Born Jan. 2, 2003 at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and transferred to Stollery Children's Hospital where she underwent open heart surgery at 5 days old. On March 26, Katie passed peacefully away in the arms of her mom, surrounded by family and caring staff of Stollery Children's Hospital. Deeply saddened, yet cherishing the short time Katie was with us are her mom Mae Kearney; dad Eric Hunt and sister Erica. Katie will be sorely missed and always remembered by her family and friends, especially Nan and Pop Kearney; Nan and Pop Hunt of Conche; aunts and uncles Aunt Darlene (George) who was there for us when Katie was born and when she passed away, thanks Darlene, Karen Byrne Andy), Chris Kearney (Charlene), Judy Hunt (Deon), Dale Hunt (Terry), Delsie McGrath, Marie Byrne (Ken), and Clayton Hunt (Racheal); cousins Mackenzie, Toni, Gregory, Barry, Tyson, Toby, T.J., Jonanth and Gary; godparents Anne and Brendon Fitzpatrick of Conche, as well as a large number of great-aunts and great-uncles and other cousins. A memorial service was followed by a cremation on April 1 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Burial will take place in Newfoundland at a later date.
