LODGE, NATHAN JACK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nathan Jack Lodge announce his passing on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 69 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Daphne; daughter Darlene (Jim) Tuff; sisters Nellie Mews, St. John's, Mildred (Eric) Bowdridge, Deer Lake, Hayward (June) Lodge, Port Union, and Gilbert (Marilyn), Greenwood, Nova Scotia; brother-in-law Harrison Blackmore, Ontario; a very special lady Lola Kelly-Payne, and very special friends Georgina and Wilson Barnes, Grand Falls, and Shirley and Dennis Gaslard, Port au Choix, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and fellow lions and lionesses. He was predeceased by his parents Mark and Sarah Lodge, brothers Harold and Donald, sisters Ruth, Margaret, and sister Mabel who passed away one hour prior to Jack's passing, brother-in-law Sam Mews, sisters-in-law Joyce, Audrey Lodge, and Audrey Gale, parents-in-law William and Emily Cooper. The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m., and 7- 9 p.m. The funeral service tool place at St. Thomas Becket Anglican Church with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations can be made to the Lions Club for Daffodil Place. WHITEWAY, Ignatius
St. Julien's

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, in St. Anthony Ignatius Whiteway age 78 years. Leaving to mourn wife Laura; sons Ronnie (Marina), Eddie (Lottie), Wilf (Jean), Don (Andrina), George (Louise), Wade (Georgina), Ross (Zoey), and Tyson (Sherry); daughters Nellie (Ralph), Mary (Dorm), and Ruth (Russ); sister Nora (Tim); brother Jack (the late Maude Whiteway); 25 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by Bride (Pad). Visitation took place at St. William's Roman Catholic Church, St. Julien's from where the funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, with Fr. Devas Vargees officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home St. Anthony, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

LETTO, KATHLEEN
L'Anse au Clair

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kathleen Letto announce her passing at Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau on March 7, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories sons Donald (Melita), Larry (Marie-Stella), Louis (Agatha); daughters Elizabeth, Phyllis Gibbons (Eugene), Mary Letto (Craig Letemplier) and Beverly Letto (Scott Patey); 16 grandchildren Nadine, Nathaniel, Ronnie, Sherry Lee, Meagan, Felicia, Sylvaine, Peter, Tommy, Jennie, Jennissa, Matthew, Patrick, Kelly, Olivia, and Sara; three great-grandchildren Chase, Morgan, and Gracie, one brother Eldridge Dumaresque, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Peter. Visitors were received at the Anglican Church in L'Anse au Clair on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral services took place on Monday March, 9, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dean Sellers officiating, assisted by Rev. Norman Cutler and Rev, Marlaine Leggo. Interment followed at the church cemetery in L'Anse au Clair. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

DECKER, DULCIE MAE (nee Payne)
Parsons Pond
May 28, 1913 - March 9, 2009

Passed peacefully away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Dulcie Decker, at the age of 95 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband, Gordon Decker, Parsons Pond; children; Graham Payne (Rhoda), Parsons Pond, Madeline Wells (Lloyd), Irishtown, Elwin Decker (Shirley), London, Ontario, Ted Decker, Corner Brook and Mona Decker, Cow Head; 22 grandchildren including special granddaughter Paula Decker; 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her beloved cat Trixie; sister Mona Little (Walter); sisters-in-law Eva Bannister, Vivian Payne, Violet Hewlin, Gwen Hewlin and Eileen Hewlin; brothers-in-law Len Decker, Cyril Decker (Phyllis) and Amos Payne, as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husband Stedman Payne, mother Susie Payne, father George Hewlin, brothers Guy Payne, Mike, George and Jack Hewlin and sister Rhoda Hewlin, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Decker, brothers-in-law Lew Decker, and Philip Payne, sisters-in-law Cookie Payne, Lily Taylor, Beulah Payne and Eva Payne. Visitation took place from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Parsons Pond on Wednesday, March 11 starting at 2 p.m. from where the funeral service was held on Thursday, March 12, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charlene Laing officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations graciously accepted to St. Peter's Anglican Church, Parsons Pond or to the charity of one's choice. HODDINOTT, Amy (nee Wells)
Brig Bay
Feb. 17, 1931 - March 9, 2009

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on Monday, March 9, 2009, Amy Hoddinott (nee Wells) at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre in St. John's at the age of 78 years. She leaves to mourn her children Bernadine (Martin Wiseman), Wade (Barbara Galway), Susan (James Overton), Bud (Michelle Purcell), Carol (David Spear), Will and Brenda; grandchildren Todd, Cory, Patricia, Gavin, Ann, Brett, Audrey, Amy, Lisa, Clyde, Jill, Jordon, Kate, Will, Jesse, and Maddie; great-grandchildren Liam, Keiren, Emma, Sarah, Abigail, Nikala, Joshua, Benjamin, Noah, and Jack. She also leaves to mourn a number of nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers-in-law, friends and extended family. Amy was predeceased by her husband Clyde on Aug. 30, 1996, her granddaughter Carla, and her daughter-in-law Gloria. Amy loved her wonderful life which focused on her friends, and hobbies, especially gardening. Her friendships lasted a lifetime. A true woman of Newfoundland, she respected hard work from raising her seven children to picking berries, drying capelin, and running a very successful business. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. One of her main goals in raising her family was to ensure they pursued and received a good education. Later in life she loved to spend her winters surrounded by friends from across Newfoundland in sunny Florida where she loved competitive game of cards, travel and the cultivation of more friends. All of those who knew her well use a single word to describe her, "sweet". She is now resting in the peace and will be sadly missed by all. The family received family and friends at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point, Thursday March 12, and Friday March 13, where the funeral took place at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Burial to followed at the church cemetery in Brig Bay. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. RUMBOLT, Rendell

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Rendell Rumbolt announce his passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Monday March 9, 2009 at the age of 42 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his son Michael; parents Jerome and Naomi; sister Cassie (Dennis); brothers Randy, and Earnie (Deanna); nieces Chelsey, Cornelia, Eden, and Amber; nephew DJ; a very special person Eugene Plowman Jr.; godchild Wade; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. The family received friends at Our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Castor River South on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service took place on Friday at 2 p.m. with Fr. CUNARD, Stanley

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on March 9, 2009, Stanley Cunard, age 70 years. Leaving with a lifetime of memories wife Vivian; children Winnie, Linda (Pius), Boyd (Judy), and Alphonse (Stella); grandchildren Teraceta, Chantel, Christi, Brady, Nadine, Karen and Tim; great grandchildren Ty and Luke; brothers Frank (Alfreda) and Cecil (Lilly). He was predeceased by parents Winnifred and Hubert Cunard, brother Pierce, sister Lillian Pittman, mother and father-in-law Clarcy and Chesley House, brothers-in-law Walter John Pittman, Sterling Sinnicks and Harris House. Visitation took place at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday March 12, with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. FITZGERALD, Stan Daniel

Sept. 17, 1954 - March 14, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stan Daniel Fitzgerald announce his passing on March 14, 2009 at Vancouver Island, British Columbia in his 54th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Tamara; son Trevor (Danielle); father Gerald Fitzgerald; sisters Mary (Henry), Linda, Judy (Paul), Betty (Nick) and Helena; special friends Jerome Byrne, Shawn and Annette Payne, and a large circle of nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and relatives from coast to coast. He was predeceased by his mother Nellie. The family received friends on Saturday March 21, at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from where the funeral took place on Monday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Devas Varghese officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, Corner Brook. At his request cremation followed. BRIDGER, John Harvey
St. Lunaire-Griquet

Passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on March 16, 2009, John Bridger of St. Lunaire-Griquet, age 73 years. Leaving to mourn wife Stella; children Barry (Glenora), Nath (Glenda), Jackie (Richard), Leona (Larry), Bride (Roger), Netta (Ernest), and Patricia (Warren); sisters Margaret, Annie, Gloria (Jerry), Rita (Ray), Louise (Jim), and Madeline; brothers Caleb (Margaret), and Philip (Betty); 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, very special friends Violet and Carl Hillier, Rhoda and Lloyd Parsons, and a wide circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Sarah and William Bridger and his sister Elizabeth Mugford. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Dark Tickle from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday March 20, with Rev. Bruce Graham officiating. LETTO, Edith
L'Anse au Clair

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edith Letto announce her passing at Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau on March 19, 2009 at the age of 94 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories daughters Muriel Chubbs (Leslie); Louisa Chubbs (Clifford), Edith and Loretta Griffin (Robert); sons Stephen (Shirley), Wilfred (Betty), Manuel (Marie), and Melvin (Doris); 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; sisters Beatrice and Victoria, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Benjamin. Visitors were received at the Anglican Church in L'Anse au Clair on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday March 21, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marlaine Leggo officiating assisted by Rev. Norman Cutler. Interment followed at the church cemetery in L'Anse au Clair. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Passed away at the Strait of Belle Isle Health Clinic Centre on March 19, 2009, Wilson Brown of Brig Bay, age 74 years. Leaving to mourn wife Barbara; daughters Diane and Christine; sons-in-law Douglas and Wilson, grandchildren Brittany, Danielle, Crystal and Stephen; great-grandchildren Danika and Andrea; four sisters; two brothers; seven brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; special cousins Clayton and Mildred; special niece Marlyn, and many other nieces and nephews and special friend Stu. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Susanna and sister Margaret. Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday March 23, with Rev Kris Gosse officiating. VERGE, DOROTHY ELIZABETH (nee KEOUGH)
Parsons Pond
Nov. 30, 1908 - March 22, 2009

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, Dorothy Elizabeth Verge (nee Keough) at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Sunday March 22, 2009 in her 100th year. Leaving to mourn her children Regina (Emons), Evelina (Alex), Ernest (Mona) and Nickie (Hazel); 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Mother was predeceased by her husband Fred Verge. Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relativities, friends and her extended family. Visitation took place at St. Peter Anglican Church in Parsons Pond, on Tuesday from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m. with Canon John Meade officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Parsons Pond. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre on March 24, 2009, Elsie Reid Sr. age 86 years. Left with a lifetime of memories four sons Oliver (Marie) Reid, Roddickton, Calvin (Elsie) Reid, Roddickton, Eddie (Wanetta) Reid, Roddickton, Fred Reid, Stephenville; three daughters Minnie (Edwin) Fillier, Roddickton, Vernetta (Freeman) Brown, Roddickton, and Mae (William) Blanchard, Roddickton; one brother Leander Hancock, Roddickton; 22 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren, plus many other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27 with Rev. Rene Cassell officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of Donald (Rod) Croucher announces his passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on March 25, 2009. He leaves to mourn his wife, Dianne Donnelle of Waasis, New Brunswick; son, Rod (Melanie) Croucher of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; brother Carl (Debbie) Croucher of Fredericton, New Brunswick; sisters, Lillian (Russell) Corey of Labrador and Dora (Cliff) Strangemore of Main Brook, Newfoundland, and grandchildren Brittney and Paige Croucher. Donald was predeceased by his parents Jack and Hazel Croucher, brothers Victor and Roy Croucher and sister June Astle. Visitation was held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Friday, March 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place at St. Lukes Chapel, CFB, Gagetown on Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. with Padre Malcolm Berry officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 held a tribute service at the funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Fisher House, 357-5100.

COLES, Marie (nee White)
April 27, 1929 - March 27, 2009

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 27, 2009 Marie Coles (nee White) age 79 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Wallace; children Calvin (Edith), Lavenia, Coy (Vernita), Gorvin (Debbie), Clayton (Wendy), Patsy (Levi Diamond), and Darlene (Woodl ey McLean); daughter-in-law Sheila; grandchildren Kim, Brad, Colleen, Tony, Ian David, Rosemarie, Corrine, Corey, Mandy, Randy, Ryan, Jestine, Jamee, T.J. and Travis; great-grandchildren Tanner, Jaron, Mitchell, Jacob, Brady, Andrew, Joshua, Dakota and Dallas, Megan and Alesiha; special sister Lavenia Mitchelmore. She also leaves to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and extended family. Marie was predeceased by her parents Isaac and Leah White, her children Lambert, Gary, Walter, Eliza and Glenda, son-in-law Clyde White, brothers Lawrence, Percy and Walter White. Marie was a loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful friend to many. She is now resting in peace and will be sadly missed by all. The family received friends and family at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove where the funeral took place on Monday, March 30 and the burial followed at the cemetery in Savage Cove. NEWMAN, Nathaniel Calvin
Englee

Passed away suddenly at his home in Englee on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the age of 65 years. Calvin is lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Maxine Gillard Newman, and their children Vanessa and Paul Leithbridge, Treena Newman and Glen Matchem, grandchildren Andrew and Katie Gillingham, Lance and Monika Gillard and children Ethan, Elijah and Ewan. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother and sisters Warrick and Madeline Newman, Velma Simms, Clementine and Fred Hamlyn, Christine and William Fillier, Alton and Fred Newman and a large number of relatives and friends. The service was conducted by Capt. Anthony and Beverly Stokes at the Salvation Army Corps in Englee on Thursday, April 2. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay funeral director.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Leo (Elizabeth) of Little Bay, Harold (Josylne) of Conception Bay South, Gerald (Beatrice) and Terrance (Joanne) of Thunder Bay Ontario; daughters Shirley (James) Dobbin, Margaret (Bernard) Gaslard of Port au Choix, Josephine (Morris) Cull of Englee, Irene (Laud) Parrill, Eileen (Warrick) George, Maureen (Bren) Power, Sandra (Brian) Jacobs, and Madonna (Geoff) all residing at Labrador City; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother Hazen (Ruth) Hynes of Roddickton; sister Irene Broadrick of Gambo and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Madonna, daughter Susan, and parents Matthew and Margaret Hynes. The family received friends at the Roman Catholic Church in Roddickton on Wednesday and Thursday. The funeral service took place from the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

Dec. 15, 1946 - March 31, 2009

Passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, Gordon Wilfred Reid, at age 62 years. He was predeceased by his mother Annie Reid, brothers Alex, Ernest and Freeman Reid, sister Donna Reid, niece Sabrina Winsor, mother and father-in-law Marcia and Harris Coles and brother-in-law Willis Elms Jr. Gordon is remembered by his loving wife of 39 years, Rose, daughter Kimberly (Damir) and son Duane (Tammy); three grandchildren Melissa, Tasha and Mackenzie Villeneuve. Also survived by his father Leslie Reid; brothers and sisters Mary Hatcher, Corbett (Helen) Reid, Aurelia (Gerald) Crocker, Verna (David) Miller, Victor (Mary Ann) Reid, Darrell (Juanita) Reid, Yvonne (Alfred) Bridger, Beverly (Wycliff) Winsor, Claudia (Elim) Reid, Trudy (Randell) Reid, Nancy (Howard) Reid, Lizzie (Tom) Reid; brother and sisters-in-law: Albert (Rita) Coles, Miriam (Hubert) Genge, Linda (Ches Keats) Coles, Pauline Elms, Matthew (Margaret) Coles, Terry (Dongmei) Coles, George (Bertha) Coles and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation took place Thursday, April 2, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service took place on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m. from St. Augustine's Anglican Church. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
