Awaiting his arrival in heaven his loving wife of 49 years Evelyn, son Sherrod; son-in-law Cecil Penney, two grandsons Dana Budgell and Jeffrey Penney; his second wife Verna; sister Violet (Gideon), and brother Henry (Minnie). He will be sadly missed by son Calvin (Sharon); daughters Audrey (Gus) Yepiz, Glenys (Steve) King and Marina (Ivan) Thomas; nine grandchildren Beth (Ryan), Erika (Chris), Adam (Megan), Danae (Justin), Andre (Janelle), Kendra (Greg), Kody, Kory and Joel; three great-grandchildren Shayne, Fiona and Bridget; sister Mrs. Deborah Rowbotham and two brothers Fred and Charles (Bessie). Visitation took place on Wednesday, March 3 at Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. The funeral service took place on Thursday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church with Pastor Ryan Harnum officiating. Burial followed at the family plot on Wights Road, Deer Lake. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Crann Kids Orphanage in Nigeria in Williams memory and would be gratefully appreciated by the family. 100% of these donations go directly to the Orphanage Fund. It is with great sadness the family of the late James (Jim) Matthew Poole announce his passing on March 2, 2010 at the family residence in St. Lewis (Fox Harbour) at the age of 72 years. Jim leaves to mourn with loving memories wife Doreen; children Joan (Peter), Andy (Effie), Keith (Susan), Timothy (Jennifer); grandchildren Joey, Danielle, Jody, Courtney, Alysha, James, Adam, Alana and T.J.; siblings Hubert, Albert, Elizabeth Gatherall, Provee and Eldred; as well as a large circle of other family and friends, especially Pauline Brown. Jim was predeceased by parents James and Mary Poole, brothers George and Leander. Visitation took place at St. Mark's Anglican Church in St. Lewis from where the funeral service was held on Thursday, March 4 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Julie Nurse-Dicks officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery.

Passed peacefully away surrounded by family at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mr. Edgar (Bud) Best age 73 years. Mr. Best leaves to mourn his loving wife of 45 years Patricia; his two daughters Cathy, (Perry), and Carol (Jim); five grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Luke, William, and Ben. He is also survived by his sister Frances (Lewis); sisters-in-law Margaret and Evangeline and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Edgar (1976), mother Gertrude (1992), brother Robert (1974), and brother Norman (2009). Visitation was held at the funeral home followed by the funeral service at St. Anthony United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. John McGongile officiating. GILLEY, Bertram Frederick

It is with great sadness the family of the late Bertram Frederick Gilley (Nov. 11, 1929 - March 3, 2010) announce his sudden passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in his 80th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Elizabeth (nee Hutchings), his children Harold (Belinda), Myles (Cheryl), Loretta (Steve Wilson), Eileen (Les Stantien), Geraldine (Alex Rumbolt), Della (Eddie Laing), Winston (Thelma), Darren (Charlene), and Bonnie Lou (Didier Ocana); his 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; his siblings Lucy Gill, Richard (Laverne), Alexander (Eileen) and sister-in-law Lillian. Bertram was predeceased by parents Mildred and Alexander Gilley, his step-father Adam Gill, his sister Eunice and his brother Joseph and brother-in-law Clyde Gill. He also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends. Visitation took place at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Sally's Cove, Saturday, March 5 from where the funeral service took place on Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Leaving to mourn with loving memories children Christine Macey (William), Gladys Simon (Tony), Vera Hughes (Claude), and Truman (Sherry); grandchildren Dwight Macey (Josie), Shane Hughes (Deanne), Michelle Collins (John), Jackie Lewis (Robert), Andy Hughes (Dora), Bruce Perry (Charmaine), Jonathan Simon, Ryan Hughes, and Nathan Macey; great-grandchildren Brandi and Jada Macey, Adam Hynes, Nicholas and Lauryn Collins, and Jackson Lewis; sisters Sarah Mouland and Marjorie Powell (Lewis), as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred and parents Ambrose and Nellie Layden, and sister Christina Layden. Visitors were received at the Red Bay Gospel Hall on Saturday, March 13 from where the funeral service took place Sunday, March 14, at 2 p.m. with Mr. Randell Layden and Mr. David Swan officiating. Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre, March 19, 2010 Mr. Isaac Toope of St. Barbe, in his 71st year. Isaac is remembered by Mona, and leaves to mourn his children Sadie (Harry), Peggy (Dion), Ann (Toby), Sharon; his grandchildren Brady, Michaela, Roland, Christopher, Christina, Andy and Amber. Also, his brothers and sisters Wilson (Cinderella), Cicely (Selby), Whyman (Emeline), Nicholas (Ivy), Leslie (Edith), Sharon (Reginald), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Isaac is predeceased by his parents James and Mary, sisters Margaret, Elva, Shallottie and brother Abraham. Visitation took place at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. PILGRIM, STERLING MAXWELL

Passed away at John M. Gray Centre on March 21, 2010, Mr. M. Sterling Pilgrim of Griquet, in his 82nd year. Sterling leaves to mourn his brothers Lewis (Marshall), and Wilson (Pheobe); sisters Edna and Beryl as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Orland in 1938, his mother Bertha (Patey) in 1937 and sister Marjorie in 1997. Visitation for Mr. Pilgrim was held at the Pentecostal Church in Griquet, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24 with Pastor H. Primmer and Pastor T. Pitcher officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

LEWIS, Bridget Mary (nee Casey)

Passed peacefully away on March 21, 2010 at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook surrounded by her loving family, Bridget Mary Lewis (April 18, 1921 - March 21, 2010). She was predeceased by Albert, her beloved husband of 60 years on May 18, 2009; parents Stephen and Ellen Casey; brother William Casey; sisters Margaret Hunt, and Angela Power; brothers-in-law Patrick Hunt, and Stanley Power; and sister-in-law Gertrude Casey. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories six children Stephen (Rita Barrett), Conche, Donald (Joan), Corner Brook, Maurice (Alice), King's Cove, Nellie (Colin Wall), Grand Falls-Windsor, Barry (Maxine), Corner Brook, and Bridget (Dennis Porter), Corner Brook. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Ann Jackman, Corner Brook; sons John (Rosalie) Pittman, Bird Cove and Kevin Pittman (Bonnie Young), Corner Brook; grandchildren Chris Pittman (Jean Nicholas), St. Anthony, John Jackman, (Deanna Park), Corner Brook, Belinda Pittman, (Jerry Kean), Corner Brook, Merle (Sharon) Pittman, Sackville, Nova Scotia, and Ayeshea (Stacy) Pittman, Alberta; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Pittman, James Park, Lauren Pittman and Brody Pittman, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Annie Pittman, sisters Aggie Langer and Amelia Hynes and brother John W. Pittman. Friends visited the Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 31, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Roger officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bird Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook and Port au Choix. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Senna Hoddinott announce her passing on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 72 years. She leaves to mourn daughters Duleina (Kirby) Spence, Port au Choix, and Leona and son Sheldon of Hawkes Bay; grandchildren Kayla, Korey, Jamie, Zachary and Dana; brothers Algie (Annie), Hawkes Bay, Dick (Thelma) Perry, Alberta, Bet Payne, Port Saunders; daughter-in-law Muriel, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, son Wayne, grandson Jimmy, parents Bartholomew and Ester Perry, brothers Bud, Reuben, Hubert, Nigel, and Jim, and sister Adelaide. The family received friends at Holy Innocent Anglican Church in Hawkes Bay on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, River of Ponds. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on March 28, 2010 Myrtle Mitchelmore of in her 81st year. Myrtle leaves to mourn her husband George Henry Sr.; son Calvin (Wavey) and daughters Gladys (John), Mary Rachel (Herbert), Enid, Joy (Dennis), and Gail (Sidney); grandchildren George Henry Jr., Sheldon, Johnny, Michelle, Rocky, Kerry, Gina, Katie, Kianna, as well as great-grandchildren Kristen, Skye, Slayde, Kent, Riley, Addison, Aaron, Harlee, Jimmy Mclean (almost grandchild); sister Rita (Edgar); brothers Chesley (Edna), Calvin (Lillian), and Abraham (Millie); special aunt Thelma (William); brother-in-law Garfield (Alma); sisters-in-law Glayds (George), Miriam (late Ronald). She was predeceased by her mother Rachel, father William, brother Roland, mother-in-law Mary Ann, and father-in-law Albert. Visitation took place at the St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 31 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Canon Hubert Vallis officiating. Burial followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
