NOSEWORTHY, ROLAND H.
Green Island Brook

Passed away on March 3, 2008 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Roland Noseworthy, age 70 years. Thankful for the life and memories his wife of 41 years Grace; daughters Vina (Jimmy, Jackie, Ian, Kennedy and Wyatt), and Angela (Walter, Moya, Michaela and Sydney); son Darryl; mother Mary Noseworthy; sisters Nora McLean and Cora Cullihall; brothers Whyman, Vernon, Abel, Erastus and Wayne; brothers and sisters- in-law Leslie, Carl, Mamiellen, Sheila, Stella, Patricia, Karen, Myrtle, Dorothy Lavers, Rex (Dorcas), James (Joyce) and Henry (Sheryl-Ann) Offrey; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by father Absalom. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 with Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WHITE, PAULINE
Flowers Cove

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on March 3, 2008, Pauline White, age 61 years. Leaving to mourn husband Jacob; children Keith (Bernice), Jake (Wanda) and Nadine (Randy); mother Marjorie Myers; grandchildren Kayla, Tiffany, Mackie, Robyn and Ryan; sisters Nellie (Noah), Julia (Cyril), Philomena (Frank), Marie (Eric) and Bernadette (Walt); brothers Leo(Aletha) and Mark (Sylvia); sisters-in-law Rose Mary, Doreen, Lucy, Susan, Emily (Nelson) and Maria; brothers-in-law Raymond, James (Jessie), Walter (Caroline), Thomas (Dulcie) and Marcus (Emelene), and special friends Sharon and Sarah. She was predeceased by father Joseph Myers, brothers James, Joseph Jr., Clarence and David Myers, mother-in-law Virginia White, and father-in-law Emmanual White. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 with Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Cremation followed the service with interment at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PITTMAN, ROY
Cook’s Harbour

Passed away at the Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on March 4, 2008, Roy Pittman, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn wife Rosanna; children Marjorie, Nellie (Winsor), Edna (Marvin), Leona and Howard; grandchildren Lisa (Noel), Chad (Trina), Christopher (Kelly), Jimmy (Jessi), Jarvis, Jordan, Jonathan, Brent, Samantha and Michael; great-grandchildren Victor, Dorrie and Alyssa Hannah, sisters Lillian and Naomi. He was predeceased by parents William and Rachel, brothers Ralph, Gordon, and Glossen, sisters Maude and Edna. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Cook’s Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 with Rev. Graham officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.

SAMSON, EFFIE (TUCKER)
Nov. 12, 1952 – March 15, 2008

On the morning of March 15, 2008, a host of angels descended on Rufus Guinchard Health Centre to take home the soul of Effie from a body ravaged by Lou Gehrig’s disease. Left behind to pick up the pieces, but with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband Con, daughter and son-in-law Kim and Rocky Hughes, grandchildren Jadea and Tucker Hughes, all of Brampton, Ontario, brother Wilson Tucker of Reef’s Harbour, sister Patsy Hynes of Brampton, sister Pam (Hiram) Coombs of Reef’s Harbour, brother Dave (Diane) Tucker of Alberta, and sister Cindy (Dave) Blagdon of Brampton. Effie leaves a score of relatives and friends including special niece and godchild Sandy (Neil) Myers and Brian Hynes (Leah) of Devon, Alberta, Dylan Blagdon, Sammi Joe and Natalie Tucker, and Joe and Jennifer Gaudette. We know that, sitting in her organizational chair, Effie is still directing traffic.

FARWELL, JOHN ‘JACK’
Port au Choix

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Farwell announces his passing on Friday, March 21, 2008, at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders in his 88th year. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Rita, of 55 years; daughters Rhoda Butt, Gloria (Calvin) Perry and Juanita (Trevor) Payne; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Theodore, Melvin (Ivy) and Roland (Kay); sister Millicent Billard; sister-in-law Sadie Farwell; special niece Doris Hamlyn; special nephew Glenn Newcombe; special friend Hank Rumbolt, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Wilbert and Matilda, brothers Percy, Maxwell, Clayton and Gordon. Visitation took place at St. Thomas Becket Anglican Church in Port au Choix on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25 at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations were made to St. Thomas Becket Anglican Church, Port au Choix. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

GENGE, CHARLIE W.
Deadman’s Cove

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charlie Genge announces his passing on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his family residence in Deadman’s Cove at the age of 60 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Elizabeth; daughter Julia (Wayne); grandchildren Gabby, Willie and Luc; mother Susie; brothers Anthony (Sadie), Robert (Clara) and Cyril (Julia); sister Sheila (Lambert); brothers-in-law Stanley (Mona) and Donald (Agnes); sisters-in-law Joyce (Gaydon), Sue and Ivy, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Harrison, brother Albert, sister-in-law Marie, father-in-law Stewart, mother-in-law Maria Jane and brother-in-law Clifford. Visitation was held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Anchor Point on Monday evening and Tuesday from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Colbourne officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Anchor Point. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix/Bear Cove. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

BURDEN, DAVID JAMES
Port Hope Simpson

It is with great sadness that the family of David James Burden at the age of 18 succumbed to his illness on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 after battling liver disease. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother Denise and father Derek; sister Debbie of Cambridge, Ontario; grandparents Vera and Jim Russell, Margaret Burden (Eldred Penney) and Ruben Burden; his aunts and uncles, Eldred (Ruth) Burden, Carol Burden, David (Evelyn) Burden, Dennis (Paulette) Burden, Danny (Belinda) Burden, Dean (Brenda) Burden, Paulette (Conn) Locke, Bradley (Nina) Penney, Perry (Paula) Burden, Marilyn (Junior) Mauger, Darrell Russell and James (Collette) Russell, as well as a number of special cousins, and a large circle of close friends. He was predeceased by a special cousin Joey. The funeral service took place on Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle with officiating clergy Rev. Wayne Parsons, Sr. Pastor Eugene Gillett and Pastor Paula Hayden. Interment followed at the Calvary Pentecostal Cemetery. In David’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation and Janeway Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay funeral director.

JOHNSON, NORMAN STEWART
St. Anthony

Passed away at the Curtis Memorial Hospital on March 25, 2008. Norman Johnson, aged 68 years. Leaving with a lifetime of memories wife Ruby; sons Herbert (Darlene) and Edward (Wendy); grandchildren Donovan and Ciaran, brothers Elmore (Pat) Brenton, Sam (Kay) Brenton, Ralph (Alice) Brenton, Eric (Joyce) Brenton, Wayne (Winnie) and Allan (Jean) Brenton; sister Phyllis (Don) Wells; brother-in-law Drew Murphy, and a circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by mother and stepfather Elsie and Fred Brenton and sister Althea. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28 at the Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

SHEPPARD, WILLIAM LLOYD
William Lloyd Sheppard
, son of Norman and Eliza of Brig Bay, peacefully surrounded by his family at the Civic Hospital on March 26, 2008 in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Naomi (nee House), beloved father of Van and his wife Chrissy, Kim and her husband Brian, Jill and her husband David, Lois and her husband Richard. Beloved dad of Murray and his wife Tammy, and Beverley and her husband Michael. Loving pop of Alex, Jessica, Katie, Rachel, Luke, Jonathan, Sebastien, and “Baby Sam” due May 19. Remembered by family and friends in Newfoundland. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Civic Hospital. Friends were received at the Kelly Funeral Home, Kanata, Ontario on Sunday, March 30 for Visitation in Memory. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Lung Association or COPD Group, 2319 St. Laurent Bvld., K1G 4J8, Ottawa, appreciated.
