Helen was born in Great Brehat on March 24, 1924 to Thomas and Emily Jane Cull. She lived her young life in Great Brehat, and then moved to L'Anse aux Meadows where she married the love of her life, Job Anderson. They raised one child, Delena, whom they cherished more than life itself. Helen Anderson of L'Anse aux Meadows peacefully passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony at 4:45 a.m. on Friday, March 18th, 2016. Left to mourn her daughter Delena (Graydon); grandson Scott (Christine); great-grandchildren Emil and Grant; sisters Olive Simms, and Florrie Keats; brother Walter (Helena) Cull; brothers-in-law Max (Gladys) Anderson, Dorman (Rose) Anderson; sisters-in-law Dot Anderson and Pearl Anderson and a large circle of nieces and nephews, other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Job, and parents Thomas and Jane Cull. Visitation was held at the Central United Church at Quirpon branch, from where the funeral service was held on Monday, March 21 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Burial followed in the L'Anse aux Meadows Community Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

It is with great sadness that the family of William Applin of Eddies Cove East announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He was in his 75th year. William was a kind, funny man and enjoyed spending time with loved ones, playing cards and regaling tales from the past. William was a hard-working man and thoroughly enjoyed his career as a fisherman. Some of his happiest times were those fishing with his brother and nephew. William was an honorable man, a loyal brother, a revered uncle, a reliable friend, a cherished father and a devoted, loving husband. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Left to mourn with loving memories are his wife Dulcie; his girl Marvella; his son-in-law Ted Wells; his sisters, Irene (Lawrence) Taylor, Sybil Taylor (Scott Samson), Naomi (Hubert) Hughes, Donna (Calvin) Hughes, and Edna Taylor (Michael Gibbons); sisters-in-law Rachel Applin, Hazel (Walter) Williams, Marjorie (Nicholas) Hughes, Beulah (Bruce) Coates, Laura Parrill, and Rachel Parril; brothers-in-law John Parrill, Will Evans, Stewart (Juanita) Parrill, Wilson (Violet) Parrill, and Wallace (Thamsie) Parrill; special nephew Derek (Susan) Applin, and his furry companion, Paddy, as well as large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Eliza Applin, brothers Richard Henry, Hansel, Walter and Edmund, sisters, Mary Elizabeth Parrill, and Kizzie Evans, brothers-in-law Roland Taylor, Walt Taylor, Cecil Parrill, Gordon Parrill, John (Rosie) Parrill, and sisters-in-law Olga and Evelyn Parrill. Visitation took place at St. Andrew's Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral was held on Saturday, March 5th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emily Shirley Chambers of Bear Cove announces her passing on March 3, 2016 at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 81 years. She leaves to mourn children: Emelene (Marcus), Roland (Gladys), Blanche (Albert), Curtis (Leah), Terry (Karen), Louise (Marvin) and Mary (Ron); grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Curtis and sons Calvin and Oswald. Visitation was held at St. Boniface Church in Bear Cove on Saturday, March 5th with a family service following at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service took place at the church on Monday, March 7 at 11 a.m. with Rev. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mr. Garry George Pilgrim announces his sudden passing at his home in Main Brook on the 11th day of March 2016. Mr. Garry G. Pilgrim was in his 64th year. PILGRIM, George Bramwell

George Bramwell Pilgrim was born November 16, 1925 to Lucy and Bramwell Pilgrim. On September 11, 1959, he married the love of his life Margaret Hussey. He lived in Little Brehat where he fished until 1961. He then resettled to St. Anthony and fished for a while, then took up employment as night watchman at the College of the North Atlantic, retiring at the age of 65. Through his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, berry picking, gardening, playing cards, catching smelts for their cat Tigger and singing Christian hymns. George passed away into peace on the 2nd of March, 2016. He leaves to mourn sister Maisie; sister-in-law Maisie (Morgan) Morgans. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Margaret, his parents, brothers Donald (Violet) and Spurgeon (Jemima), sisters Valetta (Reuben) Cull, Florrie (Abram) Richards, and brother-in-law Clem. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service took place at St. Anthony United Church at 2:00 p.m. on the 5th of March with Rev. Dinesh Gomes officiating. Burial followed in at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Woodward at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on March 26, 2016 at the age of 73 years, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband William Woodward, parents Clara and Noah Woodward, sisters Elizabeth, Vina, Nellie, and Rosmond, and brothers Theophilus and Noah. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her son Rod (Charlotte); daughters Cindy (Graham), Sandra (Steve) and Jennie (Dean); grandchildren Chelsea, Nicholas, William, Heidi, Dillon and Hailey; very special companion George Smith; sisters Hope (Lorne) and Elvia (David); brother John and nephew Trevor (Louise), a well as a large circle of other family and friends. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes in St. Anthony. The funeral service was held in North Boat Harbour on Wednesday, March 30 with Rev. Findlay officiating. Our mother, grandmother, companion, aunt, sister and friend was very special and hardworking. She always had a way of putting everyone first. She lived life letting everyone know how much they meant to her. Rest in peace our sweet angel.
