, and daughter (adopted) Mary Edwards. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service took pace at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28 with Rev. Rene Cassell officiating. Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, May 27, 2008, Iris Poole, age 78 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories Paul (husband of 62 years); daughter Joyce Holly (Tom); sons Ronald (Alma), Terry (Florence), Edgar (Dora) and Truman (Shirley), all of St. Lewis; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one nephew Calvin Poole of St. Lewis; one niece Rebecca Brown of North West River, Labrador, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Iris was predeceased by parents Charlotte and Arthur Poole, and brother Hughie Poole. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in St. Lewis, and Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral service was held Saturday, May 31 at the Anglican Church in St. Lewis with Rev. Nicholas officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
