Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on July 2, 2008, Blanche Fillier, age 71 years. Leaving to mourn husband Alvin Fillier; sons Donald Fillier (Shawna) and Robert Fillier (Thirza); daughters June Brenton (James), Loretta Webber (Clarence), Gladys Brown (Wayne) and Rosalind Fillier (Morgan); 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother Wesley Colbourne (Ida). He was predeceased by son Austin Fillier and daughter Verna Fillier. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 4, with Pastor Angell officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.

NOBLE, VICTOR
St. Anthony

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on July 5, 2008, Victor Noble, age 82 years. Leaving to mourn his wife of 62 years Bertha; children Rita (Bob) McKenzie, Marion, Don (Donna), Reuben (Ruby), Cliff (Judy), Dave (Shelly), Terry, Rick (Loretta), Gladys (Loren) Campbell and Sheila (Rick) Elliott, as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn two sisters Doris and Vera and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by two infant sons, Sidney and Cecil, his parents Reuben and Mary, stepmother Laura, sister Eunice and brothers Wilfred, Pearce and Eric. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.

JOHNSON, JAMES A.
St. Anthony

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Johnson announces his passing on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Interfaith Home for Seniors, Corner Brook, at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Wanda (Matthew) Rumbolt, Pasadena, Anita Galandy, Calgary, Alberta and Randy (Patti), Chestermere, Alberta; grandchildren: Geoffrey, Perry, Jimmy, Max, Tyler, Benjamin and Zoey. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia; sisters Susan, Emma, Elsie, Martha and Berdina; and brothers Dudley and Leaton. Visitation was held at the K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held on Monday, July 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the Anglican Church, St. Anthony with Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Diabetic Association. Passed away on July 12, 2008, Irene Diamond, age 90 years. Leaving to mourn sons Calvin (Gay), Marvin (Edna); grandchildren Darren (Shawna), Duane (Allison), Dean (Krista), Lynn (Travis), Brent and Michael; great-grandchildren Cara, Michelle, Mark, Paul, Danielle, Jenna, Grant and Sarah. She was predeceased by husband Val Diamond; parents Lenora and Harrison Warren; and brother Bertran. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at the Kingdom Hall in St. Anthony, interment followed at the cemetery in Cook’s Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. COATES, HARRISON
Eddies Cove East

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harrison Coates announce his sudden passing on Monday July 14, 2008, at the age of 59 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Hazel; sons Quinten (Sherri) and Ricky; parents Willie and Thelma; brother Gerald (Ruby); sisters Betty (Bob), Marilyn (Whyman), Sisters-in-law Ivy, Hannah (Ralph), Caroline (Rendell), Shirley, Josie (Myles), Nita (Kirby), Faye (Warren); brothers-in-law Herb (Rachel), Noah (Laura), Ike, Clyde (Pansy), Roland (Norma), Gord (Sharon), Carl (Karen), Levi (Patsy) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Melvin, brother-in-law Dave and sister-in-law Ann. The family received friends at St. Andrews Anglican Church Lower Cove on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from where funeral service took place on Friday 2 p.m. with Rev Dianne Smith officiating. Internment followed at Anglican Cemetery Eddies Cove East. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home Port aux Choix-Bear Cove.

PATEY, FLORENCE W.
Griquet

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on July 15, 2008. Florence Patey of Griquet, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn sons Anthony (Wanda), Garry (Gail), George (Terry) and Junior (Trixie); daughters Gloria (Don), Edna (Bruce), Sharon (Nelson) and Pam (Kim); stepdaughters Karen (Terry) and Jean (Hebert); brother Winston (Vida); sisters Lottie, Madge (Joe), Minnie, Cassie (Allan), Sylvia (Ron), Annie (Roland) and Flossie (Freeman); 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and a large number of nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by husband Ralph Bussey in 1962, and second husband Sidney Patey in 2000, stepson Ronald Patey in 2000. Visitation took place at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St.Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 with Pastor Primmer, Pastor Rogers and Rev. Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay funeral director.

MYERS, THOMAS
Port au Choix
1914 – 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Myers announces his passing on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 94 years. Leaving to mourn sons Calvin (Kathleen) and Thomas (Eileen) of Port au Choix, and Edward (Winnie) of Avondale; daughters Olive (Frank) of Pigeon Cove and Annie of Port au Choix; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother Patrick (Mercedes) Myers of Bartlett’s Harbour, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Annie. Visitation took place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral service was held at Sacred Heart Church in Bartlett’s Harbour at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 21 with Fr. Edmund Camacho officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bartlett’s Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

DEMPSEY, Jessie Dempsey
Englee

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on July 19, 2008, Jessie Dempsey of Englee, age 93 years. Leaving to mourn children Rose, Vonne (Leo Holloway), Irvin (Ruby Brenton), Christopher, Hubert (Maxine Fillier) and Christine (Joseph Compton); three sisters Mary Fillier, Beatrice Pelley, and Christina Gillard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by husband James and brothers Richard and Robert. Visitation was held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel from where the funeral service was held on Monday, July 21, 2008. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Canada Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. May 17, 1926 – July 20, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Jane Parsons announces her passing on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at her residence in Parsons Pond at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Alexander; 10 children Vera (James), Thelma (Wally) Hayward (Melona), Jeanette (the late Robert), Edith (Jerry), Derek (Hughena), Joan (Edgar Jr.), Wayne (Carla), Glenn (Bernice) and Evelyn; 20 grandchildren: Franklin, Rudy, Martin, Larry, Mark, Jason, Joseph, Joni, Tina, Angela, Bobby, Desmond, Rocky, Derek, Stephanie, Tara, Sandi, Katelynn, Jennifer and Silas; 15 great-grandchildren: Tasha, Kelsey, Kristen, Shane, Ashley, Amber, Morgan, Matthew, Meghan, Ashton, Morgan, Hillary, Frederick, Taylor, James and Tyler; siblings: Albert and Hannah, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by son Wilby, parents Agnes and Ambrose Blanchard, brothers Johnny, Ken and Jimmy, and sisters Mertle, Hulda and Maudie. Visitation took place at the family residence in Parsons Pond on Monday evening and Tuesday. The funeral service was held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Parsons Pond on Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at the church cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen Roger (Pal) Keough, announces his sudden passing at his family residence in Parsons Pond on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in his 26th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his parents Roger and Sharon Keough; his brother Sheldon Keough; his grandparents James and Gladys Hancock of Forteau; uncles and aunts John Hancock of Forteau, Wanda Russell of Labrador City, Junior Hancock of Forteau, Doreen Hancock of Labrador City, Myles Hancock of Forteau, Pious (Julie) Keough of Parsons Pond, Austin (Edith) Patey of River of Ponds, Ann (Warren) Tuck, May Coles and Otis, Doug (Elizabeth) Keough, Earle (Romaine) Keough, Frazer (Lillian) Keough, Lewis (Nina) Keough and Trevor (Theresa) Keough, all of Parsons Pond, and Murray (Stephanie) Keough of Thompson, Manitoba, and also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. Stephen was predeceased by his grandparents Clayton and Kathleen Keough. Visitation took place at the Apostolic Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29 with Rev Rene Cassell officiating. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, parents Thomas and Eliza Pye, brothers Eric, Mark, John Charles, Reginald Wilfred and Ira, sisters Ina, Elizabeth and Louise; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Visitation took place at the United Church in Red Bay on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service was held on Monday, July 28 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dean Sellars officiating. Passed away at John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on July 29, 2008, Maude Burden, in her 84th year. Maude leaves to mourn her sons Fred (Ethel), Herman (Rebecca), Shawn, and Brad (Kathy); daughters Jessie (William), Pearl (Wilfred), Carrie (Harold), Marjorie (Leslie) and Ruby (Baxter); brother Eric (Rita); daughter-in-law Sarah Hedderson; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters- in-law Jessie (Melvin), Olive and Lottie, plus a large circle of friends. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Calvary Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet, from where the funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 with C.S.M. Cora Snow and Pastor Primmer officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in St. Lunaire-Griquet. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

Cook’s Harbour

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita (Warren) Coates announces her passing on July 29, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Leaving to mourn her husband of 61 years, Philip Coates Sr.; Wavey (Paul) Bevan, Gloria Mah, and Dean (Lynn) Coates; sister Elsie (Leonard) Elliott; brothers Clayton (Gladys) Warren and Garfield (Ada) Warren; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other family and friends in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Visitation took place at the Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 1. The funeral service was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in St. Anthony 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2. Interment followed in the cemetery of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cook’s Harbour. The family of Rita Coates wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness shown to them during this difficult time.
