ALYWARD, IRENE MAE
Port au choix.

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Alyward announce her passing on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 89 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Edmund and Gerald (Sadie), and daughter Mary, all residing at Port au Choix; four grandchildren Juanita Lucas (Ken) and Julie Alyward (Paul), and their mother Elsie, Edgar Alyward (Linda) and Shirley Alyward; three great-grandchildren Tessa, Courtney and Karla; sister-in-law Laura Alyward and family, as well as a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation took place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Port au Choix on Thursday and Friday, from where the funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 with Fr. Edmund Camacho officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As Expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

HYNES, ALLEN
Englee
Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 9, 2004. He was in his 93rd year. He leaves to mourn niece Muriel Craig of Missouri, USA; nephew Elsie Pittman of Englee, as well as a large circle of other family and friends from Great Harbour Deep. He was predeceased by wife Olivia, sisters Elsie Randell and Nellie Pittman, brother Herbert and his parents. Visitation took place at the United Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 13 with Rev. Karl Arnold officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre funeral Home, Roddington, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director. The Reid and Pittman families would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped in this time of grief and sorrow. God Bless.

GENGE, JOANNA (JOSIE)
Deadman’s Cove

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 9, 2004. She was in her 83rd year. She leaves to mourn children Rosie (Mick), Hilda (Angus), Garland, Seward (Rosie) and Belinda (Henry); son-in-law Garry; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Irene, Alma, Vivian, Shirley, Mary Ann and Hilda; brother Earl, and their families; friends at Ivy Durley Place as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by husband Angus, daughter Marg, granddaughter Natasha, mother Blanche, father Jacob, mother-in-law Eva, father-in-law Charles, brother Roland, sisters Jane, Amelia and Victoria. Visitation was held at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 with Capt. Jason Haggstrom officiating and Kevin Coles assisting. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

COOMBS, ABRAHAM WILLIAM
Shoal Cove West

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 10, 2004 at the age of 89 years. He was predeceased by his wife Bridget on Dec 11, 2000. He is lovingly remembered by his children Abram (Laura), Free (Ruby), Alva (Henry), Josie (Harrison), Clifton, Bruce (Ivy), Dwight (Jean), Mary (Melvin) and Peggy (Roland); 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister Joyce (Cyril) Genge; sisters-in-law Ida Coombs, Sylvia Applin and Josie Beaudoin; brothers-in-law Harold (Julie) Tucker, Nathaniel Tucker and Clyde(Eliza Tucker), and a large number of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Anglican Church in Shoal Cove West from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 with Rev. Hounsell-Drover officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

WHALEN, MARJORIE
Flowers Cove

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marjorie Whalen announce her passing on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony in her 87th year. She leaves to mourn her husband Lorenzo; stepsisters Annie (Kean) McHugh and Marion (Kean) Cool and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Roland and Amelia Kean, sisters Amelia, Stella, Selina and Caroline; brothers Cecil, Weston and Isaac. The family received friends at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove on Wednesday from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 17 with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating. The family service was officiated by Rev. Ross Rumbolt. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Flowers Cove. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix/ Bear Cove.

COOMBS, RANDELL
Shoal Cove West
Passed peacefully away at his home in Shoal Cove West on June 16, 2004. He was in his 62nd year. Leaving to mourn his sisters Eliza (Clyde), Selina (Gidd), and Jessie (Hayward); brothers Harrison (Jessie), Stewart (Bessie), Angus(Mamie),Noah (Nellie), Sam (Linda), and Clarence; his girlfriend Sarah and her family; sisters-in-law Mahalla and Effie; nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Evangeline, sisters Hazel and Lucy, brothers Chesley, Thomas, Jacob and Edmund. Visitation was held at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in Shoal Cove West from where the funeral service took place at 2 .pm., on Saturday, June 19 with Rev. John Hounsell-Drover officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

LAVERS SR., GEORGE
Port Saunders

It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Lavers announce his passing on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at his family residence in Port Saunders at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Gertrude; daughter Mazie (Herb) House; sons Jerry(Gale) and Murray (Genevieve); grandchildren Boyd (Nicole), Rosalie, Erika, George, Sally and Tommy; great-grandchildren Brayden and Victoria; sister Rita Edwards of Alberta; sister Laura; brothers Gerald and Eddie, as well as a large circle of othr relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son Wade. The family received friends at the family residence on Thursday and Friday. The funeral service was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 19 with Fr. Jack officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted or donations can be made to St. Joseph’s church Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

HUNT, FREDRICK THOMAS
April 22, 1941- June 27, 2004
Conche
Passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at his late residence in Conche. He was in his 63rd year. Leaving to mourn wife Nellie; daughters Maureen (Ken), Phyllis (Don), Betty(Gerald), and Judy (Terry); sons Gary (Darlene), Terry (Dale), and Roy; 13 grandchildren; special children Deon and Damian; five sisters; four brothers and a circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents Mike and Stella Hunt. Visitation was held at Sacred Heart church in Conche from where the funeral service took place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30 with Fr. Jim Robertson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Filatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

TATCHELL, WALTER
Castor River North

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Tatchell announce his passing on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the age of 72 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Evelyn; brothers Anthony (Madonna), Pius (Melvie), Gabriel and Isaac; sister-in-law Eudora, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Isaac and Alicia, brother Stanley, and sister-in-law Elanora. The family received friends at St. Anne’s Chapel in Castor River North from where the funeral service took place on Friday, July 2 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jack officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home. Port au Choix.

CADWELL, THOMAS D.
Charlottetown

Passed away at his late residence on June 29, 2004, Thomas D. Cadwell in his 61st year. Left to mourn are sons Dean and Rob (Peggy); daughters Annie (Ace) and Sheila (Ross); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers; two sisters, and a large circle of other family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Charlottetown from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 2. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.
