Passed peacefully away at the Devon General Hospital in Devon, Alberta on June 1, 2010 at the age of 59 years, Gideon Applin of Shoal Cove West. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories wife Selina, two sons Keith (Janice), and Cody (Tana); six brothers Kirby (Marina), Gerald, Ralph, June (Deanna), Barry (Glenda), and Craig (Cathy); three sisters Linda (Sam), Verna and Doris (Skip) and families; brothers and sisters-in-law and families. He was predeceased by his parents Susan and Garfield Applin and nephew Nicholas Craig Applin. His remains were entrusted to the crematory at Serenity Funeral Services in Leduc, Alberta where funeral services took place on Saturday, June 5, with Rev. Emma Vickery officiating.

COOMBS, Ida

Passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on June 23, 2010, Ida Coombs of Reef's Harbour NL. in her 80th year. Leaving with a lifetime of memories, daughter Joyce (Oswan); grandchildren Bruce (Brada), Darrell (Moya); great-grandchild Braden; son-in-law John; as well as her loving sisters Lillian (Lawrence) and Angeline; sister-in-law Semone, along with a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by father Timothy, mother Elizabeth, husband Absalom, son Frank, daughter Sybil, sisters Mary Ann (Thomas) and Christianna (Henry), and her beloved brothers Joseph, James, Aaron (Leah), Thomas and brother-in-law Arthur. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Reef's Harbour before the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Levinia Fillatre, funeral director.

GIBBONS, Mr. Jacob

Passed peacefully away with his family in Oshawa, Ontario on June 9, Mr. Jacob Gibbons of Plum Point in his 74th year. Jacob leaves to mourn his wife Gladys; children Jacob Jr. (Sonya), Jason, and Gillian (Budd); grandchildren Hannah, Mitchell, and Sebastian; brother Winston (Minnie); sisters Carrie, and Myrtle (Roland) as well as many nephews and nieces. Visitation took place at The Church of The Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15 with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Burial immediately followed the service at the Anglican Cemetery in Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

HOUSE, Mr. Thomas Philip

Thomas Philip House
of Grande Prairie, Alberta was taken from us suddenly on June 12, 2010 in his 61st year. Thomas leaves to mourn Dulcie House, his wife of 34 years; son Edmund (Shannon); brothers Martin (Rose), Chesley (Angela), and Maxwell (Stella); sisters Christine Gould, Helen House (Kevin), and Gloria Pearce (Ron); brothers-in-law, Bill Payne (Loretta), Richard Payne (Jose), Harvy Payne (Sheila), Woodrow Payne (Cathy), and Stewart Payne; sisters-in-law, Greta House, Edith Walsh, Carol Hynes (Melvin), Vida Payne, and Irene Payne; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Thomas is predeceased by his mother Margaret House, father Edmund House, brother George, and sister Alma.
Tom was a man of few words, a big heart and caring nature. His absence will leave a void in all our hearts. Gone but not forgotten.

MOORES, Mr. Robert Emerson

Passed peacefully away at the Leonard Miller Centre on Saturday, June 5, 2010 Robert Emerson Moores of St. John's, age 88 years, surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his spouse Lucinda (Strangemore) and his parents Robert and Agnes Moores of Small Point. Leaving with fond and loving memories are his two sons Bruce (Judy) and Neil (Catherine); grandchildren Kim, Greg, and Mark; one brother Herbert (Joyce); brothers and sisters-in-law Jack Batstone, Mary Jane Burt, Jeremiah Strangemore (Ethel), Job Strangemore (Elizabeth), Norman Strangemore (Myra), Clifford Strangemore (Dora), Vera Strangemore and Florence Strangemore (Paul). Also leaving to mourn special friend Eva and longtime friend and neighbour Irene Bursey. The funeral service took place on Tuesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at Wesley United Church. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations in Robert's memory may be made to the Lung Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

O'KEEFE, Mrs. Laura Margaret

It is with great sadness the family of the late Laura O'Keefe of Port au Choix, NL announce her passing on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband George; children Valerie (Philip) Hoskins, St. Albans, Sandra (Ivan) Burt, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Jack Cornick (Iris), Alberta, Alma (Cameron) House, Port Saunders, Claude (Tina), Cornick, Holyrood, Gerard (Gael), Halifax, Floyd (Jeanette), and Stanley (Kim), Port au Choix; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers Gerald (Genny) Lavers, Port au Choix and Eddy (Shirley), Georgetown, Ontario; sister-in-law Dorothy Lavers, Port au Choix, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son Ronald, first husband Benedict Cornick, parents Stanley and Alma Lavers, brother Joseph, sister Veronica, brothers and sisters-in-law. The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Sunday and Monday. The funeral service took place on Tuesday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Lee Lainey officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. PARSONS, Mr. Walter J.

Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on June 28, Mr. Walter J. Parsons of St. Anthony, NL. in his 66th year. Walter leaves to mourn his wife Shirley Simms (Parsons); children Dale (Rose), Elaine (Glenn), Craig (Cynthia), Cindy (Dion) and Lillian (Paul); grandchildren Timothy, Jennifer, Joshua, Shawna, Jeffery, Jessie, Matthew, Dylan and Brandon; great-grandchildren Tiffany and Dalton; sister Elizabeth; and brother Frank. Walter was predeceased by his mother Susannah Peckham (Parsons), father William Parsons and his 13 brothers and sisters. Visitation was held at Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30 with Pastor Norman Joy officiating. Burial followed at the Bethel Pentecostal Church Cemetery in St. Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. PATEY, Mrs. Faye N.

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook Faye Nora Patey of River of Ponds, NL in her 61st year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Harvey; children Trinda (Wayne) Samson of Corner Brook, Robin (Trina), River of Ponds, her parents Amos Patey and Maisie nee House; her grandchildren Richie Patey, Alliyah Samson, Andrew Payne and Savannah Smith; her daughter Pamela (Ron) Smith; her siblings Emma (Claude) Guinchard, Christine Patey, Derek (Selma) Patey, Daisy (Francis) Mahar, and Sarah Patey, all of River of Ponds. Faye was predeceased by her father Harrison Patey and brother Llewellyn Patey, also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family received family and friends from Trinity Pentecostal Church in River of Ponds, on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral took place on Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Allan Wheaton officiating. Burial followed at the cemetery in River of Ponds. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. Mother leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Emmanuel of Daniel's Harbour, Wilfred (Rhoda) of Portland Creek, and Sherry (Harrison) Patey of River of Ponds; her five grandchildren Danny Turner, Dennis House, Tanya (Wallie) Biggin, Deanna Pearce and Krista Pearce; her three great-grandchildren Dylan House, Samuel Caines and Jake Biggin; her siblings Mrs. Ruby Walsh of Three Mile Rock, Max (Daisy) Payne of Parsons Pond, Ivy (Clyde) Goosney and Kevin (Connie) Decker, both of Three Mile Rock, her sister-in-law Mrs. Sadie Payne of Brampton, Ontario. The family received family and friends from the Holy Cross Anglican Church in Daniel's Harbour on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, June 28 at 2 p.m. with Louise Richards and Rev. Tanya White officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Daniel's Harbour. It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Roberts of Forteau, NL announce his passing on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Labrador South Health Centre Long Term Care Unit in Forteau at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Jenesta; children Marina Fowler (Dorman), and Selma Normore (Winston); sons Randy (Lisa), Peter (Lisette), Quinton (Kristen), Georgia, and Kayla (Perry); nine grandchildren Connie, Scott, Lucas, Maria, Nathan, Cloe, Mark, Michael and Jamie; brothers Warren, Harold and William; sister Marie, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by wife Fronia, parents Maxwell and Melsie Roberts, and sister Hazel. Visitors were accepted at the English Point Gospel Hall on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m. with Mr. David Hunt officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Forteau. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

Leaving to mourn his children Mary (Wesley) Snyder, Lagrange, California, Emma (Finton) Gabriel, Stephenville, Semone (Raymond) Rose, Grand Falls, Clara (Claude) Caza, Montreal, Ada (Robert) Moores, New Brunswick, Zita Jackman, Ontario, Alma Bolts, Oregon, California, Edward (Mona), Alfred (Paulette), Wade (Doris) and Lori (Geraldine), all residing in Port au Choix; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; the Gould family and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Elizabeth, wife Juliette, common-law wife Charlotte, children Clara, Gertrude and Austin. The family received friends at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix on Sunday and Monday from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Leaving to mourn husband Patrick; sons Morris (Dale), Castor River North, Harrison (Kim), Glenn (Terri), Clayton (Linda), Brampton, Ontario, and Frazer (Clarise), Castor River North; grandchildren Zackary, Kelly, Joey, Alexander, Kyle, Patrick, Andrew, Kayla, and Madison; great-grandchildren Parker, Rylan and Quinton; sisters Cecilia (Abraham), Laura Gaulton, and Nomie (Jerome); sisters-in-law Elizabeth, Maureen, Janet, and Beatrice; brothers-in-law Darius, and John, and a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents George and Rebecca Tatchell, sister Dorothy, brothers Jerome, Henry, Ralph, and Edward, brothers-in-law Eymard and Donald. STRANGEMORE, Mr. Everton

Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Centre, Mr. Everton Strangemore of St. Anthony in his 90th year. Everton leaves to mourn his loving wife Marjorie; his children Monte (Christine), Joy (Charles Hynes), Rendell, and Kevin (Marlene Applin); eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law Marjorie Strangemore and Myrtle Strangemore; Aunt Mamie Mitchelmore and a large circle of extended family and friends. Everton served his country with diligence and bravery in the Second World War from 1940 to 1945. The ship on which he served, H.M.S. Fiji, was taken down during the battle of Crete, having survived the ordeal he continued to serve on the H.M.S. Revenge. Everton's bravery and that of his colleagues will not soon be forgotten. Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony, followed by the funeral service, which took place at St. Mary's Anglican Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 with Rev. Ralph Moore officiating. Burial followed in the St. Anthony Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WARD, Mr. Josiah A.

Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on June 21, 2010, Mr. Josiah Ward of Port Hope Simpson, NL. in his 52nd year. Josiah leaves to mourn; one sister Annie Paul; nephew Alvin Paul; one niece Natalia Paul and a number of other relatives and friends. Josiah was predeceased by his father Joseph Ward and his mother Florrie Ward. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Port Hope Simpson from where the funeral service took place on Thursday, June 24 with Pastor Gillett officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

YOUNG, Mr. Wallace

Passed away peacefully at his home, Mr. Wallace Young of Plum Point in his 85th year. Wallace leaves with a lifetime of loving memories daughters Jane (Jim), Evelyn (Martin), and Ethel (Stan); sons Primus (Theresa), and Wallace; his grandchildren Gary (Rupa), Rick (Roxanne), Leona (Martin), Kimberly, Vicky (Patrick), Mitchell, Wesley, Jennifer, and Chris, as well as his great-grandchildren Dillon, Brianna, Hailey, Nickolas, and Vanessa; brother Benjamin (Marion); sisters-in-law Effie and Joyce; brother-in-law Alfred and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed. Wallace was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth, mother and stepfather Matilda and William Coombs, sisters Mary Ann and Sarah Fanny, brothers George Y., Hubert Y., Kenneth, and George C., stepsister Una, stepbrothers Absalom, Jack, and Hubert C. Visitation took place at The Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 10 with Rev. Moore officiating. Burial followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
