TOOPE, ROY JR.
March 27th, 1977 - June 22nd, 2018

Many hearts were broken when such a loving and amazing young man was taken from us way too early. Roy Toope Jr of Pond Cove, NL, died on June 22nd, 2018 at the age of 41 years, during a tragic accident while working on the Trans Labrador Highway. Roy was born March 27th, 1977 in St. Anthony, NL, to parents Roy & Rhoda (Gibbons) Toope, and from that day on, he was a special boy to so many. Roy graduated St. Augustine Central High in 1995 with lots of memories and friendships. Roy always had a love for working in the woods and completed a Diploma in Forestry from the College of the North Atlantic. He had many different jobs but one of the most enjoyable jobs was working many years as a Harvester operator, where he made lots of close friends. Roy loved the outdoors - whether it was Salmon Fishing, Hunting, working in the woods or riding skidoo. A few years ago, Roy began his own little piece of paradise - a cabin - at Ten Mile Lake, which he loved and enjoyed for a short time. It will always be a place that holds precious memories that his family will treasure forever. Roy or as most of us called him, Royee, held a very special place in many hearts. His infectious smile had a way to lighten anyone's day. From listening and reading all the memories from loved ones and co-workers, it was easy to see that Roy was one of a kind - the Best Kind. He will never be forgotten and always remembered by the love of his life, Nadine Crane, Parents Roy and Rhoda Toope, Brother Chesley (Diana), his best buddy and nephew, Parker, Special Pet Mia, Grandmothers Virginia Gibbons and Jane Toope, In Laws Nicole, Ted, and Melvin King, Aunts and Uncles, Louise (Baxter) Short, David (Ellen) Gibbons, Nancy (John) Gibbons, Joyce (Rol) Way, Elva (Claude) Genge, Sandra (Winsor) Williams, Debbie (Darren) Taylor, Lorie (Rod) McLean, Judy (Thomas) Caines, Beulah (Joe) Pittman, Dorcas (Daniel) Scanlon, Jackie (Dereck) Caines, Andrew (Flora) Toope, Reg (Kathy) Toope, Rachel (Steve) Williams, Jim (Yvonne) Toope, Eileen (Sterling) Wells, and Whyman Mitchelmore Sr and a large circle of cousins and very close friends. He is predeceased by Grandfathers Chesley Gibbons and James Toope Sr, Aunt Minnie Mitchelmore, Cousin Wayne Mitchelmore, and In Laws, Earl and Betty Crane. The Celebration of Roy's life was held on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 7:00pm at the Church of Advent in Plum Point followed by funeral on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Pond Cove Cemetery by Rev. Jennifer Renouf. Crematory services were made by Barrett's Funeral Home in St. John's, NL. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Patey Funeral Director.
