PYE-TATCHELL, MONICA
Mary’s Harbour
Monica Rae Pye-Tatchell
passed away after a long illness in the presence of her parents on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Janeway Children’s Hospital. Leaving to mourn with loving and fond memories are parents Annette Pye-Tatchell and Jamie Tatchell; sister Maya; grandmothers Eliza Tatchell and Laura Pye; poppy Stewart Pye, as well as many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her grandfathers Henry Tatchell, uncle Gary Butt and aunt Rosiland Roberts-Tatchell.
"As you danced in the light with joy, love lifted you. As you brushed against this world so gently, you lifted us."

FOWLER, DAVID
St. Anthony

Passed away on June 8, 2006, David Fowler age 75 years. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Stella; daughters Joan (Bob), Dorothy, Colleen (Al), Glenda and Jessie (Maurice); brothers Edward (Barbara), Delano (Cora) and Gary (Kathy); sister Gertrude (Bill); grandchildren David, Michael, Andrew, Maurice and Cynthia; special friends Bob (Nina), Cal (Susan) and Roy (Judy), as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Isaac Whyte and Sarah Winnifred Fowler, brother Leonard and sisters Dorothy Hammond and Viola Tilley. Visitation took place at the funeral home on West Street. The funeral service was held at the Salvation Army Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 with Capts. Richard and Trudy Mouland officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

HEWLIN, EFFIE MARGARET
Main Brook

Passed away on June 10, 2006, Effie Hewlin, age 67 years. Leaving to mourn husband Charles; daughter Debbie Tucker; stepdaughter Cindy Caines; sons Ross (Susie) Tucker and Christopher (Sabrina) Hewlin; brothers Chris, Bud (Marlene), Herb (Eunice), Gord, Edward (Colleen), Bob (Wanda) and Joe (Myrtle); sisters Berdaine (Arthur), Joyce (Ralph), Donna (Harris), Joan, Lottie Lilly, Gladys (Ted) Patey, Gloria (Tony) Notara and Pearl (Jabez) Howell, brothers-in-law George (Jean) Hewlin, Rex (Irene) Hewlin, Hiram (Ann) Hewlin and Ray Hewlin; sister-in-law Nellie (Eric) Brown; grandchildren Crystal and Jeffery Tucker, Brayden and Kayden Hewlin and step-grandchildren Lindsey and Michael Caines. She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Ruth, brother Wilfred, sister Verna, sisters-in-law Hildagard Tucker and Clara Tucker, brother- in-law Frank Lilly, mother-in-law Lillian Hewlin and father-in-law John Hewlin. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at Bethal Pentecostal Church with Capt. Mouland officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

STONE, STEWARD CLARENCE
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
(Formerly of Red Bay)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Steward Clarence Stone of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, formerly of Red Bay, Labrador, announce his passing on June 13, 2006 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, at the age of 65 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend Darlene (nee Tabachniuk); sister Ruby (Zack Tuttauk), Goose Bay; brother Sandy (Dianne, nee Boone) Botwood; sister-in-law Genevieve Stone (nee Ryland), L’Anse au Loup; mother-in-law Mary Tabachniuk; sisters-in-law Ann and Elaine (Brad) Thorinbert, Saskatoon; brothers-in-law Mike (Donna), John (Brenda) and Gordon, all of Alberta, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents Mark and Violet Stone, brother Hayward, father-in-law John Tabachniuk and niece Jolene Tuttauk. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Steward’s life will take place at a later date along with a memorial service in Red Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan or the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thanks to the Luther Care Centre, Saskatoon, the Sherbrooke Centre, Saskatoon, St.Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care, Saskatoon.

APPLIN, LEONARD
Main Brook

Passed away on June 20, 2006, Leonard Applin, age 40 years. Leaving to mourn his mother Kesiah; brothers Dallas (Jean) and Barry; stepbrother Jerry (Cinthia); nephews Aaron and Adam; niece Amanda, step-niece Stephanie and nephews Nicholas and Brady. He was predeceased by his father George. Visitation was held at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Main Brook from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 with Pastor Clarke officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

BRAKE, JOAN EMMA (nee Park)
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, Joan Brake at the age of 71 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, children; Beulah Puddester (Peter), Linda Hann (Kenneth), Randy Brake (Christine), Nancy Fillier (Ross), Eric Brake (Vickie), Barry Brake and Joannie Gillingham (Elliott); grandchildren; Jeffery, Crystal, Corey, Ryan, Danny, Matthew, Deanne, Adam, Jill, Nicholas, Drew and Sarah; companion Ruben Gilley; brothers; Joe, Edgar, Roland, Edward, Kevin and Terry and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Isaac and Melinda Park and brother Eli. The family received friends at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 country Toad, Corner Brook on Thursday. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23 at the Anglican Church, Gilliams with Rev. Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery, Meadows. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edgar Taylor annouce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in the presence of his family at the age of 62 years. He will be sadly missed by his common-law wife of 36 years, Vivian Williams; daugher Caroline Ann Taylor; son-in-law Gurvin Taylor; grandchildren Brady and Ally Taylor; brothers Lawrence (Irene), Clyde (Amy) and Calvin (Jessie); sisters Rachel, Jean (Jacob), Sadie (William Henry) and Gladys (Levi); sister-in-law Sybil; common-law sisters Gloria (Gordon), Jessie (Howard), Priscella (Garland); common-law brothers Colin (Rachel), as well as la large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Rev. Harrison Heidel officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. MAYNARD, EDWARD FRANCIS
Norris Point

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edward Maynard announce his passing on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders in his 98th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Mildred (Stanley) Laing of Ontario, Ivan (Sandra) of Ontario, Nita Major of Red Deer, Alberta, Sandra (Calvin) Decker of Alberta and Marilyn (Alton) Reid of Ontario; daughter-in-law Phoebe of Hawkes Bay; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special friend Lizzie Maynard, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, son Clyde and daughter Jean. Mr. Maynard was a member of the Orangeman’s Lodge for some 80 years. Visitation took place at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Norris Point on Sunday and Monday from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 27 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Canon John Olsson officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funernal Home, Port au Choix.

MAHAR, MARY ELIZABETH Bird Cove
July 6, 1924 - June 24, 2006

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Elizabeth Mahar (nee Kennedy), of Bird Cove announce her passing at John M. Gray nursing home, St. Anthony on June 24, 2006 in her 82nd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 59 years, Ambrose Mahar; sons Christopher Mahar, Kevin (Lori) Mahar, Thomas Mahar and Leo (Darlene) Mahar; daughers Mary Elizabeth Mahar, Angela Pittman and Jacqueline (Austin) Caines; grandchildren Desmond Mahar, Dermot Mahar, Jeffery Mahar, Melissa mahar, Deney Pittman, Lesley Walsh, Adelia Pittman, Gorvin Mahar, Allison Pittman, Andrea Mahar, Anita Pittman and Stephen Mahar; great-grandchildren Julian Pittman and Hannah Mahar; brothers Aloysius (Betty) Kennedy, Christopher (Mary) Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy and Sylvester (marie) Kennedy; sister Imelda Mahar; sisters-in-law Agnes Kennedy, Isabel Kennedy, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy, Vera Kennedy, Marie Kennedy, Agnes Beaudoin and Mary Alice Burke, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Sylvester and Elizabeth (Pittman) Kennedy, son Ambrose Mahar, brothers John Kennedy, Mark Kennedy and Dormand Kennedy, son-in-law Christopher Mahar, brothers-in-law Lemore Mahar, Luke Mahar and Joseph Mahar, and sister-in-law Leona Mahar. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 28 at the Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove with Fr. Devas officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Stevens announce his passing on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the age of 67 years. Leaving to mourn with fond memories wife Marie; children Gladys Chambers (Roland), Evelyn Gould (Paschal), Todd (Sharon) and Craig (Gwen); grandchildren Tanya Genge (Seaward), Kara, Roland, Krista, Shalene, Kayla, Jamie and Cole; great-grandchildren Britney and Zachery; sisters Dora Norman and Madeline Diamond (Thomas); brothers George and Ross (Jean); father and mother-in-law Hector and Isabella White; brothers-in-law Russell White (Rose), Ramsey White (Valarie) and Gary White (Carol); sister-in-law Ursula White, and a wide circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Elijah and Elizabeth and brother-in-law Augustus Norman. REEVES, FREDERICK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Frederick Reeves announce his passing on June 27, 2006 at the age of 93 years. He will be sadly missed be his wife Winnie; sons Stan (Carol), Everette (Eileen) and Lorne (Vera); daughters Gertie (Garfield) Seaward, Wavey (Mervin) Pilgrim and Cindy (Barry) Newman; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other family and friends. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 with Pastor Angell officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Lavinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.

SIMMS, CORDELIA
St. Anthony

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cordelia Simms announce her passing on June 28, 2006 at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her children Kevin (Roberta), Joan (Fred) and Albert; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Christine and Grace, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Shirley (Ron) in 1962, her husband Charles in 2001 and her seven brothers and sisters. Visitation was held at the funeral home on West Street. The funeral service was held at the United Church in St. Anthony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment was held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catherines, Ontario. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rossfield Simms announces his passing on June 28th, 2006, at the age of 72 years. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Archibald Hillier announce his passing on June 28, 2006 at the age of 55 years. Left with many memories ate his wife Violet; sons Miles (Anastasia) and Peter; aunt Nellie Scammal; cousins Bettie Lou Carver (Ronald), Isa Walsh (Gerald), Florence Renolds (Jerry), Gerald Pilgrim (Carol), George Pilgrim (Kris), Derek Scammel (Joyce), Allan Scammel (Joy), Carl Hillier (Violet), Wayne Hillier (Audrey), Wade Hillier (Linda), Nellie Simms (Leaton) and Patsy Davis (Frank); three brothers-in-law and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Elizabeth, mother-in-law Ethel and father-in-law Robert. Visitation was held at the funeral home on West Street. The funeral service was held at the Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, with Hannah Dicks, catechist, officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican cemetery, Griquet.
