Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, July 29, 2010 Madeline Mae Acreman, of Mary's Harbour, Labrador at the age of 79 years. Leaving to mourn her sons David (Lydia) of Baie Verte and Donald (Vina) of St. Anthony; daughters Marion Green (Freeman) of Clarenville and Brenda Snook (Levi) of Forteau; nine grandchildren Karen Gandy (Steve) of Panama City, Florida, Jarvis Acreman (Marlise) of Mayer Thorpe, Alberta, Trevor Green (Nicole) of Richmond, British Columbia, Darrell Acreman of Woodstock, Ontario, Jamie Snook (Holly) of Goose Bay, Vanessa Lane of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Amanda Green of Calgary, Alberta, Anil Snook (Kelly) of Bedford, Nova Scotia, and Christopher Green (Krista) of St. John's; 11 great-grandchildren Dillon and Tristan Gandy, Connor and Callie Acreman, Isobella Green, Alicia, Hannah and Seth Acreman, Jonah and Jayden Snook and Joshua Lane; sister Vera Barbour; brother Claude Hewlett; sisters-in-law Celeste Cooper, Clarice Smith and Mary Acreman; brother-in-law Gordon Acreman; also a very large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Hughlett Acreman, 1998; parents Norman and Emma Hewlett; and two brothers Robert Hewlett and Tony Cooper. Visitation and funeral service took place at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Mary's Harbour. Interment followed at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery. BROWN, Mr. Clyde

Peacefully passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on July 12, 2010, Mr. Clyde Brown of Cook's Harbour, NL. at the age of 41 years. Leaving with a lifetime of memories his loving wife Gloria Brown; children Tara Leah Brown, and Tyler Henry Brown; his parents Henry and Hazel Brown; siblings Cyril Woodward (Jackie), Cora Brown (Greg Peyton), Collette Woodward (Garfield), Carrie Dyson (Barry), Clifford Brown, and Claude Brown (Tammy Smith); also a large extended family and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his very special uncle Edward Brown. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Cook's Harbour from where the funeral service was held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 with Rev. Moore officiating. The burial followed at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GENGE, Mr. Elijah

Passed away suddenly at the Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre in Flowers Cove on July 3, 2010, Mr. Elijah Genge of Anchor Point, NL. in his 70th year. Elijah leaves with a lifetime of fond memories his wife Beulah; son William (Delores); daughter Caroline (Kevin); his grandchildren Jonathan and Charli, as well as his sisters Sophia (Rufus), and Joyce; brother Lambert (Naomi); sisters-in-law Effie (Harold), Ida (Lionel), Muriel, Claris (Harold), and Ruby; brothers-in-law Cecil (Evelyn), Jack (Mildred), and Harve (Sherry) along with a large circle of family and friends. Elijah was predeceased by his parents William and Susannah, his brothers Clarence and James and his sister Mary Margaret. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Anchor Point. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Fillatre, funeral director.

GIBBONS, Mr. Chesley

Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on July 11, 2010, Mr. Chesley Gibbons of Forrester's Point, NL in his 75th year. Chesley leaves to mourn his loving wife Virginia, son David (Ellen) and daughters Rhonda (Roy), Louise (Baxter), Nancy (John), Joyce (Rol), Sandra (Winsor), Elva (Claude), Debbie (Darren) and Lorie (Rod); his loving grandchildren Roy, Chesley (Diana), Darren, Santana (Damien), Connie (Jeremy), Danica (Ash), Slader (Josephine), Melissa, Blade, Crystal, Dominique, April, and Victoria; and his two great-grandchildren Whitney and Parker. Visitation was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, July 14 with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Burial followed the service in the St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GOULD, Mrs. Mary H.

Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, NL. on July 4, 2010, Mary Helen Gould (Nellie) of Shoal Cove West, in her 65th year. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories husband Noah; mother Marjorie; sons Pius, Levi (Amanda), Adrian (Deanna), Glen, and Romeo (Maureen); daughter Angela (Walter); grandchildren Robin, Gabrielle, Danika, Nicholas, Shayla, BJ and James; four sisters Julia (Cyril), Philomena (Frank), Marie (Eric) and Bernadette (Walter); two brothers Mark (Sylvia), and Leo (Aletha). She will also be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews and all the members of the Gould and Coombs families; her sisters-in-law Rose (Jim), Doreen (Junior), Lucy (Clarence),and Susan (David); brother-in-law Jacob (Pauline), as well as sister-in-law Saline (Gideon) will miss her greatly. She was predeceased by her dad Joseph Myers, four brothers Jim, Junior, Clarence and David, sister Pauline and a number of brothers and sisters-in-law. Visitation was held at the Sacred Heart Church in Bartlett's Harbour, from where the funeral took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, with Fr. Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Fillatre funeral director.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Malcolm (Alva) Hutchings, Cow Head, Gloria (Primus) Toope, Pond Cove, Barry (Lorraine) Hutchings, Whitecourt, Alberta, Millicent (Lloyd) Saunders, Oshawa, Ontario and Alma (Rick) Biggin, Daniel's Harbour; son-in-law Ronald Swimm (Diane Payne), Cow Head; grandchildren Sherry, Lorraine, Shane and Randy Hutchings, Krista Pynn, Roger and Keon Toope, Nelson, Rodney, Parry and Michael Swimm, Lindy and Petra Hutchings, Natasha O'Gorman, Tina Seymore, Charlene Saunders, Melissa Biggin-Schoenherr and Rachelle Biggin; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister Annie (Carl) Pittman, St. Paul's; brother James (Paulette) Hewlin, Cow Head; brothers-in-law Rufus, Cow Head, Frank (Thelma), Ontario, Eugene (Annie), Cow Head, Percy (Mariette) Hutchings, Ontario, Claude White, Cow Head and Rendell Payne, Parsons Pond, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Hutchings, daughter Bolina Swimm, son Roger Lee Hutchings, grandson Tolson Toope, parents Jesse and Gertrude Hewlin, sisters Ida, Cecilia, Beulah and Alma, parents-in-law Charles and Winnie Hutchings, sister-in-law Rellie Payne and brother-in-law Malcolm Hutchings. Visitation was held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church in Cow Head on Tuesday and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place on Thursday, July 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children James (Joy) Jenkins, Little Rapids, Alfred (Georgina) Jenkins, Englee, Neata (Don) Richards, Kitchener, Ontario, Diana (Raymond) Wilcox, Brampton, Ontario, Nicholas (Linda) Jenkins, Englee, Melissa (Dale) Richards, St. Carols, Cecilia (Charlie) Mugford, St. Anthony and Dennis (Lois) Jenkins, Brampton, Ontario; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Pleaman Jenkins; parents Herbert and Delphina Hancock; children Mildred and Jeanie Jenkins. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee on Sunday and Monday from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Roddickton. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Benedict leaves to mourn his wife Julia; niece Maria (Lloyd), Stephenville; nephews Tom (Judy), Corner Brook, Dale (Stella), Bird Cove, and Larry (Josie), St. John's; great-nieces Monique, Denise and families, Shandi and Chelsea; great-nephews Thomas, Joshua, and Steven as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Mr. Mahar was predeceased by his parents Nelli and Thomas, his sisters Helena and Clara and brother-in-law Lawrence (Clara), stepbrothers Pius and Tom and sister-in-law Stella (Pius) and nephews Pius and Tom. The family received friends at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove on Wednesday and Thursday, from where the funeral took place on Friday, July 9 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Rogers officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bird Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. NEWMAN, Mr. Benjamin

Benjamin leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Julia, as well as his children Jessie Hillier (John), Ambrose Newman (Peggy), Neil (Brenda), Patsy (Alphonsus), and Tracey (Lyle); his grandchildren Paul, Todd, Nadine, Melodie, Jasmine, Dion, Stephen, Trevor, Tiber, Ashley and Jordan. He will also be missed by his 18 great-grandchildren and his one great-great-grandchild. Visitation took place at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, July 17 at 2 p.m. at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Burial followed at the United Fishing Point Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WILLIAMS, Ms. Alma

Passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, on Thursday, July 13, 2010 in her 73 year Alma Williams of Black Duck Cove, NL. Leaving to mourn her common-law partner John Coles; sons Freddy (Atlanta), and Walter; grandchildren Jamie, Jason, and Nicole; one great-grandchild; sister Rowena; brothers William and Jacob (Catherine), as well as a circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, daughter Joan, father Albert, mother Maria Toope, two sisters Melina and Ellen. Visitation took place at the St. Mary's Anglican church, Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 18 with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Burial followed in the St. Mary's Anglican cemetery in Black Duck Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
